About this cottage rental
Mevagissey is one of the few remaining active Cornish fishing harbours. In the small town you can enjoy local shops, boutiques, and art galleries. There are cafes, pubs and restaurants, as well as places to stop for a cream tea, fish and chips or an ice-cream. There is also a handmade fudge shop.
A visit to the museum and aquarium on the harbour is recommended as is a trip on board the Seascan. Freshly caught fish are often available to buy from the quayside. There are many walks that can be enjoyed from the cottage, but most popular are those along the coastal path leading from the harbour.
Mevagissey is fortunate to have a cycle path that meanders to St. Austell and beyond. There is a ferry to take you to Fowey and a great variety of activities to suit all interests. Fishing trips and scenic boat trips are available from the harbour. If you enjoy watersports or a day out at the seaside, sandy beaches are close by. For garden enthusiasts many popular attractions are within easy reach, including; The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Caerhays Castle and The Eden Project. There are several National Trust properties. Walking and nature enthusiasts are spoilt for choice with the South West Coast path running practically past the door and many other short walks to explore that reveal an abundance of plant life and wildlife. Trips out to sea are readily available where visitors frequently encounter playful dolphins who love to swim close to the boughs of boats as they traverse the bay.
If you are interested in popular culture you will enjoy a visit to the nearby 18th century harbour village of Charlestown. One of Britain's most popular film locations, it was used in The Eagle Has Landed, The Pirates of The Caribbean, The Onedine Line - to name just a few and most recently the new Poldark series. Mevagissey’s very own tour boat Seascan, moored in Mevagissey harbour also features in the popular German television adaptation of Rosamund Pilcher’s novels’. Please visit Chorister’s Cottage own website for more details to this and links to local businesses.

The cottage is lovely and well-equipped, with a beautiful garden and comfortable beds. Easy walk to the harbour, shops, and restaurants. Highly recommended!

Garden needed some attention before any persons used it, family got bit several times. Didn't use it again. Out side toilet area needed a clean with neighbours weeds growing through the fence.
Needs a light on the landing due to poor or no light at all when going to the toilet at night. My wife fell over the concrete upstand adjacent to the parking area. She was very shaken
Location quiet, but you would expect that being next to a graveyard.
Smell of soot in main living room
No wardrobe space in second bedroom, only in main bedroom & children's room

Excellent stay in Mevagissey.
A well equipped cottage, centrally located and lovely. (Just needs some airers and places for wet towels - picky but honest).
We loved every minute and Jacqui was so helpful. We would definitely go back.

Another idyllic stay at Choristers Cottage
Our second stay at Choristers, the cottage just as lovely as we remembered. Superbly equipped with every implement you can think of. Very comfy and cosy with a lovely garden where we had a couple of meals from the (excellent) Chinese and Indian takeaways in the village only a 5 min walk away.
Highly recommended

Beautiful cottage in great location
What a lovely cottage, great location only 5 mins walk from the harbour. Lovely garden to sit out and have a meal or drink.
Very well equipped with everything you could ever need even down to a roll of sellotape which came in handy.
Such a cosy place to stay with very comfy beds.
The outside loo a great bonus when having a meal/drinks in the garden.
The best property we have stayed in so far in Cornwall, so glad we have already booked for September!

Clean and comfortable cottage in ideal location!
We had a wonderful stay in Choristers Cottage. It’s ideally located in a quiet spot only short stroll in to Mevagissey.
The beds were extremely comfortable with nice heavy duvets and crisp cotton bedding.
The wood burner was a lovely addition at this time of year. We lit it when we returned rather damp from the beach on a couple of occasions.
So much to see and do in this gorgeous part of Cornwall. A week really wasn’t long enough.

September Sun
We looked forward to a long awaited get away after working all through the Covid lockdown and Choristers Cottage did not disappoint. There was everything we could need, it was so well equipped. The cottage felt like an oasis of calm and it was the perfect getaway to relax and unwind. Our daily walk down to the harbour was delightful, the village had such a great vibe and we were lucky with near perfect weather. Without a doubt we will be back!

The cottage is well appointed with everything that you need and the owner is very friendly and responsive to any questions or concerns. Lovely Cottage
I spent a great week at this cottage in July with my wife and three kids. The cottage is very nicely decorated and it feels very homely. It is in a quiet and peaceful area which make a useful base for exploring this part of Cornwall. It is a short walk down the hill to the village and a beach is accessible with 10 minutes walk (although the terrain is not flat) and there are several others a short drive away. The kitchen is well equipped and the garden is a lovely place to have a meal or read a newspaper. Highly recommended.

It was great. Small and compact, but has everything you need in a quiet neighborhood next to the church.

Lovely cottage in a wonderful part of the world
We had a lovely week with our children in Mevagissey. The cottage is very comfortable with good sized bedrooms and comfortable beds. The town is very welcoming, great choice of places to eat. We kept going back to the Teacup tearoom, 5 mins walk from the cottage and the best cream tea we’ve ever eaten. We can’t wait to visit again - we’ll bring a dog next time as we felt left out - everyone seems to have a dog in Cornwall.

Retreat to Mevagissey
Great location, beautiful cottage. Sitting out on the terrace after a day’s activity was lovely, relaxing feature of this holiday.
3.0 / 5.0
Ideal situating for a warmly welcoming and sweet town. The parking it provided was wonderful - would not like to stay in Mevagissey without it!
The cottage needs more TLC. The sitting room is overcrowded by the vast coffee table and this makes it very hard to move around without disturbing fellow guests. It also prevents the log burner being used.
The master bedroom is lovely but the second and very small room could do with some means of hanging clothes.
Bedroom three is pleasant and adequate.
The stairs are very steep and the lovely old door handles throughout the property are difficult to open for older people, in fact I got trapped in bed2 until my friend got up and was able to release me! Both of these should possibly be mentioned in the write up to warn retirees and people with disabilities the cottage may not suit them.
Bedrooms should have waste bins and warnings should be given where utilising electric sockets causes problems.
Having owned a holiday rental myself I feel all the points I’ve made are fair.

Chorister's Cottage is a delightful home away from home. Cosy, comfortable and close to Mevagissey's picturesque harbour, restaurants, pubs and shops.
We parked two cars on the property's drive space and enjoyed the outside area which proved to be a sheltered suntrap.
Inside the kitchen facilities were more than adequate with comfortable space to move around and prepare food. The surprisingly large dining table gives ample room for six people to eat or play games (found in the sitting room). The sitting room settees and chair were great for relaxing with conversation or watching TV or films.
Two bedrooms were spacious and the third had limited room around the double bed. All were comfortable and enabled a good night's rest for all six of us staying. The bathroom was clean and provided shower and bath options in a fairly small room. No en-suite facilities which would have been handy. There is an outside toilet if needed lol.
Would definitely like to stay here again.

Lovely cosy cottage with a good well finished interior, and wood burner in the spacious dining room. Having 2 / 3 parking spaces and a nice garden is a definite bonus in Meva.
We would certainly recommend Choristers Cottage, and would be very happy to stay again.
