I think the most positive thing about the hotel was the location. It was actually quite close to the motorway.
I don’t really know where to begin. I have also thought long and hard before leaving a negative review because there are some factors that are out of their control.
The hotel is on the former border between east and west Germany. The need for this property probably disappeared in the 1990s. There are some interesting photographs downstairs that show the place in its full glory back then, when it would’ve been a very desirable place to stay, but those days are long past.
Where to begin? The rooms are tired. The bathrooms are tired. The whole property is tired. It needs either a refurbishment or a lot of TLC.
I was really annoyed that my details for checking were pinned up on a board in reception. I expect privacy when I stay in a hotel. I do not expect my name to be on a whiteboard.
I didn’t stick around for breakfast. I just didn’t fancy eating in the place.
The grounds are shabby, there is an element of disrepair about the building, but what said it all for me was the two guys drinking bottles of beer outside the main entrance.
Overall, I just didn’t feel safe and was glad to leave.

Room spacious, near highway, which is good if you are passing by and need rest. The surrounding of the hotel is good, you can enjoy a walk in nature.
Rooms quite outdated, decor from 80s-90s. That would be fine if the appointments were at least matching, e.g. each bed cover or linen was of either different color or type of textile, glasses were not matching, etc. it looked sloppy. Other details like missing shower curtain or lack of non-transparent curtains was not deal-breaking, but quite surprising. Unfortunately, the worst part was that room was not really clean. Visible dust and litter in the cupboards and behind the furniture (sofa, bed), animal hair on armchairs. I don't mind the old furniture if it was at least clean.

beautiful building in a fabulous location
little bit dated but that doesn’t bother us

The hotel was not really open for all the facilities, perhaps a knock on effect of Covid restrictions.
The reception was manned by a lovely man but he was also the chef so dinner was restricted to when he was able to leave reception
The area is lovely but you need your own transportation
I am sure if all the facilities where open and fully staffed the experience would have been very different

Nice and quiet surroundings. Super for hiking and walking. Situated admist pretty scenery with forest and lake (s). Helpful staff
Its a bit behind the times, but all in all okay. Amid covid ( and far away from travelling for vacation) no reason to complain about missing amenities like bar, restaurant or at least a little shop/ vending machine nearby
