200 m2 of pure charm. A 4 bedroom apartment with a large terrace for your dinners on the warm Lisbon summer nights. Old tiles on the walls of one of the bedrooms, living and dining room facing the terrace dominated by a wooden deck, comfortable rooms and air conditioning complete the picture of an apartment idealized for families or groups of friends
DESCRIPTION
This fully renovated apartment is part of an old building in the heart of Alfama. Large, well decorated, full of sunshine, you will feel the good taste in every detail. Of the 2 beautiful ensuite rooms, one in shades of blue to match the magnificent 18th century tiles on the walls, the other in white and green, passing through the two other rooms, windowless but with air conditioning, nothing in this apartment was forgotten. This attitude is reflected in the decoration of the living and dining rooms, bright, modern and comfortable, opening onto a spacious terrace dominated by a wooden deck, perfect for extended breakfasts or candlelit dinners in the summer. The apartment also has lots of storage, honey-colored wooden floors, renovated bathrooms and a nice kitchen, totally refurbished, and a terrace, the perfect place for your children to play in complete safety.
The many stairs and small cobbled stone streets in the neighborhood are an invitation to guests' fitness! (historic area without access to cars).
Located in a typical Alfama alley with pots of plants in the doorstep of the neighbors. The street only has access by stairs that take you to the Largo das Portas do Sol, one of the most beautiful viewpoints of Lisbon.
NEIGHBORHOOD
For sightseeing, Alfama is probably Lisbon’s most interesting quarter, packed with monuments from 12th to 18th century, Fado venues, little restaurants and bars, and about 2 minutes away from the famous 28 tram which will take you through some of Lisbon’s highlights.
The apartment is walking distance from the breathtaking Portas do Sol (“sun’s doors”) belvedere from where you can enjoy the river’s ever changing colors and the outline of Serra da Arrábida mountains.
But you can also start to walk the downhill cobbled stone streets of old Lisbon to reach places such as the Fado Museu (4 min), Sao Jorge Castle and Se Cathedral (6 min), the breathtaking Praça do Comércio (12 min), downtown Rossio (15 min), and about 25 min away the aristocratic Chiado and the alternative Bairro Alto.
If you prefer to walk uphill from your apartment you reach the Graça belvedere and the imposing 18th century Graça church (where you might listen to a church choir rehearsal on a Sunday afternoon) in about 10 min. Also in a 10 min range from this church, you will find the even more beautiful Senhora do Monte belvedere; typical Feira da Ladra (flea market) on Tuesdays and Saturdays; or São Vicente de Fora convent and its incredibly beautiful rooftop (please do not miss it!).
This quarter is served by the 28 tram and some buses. However, if you walk downhill and reach the river side you will find buses that will transport you to Lisbon’s every corner (including the airport). Or, alternatively, take the metro in Terreiro do Paço or Santa Apolónia (both ca 12 min). From Rossio square you can walk across Baixa and reach Cais do Sodré train station which serves the beautiful seaside village/resorts of Cascais and Estoril (30 min), where the Portuguese and European royalties used to spend their summers in the late 19th and early 20th century or Rosio station from where you can take the train and visit the amazing natural jewel that Sintra is.

Beautiful and spacious apartment in a historic area with well-maintained amenities and great outdoor spaces. Excellent location in the oldest part of the city, perfect for exploring and relaxing. Highly recommended!

Perfect location. Spacious and comfortable.

The communication with the property rental company was very good. We used the baggage service that they recommended and this proved to be very useful, having our luggage collected at the airport and delivered to the property at check in time.
The property is well maintained and in a very small street only taxis can enter the area but the closest they can get is about 100 yards away. There are 4 ways in and out from the apartment, one is up steps, two are up hills and the last is down a steep narrow street. You need to be able to cope wit stairs and steep hills.
The 4 bedrooms were useful for our family of 3 couples. The 4th bedroom was used to house some of the luggage as 3 of the bedrooms are quite small. The patio is a welcome addition and was a nice place to relax and have a cocktail after a day of walking the streets of Lisbon. The small living room had a really dirty rug that should really be thrown out.
A major failing of this property is the lack of mugs, glasses, plates etc. It can accommodate 8 people but there were only 5 coffee mugs. With 6 of us all wanting coffee or tea in the morning we had to take turns to use a mug! To add to that the dishwasher worked overtime with very small loads.

Stayed with group of 7 adults. Plenty spacious, well appointed, sunny and bright. Amazing location for staying in oldest part of city. You need to be fit and able to accommodate for the streets and stairs for this apartment , especially with luggage. Short walk to everything on hillside , but it is located at midpoint. Many great restaurants and bars and historic sights all around.

We were a large group of 7 using this apartment as a base to explore Lisbon. Alfama is truly the oldest section, with extreme walking on very hilly narrow cobblestone streets. We loved the accommodations and enjoyed the terrace as well. All was well maintained although some where and tear is evident with some of the furniture and living room rug.
It is an old neighborhood with many buildings encasing our apartment adding to the charm. Just down a narrow street is the best coffee and lunch shop, and just a few more doors down is a fabulous pastry shop. Our host helped with arranging luggage transport from the train station and also helping making arrangements for transport to the airport. Since it is the “historic” area of the city , the location was challenging for Uber and Taxi drivers to locate as google maps wanted to take us out of the city . We did figure it out and used the cathedral of St George as our destination and we were dropped off close to the apartment. Overall, the apartment worked well for us and would stay there again hopefully someday.

Very good property as listed in picturesque part of town.

The house was not as pictured. Deck looks great, it is not.
Small rooms, broken up, bathroom door squealed so loud when you closed it that it could not be used. No closet in one bedroom, poorly equipped. BUT the main problem is that there are cameras in the living room and halls of the bedroom. NOT ok. Owner was very good about arranging transportation as most of the companies can't find it and you have to walk 3-4 blocks up hill to get any transportation. Don't bring heavy luggage, between that and the stairs not easy. Great property for students/young adults traveling with minimal luggage and needs.
5.0
We were three couples staying in Lisbon for the first time. This property offered very good bedroom space and bathrooms for each couple; and was very clean, plus beds comfortable. The kitchen had all necessary appliances (ie standard coffee maker). We appreciated the outdoor space to sit outside for breakfast and/or evening wine.
The neighborhood is quiet in the evening so good for sleeping. There was a bakery down the lane outside of the property and a mini-market a short walk through the quaint alley-like streets further for some essentials. Up the stairs from the property (3 min walk "up") brought you to beautiful views over Alfama/Lisbon (an easy walk to catch an amazing sunrise), and a rooftop bar nearby. There are plenty of restaurants walking distance. Additionally, if you come in by train, you can walk to the property (15 min) but would only suggest doing so with smaller rolling bags; otherwise, would suggest going by taxi/uber.
Additionally, communicating with Paula was terrific. She was super responsive to all our questions, helped to coordinate our arrival, provided walking instructions and helped to arrange our departure taxis to the airport. I would definitely recommend this location when staying in Lisbon.
5.0
Beautiful and well-appointed flat apartment with 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, wonderful terrace, all the amenities that one needs in Lisbon. The location is great in old town Alfama, where you need good walking shoes to climb hills, stairs and stone streets and walkways. Plenty of bars, restaurants, cafes and mercados available to get what you might need/want. Carlos was a fantastic host and was very easy to work with and extremely helpful.
5.0
This property is exactly as advertised: it's a beautiful space located in the Alfama neighborhood. It was a comfortable place for us to hang out with each other, even when rain kept us off the patio (which is huge!). Climate control in each room was great, and the rooms are sound-isolated from each other and the rest of the apartment. Someone could get up in the morning and make coffee without waking everyone else up.
As is common in Europe, there is a washer but no dryer. There are, however, drying racks and heated towel warmers that do a great job on socks. There were only two keys, so we did have to do some careful management in our group to ensure folks doing different things could get in when they needed to.
4.0
Well maintained and comfortable. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate so we were not able to take advantage of the nice patio. Property rep, Joyce, who checked us in was pleasant and helpful with sending us information around Lisbon.
5.0
Great place to stay in Lisbon as long as you are good with stairs. Excellent location for immersing yourself in the city of Lisbon. Very clean and well-maintained. The property manager was great and very easy to communicate and deal with. Only concern we had was a group of women that the blinds/covers were inadequate in the common space and we observed the neighbors watching us closely. Highly recommend this space!

The apartment had a lot of character just like the neighborhood it is located in. There are many things to see in this area of Lisbon and lots of good restaurants can be found here too.

Clean, nice terrace, nice place. Everything was great.
5.0
Great location in historic Alfama. Right in the middle of a neighborhood with narrow cobblestone streets where local still live. Property was great and we enjoyed the outside patio. Had a few hiccups with some drivers not being able to find the location, but otherwise great.

Great location with many restaurants and shops close by. Alfama was our favorite neighborhood

Great apartment, very comfortable with everything you need for a stay. It was a little difficult getting there the first time, but great neighbourhood with lots of small shops, cafe and restaurants to try.

We were so glad to have found this unique apartment large enough to house a family gathering to celebrate my son's 30th birthday. Apartments for 8 are hard to find in the city. Situated in the heart of Alfama, the oldest, most historic and most characterful part of Lisbon, it provided deceptively spacious accommodation. The absolute selling point was having the outside terrace area in which to relax away from the hustle and bustle. As the listing describes, two bedrooms have no windows so having the lovely bright communal areas was fantastic (though the terrace is looking a bit more worn than in the listing).
Paula and Nuno were extremely responsive and helpful before and also during our stay - I can't praise them enough.
We absolutely loved Lisbon and we look forward to returning.
5.0
Very comfortable apartment with room to spread out for 3 generations in quirky Alfama. Even though festival music was loud a few streets away apartment is in a very quiet area. Appreciated the airport ride that Paula (owner) arranged -arrived on time and comfortable ride. Luggit for arrival luggage also worked out very well.
5.0
Well appointed apartment with a fantastic outdoor space, perfect for 8 adults. The property’s agent Carlos met us on arrival and was very informative about the city. Good communication with the owners and very easy check in and out, would highly recommend.
5.0
We loved this property for our family vacation. Plenty of space for the 7 of us. 4 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms (varying sizes), nice living space, efficient kitchen, half bath. We were a bit tight when all at the table to eat, but made it work. Lisbon was very hot when we were there, so we didn’t spend as much time on the patio as we’d thought. The room air conditioners were a blessing. Paula was wonderful to work with and very responsive in helping to arrange airport transfers.
5.0
We loved this apartment in the historic Alfama district. Spacious enough for 8 adults with a wonderful outdoor space to enjoy. Paula and Carlos were excellent to work with even given our very delayed arrival. The drivers they arranged went above and beyond for us. I would highly recommend a stay in this lovely apartment.
5.0
We had a great stay at this property. It’s a beautifully renovated and well-appointed apartment that’s tucked in the center of Alfama. Having the large outdoor patio was a bonus for our group. We wish our stay was longer than 3 days, and if we return to Lisbon we will hope to come back to this apartment!
5.0
The property was lovely and in the historical neighborhood. We loved visiting Lisbon. We had 2 grandparents, 2 parents and 2 kids. Just a perfect place to land. You can get anywhere in many different transportation modes around the city. The communication with the owners and the property manager was excellent from start to finish! We would highly recommend you stay here.

This was a wonderful place to stay while visiting Porto. There was more than enough space for all 7 of us. The cat Rita is super cute as well!

We loved this apartment! Beautiful and in the heart of the Alfama. The apartment had everything we needed and convenient location. Nuno was great answering our questions and providing recommendations. Would highly recommend!

It can be hard to find a centrally-located property that's big enough for our family of 8, but this 4 BR apartment was perfect. We liked the way the bedrooms are along a "wing" away from kitchen and living room. Super quiet in the bedrooms. Also nice to have individual AC controls in each room. Great kitchen, too. We were unable to use the outdoor area due to lots and lots of rain ... but looked lovely. You might want to grab some paper towels, coffee, and body wash; as the apartment does not include those niceties.

Great location in Alfama
We spent 3 wonderful days in Lisbon and stayed in this centrally located apartment in the heart of Alfama. We had everything we needed and we really appreciated the information book provided by Carlos and Fatima which had some great tour and food recommendations. My favorite was Alfama Doce’ which was a coffee and pastry shop just steps from our front door.
We were challenged in finding nearby parking and the apartment was a bit difficult to locate. Once we accomplished that - everything was great!

A truly unbelievable apartment in an amazing neighborhood
I can’t say enough about this apartment but three things stand out especially. The apartment is beautifully furnished. The air conditioning works great even in the Lisbon heat. The apartment is huge (4 bedrooms / 4 bathrooms) in the heart of Alfama. Amazing. The winding streets of this ancient neighborhood are literally at your doorstep. We were their during Festival of Lisbon. We watched live music right from our window.
One thing to be aware is the narrow streets make getting the luggage in and out a challenge. Definitely use the LUGGit service recommended by the hosts.
The hosts are also amazing. So passionate about Lisbon and especially Alfama. They also really were accommodating with check-in when one of our daughters was ill. I couldn’t ask for more.
Thank you so much!

This is a spacious, clean and comfortable apartment in the heart of Lisbon. The communication was excellent throughout with the owner/manager. Definitely recommend!

Spacious flat in quirky, lovely Alfama
We adored our stay at this spacious, four-bedroom flat in Alfama. The home was clean, well provisioned, beautifully located, and has an envy-inducing outdoor area for rest and cocktails between a day of sightseeing and an evening of dining.
The location is ideal, if you want to stay in Old Lisbon among twisty cobbled paths and mysterious staircases. It’s just up the hill from all the shops you could want (including a quality and shockingly well-priced pastry shop), and just down the hill from acesss to the 28 tram and castle.
Fatima and her team were lovely and accommodating, including providing excellent directions in a confusing place, and top-rate suggestions for restaurants.
Stay here. You won’t regret it.
2.5
Fatima has been a pleasure to communicate with and Carlos was extremely friendly and supportive upon check in and check out. He also gave valuable tips where to go and what to do.
The apartment fits perfectly to the description and pictures. We enjoyed the details (e.g. sufficient towels, toilet paper and coffee). Some minor issues (e.g. not perfectly moving shower door or terrace door) could be fixed right away (7 friends all talented tool time guys). Aircon worked excellent and was required, as we have had fabulous weather.
I’d recommend to decorate the terrace a bit more (e.g. some plants), so that the terrace (which is big and enjoyable) lives up to the excellent interior design.
Great city, great location and great host - thumbs up.

Portugese Hospitality ai its Finest
The place was great. More importantly, Fatima and Joyce really stepped up and helped us through our stay at an obviously difficult time. I cannot recommend this property, and its owner, highly enough.

Nice place but older than it seems in the pictures and had some issues with the shower door not closing and the door to the bathroom in the master bath could not be shut. They did promise to fix it before the next people arrived

Perfect place for exploring Lisbon!
We were a group of 8 friends visiting Lisbon and this apartment couldn't have been more perfect for our stay. It's location in the heart of Alfama made it a great place for exploring the city. Also, Fatima was very helpful in arranging airport transfers and providing recommendations for things to do and see. Our visit was too short! We plan to visit again soon and will definitely rent either this or another one of the apartments Fatima owns!

Christmas holiday
This property was perfect for my children and their girlfriends. We each had a bathroom. The apartment was spacious with living and sleeping separated. Young ones could stay up late without disturbibing us old folks. Porch and and kitchen were great!

Great place to stay
This property is a perfect place from which to explore Lisbon. It is large, pleasant, comfortable and clean. The location is perfect for exploring Alfama and the rest of Lisbon

Quirky Apartment
Firstly, location wise the apartment is perfect. Extremely well maintained and clean. Having the addition of the outside seating is a real bonus as well. Communication with the management company was excellent. Only a few minor negatives. Although the apartment is set up for 8 people, there is not enough seating in either the lounge area or in the outside area for 8 people. These are only minor issues though and would highly recommend this apartment.

Stay in Alfama VRBO
The VRBO is located in the Alfama area of Lisbon which is very lively and central to everything. The apartment is over a restaurant and a very busy street so the 2 front rooms have a fair amount of noise through much of the evening. That factor is part of being in Alfama, so it didn't bother us too much. The back patio is the nicest part of the apartment. and is great for outdoor eating/socializing. What I felt to be lacking was the state of the VRBO amenities when we arrived there. There were no paper towels (and Daniel acknowledged that there should be some), no dishwasher detergent, even though we were required to run the dishwasher, no plastic wrap or foil or containers to put leftovers (it really defeats the purpose of staying at a place with a kitchen if you can't really store any food?), no shampoo, conditioner or bath gel in any of the bathrooms (which is STANDARD at any other VRBOs in which stayed in Portugal). What was the most bothersome is that when we were checking out, Daniel came to me and said - "2 towels are missing" rather than - " I need to inventory the towels and can only locate x number - perhaps I have overlooked 2 towels?" - had he looked in all the rooms, he would have seen the "missing 2 towels". Quite frankly, I ran a VRBO in the states for 10 years (all 5 star reviews). Never, ever would I suggest that someone took a towel from our home - after all - that is the cost of doing business. I think that because the original owners are no longer directly involved with the oversight of the property, it does not have the same level of detail as it did in the past. When I communicated with Fatima, the owner, she was always very professional and helpful. I always appreciated any feedback from my visitors when I ran my VRBO as that was the way I could improve the level of service to make future guest as comfortable as possible.

Fabulous apartment
This really is a fabulous apartment, very comfortable and clean, powerful showers and lots of hot water! The location is perfect for strolling around Alfama and also a very easy walk into the centre, easy and cheap to get a taxi if you don't want to walk. Communication with Fatima and her team was excellent both before and during our stay. Lots of helpful information provided. Thank you Fatima for a wonderful stay!
