Private, quiet location with so much to do in the area.

The property is great. As others have said could do with a little TLC in outside area but still a great property and great value for money

This is the best self-catering property we have stayed in. It is comfortable, well equipped, quiet at night, totally private, within walking distance of shops and restaurants but also has many local walks that take you into the countryside. It is also easy to drive to the main road to take you further afield. We could walk our dogs in a nearby field, which was very handy.

Nice sized 3 bedroom cottage. Good sized kitchen which served as our hub. Decent sized frint room.with log burner was very welcome in the evening for relaxing.
Overalll house heating was good and hot water was more than ample.

We had a great 2 week stay at this property. Cottage was clean, tidy and had everything we needed. Very good location for exploring the Highlands. No complaints at all.

A lovely cottage, really comfortable and well decorated. Log burning stove for added coziness in winter. Good kitchen with all the things you need.
Close to Co-op and train station.

Quiet location but only a short walk to the shops. Kingussie has an excellent butcher and cheese shop as well as a Co-op for groceries.
The house has lots of space for us all to cook or relax, especially with the fire lit!

Excellent cottage, warm and welcoming. We really enjoyed our stay, and would happily return.
Lovely area to explore.

This was my third time staying in the cottage. The owner continued to update rooms and enhance the experience. I definitely recommend this cottage.

Perfect situated for walks in the Cairngorm National Park.

Excellent location and a base to operate from, would love to come back. Really enjoyed the hills and the lakes and well equipped house full of essentials. Lovely beds to come back to after a long hot day, just wished it was colder so we could have used the fire!

We had a great stay. We enjoyed the nature and we had a day of the Highland Games.

When the weather is nice, you can sit outside and watch the sunset over the Highlands. View of mountains from the kitchen is great. Short walk to town.
A little hard to find. When you come to the end of the street there will be a sign to the cottage. Just drive up the hill.

Stonybrae Cotrage is a delightful place. The weather was perfect for sitting at the outside table and the cottage was well placed within the village. We enjoyed our stay very much.

We had a wonderful stay in this cottage. The location was perfect since it was central to all of our destinations while we were there. We had some trouble with the hot water but we discussed it with the owner. We would stay here again.

A lovely cottage near the centre of the town (you can walk from the station). It has three comfortable bedrooms, plenty of amenities and a fine view from the kitchen over Strathspey to (in April, anyway) snow-covered mountains. Kingussie is a pleasant, friendly town with a strong sense of community. Go to the ‘hub’ to find out what’s going on. Ed, the local photographer with a gallery in the main street, has recommendations for walks. Glen Banchor, just the other side of Newtonmore, is a particularly beautiful one: vast and, apart from the river, silent (and with a place to park at the foot of the glen). I enjoyed haggis and chips at Joe’s. There’s also a comprehensive bookshop with a large section of books on Scotland and a specialist cheese shop. We’ll be back!

lovely cottage on out skirts of village everything you could want in walking distance and loads to do

The house is set up on the hill surrounded by trees. A lovely little hideaway but so close to the town itself. It is also well situated for exploring the Cairngorms, Aviemore etc.
Bedrooms were very comfortable, bathrooms well appointed and clean. The kitchen had everything and more we could have asked for to help us enjoy our weekend stay. The living room was so comfortable and the log burner threw out an amazing amount of heat. What a relaxing, comfortable stay. We will be back.

From the moment we stepped in the door, the house felt homely! Gordy and Hilary had added some really lovely touches for Christmas! We had a beautifully decorated tree and some decorations throughout the house. It warmed really quickly considering it was -4ºC when we arrived and it stayed warm through the freezing days after Christmas! The snow on Boxing Day was really the icing on the cake (thanks for arranging that Gordy! 🤣). The driveway was a little interesting when it all iced up but we could have parked at the bottom if needed.
Everything was provided that we needed and Gordy was on hand if needed. The Co-Op is really handy for those little bits that you need and only a 5 minute walk away. The path along the railway takes you to the beach at the Spey which is lovely. The garden is secure for dogs but be aware of the rabbits that frequent the area if your dog loves to hoover up rabbit droppings! They are plentiful!
We love Kingussie and the house is perfectly positioned in the village. Don't miss a trip to the butcher (D. Gilmour) as their scotch pies are amazing!!
We'll be back soon!! Thanks Gordy and Hilary for letting us stay in your fabulous house!

A lovely couple of weeks in the village of Kingussie. Cottage was comfortable and had everything you needed.

Enough space even for a family of six - and there is everything you need as well! The house is within walking distance from the local Coop (open from 6 a. m. to 10 p.m.) and from restaurants, cafés and take-aways, but at the same time it is quiet and feels very private, as the trees shelter you from the town around you. There is a spacious garden too.

Perfect location
The house was absolutely perfect for a lovely yuletide getaway! I can't think of a more perfect place to spend a "big" birthday we had such a lovely time I would highly recommend the house and Kingussie for a great Highland experience. Hosts Gordon and Hilary very helpful and kind definitely worth our 9 hour drive to get there!

We had a very relaxing family break at Stoneybrae last week. The cottage is very cosy and warm and has all the amenities you could want, and has the added benefit of not being overlooked. Kingussie is a great location to stay with short drives to so many activities and attractions close by, but also has plenty to offer. We can certainly recommend Stoneybrae cottage for a stay.

Sadly our stay here was rather disappointing. When we arrived we were not able to get into the property as we had been given the wrong keysafe code. It took us an hour and then fortunately we guessed the correct code! We were unable to contact the host. The property itself was lovely on the inside but certainly not as clean as we would have hoped. The shelves were dusty and the window sills covered in dead midges. However it was well equipped and warm.
The garden too was disappointing. On arrival everything felt very unkempt. There were tall nettles and thistles growing, some of the fencing was broken. Some of these areas wwre6 boarded up with wood with nails sticking out. Also the outdoor furniture and steps were absolutely disgusting as they were covered in hardened bird excrement rendering them unusable.
I finally managed to contact the host who did apologise for giving us the wrong code but went on to say t
