Good spot for a quick stay with all the children. Children enjoyed collecting firewood on our adventures locally so that we could enjoy the warmth of the woodstove. It was bitterly cold the week we stayed and we piled every available blankets on our beds. Location next to the creek is great for some properly holiday play getting wet and muddy in nature

Some elements of our 5nt stay were great, for instance the location and the super hot fire (we stayed in early Dec when the weather was rainy and 15deg!), however I cannot understand how you are charged so much for a run down, severely outdated, op-shop smelling, hazard-full knock down rebuild worthy house with a worse, boarded up one next door. There was no view out the back - it was just a regular backyard!? There was no wifi, we could barely get reception in most rooms. Even the oven didn’t work. I disclosed to the owners we had a senior dog (which was why we chose this house as it was only one of two available at that time that would accommodate animals) - the first thing he did was fall down the stairs to the split level kitchen so a heads up would’ve been nice. The back gate was also wide open when we arrived so luckily my daughter saw and secured it before he escaped. The hazards were everywhere - missing floorboard under the carpet in one of the bedrooms so my other daughter jarred her ankle, duct tape on an outside electrical cord hanging right outside the lounge room window, an unexpected step down into the main bedroom complete with bugs (cockroaches?), shower in the bath with a very awkward step in/out. I awoke with such a sore back after the first night in the main bed, we all had to play musical beds and/or sleep with your head at the foot of the bed to share around the uncomfortableness. So sorry, but how this place gets 5/5 ratings from most reviewers is just beyond me!? I booked this place based on the reviews and I just feel so hoodwinked. Maybe the reviews are fake?? I don’t know. One things for sure, I will certainly do more checks next time I book a place.
