VRBO'S RECENT CHANGES NOW REQUIRE THIS CUMBERSOME EXPERIENCE
We simply need to learn about your gathering to ensure our home will meet your needs.
Please ignore Vrbo's language about no refunds... their system won't remove it. The rental agreement we both will sign will be in force and includes our standard cancellation policy, which we provide upon request -- and always before a payment is submitted.
A word about our Rates. Vrbo's format of their Rates section makes it impractical for us to input every possible rate combination for 365 days a year. The rates that Vrbo automatically provides are sometimes incorrect. We provide exact quotes in our responses. Pricing for the Pontoon Boating Pkg is provided when we respond to inquiries. An administrative fee of 3% applies to Vrbo reservations as well as the State of Michigan 6% "Use Tax."
From June through late August we are only able to accept 7-night, Sunday to Sunday reservations.

Welcome to our 5,200ft², 11-BR, 12-BA, wheelchair friendly Blue Spruce Lodge on 340 feet of lake frontage on Stone Lake!
We designed the Blue Spruce Lodge to create one of the most comfortable, feature-filled, accessible lakefront vacation homes available in southwest Michigan.
It incorporates over 8 years of excellent ideas from Guests who have stayed in one of our 3 other Stone Lake vacation homes. Please see below bullet point list of features.
Our policy of following the Golden Rule in Guest relations has paid off - 99% of these 200+ Guest Reviews give our properties, and us, VRBO's highest 5-star rating.
FEATURES OF THE BLUE SPRUCE LODGE:
- 5,200ft² of finished living space with knotty pine tongue and groove planking covering all walls and ceilings (giving it a very warm and inviting "lodge" feeling) with one exception: Special sound absorbing materials and construction techniques have been used in the BR ceilings on the walkout level to maximize their sound-deadening properties.
- Zero steps or sloped path to access its private 80-foot wide sandy beach with a gentle slope into the water. Safety fencing with child-proof gates separates the house from the beach and shoreline to give parents peace of mind.
- A full-size fridge is located under the deck just steps from the beach to keep cold beverages conveniently nearby (there are 4 refrigerators at the house). Say goodbye to the hassle of keeping coolers stocked with ice.
- 11 BRs & 12 Full BAs - with 3 of the BR-BA suites on the main floor and 8 BR-BA suites on the walkout level.
- The 5 wheelchair friendly BR-BA suites have 3x5 showers, drop down grab bars on both sides of the commode, knee room 36" counter sinks, and generous floor space for expanded maneuvering room -- enough space to use a Hoyer Lift. Bonus for parents of toddlers: These 5 large showers make a great spot for Pack-N-Plays at night.
- A Bruno chairlift makes both the walkout and main levels accessible to everyone.
- All 11 BRs have Queen beds w/ comfy mattresses & 3-inch thick memory foam/gel toppers. Five of the BRs also have a Twin Bunkbed, with two of the BRs having both a Twin Bunkbed AND a Full Bunkbed -- super sleeping area for a cousins' slumber party.
- The Kitchen opens to the Great Room w/ 2 full size fridges (both with ice-makers), 2 stoves, 2 ovens, 2 dishwashers, and a generous pantry cabinet. There's a 3rd full size fridge in the Gathering-Game Room to keep beverages cold and conveniently nearby.
- The wide-open Great Room has a vaulted ceiling & includes the Kitchen, Dining Area and a Gathering Area. The dining area features a 60" x 120" custom solid wood dining table that may be separated into two square tables w/ seating for 24. With barstools at the adjacent Bar-Buffet Counter and sofa seating area, 38 people may be seated at one time for meals all in one space.
- The Great Room features a U-shaped Conversation Nook with comfy seating for 8 that is adjacent to the dining & kitchen area; it has a 75" smart 4K TV.
- At 885ft² the main level Gathering-Game Room at the far west end of the house is generously proportioned and features a 13-foot vaulted ceiling, slate pool table, ping pong table, basketball arcade game, 12-foot HD projection TV w/ high-end Klipsch home theater speaker system (fills the entire space with distortion-free sound -- even at higher volumes) , full-size fridge, 7 sofas each over 7-feet long, plus Bistro tables. A full BA is just down the hallway.
- The Gathering-Game Room features a very cool "Kid's Play Loft" along at one end that's 4-feet above the floor and measures 5-feet wide x 29-feet long. Access is via a kid's-size staircase, plus a fun slide, and it has IKEA kid's play tents & rugs with hopscotch, a house, a town - kids should bring toys! It's a great place for the little ones to have their own private kid's-only space in the Gathering-Game Room -- that's still fully visible to Mom & Dad. Our strategy for this space: The more active the kids are during the day, the earlier to bed and the sounder they sleep. :) Also, it's a wonderful platform for event speakers, worship teams, family skits, etc.
- The Gathering-Game Room has a custom sound deadening wall to acoustically separate it from the rest of the house. This 9.5-inch thick wall utilizes 4 layers of 5/8-inch drywall glued together with special sound absorbing adhesive between the layers of drywall, mounted on alternating 2x4 studs using 2x6 sill plates, with the wall cavity stuffed with 6 inches of sprayed cellulose insulation, with both sides of the wall then topped with 3/4 inch solid pine planking.
- The bedroom suites also feature sound-deadening walls with extra thick 5/8-inch drywall, sound absorbing adhesive, and insulation in the wall cavities -- all under a layer of 3/4-inch knotty pine planking. The ceilings in the walk-out level BRs have custom sound-deadening materials.
- The cozy TV Room on the Walk-Out level facing Stone Lake has 2 loveseats plus sofa - with a 75" 4K Smart TV.
- The main level Covered Deck measures over 1,000ft² and has outstanding views of Stone Lake - just 15ft away - and features 4 dining tables w/ 30 comfortable "springy" padded deck chairs, bar stools.
- Comcast Xfinity's fastest "Extreme" broadband internet & custom Wifi Mesh network w/ multiple Access Points results in strong Wifi throughout the house, deck & grounds.
- A fun playscape for the little ones is near the beach at the east end of the property.
- A height-adjustable basketball hoop right at the house.
- 15+/- bikes - a mix of adult and kid's sizes - for Guests to enjoy on the trails in our private 47 acres of woods and along the quiet streets of Cassopolis.
- Concrete driveway parking for 4-6 cars right at the house at the walkout level, with additional off-street parking for 8-10 more cars. Barrier-free entry to both levels of the house; a Bruno chairlift connects the walkout level with the main level.
- Brand new HVAC system (2 units actually) provides heat and central AC to all 5,200ft² of living space, with 5 zones to maximize one's comfort.
- Two super high-capacity instant hot water heaters utilizing a re-circulation pump provide a near-instant, never-ending supply of hot water.
- A Firepit overlooks Stone Lake and has ample seating.
- Boat dock has barrier-free, level access from the concrete parking pad just 45 feet from the house.
- A 25-foot Pontoon Boating Pkg is available - the Pkg includes 10 gals. of fuel, orientation session, 9 sit-on-top kayaks (7 adults, 2 child), and a 5'x17' floating "Lily Pad."
For large gatherings with Guests with mobility challenges and other special needs, the generous size and accessible accommodations of the Blue Spruce Lodge will make memories to last a lifetime.

This property was perfect for our 24 family members ranging from 4 to 67! Perfect little private beach for sandcastles and sunbathing. Right on the water making it a perfect spot to kayak, swim and fish. The opportunity to have access to a pontoon boat all week was a huge plus for our water loving family.
Plenty of rooms and bathrooms (several, handicapped accessible).Grocery stores, bait shops, restaurants all close by.Ted was very quick to answer any questions or concerns. We would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone..and may have to plan a return trip soon!

We had a fantastic time! Plenty of space for grandkids (4 ages 3 - 1), enough space for adults to do adult things without disturbing the kids. We all had a delightful time and will look into this property again! Highly recommended!

Our family of 48 people stayed at the Blue Spruce and the Woodlands. This was perfect for everyone ranging from 5 months to 90 years. The Woodlands is older and cozy with lots of separate spaces. The Blue Spruce was great for the little ones with lots of room to play and tons of safety features. We spent lots of time on the beach that had ample toys and water devices. The big front porch was perfect for evenings. Kids loved the gameroom. There was more than enough to do to keep us all busy all week. The owners were very attentive and helpful with whatever we needed. We would absolutely stay here again!

HIGHLY recommend this lodge for any group looking to have a magical reunion, family celebration, or retreat. The house is gorgeous, clean, with every amenity you can imagine! Gorgeous water views from every room. Bikes, kayaks, playground equipment, indoor game room...Something for everyone. Would absolutely stay there again and again!

Excellent property and great communication from Ted, Brenda and Christian. The home met our expectations and was exactly what we needed for a large gathering. Plenty of room for the kids to play in the gathering room while the adults could enjoy conversating in the kitchen/dining area. We are already discussing a future visit in the summer where we could enjoy the lake, trails and play field

We really enjoyed the game room, there were activities for everyone to enjoy. We also loved the huge dining table. Our whole family could sit around it and have a special dinner for our parent's anniversary.

This is a very nice property for a large group. Plenty of rooms and bathrooms. Nice amenities in very good condition. Comfortable mattresses. It was also very clean, which is much appreciated. The view of the lake is gorgeous!

Our stay was pretty much perfect. The property is awesome and worked wonderfully for our yearly family gathering. If the property is available for next year we will book again. We lucked out with beautiful weather.

We held our 2023 family reunion at Stone Lake (requiring multiple lodges to house everyone) and couldnt be more impressed with all the amenities the owners (Ted and Brenda) were able to offer. The Lodge was both beautiful and accomodating for everyone. THE youngest enjoyed the beach, playgrounds and nature trails by day and the game room to play in on days the weather wasnt cooperating. The eldest loved the easy access bathrooms and chair lift to allow them access to areas they would not have been able to reach due to mobility restrictions. All enjoyed the lake, pontoon rides to get ice cream, bonfires by night and unlimited indoor and outdoor seating. Overall a great place to visit! The owners were very easy to communicate with and quickly responded to any questions or concerns we had. Looking forward to visiting the Blue Spruce Lodge again in the future! Great job Ted and Brenda!

The Blue Spruce was a great place for our reunion. We had 36 people stay at this house. Everyone was happy with the accommodations. The beach with the kayaks, Lilly pad and cabanas was perfect for a group with kids from 3-12 years old. They will have memories of a very fun time!

Our group of friends really enjoyed our stay at the Blue Spruce Lodge. Clean, well thought out space and amenities that were enjoyed by all! Lots of places to gather, dine and relax with a big group. The beach was our favorite place for kiddos to enjoy on a beautiful weather weekend!
Thanks so much again for sharing your place and great communication! Cheers!

We had the Lodge and Log Cabin for our leadership retreat of 14 people. The properties are even better than the photos! The finishes, linens, furniture - even the decor - are all top notch. The owners are available by text/call and responded immediately to a question. They also recommended great places to eat in the area. Already planning our next trip back!
One other note: The owner actually texted us to ask for OUR permission to allow work on a patio project near our cabin - HIS OWN PROPERTY. This project wasn’t even on our cabin property. Incredibly kind of Ted!

The property was exactly as advertised and very clean! Having a bathroom in every room makes it the perfect home for an extended family vacation. We had 24 people in the house with ages that ranged from 1 to 85 and everyone in the house was able to stay occupied even when all of the typical outdoor activities (such as hopping in the lake and playing on the playset) were not an option due to the cold weather. We definitely plan to book again during warmer weather when we can take advantage of the lake!
For parents: There are built in gates at the top and bottom of all stairs which made the stay that much safer for the little ones.

Our extended family stayed and celebrated Christmas. We had enough rooms and bathrooms for the large group. The kitchen was fully stocked. The dining table was large enough to fit 24. The Great Room had Pool table, ping pong, basketball game, a loft with children’s play houses, a child slide and enough couches, benches and side tables to accommodate our big group. The hosts were great to work with and the property is well cared for. We will definitely come back again.

We rented this house for a long weekend with family. 24 people. Lots of space to come together, but enough bedrooms for privacy. Just perfect - so comfortable! And host was always helpful & quick to respond. Couldn’t ask for a better experience!

We had nine siblings and their spouses for our three day vacation. The bedrooms each with a private bath was great. The kitchen and recreation room was spacious and well furnished. We had a great time.

This property is well suited for large gatherings. Multiple rooms with their own bathrooms and has a ton of space.

I was concerned about this trip because our family numbers 30 now and I needed to provide a reason for them all to want to drive 4 to 6 hours. We have 9 kids ages 1 to 8. Judging by their squeals of fun, they all had a great time. The beach was big enough for all but small enough for the moms to watch. The young adults relaxed on the boat, played games and got to know each other as did their parents. One grandma needed the handicapt room although there are 2 rooms. So my summary is that the lodge has something to offer any large family. That was my goal and Ted and Brenda seemed anxious to see that it was met.

Stayed here with a large group of friends and their kids for a friends vacation. We cannot stop saying how much we enjoyed our time at the Blue Spruce Lodge! The house was clean and well-equipped for meals and entertainment. The various common areas were wonderful, and the porch was great for a pleasant morning coffee and breakfast. The kids had a great time on the beach and kayaks as well as the adults. And the pontoon boat was so fun, we made sure to take advantage of daily trips to the ice cream shop! We stayed for 4 days, but that was not enough, and we look forward to staying again for the full week in the future!

Very enjoyable experience. Plenty of spaces to gather large groups together and also smaller spaces for small groups. Very clean and well kept. We also added the boating package and enjoyed quiet excursions around the lake and fish. Docked across the lake at the public pier and got ice cream, then boated back. Very fun!

Ted and Brenda's place is fabulous. It is immaculate in cleanliness and so well thought out with very amenity you could want. The large kitchen was so great. There is an abundance of seating for large groups, the huge screen porch looking over the water is amazing. We loved the ability to gather together as a large group, or break off into smaller groups as desired. We had a wonderful time and would love to come back next year!

We used the Blue Spruce Lodge for a recent leadership retreat. This venue was perfect! Each bedroom had it's own bathroom which was highly appreciated for this business function. The game room and covered fire pit area provided ample laughter and relaxation. The wi-fi was very strong and supported 12 of us to simultaneously run zoom calls with international colleagues without issue.
The host went above and beyond to provide local resources and recommendations for our group that greatly aided in the planning process. We are very grateful for the connections they helped us make.
The view is beautiful and the location was convenient. I highly recommend the Blue Spruce Lodge not just for the amazing property but also for the great service you get from the hosts.

We had a weekend stay here for 30+. This house is amazing! Sooo many bedrooms, bathrooms, and two large open areas. You won’t regret booking it.

Everything was as advertised. The kitchen was well outfitted for meal preparation for a large group. (We were 27 in all) Lovely small town within walking distance. Small well stocked grocery in town and larger ones 20 minutes away. Excellent accessibility for anyone with mobility impairments. No complaints from anyone of the 27 guests. Host communicated effectively and efficiently. If you're a movie lover and enjoy a theatre experience, you will love the game room projector.

This property was perfect for a large family gathering. There was plenty of space for us to eat and lounge as a group, but also enough bedroom suites for each family to have a quiet place to rest. We look forward to staying again!

This is the most amazing and beautiful place with an incredible view. We gathered here for a family reunion in November to celebrate my parents 60th wedding anniversary. We had 18 adults and 6 children and it was perfect. So many things for everyone of all ages to do (inside and out) and lots of room to spread out. Ted and Brenda were excellent hosts and this property is exactly as shown. I highly recommend it.

This place served us well. The large dining space, game room with six couches, great deck, nicely stocked kitchen utensils, three refrigerators... all help make our stay wonderful.

We are a group of nearly 50 people. We have been doing family trips for decades. We all agreed this was the best place we stayed. We rented Blue Spruce and Woodlands. They were very clean, photos were accurate, location and properties were fantastic. Everything you need for a week at the lake.

We had a great time during our 1 week stay at the Blue Spruce. Our group ranged in ages from 3 to 81 and we had around 26 people staying there. We loved how the lodge is designed to host large parties--a bathroom in every bedroom is a huge plus, as was the ADA features for certain rooms that really allowed our older set to enjoy the house. The house has something for all ages--the kids loved the playground, the lilly pad and the boats. The teenagers enjoyed independent time on the bikes and on kayaks. The adults enjoyed all of it, plus plenty of time and space to relax. The kitchen is well laid out and stocked. We loved how it opens to the eating space. We also loved the covered deck for meals and relaxing. We also made use of the nearby trails for exercise. We had such a great time that most of our group simply stayed at the house enjoying all the features. I highly recommend this house for your large group. The owners were extremely responsive any time we had a question or something was not working. They fixed it right away.

The place is huge and the lake is gorgeous. However there aren't any tvs in the bedrooms. The owners appear to be cheap. Also cleaning could definitely be improved. Our feet were filthy after walking around without shoes, I'm not sure if bedding linen is cleaned and changed in between guests so please speak up when you arrive. All was going well until we checked out 45 minutes late trying to clean after a large family of 40 and was insulted by owner stating we left their home in a wreck and stole their toiletries and household items such as trash bags, dish liquid and toilet paper. This was very insulting considering we used all of the items, we didn't steal them. In conclusion, please make sure that you deep clean their home because their housekeeping wants it spotless or they will try to keep your deposit. Don't accidentally leave any spills or trash anywhere because she is watching and will let the owner know to deduct from the deposit. Best of luck.

The property has been created for larger families and was absolutely perfect. The up north cabin feel from the tongue and groove walls, pine doors and every other Lakehome touch you could want. The kitchen and entertainment areas are wide open and extremely comfortable. Indoor and out. And you couldn’t possibly get any closer to the beautiful views of the lake. Nearly all of the bedrooms are completely separated from the common areas which is great for noise separation. Everyone of my family very much enjoyed the stay. Thank you again Ted and Brenda!

We had our family Christmas gathering here & everyone was so impressed with the Blue Spruce Lodge! It was beautiful! Spacious, clean, and plenty of kitchen supplies for a big group to cook and enjoy time together. The view of the lake from the giant deck is amazing and we had so much fun in the game room! We will definitely be back!
