I have stayed here more than once !!!
And it gets better each time.
I can find no fault with this
Wonderful place.

all the hydrangeas blooming and finding out that the lady of the house grew and showed bouquets that were fresh.. the people that own the property have a special gift for running it. they had a special pub with stories and singing and of course a bit of craic. not sure that’s spelled correctly but I enjoyed myself and would definitely go back.
kinda hard pilllows

Great location and impressive building.
Lacked the ambience of a cosy luxury hotel.
4.5
The location was fabulous and the vintage decor was amazing. Bar and waiting staff were brilliant.
4.5
The entire experience was beautiful! The castle itself, the dinner, the champagne happy hour.
4.5
The location and castle was great. It was walking distance to town and a small park (traveling with a toddler who loved it). Breakfast was also excellent, as was the wait staff. The proprietor was very present and informative. Rooms were spacious, & we would have liked to catch the historic chat, but missed it while out for dinner.
Overall everything was great, just not exceptional. Room was clean, but not spotless, a few small hairs in the bathroom and a loose pill. Front desk staff at check in were perfectly pleasant, but short with their responses & not elaborating when asking for recommendations.

Meet and greet in the pre dinner drinks was unexpected and lovely
Friendliness of other guests and opportunity to talk and share stories
location - beautiful countryside
history of the hotel
loud bar music where we couldn't talk

Warm welcome. Fun and surprisingly informative talk by owner in the bar before dinner including generous supply of complimentary prosecco. Evening dinner was excellent
Very dated room, definately in need of some investment. Evening meal was expensive.
4.5
Breakfast was good. The location of the hotel was also good - plenty of parking
No valet service

Breakfast was very good. Host was excellent and friendly.
Room was little bit small.

This was our second visit to the Abbeyglen, this time we returned with friends. the dinner, breakfast and the craic was excellent. The management and staff will not be found anywhere else, their friendliness is second to known. Don’t miss the owners history talk in the bar each evening around 6.30. We will be back.

Staff were great from reception to Bar and restaurant. They even went out to the shop in the morning to get special coffee for us. Ronan was very engaging at the bar telling us stories about the area at the free champagne reception in the bar before dinner. He went around asking people where they were from and taking photos. At dinner he arrived with flags from the countries people were from and a photo momento to take home which I thought was a lovely touch. I was with my pregnant friend from Romania and we really enjoyed our stay. Have already recommeneded the hotel to colleagues.
Nothing really. Would have loved to have a swimming pool perhaps and a more extensive cocktal list :-)

We had an exceptionally lovely stay in the Abbeyglen. Champagne reception at 6:30 followed by a local talk is a lovely way to welcome guests. The dining room was buzzing with a mix of Irish, European and American tourists most of whom retired to the bar afterwards for a sing song, led by Brian on the piano! The staff make the hotel a special place mixing local hospitality with a very high class service. Would highly recommend.

Great location and setting

You won't find a better welcome or more hospitable hosts anywhere. The food is excellent and the entertainment in the form of chat and live music in the bar is unbelievable. The Hughes family and all of the staff could not do more for you. A real gem.
4.5
Food and service excellent. Host gracious and interesting a well run facility.
Management of noisy guests in dining room, bar. Difficult to do.

The champagne welcome was informative and fun.
Delicious breakfast was a bonus. Very friendly, helpful staff.
A short walk up to the Clifton Castle or down to the city center.

Very welcoming property and staff in particular Ronan and Brian who made everyone feel welcome and even hosted a champagne reception with some history about the area and Abbeyglen. They also gave us a photo they took of us as a gift.

The bed was super comfortable and our room was beautiful. I loved hearing the sound of the creek outside of our window. The breakfast was exceptional, especially the fresh-squeezed orange juice.

The hospitality was beyond wonderful! The location was idyllic and serene. Breakfast was fast and delicious. The champagne orientation was more than expected- what a fantastic thing to offer!
