Not great for solo travellers .

Nice property with plenty of thought in reception rooms decor and objet da.

Paying the same room rate as a couple £90 pn) but finding myself in the smallest room overlooking the car park with the single bed and not enough room to swing a cat !!

Fantastic food, accommodations, and staff.

Beautiful, elegant hotel, inside and out. Lovely patio with fantastic view. Comfortable classic sitting areas.

Excellent break in a lovely area. April is a good time to visit Near Sawrey as it is not busy.

Location for active people like our selves was excellent. Breakfast and the 2 evening meals we had were very good indeed.

We were in room 6. The bedroom is excellent, however the bathroom is tiny to say the least.

Very enjoyable couple of days.

Great location. The general decor of the hotel was great . The staff very friendly and helpful.

Food served on cold plates . Don't like food served on a board.

The location was fabulous and so were the staff. the view from the terrace was lovely. the food was wonderful. can’t fault it. right next to hill topfarm.

Upon arrival it was so personal. The staff knew who we were and very accommodating. The hotel and the grounds were beautiful. We could not fault our stay.

Lakeland country house set in lovely location

great location in beautiful Lakeland village & lovely old comfortable country house with fantastic views from the garden & dinning room where you had breakfast. staff were helpful & friendly

Great weekend away!

Excellent stay from arrival to departure. All the staff were excellent and the hotel garden provides great views. The hotel is in a great location for visiting the hill top farm and it is a 20 minute walk or so from the ferry.

A gem of a place to stay ,very quiet and in beautiful surroundings. The afternoon tea was lovely (a birthday treat with

Tranquil place to stay with beautiful gardens snd views of the lake . Near to Hill Top farm Beatrix potters once upon time residence ! Lovely walk to a tarn nearby and easy walk to the water and cafe at the end to see Osprey .

Great Time

Service, staff & food was excellent. Loved the restaurant/bar & terrace area, location was great. Staff couldn't do enough to make you fill welcomed & we did. Would go back again.

Bathroom could have been cleaner. Rest of the room was excellent. This did not spoil our break at all.

Lovely old house next to Beatrix Potter's home. Fantastic view from lovely terrace over fields towards the lake. Good food served in restaurant with views. Comfortable large bedroom. Nice lounges. Staff pleasant and helpful. Would definitely visit again.

Longish wait for meal on first night. Error on bill.

Wonderful

Friendly staff. Positioned only a short drive from Ambleside in an idilic location. Good selection of food at breakfast. Dinner was brilliant and the views from the large windows overlooking the garden were stunning.

Poor WiFi throughout, bathroom a little dirty in places, dim lighting in the bedroom.

Pleasant stay, this hotel has excellent views lovely to sit on the terrace and take it all in.

All the staff made us feel very welcome and nothing seemed to much trouble. Comfortable room provided, we had a double and a single. Both breakfast and the Evening meal where very good and a reasonable amount of choice.

Very quiet and peaceful, beautiful location 20 minutes from Ambleside, great breakfast.

Hope to visit again and a very enjoyable escape for a weekend break.

Wonderfully location and staff and service excellent. Breakfast and evening meals a high standard, and COVID 19 measures in place reassuring.

The bathroom was very small, but acceptable based on very good value for cost of stay.
