About this cottage rental
A dream home, located on the north side of the island of S. Miguel conveniently situated near the SCUT which makes all kinds of tours and discoveries easily accessible by car. Close to everything, once it is centered on the island. In the middle of a paradisiac field, in the vicinity of a working farm and with the proximity of the village and the sea.
Recently remodeled the house of volcanic rocks (traditional build) is at its best. It was erected in basalt by a landowner in a place of great beauty, that has been preserved until today. It has a beautiful sea view, which extends west to the tip of the island, providing magnificent sunsets, and also an insight into the mountain, which contains the beautiful Lake of Fire.
It is 4km away from the city of Ribeira Grande in a place called Ribeirinha.

We have stayed the first week of our honeymoon at Casa de Canada, and am sure we couldn't start it anywhere better! De house is wonderful, fully equipped and in a peaceful environment. Antonio is the best host we have ever had. From Lissabon he was always there to help us and give us all the information we need. From the house you can go anywhere. You will need a car though, but that's the case for the whole island :). We surely be back if we are going to sao Miguel once again! Antonio, thank you!

The perfect place
Obrigada

Casa Canada
We stayed for 10 nights and enjoyed Antonio’s home in the Azores. He provided lots of information and answered any/all questions. The house gave us a feeling of traditional, rural Azorean countryside living - Complete with cows and a lovely little horse in the pastures beyond. It is well situated and central to main highways and roads. António’s description of his house is completely accurate.

Just like home
We had a perfect 11 day-stay at Antónios fantastic house. It's in a very good location to explore the whole island by car and it's a superb spot to enjoy drinks and sunsets on the patio.
We loved the house. It was well equipped and cosy inside and outside.
António was a wonderful host (even without meeting him), he provided everything we needed and even more (eg. car seats for the children) and his recommendations were very helpful.
He solved any problem within minutes via mail.
To sum up we have to and want to recommend this place without hesitation!
Thank you so much, António!

lovely house
Our stay at Antonio's house was wonderful. It really looked as beautiful as pictured, surrounded by the beautiful countryside. You can see mountains from the back of the house and the sea from the porch. The immediate area is surrounded by farmlands, just wonderful. You will need to rent a car for this house but at the same time pretty much everything on the island can be reached within an hour by car from here. The main town Ponta Delgada is only 25 minutes away by car and there are closer smaller towns dotted along the way. There is a big supermarket Modelo Continente located about 10 minutes from the house so if you want to make your own meal or do some grocery shopping this is the place to go. There is a beautiful black sand beach behind the supermarket what more can you ask for?

Excellent place to staying!
We really enjoyed our 3 week stay (5 persons) at the casa. The ocean view at the veranda is awesome. The garden is great. The house was clean and had everything to comfort our trip. Since there are just 2 bedrooms, my youngest daughter slept on an improvised bed by using a stretcher in the livingroom, so we still had the couch to sit on. The service Antonio and Ricardo provided is excellent, they make sure your stay will be without problems. Antonio provides you with useful info on things to do, beaches, restaurants etc. He is also very responsive in communication by phone and e-mail. The location is great. It's nearby Ribeira Grande which has a good supermarket, various shops and beaches. Due to it's central location, in about 35 minutes you are able to drive to every location. The island is very beautiful, people are friendly without stress. We appreciate it even more now! The nature often is exotic and views on ocean and cliffs is spectacular. There are many beaches for swimming and snorkling. We hiked over more than 15 trails, it's in my opinion the best way to discover the island. Take at least 2 weeks.
We used the bbq in the garden a couple of times, fantastic to enjoy family dinner at sunset and looking over the ocean and hills. We felt privileged staying here. I would no longer hesitate booking if you considering staying here.

The drive up the flower and tree lined driveway was very welcoming.
The Stonehouse from the outside is very beautiful, and accomadating for unloading and loading vehicle. The 360 degree view is very pleasant all around. Add the many chirping birds making there living in the trees, and comfortable chairs on the porch, what is there not to like. The inside was a bit tight for 3 adults. Watch for ants making there way to food and sweet drinks. Keep it clean and tight and it shouldn't be a problem. Some sharp knives in the draw would be nice, at least one for cutting up food. English directions on how to use washing machine would be a p
lus. Never did get it right. Door stop for front door a necessity when other doors or windows are open. It will slam shut on you. Also a latch for bathroom window to prevent it from slamming shut when airing it out. These are my suggestions for a better stay. Overall the Stonehouse was a pleasant stay. We loved the privacy even though you could see the highway. It was not intrusive at all.

A great find!
We have just returned from a weeks stay at this delightful cottage. It was a great find and I feel that we couldn't have chosen better. The cottage is ideally situated, being somewhat central, which makes it a great base to explore the island of São Miguel easily. The cottage has everything that you could need and it comes with fantastic views.
António is a fantastic host and even though we never got to meet him in person, he was always contactable and provided us with lots of information on the cottage and the surrounding areas, as well as suggestions for days out and things to do.
We were left in the capable hands of Ricardo and his wife, who were also nearby and on hand if ever we should need anything (which we didn't).
I would highly recommend this property, you will not be disappointed!!!
Thank you once again António for making our first trip to the Azores a pleasurable and memorable one.
All the best,

Outstanding rental!
We stayed at the cottage for 9 nights and cannot recommend this vacation rental highly enough. The house is very clean, well-appointed, and comfortable. Antonio, the owner, has thought of every detail to assure an enjoyable visit, from making sure that the house has everything you could need for a comfortable stay, making sure that guests are welcomed personally and shown the house and property, and for preparing a vast amount of information regarding stores, restaurants, and excellent detailed tours of the island. He is also excellent at communicating and made sure that all of our questions were answered fully. Some of the things that we loved about the house: it has a wonderful sense of place and family history. Staying there did not feel like staying in an anonymous place that could be anywhere, and we enjoyed the charming atmosphere of this traditional home. We also appreciated the peaceful setting and outdoor space. Sitting on the porch with a glass of wine after a busy day, or cooking dinner on the outdoor grill and eating on the stone table while viewing incredible sunsets allowed us to fully relax and enjoy our environment after a busy day of sightseeing. And the location of the house is perfect for excursions throughout the island. One of the reasons we really appreciated the convenient location is that some places need to be revisited, either because of incredible beauty, or because of the changeable weather of the environment allowing for different views on different days. The house is in a quiet and private location, yet close to Ribeira Grande, with its opportunity for shopping. Having a well-appointed kitchen was so helpful in cooking "at home" as much as desired, or for making picnic lunches to eat while touring the island. We are thrilled that we decided to rent this cottage and are very much hoping that we can return, both to the island and the cottage, for another visit in the future. We highly recommend this vacation rental!

Perfect place for living at Sao Miguel.
The best traditional and typical azores portuguese house which I ever seen with excellent location for traveling around the island. Adorable nature outside, unforgettable sunsets, ocean view, magnificent hydrangeas, splendid house interior and ideal location to main driveway.
Lots of thanks to open-armed owner Antonio who helped us in any questions and made our staying in his house at the highest level.
Also we used the car which was a nice bonus to the house.

Charming cottage with everything you'll need
This is a great little house with traditional architecture and furnishings. It is in a central location and served as a home base for visiting all areas of the island. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything we needed. Great views of the rolling hills and ocean and plenty of privacy. The owner and caretaker were more than accommodating and very easy to reach before and during our stay. We highly recommend this property.

Charming cottage in a great location
Even before my wife and I had arrived, Antonio, the owner, made us feel right at home. All of his advice on what to do, where to go, where to eat, etc., were very accurate and helpful. The cottage is rustic but well up-dated and maintained. It is in a strategic spot for touring the entire island. We highly recommend this cottage with the beautiful views of mountain and sea. Charming place on a charming island
It was really a pleasure to arrive on Sao Miguel and enjoy a stay in this lovely restored house close to Ribeira Grande - its central location gives endless possibilities of trips all around the island, and the cottage itself is in a great shape, well restored, in a rural tranquil location and with electric heaters available for those who prefer warmer evenings :-). Antonio, the owner, is extremely helpful, with a lot of advices and expert local knowledge. Highly recommended!!
