About this villa rental
Constructed and renovated (2007) substantial detached villa. Private holiday home used regularly each year and so maintained and upgraded annually. Set in secluded, well stocked, walled gardens with great summer kitchen, extensive terraced areas and 8m x 4m lit heated swimming pool. Fully self catering and well equipped. This is a quiet getaway but only a few minutes drive from a marina development and beach (Balchik), 2 golf courses, the extensive beach resort of Albena, the city buzz of Varna or natural headland (Cape Kaliakra). This is a comfortable getaway, refurbished to a modern, high standard. Ideal for families, friends or that romantic break.
The property is located in a quiet, quaint farming village . It has no immediate neighbour (next door is a summer house) and is not overlooked. The house has a very large garden area with lots of terraces, areas and space.
This is a rural retreat, only a short drive from activities and attractions of the Black Sea coast and a good base to explore from. The Danube and Istanbul are both within 1/2 a days drive for excursions
Balchik and Albena: Balchik (15 minutes) - marina resort and small beach, great friendly restaurants, boat trips, small museum, shopping, Queen Maries Summer Palace and Gardens (a must!). There is a new Marina development and this lovely town, set into the side of the cliffs, is set to tastefully expand. There are 2 golf courses located on the edge of the town (approximately 10/15 minutes from the villa).
Albena (25 minutes) - full beach resort, fantastic beach, watersports, restaurants, horse riding, football, go karts, bowling, cinema, spa(s), massage and shopping. Albena is a purpose built resort with excellent clean and maintained beaches. Albena offers a busy bar/ restaurant scene but it is not overdone. The Bulgarians have been careful to control building and expansion to protect the feel of the area. There is also access to a small nature reserve. All this northern coastline has safe sandy beaches, clean sea waters and plenty to see and do.
Varna: Varna (40 minutes) - Bulgaria's 3rd city, vibrant cafe society, lots of shopping, beach, aquarium, dolphin show, parks, fantastic museums and art galleries. This is a great city to visit, it has a fascinating history and a rich cultural heritage. There are attractions and interests for all ages and you could visit for a whole week and still not see everything! Not as 'pretty' as other European cities but the Bulgarians have a friendly and youthful outlook which makes it a safe and comfortable place to explore (and get lost!)
Natural and Historic Attractions: Cape Kaliakra (35 mins)- historic headland and park. Roman ruins and defences, dolphin and whale viewings, outstanding natural beauty. This is one of many natural or historic attractions within 45 minutes drive of the villa. Other attractions to look out in the region for are the 'stone forest', roman museums, ancient cave monastery. There are also nature reserves with protected bird species and a wide mix of flora and fauna.
Bulgaria is famous for its roses and its honey.....the Valley of the Roses is 1/2 a days drive from the house and is a really good trip in the summer you get to see some amazing scenery and old villages. It is also famous for its sunflowers, grown on a vast scale for the oil . You will see massive fields full of flowers.
Pottery, wood carvings, wool and leather goods are also very popular.

The property was a little run down. It was in a very isolate area so a car is a must. The house next door was in the middle of refurbishment so quite a lot of banging throughout the day and they also has a few dogs that barked quite a lot. There was only a 2 ring hob so it was quite difficult to cook a meal for 5. It was also very difficult to actually find the villa as we were not given the full directions before arrival. There was a consistent bad smell in the downstairs bathroom and the air conditioning unit leaked ( quite dangerous as the television and plugs were situated underneath ) The pool was quite large but extremely cold ( quite refreshing on a hot day ) There was quite a few pool toys that came in handy. If you are looking for something very rural, this is the place for you. Thank you

Villa Korona
Lovely villa to relax in and very quiet. Great private outside area with nice swimming pool which was regularly checked and cleaned.
Good location for a number of beaches and places to explore. Car needed. Villa well equipped. Owner was very helpful and the house manager was at hand if needed. Would recommend
to family and friends.

Fantastic holiday!
We had an amazing holiday with family and friends at villa Korona! We enjoyed everything from the night life of Albena to relaxing in the sun at the villa and making the most of the beautiful views. Would love to go again!

Peaceful and relaxing
Our stay in Bulgaria was lovely. The villa was everything it promised and more. Everything you could possibly want was provided. Thank you to Kevin for being approachable and informative .

We enjoyed a fabulous fortnight in Villa Korona with our three children. The pool and garden were beautiful, and the house had everything we needed. We made extensive use of the outside cooking area and BBQ for fantastic dinners, and ate apples and plums from the trees in the garden. The rural location of the villa was peaceful but near enough to Dobrich for supermarkets and cheap meals out, to the beautiful beach at Albena, and the marina and seafront restaurants at Balchik. We also visited the Stone Forest and Alazha Monastery which were both well worth a trip. A car was essential (we booked with George at Fusion Cars which worked really well, even with a delayed flight and a car pick up after midnight!). Even with an extremely late arrival we were met by a smiling face and a fridge with essentials so we were able to make breakfast in the morning. Kevin was very helpful during the booking process and answered all our questions very promptly. We would highly recommend Villa Korona for a restful, relaxing holiday and a chance to get away from everything. Just what we needed!

A real gem of place, ideal for those wanting to recharge their batteries or "chillax" if you're a former politician. If relaxation is about a safe, comfortable, quiet location, far from the madding crowd, in the heart of the countryside, then this could be for you. Don't expect bright lights, relentless bars and clubbing, neon-lights and muzak. There's none of that: no inquisitive neighbours or even agricultural machinery in the surrounding fields; just blue sky and birdsong and time to catch up with yourself. It really is that quiet. If you are interested in "being seen at all the right places", don't bother - nobody is there to see you and no-one is looking (although I suspect you will eventually realise)! Rather, this is highly recommended for more discerning families and groups able to make their own entertainment. The villa is well-equipped with a very pleasant, walled garden, pool and separate outdoor kitchen (incl. bbq), although any more than four adults and (max.) two children would arguably be straining capacity. We would happily return and will start compiling a reading list for future visits.

Lovely place for an amazingly restful stay
Really enjoyed the villa, the facilities are ideal and made for an extremely relaxing trip. Visited a few of the surrounding towns and cities, my favourite probably being Balchik. There isn't much in the village itself, other than the two local shops, but there are several supermarkets not too far away so replenishing stocks wasn't an issue. All in all really enjoyed the villa, the location and the very enjoyable family stay that we had. Would definitely (in fact I already have) recommend this villa. Sonny was very helpful on his visits to clean the pool, but also unobtrusive. The locals were all very polite and helpful, to a point that I will certainly be going back.

We have just spent 2 lovely weeks in Kevin's house in Pop Grigorovo.
We especially liked the beautiful big garden with the pool. There are cherry and pear trees in the garden, a superbe swimming pool, enough deckchairs for everyone, and several opportunities to lounge and sit, as well as a state-of-the-art barbecue where our teenage boys used to grill our meat. The house was very clean, not too big with two upstairs bedrooms and a bathroom as well as a downstairs bedroom with an ensuite bathroom (for guests). Since the winters apparently get very cold and humid, the latter room tends to be a little smelly. Otherwise, the kitchen is well equipped, there are several TVs (that we did not use) Wifi works perfectly, and there are enough bath towels for 8 people.
One has to really get along as a family, because if it is rainy, the house is quite small and the village is tiny...
You need to take the car wherever you go. To Balchik it's a 30 minute drive, to the next Lidl/ it's 10-15 minutes. Varna and the airport are a 50 minute drive.
Kevin was very quick in answering our questions, the couple who looks after the house was also very helpful and took us to see a vet when our dog had a health problem. Also they cleaned the house for an extra charge when we asked them to.
For a family who needs to calm down this is an ideal and peaceful place to relax, if one does not mind the driving.

Great house in a perfect location if you want peace, quiet and privacy. The villa had everything we needed in terms of space and amenities. The pool was a good size, and fun inflatables were provided too! The welcome pack was appreciated. Spent a lot of time just relaxing at the villa, but the location means you can be in Dobrich in 10 mins for shops, cafes and supermarkets, and Balchik in 20 mins for the beach and other attractions. We also enjoyed exploring the Black Sea coast north of Balchik. Had a wonderful two weeks, will recommend to everyone, and hope to return!

The villa Korona gave us all home luxuries for two weeks. We enjoyed the whole space. The village is very friendly and welcoming with a lovely community spirit. We felt close enough to three beaches and water parks but a car is required with 3 children 14 13 and 11 we enjoyed albena resort. Thank you Kevin for a lovely holiday everyone has been so helpful and made our holiday all the more easier. A definite holiday escape.

We have had a wonderful week at Villa Corona, our first time of flying with 3 young children. Prior our arrival, the owner, Kevin, had sent us a detailed route plan from Varna airport and we had text contact from Katya to confirm our arrival time. Despite a late chnage to our flights we arrived to a lovely welcome back which kept us fed until lunchtime the follwoing day incluing a decent bottle of wine and local beer. Our eldest son has learning disabilities and the Villa proved to be a safe haven for him. Totally self contained and well equipped we were able to relax by the pool knowing that he was safe and happy. The rural location also allows even very young children to experience independent trips to the shops for ice-cream. Villa Corona is well connected to historic habours such as Balchik, wide and vibrant beaches, Albana and interesting bustling towns such as Dobrich where we really enjoyed watching the world go by in the pedestrian zone and had some great food. Kevin has an eye for detail and seems to have thought of everything even down to books, DVDs and toys for the children. Very quickly it felt like a home from home and we have already booked again for next year.

Lovely quiet rural retreat
Very nice villa with everything we needed for a lovely holiday. Pool was fantastic and the outdoor space including a summer kitchen made eating outside very easy and enjoyable. Very peaceful and relaxing environment. The villa is located in quite a remote location so you definitely will need a car to explore. If you like to escape from it all in a very well equipped, comfortable villa, this is the perfect place. We had a great time, thank you.

Stunning Villa Korona 👑
Villa Korona is an amazing place where you will be able to relax and enjoy not only hot Bulgarian weather but culture too, as the house is situated in a pictures village called Popgrigorovo.
The house has been supplied with everything that you need while being there-starting from wi-fi, dishwasher, great luxury furnitures, outdoor BBQ area with dinning table and chairs, and even lots of games for kids.
Overall the villa and it's surrounding area is perfect not only for couples or friends but families too.
Everyone will be able to enjoy it. While kids can play in the swimming and mum is sunbathing, dad can prepare a fresh BBQ lunch.
There is lots of beaches not far away from the house and they are familly friendly and lots of restaurants with stunning views.
You won't be dissapointed, and KEVIN-the owner will always make sure that your time in Villa Korona will be without any difficulties.

Peace and Tranquillity in Bulgarian countryside
Charming villa out in the countryside of Bulgaria situated in a small village, you will need a car to get there and back however roads are quite good and directions easy to follow.
The house is maintained within it's own grounds, although rural there is Sky TV and Internet to keep you connected to the outside world. We never used the indoor kitchen preferring the spacious BBQ in the covered summer kitchen. Around a 20 minute drive and you can be down at the coast in Balchick where you'll find a range of restaurants all serving good food and sensibly priced. Do try the local wines, they are a fraction of the imported wine prices and very drinkable.
All the rooms are air-conditioned however the evenings were just cool enough that leaving a window open was sufficient and pleasant. During the day you can lie by the pool with an occasional dip to cool off or sit in one of the shaded areas and read.
Easy to jump in the car and take day trips out, or just laze away at home!

Great holiday
We loved this place. The villa was spacious and the pool and barbeque area were fab. There was a much needed welcome pack upon our arrival and once you realise that you are within a 20minute drive to an excellent beach (Balchik) and 15mins to the nearest 'Penny market' supermarket, you appreciate the tranquillity and seclusion of this villa. Kevin (owner) and Katya (based locally) were both very helpful and more than prepared to answer/resolve any queries we had. The locals were friendly and the wildlife, sunflower fields and copious amounts of watermelon sellers, all made for a very memorable holiday. We would recommended this villa and Bulgaria without hesitation. The great weather, cheap cost of living and beautiful countryside enabled us to fall in love with this country. If it helps, my son recorded a video on youtube... Lewiscuff Bulgaria 2014.

Lovely villa with gorgeous gardens & pool
Cannot vault this villa - lovely and clean with excellent customer service. Villagers were very friendly and the two local shops in the village sold everything you would need until you were able to get to a supermarket. Pool was wonderful and was maintained on a regular basis by an extremely friendly gardener/maintenance man. You would definitely need a car whilst holidaying at this villa but the two nearby towns of Dobrich and Balchich had everything you would need such as parking, good restaurants, markets and supermarkets. Would definitely recommend this villa for someone looking for a lovely relaxing holiday in the sunshine and to also experience the real Bulgaria rather than just the tourist areas.

Lovely Bulgaria
The villa was lovely and exactly as per the website. Welcome pack was very welcome, and meant we were able to settle in for the evening after the travel,a nd find the supermarket the next day. Village is small and rural but very friendly and close to airport, beaches/resorts/supermarkets etc.
Would recommend a hire car for trips to supermarket and nearby resorts - Balchik (traditional coastal town with restaurants/bars/shops), Albena (resort town with gorgeous beaches, lots of hotels, restaurants, shops and bars), Varna etc. We also took an overnight trip to Nesebar which I would highly recommend. It was very beautiful, and is a world heritage site.
The weather was glorious, and pool helped us to cool down after lots of sunbathing on the very sturdy loungers. We enjoyed many barbecues in the well equipped, well-stocked, outdoor kitchen. Bulgaria definitely surpassed my expectations, and I would heartily recommend this holiday to anyone.

10 days in July 2012 - Norwegian family of 4.
The house is exactly as described. Popgrigorovo is a very small, nice and quiet village surrounded with fields of sweetcorn, melons and sunflowers and not to forget nice people. It is located close to Dobrich, a town not visited by many tourists. However it is very close also to Balchik which is much more crowded with tourists. Pick your choice. We preferred both.
You will find nice and good restaurants both places. It is a bit more expensive in the tourists areas. However, as used to Norwegian price level, we found the prices in Bulgaria extremely cheap. Anywere!
You will benefit with a rental car if you choose to stay in Popgrigorov, but you will probably also survive if you choose not to. There are buses and taxies in the area, but the local shops (2) have very limited range.
My family, (2 kids -10 and 13 yr), visited the beaches close to Balchik, went shopping in Dobrich and Varna and visited Aquapark in Varna. We preferred both to visit local restaurants and also cook meal in the nice bbq house by the villa.
A garderner took care of the property during our stay and everything related to our stay was well organized.
We can recommend a stay in this nice villa if you are looking for a quiet place not far from central areas. Do not expect to meet other tourist in PopGrigorovo, and do not expect other languages than Bulgarian;)

Amazing Stay
As a first time visitor to Bulgaria my experience at the Villa Korona was astounding. From the villa itself with its spacious well maintained grounds with the luxury of pool and outdoor living area - providing plenty of of space to laze and play.
The house is welcoming and homely, finished to a high standard providing every facility one could ask for to feel truly at home (and the welcome pack was most welcome for a weary traveller arriving late in the evening). The villa is enclosed to give you all the privacy to feel comfortable but not so isolated as to not receive a warm greeting or wave from the friendly locals when out and about on our travels.
Getting out and about is a must too. I had a packed week and barely got to sample some of the attractions... The marina and restaurants of Balchik, the ruins and sights of Cape Kaliakra, beaches of Albena and a overnight stay (very affordable accommodation) at the beautiful Nesebar with its collection of antique churches and huddled cobbled streets and lanes make it well worth stepping onto the tourist trail.
With so much to see and do (or not if you'd rather relax by the pool!) with fantastic fresh local food at very reasonable prices (a disservice to call it cheap) either prepared for you or enjoyed in the house I would be more than happy to come back to enjoy more of what this wonderful destination has to offer.

Great Place to Enjoy
We (family with a 10 year old boy) found Villa Korona in perfect condition, just ready for relaxing holidays, embedded in the calm village of Popgrigorovo with a garden/pool offering great privacy. In app. 30 minute driving distance we enjoyed clean and nice black sea beaches, like Albena, Lighthouse beach and Balchik which is a friendly place with excellent restaurants. Kevin and his local staff were greatly supporting us from the preparation of the travel to arrval at the airport and during our stay for any request. We spent three fantastic weeks there and can absolutely recommend this property.

Summer 2011
This was our third visit to this delightful country, and our second visit to this superb villa. It is the perfect location for a quiet peaceful holiday but also within easy access for local beaches. The villa is of a very high standard and immaculately maintained offering great value for money. we will certainly return again.
The villa is set in a traditional Bulgarian village. There are two "shops" which are well worth a visit. The town of Balchik is about twenty minutes drive and there are some lovely restaurants on the seafront. We would recommend the Francis Drake which specialises in fresh sea food. Another town worth a visit is the popular seaside resort of Albena.
