Chatel area: Chatel is at the centre of the Portes du Soleil ski area, the largest linked ski area in Europe, comprising 14 resorts in France and Switzerland. The village itself has a traditional style supporting local farming as well as tourism. It caters for many local French people as well as visitors from all over Europe and further. There is a wide selection of restaurants and bars, including many traditional Savoyard restaurants and shops.
Our chalet is located in a quiet position in the Petit Chatel area, just above the town centre, however during peak seasons, both winter and summer, there is a restaurant and bar, a boulangerie, sports shops with ski equipment hire and a newsagent open, just a short walk away, opposite the Barbossine lift.

Plenty of room. Everything we needed to self cater. Clean and comfortable. We were glad that inter sports allowed us to leave our skies and boots with them each day as it was a bit of a walk uphill to get back each day. Fabulous views over the village and across the mountains. Great value.

Nice place, nice to stay

We had a great stay and would happily recommend to anyone.
The chalet is well kept and has everything you need for an enjoyable stay.
Good communication from the owner and check in and out quick and easy.
Views from chalet are great and location is quiet but easy to access, with a short 15 minute walk to the town center (or just a couple of minutes to the bus stop)
Path up to chalet is a little steep - fine when no snow on path, but after fresh snow more of a challenge.

The chalet was all we needed, beautiful views over the valley and easy access down the hill to Chatel itself.

The chalet is very pleasant - not fancy but has everything you need to have a lovely stay. Beds are comfortable, lounge is spacious and plenty of seating. Kitchen small but perfect for a weeks self catering. 20 min walk into Chatel, unfortunately the free ski bus does stop running early so don't rely on that to get back to Petit after a meal out but the walk is not too bad.
We had trouble the first day getting our hire car up the final bit (too much snow/ice in one small area) to the garage so had to leave it at the bottom of the slope. Next day (after a little sun) no problem getting the car up to the Garage. The garage was great - we left our skis there over night so saved us carrying up the final path. The walk from the lift is ok - but probably difficult if you've got young kids who don't carry their own stuff but with teenagers it was fine. We skied down to the lift every morning (bar one when we went to Pre de Joux). Chatel is a nice resort but does have a lot of drag/button lifts which do have queues in half term but access to Switzerland is easy and some lovely runs on that side. Hired skis from Intersport at the bottom of the lift - They let us leave our shoes there on the last day so really easy to return and walk back up to the Chalet.
Good access from Geneva, it did take us near 2 hours to get to Chatel due to traffic on the A1/A9 along the north side of the lake, but access up to the mountains was really easy and quick, no long queues and the journey back was around 1.30 hrs. However, car rental from the French Side was a little confusing to return so that did add an extra 10 minutes to the journey (a note if you do hire from French side there is a Shell garage that is substantially cheaper than the airport pumps that you drive past to get to the French side so fill up your hire car there!).
A nice chalet, in a convenient location.

A lovely well sized and well facilitated chalet at the top of Petit Chatel. The Chalet was clean and with generous sized rooms, even for a group of adults. The views from the balcony were spectacular, lovely to wake up to and eat your breakfast.
Access from top of Super Chatel lift was easy, but a fair walk from the town centre.
