The dinner meal was so fantastic, and I loved hearing the story of the property!

The room was large and lovely. Loved the pajama and robes. Lovely traditional Japanese breakfast was served in teh room. Beds were very comfortable.
Ours was a front room with a parking lot view. But honestly that did not matter much, it’s a quiet street. Would still stay there again.

Good location, 6 minutes from train. Spacious rooms, beautiful garden. Good Japanese breakfast. Very helpful staff.
Only regret is that we were hoping to have dinner, but the restaurant is closed wed.

It was a pleasure to stay at Izuyasu. We had the traditional Ryokan experience with a private bath, traditional clothes and traditional breakfast. The service was excellent. We were able to get a free drink after sharing our stat Instagram which was a lovely touch.
There was nothing we didn't like.

This inn has a lot of history and the staff shares those stories beautifully. They are the 7th generation taking care of the inn and they are incredibly thoughtful to honor decorations, dishes and other pieces from the first generation up to the current generation. The meal is absolutely delicious and worthy of Michelin star and the chef is a wonderful curator of food and stories. We stayed in 2 different rooms during our stay, all rooms were spacious and worked perfectly for our family of 4. Each room had a private toilet. There are 3 shower spaces, each with private onsen bath, in the inn that are shared for guests. You can reserve them for when you will need if you prefer. We were at the hotel when they were fully booked and never had a problem accessing the shower/onsen space when we needed it.
If you can stay at this inn, you should. If I have to share what I did not like...The only challenge I had was regarding booking the reservation. The inn is not currently set up to book any other way and the Booking.com reservation process is very limiting. I would have preferred to book 3 nights and only 1 evening with the meal as it is difficult for our family to strictly adhere to 7 pm dinner every evening when we would occasionally like to get lost in the city and surroundings.

The hospitality and Kaiseki course was phenomenal. The rooms were traditional and make you feel like you’ve been sent back 180 years. There is so much tradition and authenticity from the room, type of foods served, bathing room, and staff. Highly recommend and worth the money.
It is a traditional inn and the wood floors crack. This isn’t a dislike but important for those who are not heavy sleepers.

A very nice Ryokan in the center of Kyoto, roughly 10-15min walk from the main train station. The staff was exceptionally nice and helpful, our room was spacious and the traditional futon beds were the most comfortable we've had on our entire trip! Nice shared onsen bathrooms are available. I recommend booking also the dinner that is served here - we were too late to make a reservation, which was too bad. But the traditional Japanese breakfast was also good!
Nothing!

Breakfast and dinner... how do I say it... it is MAGICAL to have dining experience here. Your chef is the owner of this RYOKAN, which is pretty rare.
He serves traditional Japanese meal freshly picked at the local market on the very day.
Each ingredient, for instance, each vegetable tastes deep and rich in flavor, while you can enjoy the art of Japanese knives. Do not be hesitant if you're not familiar with the customs or manners. They accept all different sorts of guests equally and warmly. Their high class and skillful talent will never intimidate you, but make you just feel relaxed or meet your curiosity in every possible way.

The Kyoto Cuisine was a an amazing experience. They had a Chablis 1st cru which was a bargain, fantastic wine:-)
The staff was incredibly nice and helpful and a stay here is absolutely recommended despite not being cheap. But quality costs!
Reg the Kyoto Cuisine: As a non-japanes person, I had expected that the (btw very kind) waiter had practiced the presentation of the meal/ingredients just a little bit more. But this is just a minor detail that distinguished very good from perfect.
