About this house rental
NOTE: Between Memorial Day and Labor day We only book full weeks (exception is Immediately after Memorial Day weekend and immediately before Labor day weekend) with a Saturday arrival date (Check in in 4PM or after, Checkout 10:30 AM).
Built new in 2000, this is a home that feels like your home is at the lake. PONTOON BOAT IS FOR RENT SEPARATELY TO EXPERIENCED BOATERS (owner will send 2 contracts, one for cottage and 1 for pontoon boat) and available other weeks at a cost of $150per day (minimum 3 consecutive days or $600 for the full week) until approximately mid September. A pedal pontoon boat and 2 kayaks are included at no extra charges. Twin Lake is a 112 acre All Sports lake with a nice sandy bottom for swimming located 15 minutes from Downtown Muskegon.
1536 square feet of living area above grade, (the true way to measure square footage) so no scary or musty basement to send the young kids to sleep in. There is 60 feet of private frontage (great not to be sandwiched next to neighbors), no steep hills to navigate to the water and no homes across the paved road . There is an open concept main floor plan with 9 foot ceilings and the primary bedroom with its plush King bed the only bedroom on this level . Home has Central air, a row boat, a pontoon style pedalboat and is less than 15 minutes to downtown Muskegon, very popular Michigan Adventure Amusement Park and 30 minutes to the Port City Princess, Lake Michigan beaches and dozens of public golf courses. An open floor plan, Xfinity/Comcast cable and WIFI included, hardwood floors, central air and five ceiling fans will make a cool vacation. Very kid friendly with a deck and large windows to allow adults to keep an eye on the young ones .
The Lake has bass, pike and pan fish. A Serta IComfort King bed is located on the main floor plus 4 quality queen beds (no sleeper sofas, air mattresses or bunk beds for for the kids to fall off) on the second floor and a fire pit that was relocated closer to the main deck. (not in photos). We are on the quiet side of the lake only about 185 yards to an island perfect to play on with an island that shields the noise of power boats, Jet Skis and skiers significantly.
We average 70% repeat renters each summer and lots of good comments. We have a Weber grill and we are only a short walk to a public park. A great place to build family memories.
This cottage built in 2000 with optional 20 foot pontoon boat. Every year we have very good comments that it is clean upon arrival and how nice it is. Horse shoes (shared with neighboring property) and a fire pit are other features we failed to mention. Muskegon, with its proximity to Lake Michigan, is not as hot as many areas of West Michigan. The main floor was repainted in 2017 and a nice propane Weber grill assures you great cookouts. Unlike some owners our weekly price includes taxes.
NOTE: The dock is seasonal and only guaranteed to be in the lake between May 20th and until the last September weekend. Contact owner if you have questions regarding this that may impact your stay.
WE ARE A NO EVENTS HOME: Please note our home is in a family neighborhood and respecting our neighbors is very important to us. Family reunions, graduation parties, weddings and other similar events are not allowed. We are okay if there are 5 or less extra vehicles at the property, not to exceed one day of your stay, and the small get together party is over and short term guests have left by 11PM. If you are looking for a place to host an event, it is very appreciated if you look elsewhere. Like many inland lakes in Michigan, Twin Lake has occasional weeks that the lake is sprayed for Swimmer's itch or weeds. In that event, signs will be posted not to swim for 24 hours.

It was just what we expected. Pretty lake house… loved using the boat as well and the paddle boats and kayaks! Loved the big dining room table to eat and play cards and games at each night! Beds were very firm.

Everything was great, communication was excellent, the house was inviting. It was wonderful to wake up in the morning with the large windows at the back of the house to look out onto the lake.

We had a wonderful time. Dan, the host, couldn't have been nicer. The home is so well equipped we bought kitchen things that we didn't need to use because the kitchen was so well equipped right down to storage containers for leftovers! Beds were super comfy and the living, dining kitchen area is all open which was great. Lake wasn't too busy and we enjoyed all the toys that came with the house. Grands loved the fishing! Rained a couple days which gave us all a break from the sun. The deck provided both sun and shade which we appreciated. One tiny suggestion would be the firepit placement. We worried it was too close to the deck and think it would be better suited a bit farther from the deck. We will definitely come back to Dan's place, I strongly recommend it to other families too!

Our family of 9 stayed here in early June. 5 adults , 3 boys under 10 and 1 infant. Dan was a great host and communicator. The house was ready and clean upon arrival. Everyone had their own bed, which were fairly comfortable. 2 bathrooms accommodated everyone well during our stay.
We chose Dans home because it’s right on the lake for easy access, it had a sandy beach for the kids to play on and we wanted access to a boat, which was really nice.
We fished everyday from both the dock and the boat. Our catches ranged from largemouth bass, yellow perch, crappie, northern pike, pumpkin seed, and bluegill. Largemouth bass we’re by far the most caught coming in around 1-2 pounds each. The lake did have some hot spots that yielded more catches than others. One thing to note this is a shallow lake and you need to be careful in some areas to avoid beaching the boat. Dan has a map to show you those areas.
We did some adventures including Mac Woods Dune rides (40min away highly recommend). Ther he a lighthouse on Lake Michigan just a mile or so from the dunes that we also visited and bought tickets to climb to the top. We also did the Michigan Adventure Park (15 minutes away) they have a water park too, but it was not open yet. The park was fun, but did have limited hours of 10am to 4pm during our visit on a Wednesday. Nice and clean amusement park with lots of rides for smaller kids under 4ft and many for 4ft and above.
Overall a good time!

Nice way to kick off the summer
We stayed at Dan's place with our family of 5 and another family of 4 for a little end of the school year get away. It was a nice easy trip in from the GR area and the place looks as nice as or better than the pictures. We loved the pontoon paddle boats, kayaks, and renting the motorized pontoon boat as well to relax and explore the rest of the lake. It was especially great to have these since the weather was less than perfect. There was a fire pit, grill, and a nice sandy beach which helped to enhance that beach vacation summer vibe and were all used thoroughly. Dan was there to greet us when we arrived and showed us where everything was and even took us around for an introductory spin on the pontoon boat. Despite some cool and rainy weather, we had a great time and would definitely recommend Dan's place to anyone looking for a relaxing stay at a lake cottage.

Great Lake cottage
I spent a week at the end of August in this lake cottage. It exactly matches the pics and lake view is even better than the pics. Dan did a great job communicating and sharing info about local restaurants and attractions. My daughter enjoyed the peddle boat, playing in the sand, and swimming in the lake. My wife and I enjoyed the lake view throughout the day. The cottage can easily accommodate 8-10 people. I highly recommend it for families looking for a relaxing time by the water.

Peaceful, Clean and Cozy
Truly enjoyed our visit to Mr. T’s lakefront home. Home was very clean and had everything to make our stay cozy and easy. Fall weather, so unable to explore the lake, but enjoyed hiking at nearby Muskegon State Park. Will definitely visit again!

50th birthday vacation
I spent 3 nights at this great property with my husband, mother , cousin and in-laws.
The house was great and was stocked with everything we needed. We all enjoyed sitting outside in the deck during the day and outside around the campfire at night.
The lake was so peaceful and the area was so quiet.
The owner was wonderful and kept in contact with us. We had a minor issue with the refrigerator and he was able to get a repair man out quickly and he himself came by to check on us.
I would recommend this house to anyone looking to stay at a great place on a small, peaceful lake.

Family trip
We stayed with two small children, 4 adults and a baby. We had plenty of room and everyone really enjoyed their stay. Beds were comfortable, house was clean. The appliances were top notch and the kitchen was stocked with every Utencil or pan you could need. The view of the lake was great from the house. The hosts provided paddle boats, Life vests, some sand toys, and kayaks we were able to use. The weather wasn’t warm enough to swim the week we were there but the lake is so clear I would definitely enjoy it next time. The small island in the middle of the lake was fun to paddle to and explore. The walkable park had an ice cream shop we were able to enjoy before they closed the shop for the season. Manistee National Forest is a 15 minute drive and so beautiful. Dollar general was close and we were able to get anything we forgot or needed there. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and plan to come back next summer!

Great place for a wonderful getaway!
We had such a wonderful time at "Mr T's" house!!! The place was immaculate!!! Has everything you need to cook, bake and grill. (brand new Weber grill)! Well, you have to bring the food!!!! He replaced the queen bed in the master bedroom with the most comfy new king bed with mattress! Oh my it was so comfy. We loved taking our rides on the pontoon around the lake especially watching the sun go down!!We enjoyed the kayaks and the peddle boat, so fun to go to the island and back. Mr. T (Dan) is the nicest man you and is right there for you if you should have any questions or concerns.!!!!!! The neighbors are very friendly and even lent us their peddle boat so our family could go out together. (There is a weight limit) lol You won't be dissapointed at this vacation getaway!!! Dan is the best!!!!!!!

Perfect Family Getaway!!!!
We rented this place as a getaway for our family. We had 6 adults, 3 ‘big’ kids and a toddler stay at the house. It was absolutely perfect for our family!!! The weather was great! Accommodations were great! The owner was easy to get a hold of if we needed to. Would definitely recommend this place for families with children. The kids were out in the pedal boat and kayaks every day! They loved going over to the island. The neighbors were super friendly too! We honestly can’t say enough good about this place!!!

Enjoyable, comfortable, well stocked home facing beautiful Twin Lake.
This lake house had plenty of room for our group of 4 during our 7 week stay for work in the local area. The house looked as presented in the descriptions & photos. We appreciated the 2 full bathrooms & full kitchen with plenty of eating & cooking needs for us to prepare daily home cooked meals. The house was stocked with plenty of bath towels, bed linens & toilet paper. We purchased our own drinking water in jugs from local grocery stores during our stay as suggested on the house instruction sheet, since the house has a softener that caused the water to have a slightly salty/sulfur taste. We were grateful for the full size washer & dryer and the room they were in to store our work attire. The large front windows in the living area allowed us a wonderful view of Twin Lake and sky views of sunrises, sunsets & early winter storms. Due to us being there in chilly October & early November, we were not able to enjoy the outdoor amenities this home had to offer such as a dock, pontoon, kayaks, outdoor fire pit & patio. Dan communicated regularly & kept us informed of him taking care of home upkeep needs that would be completed during our stay such as putting away lake equipment & winterizing needs. Dan had suggestions for additional parking when he realized our parking needs were more than he anticipated for this rental driveway. Dan offered to extend our stay, if needed and we gratefully accepted another day due to our work needs.

Nice vacation home
We had a nice time during our stay. Dan was very responsive to questions and checked in with us to make sure we were doing well. I would definitely recommend this vacation home to others.

Perfect place to unwind and relax.
Why we enjoyed our stay:
1) Location and neighborhood - lakefront property in leafy serene neighborhood.
2) House - clean, tastefully decorated, homelike atmosphere.
3) Property manager easy to get a hold off
4) Kitchen is fully functional and comes with cooking paraphernalias. Apparently previous renters also leave unusued ingredients, spices, coffee, filters etc.
4) Relaxing and peaceful - note: there was construction on the Monday and Tuesday were there. But is was not an issue for us.
5) There's things to do for different types of people. You can just watch TV , be online, chill on the deck, boat/kayak/paddle boat, fish, grill, explore etc.

Worst vacation I have ever had!
The house is nice but showing some age. It was surface clean but needs a deep cleaning. The well water has a strong sulfur smell & Dan said you can't drink it. I spoke to Dan on the phone a couple of times as well as through email and text several times. He never mentioned that they were building a house about 5 feet from the master bedroom window. When we arrived Dan let us know that the neighbors on the left would be having a party on Sunday. There was a slab poured on the lot to the right of the house and Dan said that the people who owned it hadn't been working on the house so he didn't think it would be an issue but if they decided to start construction they were allowed to start at 7 am. Again in all of the conversations we had prior to this he had not mentioned that there was a house being built next door or that it was even a possibility. On Sunday the neighbors had their party and other than a couple of kids taking our stuff it was no problem at all. The neighbors were nice people and they mostly kept to themselves. They have several cats that use the sand box as a litter box so be prepared to clean it every day before the kids use it. The problem didn't start until Monday. We noticed a few people doing some construction work when we came home Monday afternoon. They started construction at 7 am sharp on Tuesday and the noise was deafening. For the rest of my vacation we woke up promptly at 7 am due to the sound of nail guns, reciprocating saws, men screaming to each other and a boom box blasting music. I like to sleep in on my vacation & relax next to the water with a good book or take a nap on the deck. That was not an option because the noise was unbearable. One day we decided to take the boat out on the lake and do some fishing to get away from all the noise, but the noise was just as loud in the middle of the lake! Obviously had we been told about the construction we would not have rented this house. Also, you are only allowed to use the central AC from 10 am to 10 pm and it doesn't go lower than 70 degrees which doesn't cool upstairs. The breeze was not enough to keep the upstairs cool so it was a too warm for most people. As if all that wasn't enough my son and I got swimmers itch from the lake and have been dealing with the most annoying itch I have ever felt since we got home. We didn't swim anywhere but the lake at the house so there is no possibility we got it somewhere else. Worst vacation ever!

Perfect!
What a great week we had! The house exceeded our expectations. Spotlessly clean and equipped with everything we could have needed and more. It was comfortable and homey, just the place to put up our feet and relax. Hope we can visit again in the future. The sandy beach is great for kids. Loved the large deck with all the seating it provided.

Great vacation house! So much fun for all in the family!
Property was clean, spacious, and had more amenities than we've ever had. Some of which were a 7 passenger pontoon boat, kayaks, paddle boat and two deck tables with more then enough chairs and life vests for all sizes.
There were plenty of beds and all of them were comfortable.
The views from the deck, dining room and front room were breathtaking. Our extended family of 7 all enjoyed the house, swimming on the beach and in the middle of the lake, from the included pontoon boat and our 5 yr old had a blast searching for sea shells. Our 10 year old spent a day with his grandfather at Michigan Adventures which was only a 25 minute drive away.
The owner, Dan, was so helpful and accommodating with any questions or instructions we needed. He also gave us a few great tips on restaurants that we tried.
The neighbors were also very friendly and helpful when needed.
If more than 5 stars was a review option, this rental would surely qualify!

Very relaxing & wonderful experience!
Our family really enjoyed our week at this lakeside home. Besides the wonderful weather, the clean house, all the amenities that come with the house (washer/dryer, dishwasher, etc)we ALL LOVED it! We were greeted the first night by a bald eagle, that we could watch catch it's dinner. We looked forward every day to looking for turtles, ducks & trying to catch fish. Thank you again for the wonderful time, we look forward to seeing you next year!

Great Vacation House
We are originally from Michigan and rented this house to spend time with our Michigan family. The house was very clean and comfortable. The water was very warm, and our granddaughter spent hours in the lake every day. Our family enjoyed the lake: fishing, kayaking, riding the paddle boat and pontoon boat, and playing in the water. The house was large enough to not only sleep most of our family, but to entertain those who couldn't come for the night as well. It was also close to shopping and the Christian Music Festival in Muskegon. We plan to come back, hopefully soon!

Very nice home and location!
Very nice home and location. Certain items in home are better than displayed in pictures (living room, laundry room, and pontoon). Other items such as the beach area could use some work to match the pictures on the site. Home is clean and neighbors are very friendly! The only bummer for us was not having wifi/tv for a day due to Comcast issues and being notified early in the week that we couldn't swim in the lake for 2 days of our vacation due to treatment for swimmer's itch. Comcast issue was clearly unavoidable - unclear if the lake treatment for swimmers itch was something pre-scheduled and not communicated to us or was something scheduled by DNR w/o any notification. Overall, a good experience..
