The pros of this property were that the house was huge and it can fit large groups and it was a very short walk to the beach which was convenient. Washington street mall, and the grocery store was a 10 min walk, there was mini golf at the end of the block and a few good restaurants all in walking distance.
However, there were many cons. The house is very old and needs lots of renovations which should be done to make stays more enjoyable. There are overgrown greenery along the house which doesn’t look presentable. The locks on the doors are either impossible to turn the key or they don’t lock completely which is a safety issue. While walking through the house there were numerous cracks on the ceiling and walls where the paint/Sheetrock were almost falling off. Walls were stained as well as carpets and sofas. Owner provides toilet paper but you need to bring everything else like shampoo, towels, sheets, etc. The house could be gorgeous but it needs many renovations and with the amount of money paid for this house it definitely wasn’t worth it considering not much was supplied and the safety concerns and things that were lacking in quality. I could write much more but the site states that I wrote too much and it won’t allow anymore. We’ve stayed in many rentals so we have a lot to compare this house to and unfortunately it was lacking in many areas.

A year ago 7/31/2023, I inquired about bed configurations in the various bedrooms. Host summarized:
Hi, here is the bed and bathroom configuration First Floor: • Junior Suite: Queen bed with a bathroom (and crib if needed.) Large dining room. Two living areas. Bathroom and shower. Second Floor: • 2 Rooms; each with one queen bed both sharing one bathroom outside) • Large. Bedroom Suite with 2beds: queen bed and double bed with bathroom •large bedroom Suite with 3 beds: 1 queen bed and 2 single beds • Main suite: 1 king bed and bathroom Third Floor: • Junior Suite: Queen bed with bathroom • Large bedroom with two single beds and bathroom outside • Large bedroom Suite with one queen bed and one single bed
With final instructions on 8/1/24, suddenly there was one queen bedroom suite, one king suite and all other queen beds were now doubles requiring queen sized sheets. Three married couples ended up sleeping separately in double and twin beds as doubles are TOO small for the average adult.
Beach location is wonderful. House is well stocked with beach accessories, cooking supplies, etc.
The bed issue was very IRKSOME!!

This house is perfectly located close to the beach, promenade, and Washington Mall. Acme is a 5 min walk. This lovely old home is well appointed for a large family like ours. The kitchen is newly redone and large and well laid out for cooking lots of food. The host (Deena Cote) is very responsive to messages and requests, and took good care of us. When the washer was broken she paid for a wash and fold service at a local laundromat. She has a local handyman who can help with some problems pretty quickly, and called right away for service when the TVs weren’t working. One of us was partially disabled, and the first floor worked well for us with minimal assistance needed for that person.

Great location and a nice roomy house for a large group. We like to eat outside, particularly for lunch, since everyone is damp and sandy. This was not easy here. Outdoor hose and shower not we'll located and shower not private. We also like to eat in and cook, and the kitchen was good for this. Could not fit everyone in dining room and was carpeted.

This was the absolutely perfect place for the gathering of our large family. So many bedrooms, so many bathrooms and so many showers. Great living room/dining area and kitchen. We appreciated the one first level bedroom and private bath due to mobility issues. Built in 1875, perfect in 2022. Bob and Rose

This house has everything you need for a beach vacation. It is close to the beach (about a block). The house has a nice kitchen and a lovely front porch. The bedrooms were as described and comfortable for our group. The downstairs bedroom suite is good for anyone with mobility issues. Overall we had a wonderful stay and will return next year!

Good house for a large group. Communication with owner was fantastic. A few things need to be addressed but owner was open to suggestions.

Peppery was as described- well located and accommodated what we were looking for- nice, could fit a party of our size and our four legged friends. There were a couple of minor issues but the owner was extremely nice and fast to respond when we raised them. All in all, we would stay again.

This house is in a great location: one block from the beach and a few blocks from the Washington Street mall. The kitchen and one bathroom on the main level have been updated. The house is very big and gives a lot of room for a large group. The parking easily took our 4 cars. The owner is very responsive to questions/issues. There were a few minor drawbacks. None of the doors close properly so there really isn't a way to secure the house when you go out. Water in the upstairs bathrooms comes out of the faucets brown (rust) and the sink and tub in the large 2nd floor bedroom/bathroom are unusable as they don't drain. The landscaping is just weeds, which in Cape May is an anomaly. All this is minor and didn't detract from a fun week. I just think that for the price we expected more.

The house was conveniently located steps from the beach and close to town. There was plenty of room for our large group. The layout is a little awkward , but that is to be expected for a Victorian modified to add bedrooms and bathrooms. We had a great time!

Loved staying at this property. All the rooms were good size, and so many bathrooms. Earlier review complained about not enough large serving bowls or pot/ pans. There were numerous large items to use. Also they had 2 rooms on 1st floor that act as living room spaces. This worked well for vs 1 massive room, as we had all the kids in 1 room, adults in the other. Kitchen was large and excellent. Washer/ Dryers are little high tech, and took little getting used to. The frig on 2nd floor needs to be repaired/ replaced but really wasn't a big deal. We just made better use of the large kitchen fridge. House has nice porch area thats sits many guests, and we had no trouble with the parking situation. Getting such a large house in July in cape may for the price they are charging is a great deal.

Loved the location and the amount of people the house could accommodate. Easy walk to town and just off the beach. Kitchen was updated and the extra dryer was a good addition. The front porch was great to hang out on as well! The rooms were nice and the AC units (these are mounted on the wall and connected to outside units) were great, quiet and efficient. Overall great house and stay!

For a house that holds 20+ people ,and I have rented a few, the house is not prepared for the amount of people. 1 small recycling can. That was filled on arrival. 2 small trash cans also maxed out on arrival. For a house for 20+ people. I have never seen a house with no living room. Totally unacceptable. I would have never rented it for this amount of money if I knew. Also no large pots ,pans, serving bowls or serving utensils. How can you cook for 20+ people with pans for a family of 4? Other than that the house has a great porch. A fantastic location. Plenty of rooms with great a/c. Could use TV in bedrooms. Also one shower unit in one of the bedrooms was broken. Had a good week with my family that is what counts. I have rented large houses in Cape May for the last 5 yrs. Personally for the price point I paid I think the house could have been a little better prepared for The amount of people it holds.
