We would definitely stay here again. We stayed for 9 days and we needed more time. The house was lovely and very comfortable. The owners are extremely nice and welcoming especially when we accidently locked ourselves out. The location is wonderful. You can easily walk to any place in Bruges. The property is located close enough to "the action", yet the neighborhood is quiet and safe. The weather ranged from cool to warm and even a bit hot, but the house stayed comfortable.

It was just what we needed, within walking distance of the train station and everything to visit in the old city center. Saturday morning there was a huge and wonderful open air market just a few blocks away. Our host met us at the property and exlpained everything we needed to know for our three night stay in Bruges.

Our stay in Bruges was totally enhanced by the beautiful accomodation. Plenty of space spread over three floors provided privacy, yet it had a very cozy feel due to the design and decor.
There is also a lovely courtyard.

We enjoyed our stay in this charming house very much. Barbara and her daughter Axelle were very welcoming and the pre-checkin communication was excellent. The location is perfect. It’s within easy walk-in distance to all the sights. It was spotlessly clean, with a cozy, welcoming feeling and the bed was very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful home in old town Bruges. Lovely home with lots of charm and a private patio. Easy walking to all sights. Very responsive and informative hosts. Be aware that there are narrow stairways leading to second and third floor sleeping areas. We really enjoyed our stay.

We were lucky to spend a few days in this lovely house right in the heart of Bruges. Everything was within walking distance, yet the accommodation itself was quiet. The town is gorgeous of course, and this house fits right in. We had plenty of space, lovingly decorated, very clean, simply dreamy.
We met our host Barbara for check-in and she was incredibly friendly, too. We felt very welcomed and at home. We would readily stay here again.

Lovely cosy terraced house in a great location close to station, car park, shops and Christmas markets.

This is a really excellent property with a fantastic, welcoming host.
The location is great, an easy walk to all the main central attractions of Bruges, a very manageable walk to the train station, but away from the mad crowds.
The property itself was immaculate, perfect as either a large property for a couple or a small group. The kitchen has everything you'd need, and the bedrooms are comfortable and spacious.
It was also lovely to have a Christmas tree in the living room, it felt so homely, much better than a hotel!
Only thing to be aware of is the steepness of the stairs if you have mobility issues - we were fine but could imagine them being a little awkward for someone older or unsteady.

Barbara had excellent communication and was at the location early ready for our arrival. Beautiful fire in the living room made it so cozy when coming back from the Christmas markets. It is early winter so the floors were cold ( to be expected) so if visiting in the winter pack slippers. Very comfy beds, excellent location, will stay again if we return to Bruges someday!

This is such a beautiful, characterful house in the perfect location, close to all the attractions. We couldn't fault it and would love to stay again in the future.

The home is lovely with very comfortable beds! Nice little terrace for morning coffee. Great location for easy walk to city center and market place.
Be aware of steep stairs to bedrooms.
Communication with Barbara was seamless.
I highly recommend this property.

Perfect 2 bedroom home centrally located in Bruges just a few minutes walk from the historic centre.
I would recommend anyone to use this home as a base for exploring Bruges, walking distance from the station too so need for taxis.
Stay here, you won’t be disappointed !!

Barbara’s house is one of the best holiday rentals we’ve stayed in. A charming, beautifully presented house, perfectly located in the old town. Just a few mins walk to the centre but also in a quiet street away from the crowds. We couldn’t have asked for anything better for our few days exploring beautiful Bruges. We especially loved the little courtyard. Barbara was lovely and welcoming and had excellent communication. Highly recommend.

Barbara was amazing and such a gracious hostess! We loved staying at this property while in Bruges. Her home was charming, very convenient (walking distance!) to the train station, sites, restaurants etc yet still quiet and peaceful. We loved staying here!

My husband and I spent four lovely days at Axelle’s house in Bruges. Barbara is a most attentive and responsive host, and great care and attention to detail have been given to combine 19th century charm with modern conveniences. The description in the listing is spot-on, but the house is even more beautiful than shown in the photos. In particular, the bedroom on the 1st (second) floor is bright and airy but not fully depicted in the photos. As others have indicated, the stairs leading up to the bedrooms are steep with narrow treads (to be expected in a 19th century home) and so the house may not be suitable for all. That aside, the house is very spacious and the open 2nd (third) floor in particular, makes it well suited for families. The location is also ideal, situated in the historic center yet within walking distance of the train station with ample grocery, bakery, and shopping options nearby. An ideal stay in every way — we hope to return!

A wonderful 4 night stay midweek with my 6 month old baby and my mother. The apartment is beautifully decorated and very well equipped. A cot and highchair for the baby were even provided. The apartment has a fireplace and a patio area so no matter what time of year you are there, it will be a lovely place to be. It has an excellent and well equipped kitchen which we used to cook dinner after my baby was in bed. It is situated in the old town just a short walk from all of the main sites and from the train station if you are arriving by train.
You can drive to the apartment to drop off luggage and then park your car outside of the old town. Getting to the apartment by car is not obvious because there are so many one way streets in the old town. Google maps kept trying to send me down a closed road so ask the hostess for directions before you travel! It was easy once she explained the route.
One thing to note is that the stairs to the first floor are very steep, closer to a ladder than a staircase. Also the room on the second floor has no door to the room, it just opens directly onto the staircase. As a result this may not be the best option for young children who are mobile.
It's a wonderful apartment though so if can manage steep stairs, definitely stay here!

We two friends (aged around 80 !) found this house the perfect location for a leisurely week in Bruges. We did have worries about the steep stairs to the first floor, but we managed with careful walking and hanging on to the bannister. That was a tiny price to pay for such an original old house, decorated in the most charming country-house style. Everything was convenient, immaculate, and beautiful down to the smallest detail.
We did have trouble with the lock on the first night, but neighbours helped us learn the trick, and we never had any problems after that. The hostess was most apologetic about our not being able to reach her by phone, and brought us chocolates to compensate ... once again, a little problem and a nice bonus in exchange. We would highly recommend this home to any visitor to Bruges.

The location of this house is perfect....minutes away from the heart of Brugge. The home is lovely and quaint. I recommend warm lounging clothes or robe as there are some drafts downstairs, but the radiators worked well and we slept very well in comfort. Our hostess allowed us to check our luggage in earlier and that was very kind and gave us a head start on our sightseeing. There is lots to see in Brugge and we had a wonderful time. I would definitely stay here again.

My mother and I stayed in Bruges for 3 nights. The location is great - 10 minutes walk from the train station and just a few minutes to the center of Bruges. This made it easy to come and go during the day. The street is quiet and there is a sunny courtyard too. The house is quirky with lots of interesting decoration and nice touches. Steep stairs and you need to mind your head in the attic room. Warm and cosy and comfortable. Barbara met us on arrival and gave us tips for our visit as well as home made jam. Highly recommended place to stay!

This home was lovely and exactly as shown in the photos online. Barbara greeted us upon arrival and was really helpful showing us around the house. The English cottage decor is absolutely beautiful. The bedrooms and bathrooms are lovely. The living room and kitchen are adorable. It’s a spacious home, quiet street close to everything. We had a great stay and would absolutely recommend this place to others.
Two things to know- The stairs are narrow steps so it may feel steep. This is normal for the style and age of the house. It was fine for us but if you have mobility concerns, just be aware. Also, we used both bedrooms and there was a 30 euro nightly fee for use of the bed in the attic bedroom.
Location - We had a car which we parked easily at the main train station for 5 EU a day. We drove and dropped off our bags at the home and then parked at the station easily. The main train station is close 8 minute walk. There is an even closer station and parking is only 4-5 min walk. Carrefour is 2 min. All of the shops and sites are reached easily.
Would recommend!

Just stay here, you won't regret it. The location is perfect, Barbara is wonderful, and the beds are incredibly comfortable. There is even an additional powder room not mentioned in the listing - bonus!
Note: the stairs are super skinny and steep so not ideal for everyone. Loved our stay - thank you!

The property is placed well in a quiet area very near the main shops and close walking distance to the key sights. The property is full of charm and the owner helpful throughout

Our family of 4 had a wonderful stay at Axelle’s House. The property is completely charming and convenient to both the train station (approx 10 min walk) and the Market Square (less than 10 min walk). The home is beautiful, clean, and has all the amenities you need for a visit.
Barbara was very responsive and kindly allowed us an early check-in. Her husband Filip met us at the house and even had a fire going in the fireplace when we arrived.
Our stay was magical and we would strongly recommend to anyone interested. We would love to visit again!

A real find, a couple of minutes from food and other shopping. St John's Hospital and other Brugge museums less than 10 minutes. The house was a delight with furniture and decor complimenting it's historic character. Plenty of cutlery, towels and a TV with plenty of channels. Barbara our host let us know all about the house and offer suggestions, the one about the local Saturday Market was especially helpful. If I ever return to lovely Brugge then I know where to stay. Such a perfect property.
