Island House is a lovely property. Clean and within walking distance of shops and restaurants but also convenient for visiting the surrounding countryside. We will certainly be arranging to stay here again. We would thoroughly recommend a stay here.

Island House is perfectly located in the centre of Porthleven. Very comfortable and nicely decorated. It was an ideal base for a walking holiday. Excellent restaurants, pubs and a micro-brewery within walking distance. Will certainly return and would highly recommend to others. The host, James, could not have been more helpful.

Island House was the perfect place to stay in beautiful Porthleven. The hosts were communicative and considerate, and have equipped the cottage with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The cottage itself was immaculate and beautifully decorated. Thanks for a wonderful stay 😊

Excellent contact with owner/host.
Great location, 2 min walk into town.
Parking was easy, even in July, there was room very near the property for free parking. But even if there isn't, you can park for £6 a day nearby.
Spotlessly clean house.
Comfortable furniture/beds etc and well equipped kitchen. Good shower. Note the bathroom is downstairs.
Nice, small garden to sit in.

After over eight years my twenty something son and I finally managed to have a two week holiday together and stayed at Island House in Porthleven. What a fantastic place and location we were fortunate to stay in and it exceeded all expectations and was without doubt our best ever holiday! The precious time we spent together was 'perfect' in every way. Thank you for everything! Robert Taylor

We’ve just returned from a weeks stay at Island House (myself, husband and 19 yr old son)
The house is perfectly appointed and really cosy, especially with the log burner which was so lovely when the weather was wet outside! It’s located in a lovely quiet area yet just seconds and minutes away from cafes and restaurants. Unlike some Cornish resort villages, Porthleven does not have a Cramped feel ( if that makes sense!) all the shops and restaurants are based in a semi circle around the harbour area. So even though it may be quite busy, you can always find a quiet spot. Portleven beach and harbour are lovely, but for swimming the lovely Praa sands is a 10 minute drive. We also visited Porthcurno beach which is beautiful. An evening performance at the minack theatre was a great experience, but very windy and cold. Even in early September dress very warmly and bring blankets!
The best thing about island house, is that you can quite happily spend a day in Porthleven, wandering around the various shops and eateries, sit on the beach and watch the waves etc… yet if it rains or you just fancy going back to base you’re re only few minutes walk from the cottage….Light a fire, cosy up and get a takeout from the restaurant, literally across the street! So basically you don’t need to take the car out and travel to keep occupied, it’s all there in Porthleven! Thank you so much to the host and for leaving a lovely welcome pack! We would love to return 👍😊

Lovely property in a great location
We had a family holiday at Island House, staying for a week in October. Communication with the owner was excellent and the property was easy to find. It is in an excellent location, a few hundred yards from the Porthleven harbour. Porthleven is a lovely town with with nice shops, a market and some excellent restaurants. The property was clean and had everything we needed. It was nicely decorated and the beds were very comfortable. We plan to go back next year and hope to stay in Island House again.

Beautiful cottage. Perfect location
We loved Island House. Beautifully furnished with lots of lovely little accessories. Faultlessly clean. Well stocked with everything we needed.
Perfect location just 2 minutes up the road from the harbour. Lots of great places to eat or get takeaways. Chinese right opposite. The fact there was no parking included wasn’t.a problem as lots available 2 minutes away ( up the road opposite and next left along by cemetery)
Porthleven is a great base to explore Cornwall. We loved Church Cove, Kynance cove and the lizard. Also would recommend Trebah gardens .
We would definately stay here again .

Excellent cottage
Great location just a short stroll down to the harbour where there is a lot going on and many excellent places to eat. The lovely beach is just a short stroll past the harbour. The property was a characterful cottage that had been tastefully modernised and had everything we needed for the four of us. We certainly will stay here again.

A week in Island House
What a lovely cottage, in an ideal location exactly as described. Tastefully decorated, excellent facilities, comfy bed, no added costs (no electric meter to feed). A few minutes walk to the shops and restaurants.
James was easy to contact and and a really pleasant and friendly host. Thank you for making us feel welcome. We’d definitely stay there again.

Charming Cottage in the Heart of Porthleven
Our first getaway since lockdown easing and like many others we decided to stay in the UK and so very glad we chose Island House.
From the moment we booked, James was in touch with us and was always contactable to answer any questions if required. On arrival we were also delighted with the welcome bottle of Prosecco and Cornish biscuits.
The cottage is beautifully decorated, with many charming touches and very comfortably furnished. There is also a smart TV with access to Netflix, iPlayer, etc. and a good WiFi connection.
There are many places to eat, including restaurants, pubs and takeaways within a few minutes walk that you will be spoilt for choice - although when we were there some were still closed as we visited before the restrictions on eating indoors hadn’t been lifted. If you do fancy cooking yourself though, the kitchen is very well equipped with a full cooker, microwave and the all important dishwasher to make life easier.
The little courtyard garden is a sun trap but Porthleven is also an ideal base from which to explore a bit further afield - Our favourite outings were to The Lizard with its spectacular coastline and to Marazion where you can walk along the causeway to St Michael’s Mount at low tide (although we couldn’t get onto the island as it was temporarily closed as they are busy filming to prequel to Game of Thrones).
Look out for Porthleven’s famous Reggie the cat - He usually hangs about near the pastie shop down at the harbour and enjoys a good chin scratch.
Thank you James and Sally - We would not hesitate to recommend Island House and look forward to visiting again.

Island Cottage, Porthleven, September 2020
A perfect place for a few days in Cornwall, a short stroll from the harbour, and an even shorter stroll from Ann's Pasties, a great fishmonger (to buy crab for the sandwiches) and Landed, where they make fish and chips from everything but cod and haddock - delicious (and sustainable) pollock. Yet again it failed to rain once all week.

Cosy house in a lovely harbour village.
Very nice cosy cottage, restored very comfortably, in one of my favourite Cornish coastal villages, away from a the tourist route.

Porthleven stay
Island cottage was just as described. Close to the harbour and local amenities. The owner James, kept me informed of everything needed, both on booking the cottage and then before arrival. The only downside was the limited parking that was available, however I could still park my car a short walk away. Due to the location of Porthleven there are lots of places to visit within a short drive away. I would be happy to return to Island cottage in the future.

Porthleven is delightful
We had a wonderful 2 week stay in Porthleven. Our accommodation was clean, tidy and very comfortable. The cottage was well placed in the village with very easy access to all the restaurants, shops and coastal path.
We were disappointed there was no onsite parking as advertised, so if this is something, like us, you select when deciding which cottages to rent, then this cottage only comes with on road parking and there is no designated parking. Sometimes we were lucky to park on the narrow street next to the cottage but sometimes not.
Overall the cottage had everything we needed as a lovely home from home.
Thanks for the welcome gift also.

Very clean, warm and cosy cottage
We arrived at Island House for a Christmas week holiday. After unloading our car from a nearby lay by, we quickly settled in and felt at home. The cottage is an ideal base to explore Porthleven and surrounding areas. In the evening, the log burning fire was very easy to use and provided a lovely cosy atmosphere for us. We had a lovely week at Island House and would happily return in the future. There is a car park to the rear of the Cost Cutter shop opposite the cottage. I would use this facility all the time whilst at the cottage. It only costs one pound for 24 hour stay and is easily accessed via the rear road and path. The harbour and shops locally are quaint and colourful, with a good variety of places to eat, drink and be merry!

Excellent, location, very cosy and comfortable property.
This property is very charming in character, impeccable clean, with all the amenities for a holiday break. Its location is superb. My niece and her family who stayed there were delighted with its homey feel, they could not fault it. Parking was not a problem, and the Post office/connivence store opposite was ideal. On arrival the kind note, biscuits, and wine were a thoughtful gesture. Thank you. They and I would highly recommend Island House.

Lovely cottage in a prime location.
This is our third visit to Island House. The property is in an ideal location in the quintessential Cornish village of Porthleven and is literally a minutes walk away from the harbour. The cottage is beautifully maintained and has all the amenities necessary for a comfortable stay. Contact with the owner is always excellent and responses are always prompt. Porthleven is an excellent base for exploring the Lizard Penninsular, our favourite places include: Rinsey Cove; Coverack and Perannuthnoe Beach. Porthleven has an abundance of amenities with two excellent chip shops and great pizzas from the deli. I would definately recommend Island House.

Excellent
Porthleven is a lovely place. The Cottage is well placed for all the local facilities. It is beside the main road but that did not trouble us. If you want absolute peace and quiet then perhaps you should choose not to be in the heart of a wonderful bustling harbour village.

A week at Island House, Porthleven
We recently spent a wonderful week at Island House in Porthleven. The property has lots of character, has been tastefully decorated, and is ideally situated both for the town itself and for exploring Cornwall. The owner, James Gush, was available for queries, and very helpful.

Charming cottage minutes from harbour
We really enjoyed our stay at Island House for the October half term. The cottage is beautifully decorated with a lovely sea theme and artwork. It is well equipped and was a good size for us and our two children (aged 5 and 7). They were very happy in the second bedroom where there is a double and a single bed. The location is fantastic – just a couple of minutes’ walk from the picturesque harbour. We ate out at Kota Kai (delicious food and great for kids) and the Ship Inn is exactly the kind of pub you hope to find by the sea in Cornwall. There is also a brilliant fishmonger just down the road so you can rustle up your own tasty dishes too if you please!

Cosy Island House ideally situated in Porthleven
We thoroughly enjoyed our second stay at Island House. As soon as you open the door you feel welcome it’s so well presented, with everything you need.
Island House is ideally located just a few minutes, walk from The Harbour, Beach, Shops and Restaurants its all there without needing to get in the car.
Cornwall offers plenty more to explore just a short drive away. We would love to visit again.
