Villa Yalenia is a luxury villa on the island of Lefkada. Built on the water’s edge amongst beautiful trees and lush vegetation its location could not be more magnificent. The spectacular scenery and natural beauty of the villa make it the most exclusive property on the island. The owners are a local family of Civil Engineers and Home Designers with a flair for style and design. The family villa has been renovated to the highest standards while keeping comfort and traditional Greek island design in mind. The villa is discretely hidden by mature trees and glorious wildflowers ensuring that guests have privacy whilst still enjoying the superb views across the water whether from the easy armchairs on the terrace, the sunbeds on the decking of the swimming pool or on the lush lawn right by the water . Villa Yalenia is ideal for both families and couples. Boasting its own private jetty and with a private motorboat included in the price of your holiday, getting around the island, going shopping or finding your own secluded beach couldn’t be easier. Should you prefer to bring your own yacht or hire one during your holiday you can easily drop anchor in the bay and row the short distance to the jetty. Visit Villa Yalenia for an unforgettably luxurious holiday on the undiscovered island of Lefkada.
Upon your arrival we will be waiting to welcome you to the villa. We provide a generous welcome hamper so there’s no need to worry about going out shopping when you arrive – just immediately unwind and relax in the beautiful surroundings. Your Welcome Hamper includes fresh fruit, fresh salad items, locally baked bread, cheese, ham, jams, cakes and biscuits, orange juice, soft drinks, wine and water.
Villa Yalenia has been carefully designed as a spacious and comfortable holiday home leaving guests feeling refreshed by its bright and airy design. The ground floor has the most wonderful garden and sea views through large French windows. With space for all your guests around the large dining table and the huge comfy sofas set around the fireplace it is the perfect place to gather on cooler evenings. The modern kitchen leads directly off the dining area and is fully equipped with everything a comfortable home needs. The junior suite, with bathroom and WC, is also located on the ground floor and has its own access to the terrace and gardens. The wooden staircase makes an interesting centre piece to the ground floor and leads to three further bedrooms on the upper floor. The first two large bedrooms are both doubles with en-suite bathrooms. The impressive 43sq.m master bedroom has a large sitting area with comfy sofas, a king size bed and walk in closet. The Italian tiled en-suite is made complete with its own Jacuzzi. Coco-Mat mattresses will ensure a restful night’s sleep – Coco-Mat is a Greek company committed to the manufacturing of the “best beds in the world in the most sustainable way possible”. The mattresses consist of multiple layers of 100% natural materials and provide the optimal elastic support to the human body, without the use of metal springs. The master bedroom with its large wooden balcony for enjoying the views over the gardens and out to sea will be one of the most popular rooms in the villa.
Renovated with love and care
Villa Yalenia was originally built by the family’s grandfather and has been renovated with loving care in his memory. The design was accomplished with the utmost comfort and quality in mind and then decorated with the greatest care. The owners’ pride and love for their grandfather is evident in every corner. All interior wooden surfaces are handmade of solid oak. The downstairs’ floors are made of aged marble from Crete. The wooden panelled ceiling is in keeping with the traditional Lefkadian ceilings of the island and is a trademark of the local architectural style. The wooden staircase is the masterpiece of the house having been designed to give the feeling of one level flowing into the other and giving the illusion of a single open space. All bathrooms are designed exclusively in Italian style and the floors and walls are lined with Italian tiles or marble. The showers are all walk-in and protected with safety glass. In the kitchen, the cabinets are made of oak and the worktop is solid granite. On the upper floor, the wooden terrace and pergola are made of cherry wood and shaded with a wicker mesh. The house is partially lined with stone and painted using natural pastel colours which is characteristic of the houses in the old town of Lefkada. The terraces are paved in stone and the small covered seating area in the garden has natural stone seating.
The newly built in 2016, sauna room is separate to the main house. Located in a cool room furnished with comfy sofas and flat screen TV, our sauna room is the perfect place to relax.
The swimming pool is 50sq.m with a depth of 1.60m. Set just 3m from the water’s edge, swimming will be a wonderful mix of the lush green of the garden and the brilliant blue of the Mediterranean. The pool area is equipped with sun umbrellas, sun loungers and an outdoor shower. Guests will spend long lazy afternoons lying in the sun, enjoying a refreshing drink and taking in the gorgeous view across the sea to Tranquil Bay and Nidri.
There is a private car park for villa Yalenia, which can hold up to six cars, opposite the gate to the house.
Lefkada, an island full of culture and Greek spirit
Lefkadians, being warm people and ‘full of life’, always welcome their guests in a very hospitable way. Throughout history Lefkada was a crossroads of West and East and the Lefkadians have had the advantage of many cultural influences. Despite these many influences they have still maintained their Greek identity. Principally this is due to the fact that even though Lefkas is an island, the ‘islanders’ were never ‘cut off’ as they are linked to the mainland by a bridge.
Lefkada, with an area of 295 sq km, is the fourth largest of the Ionian Islands and has a coastline of 117 km. The easy access to the island across a floating bridge has made it a favourite with holidaymakers. The floating bridge is an excellent feat of engineering and can raise both ends and swivel round on its axis to allow yachts and fishing boats through the channel to the main harbour and down the East coast. This lovely undiscovered island offers fabulous unspoilt beaches all along its coastline and is a boater’s paradise with its multitude of satellite islands. Some of the best known beaches are Porto Katsiki, Kathisma, Pefkoulia. The Prinigponisa satellite islands are Scorpios, owned by the late Aristotle Onassis, Meganisi, Sparti and Madouri owned by the late national poet Aristotle Valaoritis.
The island of Lefkas or Lefkada is lesser known as a holiday destination to a wider audience in comparison to neighbouring Corfu, Paxos and Cephalonia. This of course has ensured that it has maintained much of its character and traditional Greek identity. There are plenty of attractions even for the more discerning traveller. The impressive green landscape offers many beautiful walks for all levels and there is a very good book that can be bought locally with tracks to follow. The long white beaches of the west coast are perfect for sun worshippers and family days out, and the crystal clear waters of the small coves on the east coast are a snorkeler’s paradise. Beautiful old churches dotted around the island, museums in Lefkas Town and archaeological sites close by are great for those looking for a bit of culture whilst on holiday. Lefkada also hosts one of the most famous International Folklore Festivals in Greece during the month of August.

We've just come back from a sensational 2 weeks at Villa Yalenia.
The most perfect villa in the most perfect location, set beautifully amongst the trees on Tranquil Bay. We were wonderfully looked after by the property manager Lilias, who couldnt do enough for us (a special mention for the wonderful welcoming hamper!) and who had been a reassuring source of information and help during an uncertain time of late! Couldnt fault it and cant wait to come back one day!

what a sensational villa. Right on the waterfront just a stones throw from secluded Tavernas or the bustling town and all accessible by your own boat. Villa is exceptional. One of our best holidays by far.

Our family spent two glorious weeks at Villa Yalenia. The first week with our children and the second with friends. Upon our arrival in the evening we were met by Niki the owner and Lilias the property manager. The welcome we received was exceptional- the refrigerator well stocked. The house is beautiful and very family friendly and the terraced gardens were a constant visual delight. The expansive outdoor seating and dining areas were wonderful in the evenings. The boat was incredibly fun. We had rented a car in Athens and drove 5.5 hours to Villa Yalenia and only moved the car three times in two weeks. We took the boat everywhere. We asked about getting a chef to cook one night each week to celebrate a birthday and the owner Niki was our chef! With the help of Lilias and her son Patrick we feasted on a spectacular seven course dinner. It was truly the best vacation we’ve ever had!

From the moment we arrived to be greeted warmly by the owner and Lilias, the manager, until we left we felt absolutely at home in this wonderful villa. And that’s the nub of it - it feels more like a home than “another” villa. Spacious rooms, great living areas and kitchen, amazing gardens with plenty of discrete places to sit and boat pier (and boat) meant the eight of us could properly relax. With four restaurants along the coast or Nidri across the bay, going out to eat was easy. And a lovely farewell by the owner was the icing on the cake.... Thank you!

We had another wonderful week, Ioanna is a delightful owner, and the property is perfect for our family of 8. Lilias is the very helpful manager.
We certainly hope to return.

I had looked all over the Greek islands for a villa with a mooring in a sensible price bracket and chose this one. So glad I did. After an hours taxi ride from the airport we arrived tired and emotional (personal reasons for the emotional). Our welcome could not have been better; Lilias and Ioanna were there to greet us with a huge welcome pack of food (no need to go out the first evening if we did not want to).
The rooms were perfect - modern, but not minimalist, with several quirky pieces. Three double bedrooms upstairs. All (I think) have kingsize beds (the master certainly did). One bedroom at the back downstairs.
The garden was full and leafy with plenty of different places to sit, either in the shade or sun. There are only four places to lounge by the pool, but there are also loungers by the waters edge which is great for watching the boats go by. The pool was a bit too cold for me (the sea, in September, was warmer), although I wouldn't swim in the lagoon off the villa.
We hired a RIB (power boat licence needed) from Trident Boats (recommend) which arrived our first evening and spent our days exploring Lefkada, Meganissi and even down to Ithaka. The snorkelling is not great to be honest but the boat gives a great sense of adventure and fun - perfect for a family with young adults. (NB - fuel expensive C. £800.00 for 2 weeks) Mooring adjacent to the restaurants, finding a private cove or heading to the Reggae Bar on Meganissi was all part of the fun, before returning to our very private villa.
So thank you to Ioanna Margeli for Villa Yalenia. We look forward to returning in the next year or so.

We were three couples staying for a week and had a wonderful relaxing week. The villa has everything you need and is perfectly situated for accessing the local tavernas and the close by islands using a boat. This was our second visit to the villa and we hope we will be back!

This property is different to a lot of the ‘modern’ places on Lefkada. It has charm; a wonderful mature garden, nice pool and lawn on the waterfront. The main bedroom ‘suite’ spans the whole width of the house and has a great balcony.
The booking agent, Lilias, and the owners (Nikki and Johanna) could not be more helpful. They made our stay memorable, including helping to arrange a birthday party!

We loved our week in Yalenia. The first thing that strikes you is the beauty of the garden which is extremely well looked after throughout the Summer and looks exactly (better) as it does in the photos. The garden is layered with a terrace at the top which provides lovely comfortable seating perfect for an early evening drink - looking out over the bay to the yachts and Nidri. The swimming pool has been beautifully designed and is also quite private from the bay. This is a family run villa and they quite rightly take a lot of pride in it. The owner showed us around the garden and then the house and went to a lot of trouble to make our stay a success.
The house has a wonderful huge open sitting, dining and kitchen area downstairs with one bedroom / bathroom off it. Sofa very comfortable but we did not use it that much. We were greeted with a very generous welcome pack of food which provided for at least 2 meals and some of what we needed for breakfast. Upstairs, the main bedroom is fabulous - huge balcony from which you can sit and watch the bay, large bathroom. The other two doubles both with ensuites are large.
We elected not to hire a car and provisioned the house by boat - hired from Trident Boats across the bay who were fantastic and highly recommended. Having a private jetty is a real treat. We spent every day on the water exploring coves, caves and finding cliff jumping spots for our teenagers. Dining either in Nidri, which although touristy does have the advantage of providing huge choice or one of the Tavernas in the quieter Geni at the end of the bay.
All in all a fantastic holiday to remember,

The house itself is pure luxury and the gardens and pool were just gorgeous. We made good use of the boat with frequent trips out .We have stayed in Lefkas a few times before but nothing compares ! Looking forward to returning as soon as we can . Thank you to the owner for looking after us so well .
