The hotel is well located. It has bus stops right outside - 1 route straight to the beach in less than 10 minutes, the other straight to the airport in around 45 minutes. There is a supermarket, an atm and a bakery all within a few minutes walk. There is also a restaurant in the hotel, which I did not try, but heard good things about. The hotel is very clean and when the housekeeper saw I had a small portable fan, she kindly left a larger one in my room. The room description is slightly confusing but there is a shower and sink in the room, and then shared toilet at the end of the corridor (not far).
The main reason for the low rating as a solo female traveller was the security. It was possible to walk from the street to my room door without opening any locks, and the first day I found the master keys to all the rooms on the corridor floor and handed them in. I checked out early after a man knocked on my room door and tried to kiss me, and then when I pushed him away tried to stroke my face. I do not speak French so am unsure who he was but he was there when I paid for the room. He may have been another guest. I did contact the hotel about a refund for the unused nights (which to be honest I wasn't really expecting) but they did not even reply to any of my emails. Just an acknowledgement of how distressing the situation was would have meant a lot.

A warm welcome by a lovely owner, a clean place and overall great value for money ; we stayed only one night but will happily come back!
I can't comment on the breakfast as we didn't have it

Very friendly and welcoming with great, traditional Basque food available in the hotel restaurant.
Rather surprised to find that the en-suite bathroom did not include a toilet! There was one toilet, shared between four rooms.

Property said there was a private bathroom, but there was actually only a shower and sink with no door. The toilet was outside the room, and shared with others (and not very clean). It smelled of old drains and there was no A/C. I found an old rag just dropped on the floor close to my bed.
Only after booking did we receive a message saying we had to check-in between 18h and 20h, and anything later would not be possible!

Thé hotel is very close to the French frigate Hermoine, a wood sailing warship from the 18th century, but the owner/manager was unaware of the Hermoine.
Thé hotel has a policy to not allow check-in after 8:00 pm. It’s still ‘afternoon in the summer at that time. My room had no AC, which is okay, but anyone taking the stairs to their room looks straight into my open window, generally seeing me in bed watching TV, or sleeping. Good for exhibitionists, but not for me. Plus, the bar/restaurant was not serving—dont know why.

Nothing much really.
There was no mention of a shared toilet in the description. The toilet was located at the end of the corridor, and had no privacy because of the glass window in the door. The bedroom was much smaller than we expected. The bathroom was tiny and had no door on it, the towels the size of a handtowel, and when brushng your teeth you ended up standing in the bedroom. It was very noisy first thing in the morning. The only parking was the public footpath out front, and the host wasn't accommodating to a check-in before 6 p.m. The only options for breakfast was 7 a.m. OR after 8:30 a.m.

The owner was super nice, very friendly with lots of advises to enjoy Bayonne. The room was large, clean and comfy for a group of friends. The area is quiet and safe, easy to park the car and close to the surfing beaches of biarritz and anglet
Well located for the car to go to Bayonne (10 min drive) but harder to walk from there (40 minutes)

We spent a weekend and our experience was very pleasant. Since we arrived, all the staff were close and very friendly. We had easy parking right in front of the hotel. And best of all, the amazing breakfast with homemade jams!
