Location was great. Beautiful views over the town and the sea. Lovely balcony facing to the west towards the sea. We cooked a couple of evening meals and everything worked satisfactorily. We found a great fishmongers in Fiumicello, a supermarket, and a nice cafe for a simple breakfast. The port is very pretty particularly at night. We stayed for 3 nights after previous 3 nights in the Pollino national park.
We needed a car to get to the shops and restaurants. The property is on a main road above the port and beaches. It's possible to walk down but it necessitates walking for a little way along the road. There is only 1 bathroom / toilet which was a bit tricky for 6 of us (but we were aware of this before we came). The villa was a little tired and could have done with a bit of updating, but everything worked satisfactorily.

The covered terrace overlooking the coast is spectacular and even better than I hoped. There is a table and chairs on the deck and it was nearly always cool and comfortable. The parking is great and once you know where the gate to the property is located it makes it nice when you have a car. It was also nice that so many of the rooms had large windows you could open to enjoy the breeze (it was warm when we were there.). There were also two nice fans for sleeping (no a/c) The kitchen is fine and stove and fridge worked perfectly. The host gave us a brand new router and wifi worked well for us. The host also allowed us to check out an hour later than posted and that worked great.
Check in was a bit awkward because even with location coordinates we didn't see the gate. A women who only spoke Italian came and found us and delivered us to the property and gave us keys. But because she didn't speak any English--and we don't speak Italian--we had some difficulty asking questions. The home is a large one built years ago and hasn't been updated--particularly the bathroom. The toilet is old and a stubborn flush. There was only one roll of toilet paper for our five night stay. All of the windows have shutters but most have latches that were in disrepair. There were four bedrooms which we knew about but when we arrived our sheets were stacked on the bed. After all the vacation rentals we've ever stayed in, this was the first one where we had to make our own beds. Also disappointed that there were very few basic supplies. No salt, pepper or olive oil. Also there was no hotpot or tea kettle for hot water. While the deck and the view that came with the house were worth the experience, I am not sure I would stay here again.

The terrace and the garden are just unbelievable
It’s a large villa, probably originally built over 100 years ago, with lots of character. The family who own it, also use it in Summer so it feels authentic, not just a holiday let.
You have plenty of space in the house but the outdoors take the prise. The views of the gulf are amazing, and the garden with fruit tree and cacti is gorgeous.
Very conveniently located for all the best beaches in Maratea. Close to the town, the port and the supermarket

Space, atmosphere.
Bed in one room was too hard. An written English explanation about keys and other housekeeping affairs would be helpful.
