A TOUR THROUGH THE NORSE HUS:
The house is entered from the top (second) story front deck into a large rustic living room with open beam ceilings. With three couches, easy chairs, and ample additional space, the living room is an ideal space for large groups and parties. The living room has a two sliding glass doors that open onto the main outdoor deck. One of two cable-connected TV and DVD players in the house are in this room. This TV is a 55-inch Smart (internet) TV. The corner bookcase has a large assortment of the most popular family board games.
Directly adjacent to the living room is a large spacious kitchen that has all major and minor appliances and plenty of room for multiple cooks. Adjoining the kitchen and large living room is a smaller intimate den with a fireplace, comfortable seats and another couch. This (den) room has sliding glass doors that open out onto the main side deck and a second one that opens to the rear deck where the barbeque sits.
The living room sliding glass doors open onto an enormous deck that wraps from the front to the side and finally the back. The side deck is 16 feet by 32 feet and has and expandable table and chairs for eight to twelve plus a large folded picnic table and stacked chairs that can be added to accommodate a large number of people. The main deck also has a cozy grouping of couches and chairs. There are two barbecues one gas and one charcoal (charcoal BBQ is under deck). The entire deck is graced with mood setting Edison-type bistro string lights and outdoor speakers.
With the three inter-connecting rooms (Living-Kitchen-Den) and multiple deck access points, the upstairs can accommodate a substantial number of people without feeling crowded, even in winter without use of the deck.
Adjacent to the kitchen is a dining room with mid-century dining set and buffet table that can seat up to ten people with the internal butterfly leaf. There is also a drop-leaf folding table in the dining room and folding chairs in the master closet that can be used to expand the dining room seating. Adjacent to the dining room is the upstairs bathroom with a large comfortable shower.
The final living space upstairs is the master bedroom. The "Bear's Lair" is a spacious Master that has a king bed. There is also one Graco porta-crib in the closet. Three bedrooms and a bath with large shower all open into the family room. The lower floor is often a great place for kids to have their own space away from the adults upstairs, but not completely separated.
At the base of the stairs is bathroom number three with a large shower, and bedroom number two, which we call 'The Troll Room.' This room has a queen sized bed plus a single bed, and it is decorated with troll artwork pine cones and rustic Nordic ski pictures.

Very clean and well stocked property was perfect for our family reunion!

We stayed at the NORSE HUS with 2 other families and we loved it! The house is beautifully decorated and the kitchen is amazing and well stocked! Everything is labeled so it's easy to put things back where they belong. The expandable table in the dining room allowed all of us (12) people to sit down at the same time which was very nice! We drove up 20-30 minutes to enjoy some snow play and had an amazing time!
Thank you for sharing your home with us!

We had a great time at Norse Hus. The cabin is very spacious and the decor is cozy. The kitchen is newly remodeled and is lovely. It was very well-stocked. We had a chef in our group and he was surprised how well it was stocked in comparison to many other places we have rented. Not much snow at the cabin, but just 30 minutes away we found a great little spot to play where there were hardly any people and tons of snow. Not much to do in Twain Harte. Most of the stores are closed down or just closed so we went shopping in downtown Sonora which had some cute shops. We were thinking a summer trip would have been better for us as there seems to be a lot of activities to do in warmer weather.

We stayed here to be in close proximity to Dodge Ridge so we could snowboard a couple of days. Unfortunately we were rained out off the mountain and didn’t get to snowboard. FORTUNATELY, we were at NORSHUS and nobody was too sad missing out on snowboarding because the cabin was AMAZING!! We played games, told stories next to the fireplace, watched movies and made great memories with friends and family. Thanks for letting us stay at your cabin.

It was our 50th anniversary and we wanted to gather our entire family for the week. Since one our sons has a vacation home around the corner, Norse Has looked to fit the bill perfectly. It was ready to move into and everything the pictures promised. We were able to walk between the houses easily.
Norse Has was fitted out with everything that was needed for our stay. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and fun to cook in.
The patio offered a perfect place to gather for cocktails and meals. Our grandchildren loved exploring the property and the tire swing was a huge hit. It was the last thing our 3 year old granddaughter did before we left.
Thank you for opening your home...it was such a wonderful and memorable experience. We will be back!

Amazing home and location for family vacation
We walked into a beautiful home that was very clean and comfortable. The entire process was easy from booking, getting access and checking out. We had a wonderful time as a family with a 3 year old, 6, 8 and 11 year olds and 6 adults as well as our lab.
The kids enjoyed the house and surrounding area including playing in the small creek by the house and the rope swing. Lots of amenities nearby; we golfed the 9 hole course nearby, played peewee golf with the kids, had ice cream in Twain Harte, played at Pinecrest Lake and found an even better place to swim in kayak which we'd highly recommend, Beardsley Lake.
Thank you Roger for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home. We hope to make this an annual event.

A wonderful home!
This is a wonderful home and we truly appreciated being able to stay there for a family gathering with extended members who reside in Twain Harte. The home is finely appointed and has EVERYTHING you need should you want to prepare meals in a large kitchen. However, in our visit the outstanding feature was probably the large deck where we spent the majority of our time. We used the homes windows to cool it at night and never had to use air conditioning even though temperatures were into the 90's during the day which allowed everyone to sleep well during our four nights.
Our thanks go out to the owner!

Cozy cabin in great location
I booked this for my family of 8 adults and grandkids. It was perfect and the beds were comfortable, the bathrooms are nice, and the kitchen is awesome and has everything you need to cook your meal. It sits on beautiful property and a nice neighborhood to walk around and close to downtown for some fun like the kids park, the restaurants and cute shops. Hope to stay again!

Cozy, clean, and well appointed
We stayed at the Norse Hus for my birthday weekend, check in was a breeze, the house was better than the pictures! Fantastic kitchen with everything you need, great deck and bbq grill, comfy beds, lots of games, and the house Manuel was very detailed and lost great hikes and activities close by. The location is just a short drive to hikes and town in a really quite neighborhood. This house has it all for a great mountain getaway!

First time ever and it was great.
Spacious cabin that feels like a home.. not just a property rental. Even though we brought most everything we needed.. we did not have to because it had everything a person could need. It is family friendly.. stuff for ALL ages. It is in good driving distance from town, snow play and ski resort. This was my families first time renting a cabin as well as being in Twain Harte. We enjoyed the snow and warm cozy evenings. Very peaceful and quiet. Roger was kind, very responsive and good communicator. If I have the opportunity to do this again, I will!!

Nice slice of serenity
My family stayed at the cabin for a week and had a great time. We managed to come right when the leaves were changing colors which was gorgeous. Roger was a great host and was quick to communicate with us when the power went out, or to help us resolve any issues that arose during our stay. The property was a bit closer to the neighbors than we had expected, but as it was the slow time of the year there weren't many neighbors around so it still felt secluded. Our family enjoyed walking the Tuolumne Ditch which was quite nice.
The most stressful part of the trip though is the trash situation. Roger was gracious enough to let us fill the trashcan full after our stay as well since the cabin was not booked after us, but in all honesty for a group of 7 people that was cooking all their meals at the cabin, the trash situation was tight. While I can appreciate trying to keep costs down, the stress of having to "pack out" any extra trash was a bit of a downer, especially since it didn't feel like we were making an excessive amount, it's just a lot of people for a small trash can.

A perfect weekend for a wedding
The house was such an awesome place to retreat to with our family as we all gathered for a wedding. We relaxed and caught up together. The accomodations were exactly as advertised... And then some. The deck offered us all a place to gather, eat, drink and talk. I'm so happy we chose Norse Hus. It was a perfect place to call home even for a quick getaway... I'm thinking of a winter getaway next... The owner is super responsive and accompanying. Pride of ownership is apparent in the complete experience.

Wonderful week under the pine trees!
My extended family and I had the most wonderful time amidst the beautiful pine trees in Twain Harte. We loved how large and spacious the cabin is so that the 12 of us never felt like we were on top of each other. The cabin is well organized and the owner has thought of many details that make the cabin great and memorable. We cooked together, ate together, played games together and star gazed together on the big deck. We really had a wonderful time and we look forward to possibly renting it again in the future. Thank you for sharing your lovely cabin with us.

Surpassed our expectations
Norhus surpassed our expectations. The house is spacious and well equipped including everything you could ask for in the kitchen as well as toys, children's books, a tire swing, and a foosball table. The deck is vast and we were pleasantly surprised to find a small creek on the property, which kept our toddler quite busy. Expect lots of deer and friendly neighbors. Roger provided guidance on what to do in the area and we really enjoyed all of the hikes he recommended. Can't recommend enough!

Amazing house in quiet surroundings
This house is incredibly well-equipped (especially the kitchen!) with absolutely everything you could need for a summer or winter stay. There was plenty of room indoors and outdoors for our group of 9 and the house was absolutely spotless when we arrived. We loved hanging out on the deck watching the deer. Thank you so much!

Yearly favorite!
We've been going to Norse Hus for about 6 years straight and our same group always looks forward to this trip. We spend 90% of our time on the deck, hanging out, playing games, conversating, and listening to music.
It is very easy to work with the owner, Roger. He's very responsive.
Anyone who stays here, will very much enjoy this very well taken care of property.
Thank you Roger!

Relaxation
Great place to stay. It was secluded and very peaceful and quiet. This is exactly what we were looking for. The cabin itself is very clean and spaceous, and so was the deck. The owner himself, was very responsive to all questions. We literally had answers within minutes of asking them. There was a minor issue/mix-up with towels, but a quick 5 minute phone call with the owner resolved it. We were very happy with our accomodations.

BEAUTIFUL
Pictures don't do justice! it's beautiful and the owner is very great at communicating. We had a big group and the house was perfect because there's plenty of room for everybody to feel comfortable and move around without feeling crowded.
The only complaint I have is quiet time is 10pm, everyday we followed the house rules to the T but, of course the "neighbors" weren't too happy with the loud music we were playing, Why have the speakers on the outside deck, if this is an issue?
The approach from a not so friendly neighbor to my kids as they were playing games on the deck should not have happened cause I got a call and a text from the owner to turn down the music, all I have to say is He's Lucky my husband or cousins were NOT outside when he decided to do a walk by with his Rude Remarks.
We've been to Twaine Harte 4 years in a row, stayed at multiple cabins, do the same type of family gatherings, loud music, family enjoying each others company and we've never had a complain but, I know it's not the owners fault, thank you again for letting us enjoy your beautiful home and if your a big crowd, this is the Perfect Home for you.

5th year in the books!
A 5th year of a great stay at Nors Hus has been etched in the books. Our group thoroughly enjoys going there for our annual marriage group get together.
The owner is always updating and improving this home. This year we saw the Shlage lock system which was so easy and no need to carry a key. Secondly noticed a few new decor pieces and brand new toilets! :).
I'd say the only thing missing is access to a local lake, but know this is not a possibility at this time.
Roger, it's such a pleasure to stay at your place each year.
Blessings to you!

Great property. Great space enjoyed by our 9 member family and small dog
The Ravenstaad Norse Hus is lovely and it's obvious the owners cherish it dearly. The layout was perfect for our large multiple family vacation over Thanksgiving and they were willing to let us bring our dog along. The kitchen was very well equipped. The beds were comfortable. Everything was very clean. The owner's Norwegian family roots were prevalent throughout and made everyone decide Norway is on their bucket list. We would definitely return to the Norse Hus.

A group of 18 recently spent our family reunion at the Norse Hus. Like many others, most of our time was spent on the deck and in the living room in groups - with plenty of room! I was stoked to find a full kitchen with just about every seasoning imaginable, plenty of utensils and even a large crock pot that was PERFECT for taco night. Popular vote = "lets come back here" with a special gold star vote from Mom who loved having a cup of coffee in the morning while visiting with the friendly deer.
I was concerned that it might be warm without air conditioning but was happy to find that the house was comfortable with the help of fans. My only suggestion would be to maybe bring along an extra fan for anyone that may suffer from hot flashes. :)
A great time was had by all. High five to Roger for sharing his wonderful house with others. Thanks so much! - Sandy

Family reunion
“We were in town for a family reunion and had 3 families with kids and grandbabies stay at this lovely well-maintained home. All we needed was provided in the well-stocked kitchen and numerous bedrooms. We enjoyed great BBQ and conversations on the expansive deck and watching the NBA playoffs in the large living room. Morning coffee with the deer in the backyard was a special treat! We definitely recommend the home and will come back when we can.”

Lovely and comfortable!
Our group of seven spent four wonderful days at Norse Hus. The home is very spacious and sits in a beautiful area with evergreen trees, Pacific Magnolas and a graceful trio of deer. It was a great place as a get-away. The home is also about an hour from Yosemite.
We hope to plan another visit there.

Spacious, clean, homey, with lots of little surprises!
Everything was perfect for us! A suggestion for the future is to upgrade at least one toilet to the higher level seat for elderly or disabled. Great property!!

As advertised!
The house suited our families perfectly . Plenty of room for everyone to have their space or be together as a family . The man enjoy the horseshoe pit and the kids just enjoy running around. I can see why people come back year after year .

Keeps getting better!
This is our 3rd stay at Nors Hus and all of our repeat group was very pleased with the new upgrades since our visit last summer. The new outdoor furniture, the deck lights really added to the ambiance since we spent 95% of our time on the deck if we weren't in the kitchen or at Pine Crest lake. The only reason for no 5 stars, is because we'd like to see at least another smaller fridge in garage and outdoor garbage can is pretty small. We bring all of our food and cook all our meals for 16 people (breakfast, lunch, dinner) so we have lots to store, but it maybe not the norm for most visitors...The oven seems to still not cook fast or at the temp set, a few things we made took a lot longer than it should.
One of the great things about booking Nors Hus is that owner Roger is always very responsive if you have any questions, before booking, during and after stay, and that is 5 star service in my opinion. Whenever we go to Twain Harte, this will always be our first choice!
Thank you Ravenstad for opening up your home, we always enjoy our time there.

Family Summer Vacation
This home is an excellent spot for a large family or multi family gathering. There are multiple spaces for children to play games or small groups to gather for conversation. The kitchen is well stocked with all the supplies one needs for meal prep. The deck is a nice size for large group visits and meals.
Overall, I highly recommend this property!

The cabin was exactly how it was described.
My family enjoyed the staying here so much we hope to go back soon. The directions provided were a lifesaver and the cabin had everything you need for a wonderful time. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway.
Watching the deers walk by the deck throughout the day was just one of the many highlights of our stay.
