Great location, helpful host, easy access to attractions and amenities. Comfortable stay with clean and well-equipped property.

A charming little place in the historical part of Salerno. Very convenient to get anywhere. There is a public elevator just in front of the main door which makes it easier to go up but there is an access via the stairs as well. The communication with Marco was smooth and friendly. Marco pointed out on the map everything we wanted to know. We had a great stay. Thanks a lot.

It was a lovely property in the old town. It was fab to explore nearby

Great location. Easy walk to churches, beach, train station, restaurants, boat tours and beautiful street art. Host, Marco was amazing. He was very helpful as this was my first time traveling in Italy. I would stay here again. It took the taxi driver a little bit to find the square for the public elevator. Marco made himself available via phone to give clear directions. As everywhere in Italy, there are some stairs to climb when you get out of the elevator and again to get up to the apartment. Not nearly as many as other places I stayed. Gracie Marco for making this place available!

The property is located in old town, a few blocks away from the major touristy parts. You can walk to about anywhere in the old town in under 10 minutes. The ferry terminal and main train station is about a 20 minute walk. The property is located directly across from a public elevator, which unfortunately was unavailable during our stay due to undergoing a major refit. It’s a decent climb up cobblestone streets if the elevator isn’t operating. Marco is a great host who was very informative and helpful during our stay. He was instrumental in us receiving lost luggage from the airline. We would stay here again.

The location of the apartment was a bit difficult to find, but after exploring Salerno it’s perfect. The apartment was well equipped, stocked, and comfortable. So many great shops and restaurants are nearby. Mini Pub 2.0 was our favorite! We spent 8 days in Salerno, traveled up to the Almafi Coast. I’m sure we did not even scratch the surface of what Salerno has to offer. So much history!! Marco was an excellent host. He came over to meet us upon arrival, and stopped over a couple times to check on us and see if we needed anything. Marco responded promptly to all messages and helped us with directions as well calling a taxi for us. Highly recommend if visiting Salerno!

We really enjoyed our stay in Salerno. The apartment was not that big but it was clean and everything we needed was offered and in good condition (towels etc.). We slept well, the host was really friendly and ready to help us at any time and cooking was very easy as well.
Sadly, we spotted some ants in the apartment from time to time.
Also, the apartment is located in the old town of Salerno, which is about 20 minutes away from the actual city center and train station by foot. Still, since there is a public elevator right outside the apartment, the town and beach are easily accessible.
Overall, the price of this apartment is very reasonable and Salerno is a nice place from which you can take great day trips to destinations like Capri (boat tours start right at the harbour of Salerno), Pompeji, Naples and other towns along the Amalfi Coast.

Smiling in Salerno
Absolutely lovely- all 4 of us slept well. Marco gave wonderful suggestions- take the boat to Chetera to swim! Directions to the apartment were confusing because of all the tiny streets but we figured out how to get around quickly. Highly recommend!

Practical, nice property
This is a bare-bones apartment. Clean, well stocked, comfortable. It's not fancy, but it is good for the price and location. It's within easy walking distance of several good shops and restaurants. Marco is friendly and helpful.

Authentic Centro Storico apartment
Agree with all of the previous reviews IVe read-this apartment requires some stamina to reach from the train station but couldn't have found a more thoughtful host! Marco was there waiting to greet us when we arrived, brought us an extra umbrella due to some spotty rain, offered to book us a cab when we thought we needed one to reach our restaurant to celebrate my birthday! The apartment is a good value for the money! May not meet everyones needs but was fine for us!

Very cute, comfortable, clean, and conveniently located
My friend and I stayed at Marco’s lovely VRBO. We had a wonderful time. The bed was SO comfortable and the futon was too! The futon was much bigger than we expected and 2 people could easily sleep on it if necessary. Marco was an excellent host. He came over to meet with us twice to give us directions and to organize a taxi ride for us. He also made additional phone calls on our behalf to find out information about how weather conditions would affect our ferry ride to Positano. He was so helpful. The apartment is within walking distance to the piazza della Concordia dock (where you can catch a ferry to various spots along the Amalfi coast). I highly recommend this cute apartment.

Salerno apartment
Marco deserves a 10, he went above and beyond to find a scuba diving activity for my daughter.
This apartment is what I imagine as old world Italian, given that, if you have issues with walking there could be a lot of steps. It's on a hill, and one way into the apartment has a lot of steps about 3-4 floors worth of steps. There is an elevator but it shuts done at 9:00 pm.
The apartment is very clean and the beds were comfortable. It has all the amenities you will need.
Marco, was attentive and checked to see if we needed anything a couple of times and was prompt to answer any questions I had.

Authentic Old Salerno Experience
Apartment was exactly as described, no surprises at all! Marco was very welcoming and had tourist maps and suggestions for local sights and tours at hand. Nicely located with a community elevator literally right outside the front door, easy access to the beach area and promenade, close to many restaurants and merchants. Excellent access to tours and ferries within a 15 minute walk and 25 minutes from the train station.
Would definitely stay here again and recommend Marco’s home for comfortable stay. Thank you for a unique and memorable experience.

Better than Advertised
My wife and I spent a week here in the spring, and it was simply lovely. This area of Salerno is known as Centro Storico and it's the oldest part of the city. So if you're looking for narrow cobblestone streets, as pictured, this is the place. The apartment is quiet and the neighborhood is safe and utterly charming, filled with gardens and churches dating back a thousand years. Centro Storico also has hundreds of boutique shops with friendly owners, and the modern outdoor mall is only about a 15-minute walk. At the end of the mall is the Salerno train station, where it's fast and easy to catch a train to Pompeii or Rome, etc. Marco, the owner of the apartment, is helpful and kind and lives across the hall. Salerno's only small beach is a 5-minute walk, as is the lovely promenade that faces the ocean where the locals stroll nightly. There are two harbors within walking distance where ferry boats are available to other sites along the Amalfi Coast such as the island of Capri. (There are plenty of private boats for rent for the more adventurous.) The only negative I can report is to be prepared for the steps. This neighborhood is very hilly and there are steps up and down everywhere, including to enter the apartment, and even a few steps inside the apartment connecting the kitchen to the living/eating area. On the plus side, everything is as advertised and if anything, the apartment is larger than it appears in the pictures. I certainly recommend it.

Clean, spacious, well equipped
Great apartment in the old city ... very comfortable, great restaurants in the area. ... Marco super responsive and helpful. A little hard to understand why the elevator which takes you up from street level to the old city level needs a "riposo" in the afternoon. Miss it and it is a trek up the stairs on one side or through the rabbit warren on the other😉Salerno is a great city to base out of for the area explorations. Clean, scenic & walkable.

very good location, the apartment was clean
The apartment is well situated to visit Salerno and the surrounding area. Close to the beach using the 'lift'. Shops and restaurants close. The owner was very helpful. The apartment was clean and ideal for our weeks holiday.

Great Urban Apartment near Amalfi Coast and South of Naples Sites of Interest
Was fortunate to have found this apartment in Salerno, just south of the Amalfi Coast region, and to have stayed here from April 14-24, 2016. It was very easy to secure the reservation and the communications with the owner (Marco) over the course of the many months prior to our arrival, were exceptional. Marco arranged to meet us and guided us with our rental car to an area near the apartment building. The easiest approach to the actual building is via a community elevator which goes from ground level to a walkway above the neighborhood that links with the street in front of the building entrance (there are also about 3 dozen stairs to take before getting to the actual apartment.) After arrival, Marco, who lives nearby, was exceptionally helpful with orienting us to the apartment and to giving us sightseeing, direction and map information during our entire stay. The apartment is very comfortable, with a bathroom and kitchen near the entrance, a living/eating area a step below the kitchen and a bedroom in the back which can be closed off from the living area to make it very dark and quiet for sleeping. It is very well-furnished with everything one would need during the stay and again, Marco was always available for answering questions. The apartment itself looks down over a narrow side street that leads to a very famous garden in Salerno and is not far from a main street, public park and theater. It is an easy walk to nearby markets or to a large grocery store the other direction and also to the central shopping district with many contemporary stores. The waterfront is a 10-15 minute walk and, if walking, the train station and boat dock are about 25 minutes away. This Salerno Apartment is a good choice to use as a base for many places, including Amalfi, Positano, Naples, Pompeii, Herculaneum and Caserta’s Royal Palace.

Great apartment with all the amenities!
My Husband and I stayed at Marco's apartment for 3 days while we explored the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii. The apartment is clean and well cared for with full kitchen, dining/living room and big bedroom with a comfy bed. The place is wee bit cold in the early spring but I imagine it's a welcome feeling when it gets very hot in the summer.
The apartment is well situated for daily excursions and is very close to the main centre. The train station is an easy 15 min walk and we enjoyed getting our cappuccino & breakfast from the many coffee shops along the way.
We were really happy to have the washing machine after over a week of backpacking.
Marco is a great host and is very helpful with advice and is only across the hall if you need him. :)

Cute Apartment, Great Location in Medieval Sector, Nice Host!
My husband and I had a nice week-long stay at Marco’s apartment. Marco is kind and extremely easy to communicate with. The apartment is spacious, clean and located right across from the communal lift, which was very convenient. The apartment is about a 20 minute walk from the train station and ferry terminal. We easily explored the Amalfi Coast, Pompeii, Pastum and Herculaneum from our Salerno base (but definitely be prepared for walking). The people of Salerno are great, the Medieval sector a treat to stay in and it was nice to be in a an Italian city filled with locals. Bring earplugs if you are there in the summer and need to sleep with the window’s open.
Logistically, if you decide to walk from the station to the apartment with your bags, I recommend walking along the waterfront since it is flat and there are areas with out cobblestones. Then follow the signs for Minerva’s Garden and “ascensore comunale” (or ask because the lift is not easy to find at first). Thank you Marco for a very nice stay!

Charming flat in an historic district
While searching for somewhere to stay for a few days in southern Italy we came upon the town of Salerno, some 70 kms. South of Naples. It seemed rather more quieter than the hurly-burly of Naples and ideal for making bus or boat trips trips to the Amalfi coast, Pompei etc. It turned out to be an excellent choice. The apartment is in the old town, a district that is undergoing extensive renovation and although at first sight it may appear to be rather shabby and run-down we have seldom felt less intimidated or apprehensive. Indeed, an abiding memory is the warmth and friendliness of the people and often we only had to stop for a minute or so before someone would ask if we needed help. The charming apartment, quiet and close to several shops selling various foodstuffs and a ten-minute walk from a small supermarket, was perfectly suited to our needs. The owners, Marco and Kayo, lived next door, and we could not have wished for kinder, helpful and more generous hosts. Salerno gave a real sense of the South and is situated in a fine bay and backed by the dramatic coastal mountain range.
However, I must add that Salerno can be a bit difficult for those with mobility problems although if you are no more than reasonably fit and equipped with a good walking stick you should be able to cope quite happily with most of the town.
In all, the apartment is most warmly recommended, as is a stay in Salerno as a whole.

Great apartment in a grea...
Great apartment in a great location. Everything is literally at your dorr step. Go down the comunal lift which is located on the door step, to the bake shop, the grocer, the butcher, the many restaurants and bars and ofcourse the beach. If you fancy a little traveling why not get on the many buses which are 100 meters away and take you to the Salerno train station, Vietri Sul Mare, Napoli, etc.
We really enjoyed our stay, perfect apartment for 5 people. The area is full of local people, which means better taste, cheaper prices and overall a great Italian experience.
We will definately be coming back to this area and this apartment. If you want to experience Italy at its best, this apartment is highly recomended!

"The flat we rented Marco...
"The flat we rented Marco for our stay is exactly as described in the announcement. It''s very well located, 5 minute walk from the heart of the historical centre. The high stairs is really no problem, you can get there by public lift or just walking straight along of the streets that lead to the historical centre.
Marco and his family have been very helpful and polite at all times.
The only little drawback we''ve found, which didn''t bother at all, was the lack of enough kitchen materials. Probably this was because we like cooking and we like to have a ''very'' well-equipped kitchen.
All in all, the flat is excellent, clean, spacious, airy, well-located. We would definitely go back."
