the staff were fabulous...always smiling and happy to do anything for you. Special mention to Tom who was brilliant. Breakfast was very good.
the kitchen fans went on at 6.30 in the morning which woke us up as they were quite loud.

Breakfast on the Monday was better. More personable. Someone took our breakfast order whereas on the Sunday it was a buffet.
The room looked clean but looking at the TV (which didn't work) there was a layer of dust that probably dates back pre-Covid and a massive build-up of limescale in the bath. As someone who lives in a chalky area, I know this can be cleaned. Not the best view, a roof, and the toiletries were minuscule, some thin packets of shower gel that might be enough to clean 1 body part but not much else. A Bischof biscuit each on our first night but we didn't know it was supposed to last both days otherwise we would have shared. Dinner was a big disappointment, just 3 main options and no vegetarian/vegan option. I feel like Bourne Hall is pretending to be something it's not. It could be grander but it currently falls a long way short.

My husband and I booked a standard room for 2 nights, as we were attending a wedding being held at the hotel. From start to finish the staff were attentive, professional and friendly. Our room had a beautiful view of the sea and was newly refurbished with lovely new bedroom furniture. The queen sized bed was one of the comfiest I’ve ever slept in and the sheets were good quality.
I found the hotel to be clean and nicely presented, with comfy sofas in the drawing room and tasteful decor in the bar area. In my opinion as good as The George Hotel in Yarmouth, but at a fraction of the cost and better service.

Very efficient , very friendly staff.

The Superior double room was spacious, with a very comfortable four-poster bed, and large bay windows overlooking the gardens and sea. Superb location on edge of town and next to costal path, and the breakfasts were excellent.
The bedroom could do with a little updating.
3.6
Rude staff at the dining.
Rooms were not properly serviced on 2nd and 3rd day.
Coffee, milk sachets were not refilled any day.
Towels placed on floor were not replaced with fresh towels.
No lift.

The staff were friendly and always smiling.
The hotel is dated, but clean and tidy.

Breakfast was excellent , good options for continental and full english
Room was comfortable however creaky floorboards above (we do realise that this is an old property and this did not ruin our stay.
Pool , shame it wasnt open while we stayed probably the hottest weekend of the year so far. Again did not ruin our stay.
Choice of evening meals very basic, but quality ok
Everything else was great.
3.6
The setting, the staff are second to none, Tom was excellent, nothing was to much for the gent . Food was excellent .
Nothing .

Staff were really welcoming and friendly.

Breakfast OK.Location stated few minutes walk from Shanklin Village. Not true! Did not mention the steep roads you had to walk up to get there.Would not stay again. To far away from everything if you are walking.
No enertsinment, nothing to do when the weather is bad like it was when we stayed. We did not take the car but, the weather was not good so we sat in our room for a while.Maybe need to invest in pool table or something for people to do .as the nearest pubs/restaurants are in the village which means walking both ways, not enjoyable .

Comfy bed and the best scrambled eggs I have ever had in my life!

Atmosphere and surrounding and staff.
Rooms weren't in character with the building. More attention to detail. Bathroom needed updating.

Lovely hotel in a great location, we were happy with the room and really enjoyed the breakfast!
The mattresses in the room were quite hard so didn't get the best nights sleep - everything else was perfect :-)

Location was fantastic, staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Leaving.
The website wasn't up to date. No indoor pool access & no hot breakfasts or evening meals available. Our room (no. 19) had a dripping leak from somewhere which the staff knew about but still put us in that room but after I complained they moved us to a better room.

Very nice. Good selection
Bathroom floor rather slippery. Grab handle would have been helpful.

The hotel needs to be shut down swimming pool was green (outside) inside pool empty-the hotel is in extremely poor condition rooms are awful overall the hotel is beyond tired and needs huge investment .would strongly recommend anybody to stay in a different hotel.

Friendly staff were welcoming and very helpful, especially Tom on reception, and staff in breakfast room, no cooked breakfast available , but a good choice of pastries, cereal , toast , fruit , drinks etc , no evening meals available , but you can order a takeaway, if wanted , bar available , outside swimming pool . Rooms clean , hotel dated , overall enjoyed our stay .
Steep hill to shops , and beach shame indoor swimming pool not in use ,

The location, whilst at the top of a large hill, made for lovely views and it was very quiet and peaceful. There was always plenty of free parking. The room was very large (premier suite) it had a bedroom, dressing room and ensuite - however the standards of cleanliness, decor and maintenance do not match the pictures.
The standard of the hotel did not live up to the pictures. The general cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel requires drastic improvement. A hot breakfast was not available for the duration of our stay (even though it was paid for) which we were not informed about at any point, despite being told by staff it was 'on our booking email' (it was not). The pool facilities were either restricted or completely closed at one point.

lovely location
Very dated. Needs a good deep clean and a facelift throughout.

Our room had two bedrooms which was a pleasant surprise. Breakfast was of high standard. Great fried breakfast, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Property was clean and had daily maid service.
Floor boards were very noisy from above and also our own room, been woken up by the noise of this from above. Outdoor pool was closed for the first 2 days of our stay due to poor weather had knocked the chemicals out. When is was open it was stated chemically fine however the pool was very cloudy and was not a heated pool like we had expected.

The View
Firstly. No indoor swimming pool or sauna as advertised due being too expensive to switch on. They should change their advertising.
I was charged £1 to change a breakfast item. NOT to add one. APPALLING

Amazing location comfortable beds nice shower and great choice of breakfast. Sarah and reception staff very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Location of Bourne Hall super up steep hill views across sea fabulous. Would stay here again. Stayed with my husband and son.
Very hilly road just me but wouldn't stop us from staying at Bourne Hall again.

Interesting English breakfasts. Good service. Spacious Hotel. Reception check in /out excellent!
7 am wake up by engines of motorcycles at backyard parking. The ceiling fan was covered with thick layer of Victorian dust falling on us strait to bed. Cleanless was very poor. For the price charged you can get way cleaner room, better breakfasts everywhere in other countries eg Poland.
3.6
Room was nice with sea view
Quality of bacon and sausages at breakfast.
We have an amazing butchers near where we live and judge the food by there standards.

Maybe a lift would be a positive addition.

Location
Hotel room very tired and bed was too hard, on arrival told all seating in the dinning room were taken, so we had to make our own arrangements on the first evening and drive into town!!
