Overall good. Very clean, well stocked.
Pros:
* Bed in master bedroom was comfy
* Kitchen was spacious and well stocked (thank you for the coffee and tea options!)
* Living room/dining room was spacious and comfortable. Enjoyed the pamphlets left in the box in the dining room with ideas of things to do locally.
* Wifi worked well
* Loved the Mrs. Meyer's cleaning products (hand soap, dish soap)
CONS:
* The listing description does not mention that this is a second floor unit - glad my parents ended up not coming because they would not have been able to get into the unit.
* Description says there is a window AC - this is very literal. There is "A" window AC which is in the laundry room and does not provide air conditioning to any of the 3 bedrooms, nor the kitchen, living room or dining room. We visited during an unusually hot spell, and only 2 windows in the unit open (two bedrooms) - so the 2 extra provided fans only blew around hot air. I did contact the owner who promptly dropped off two more area fans (now using four). To be fair, short of installing more AC units, I'm not sure what the owners could do because they have all of the windows sealed otherwise.
* Beds in other 2 rooms were uncomfortable and very noisy when rolling over for 2 teenagers (this is their report so take it for what it's worth).
Overall, I think this would be a great place if you're ok with a second floor unit, and it's a more reasonable temperature outside.

We stayed here for 4 nights and we're very comfortable. The kitchen is set up for use, and it is less than 500 feet to a typical Vermont country store for provisions. Very clean and everything worked well. There are stairs to get to the rooms so if stairs are hard, look closely at the picture. A great big living room and dining table. Be aware that there is only one bathroom, it wasn't a problem for us, but with the max number of people it might be. Nice place, good location, good manager.

Convenient location, clean, had everything we needed. Close to Okemo. Anything you need is a close drive away!

In the heart of town, this is a great location! Quaint historic carriage house is perfect for a weekend get away!

Nice place for our weekend ski trip to Okemo.
Kids enjoyed having their own rooms. The kitchen was well-stocked (thanks for the coffee and cream!) and the bathroom soaps were a welcome surprise.
The house is connected to the main house and shares a wall, but no access. If arriving at night, the yellow house is the right place. Just head towards the back of the house, and you’ll be all set!
Overall, the place was great.
We would be delighted to stay again!

Very clean, spacious and quiet, Perhaps above all, well located: Smitty's well-stocked grocery is across the road, the historic Stone House district is a minute north, Chester Commons a minute south and Springfield and Bellows Falls 20-30 minutes away.

Jenn’s carriage house was one of the best places we have ever rented. The house is well equipped and SUPER clean.
The beds were very comfortable and the space is very quiet. There were guests in the front house during our stay but we never heard noise.
Jenn provided some of the basics in the kitchen and laundry room.
We look forward to renting the space again.

Great Stay!
We enjoyed the unique flavor of the house. There was a nice backyard with a fire pit. Kids ages 21, 18, and 12 all loved the house as well as the community. Would definitely stay again.

Great location , Super cute.
The carriage house was in a great location and is super cute. Was nice and cozy, easy to relax in . Located next to the local police station made the girls trip feel safer. I would definitely re-book.

Mini ski trip to Killington & Okemo
Worked out great for us. 3 nice bedrooms for 3 guests . Kitchen had everything we needed. Nice main room to relax. Quiet neighborhood. Jennifer was great on updating us ( within 20 minutes) on why power went out ( someone hitting utility pole somewhere , restored within hour ).

Perfect!
This property was absolutely perfect for our ski trip to Okemo. It is warm and cozy, and perfectly equipped for cooking and entertainment. After a long day on the mountain, it's immensely appreciated to be able to stop by Shaw's or Smitty's directly on the way back and then relax within 15 minutes, without a long drive back. Our hosts had thought of everything, even leaving a little basket under the sink in the bathroom in case we had forgotten anything. Would absolutely recommend the Carriage House for any skiers or visitors to Chester, Ludlow, and the surroundings.

Fantastic Getaway, Responsive Host
Our weekend getaway with exactly what my family needed. From the very beginning when I had some questions about the property before booking, to the day of check out, Jennifer was a fantastic host. Everything was so clean and well-maintained.

Terrific COVID Holiday Stay
My husband and I and our teenager and college age child stayed there from right after Christmas through New Year’s. It was a lovely base from which to ski, shop, and sight see. Great having a little grocery next store since we cooked. Just as described and the owners are thoughtful and responsible.

Loved the Carriage House
I recently spent two weeks in Chester,VT in retreat from the crazy world. The attractive, beautifully remodeled old Carriage House was a lovely space to stay and the village of Chester was delightful. Although a few places were not open due to the pandemic, I found lots to do including long lovely walks in the area.

Wonderful stay!
We stayed here for a ski weekend with our family of 5. We absolutely loved it. The carriage house is clean, charming and has all the needed amenities. It is clear the hosts take great pride in this home. Jennifer was quick to respond to any questions & the instructions for the house were easy and made us feel right at home. We also enjoyed the convenience of the market across the street which really does have a good selection for anything you might need. This was one of our favorite VRBO stays and we hope to be back again soon!

Amazing Getaway!
My wife and I were looking for a little Vermont getaway spot. What we found was nothing short of amazing! The place was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. It is a shame our trip was not longer but we will most definitely be back!

Clean & quiet!
The carriage house is clean and very well kept! I grew up in the area so I knew what to expect, as far as what the small town of Chester has to offer. I miss the character and noises (creaking floors) that these older houses offer. Jennifer & Michael provide all the essential amenities you need! We have a 14 month old son and they provided gates, pac n play, and high chair! We loved the towels ;) We would reccomend this place to anyone needing a place to stay in the area!

Great place for Fall Foliage
The facility was certainly spacious, there were only two of us. One bathroom would make it a little cramped for many more people. The kitchen was spacious and adequately staffed. The oven was not usable as something had spilled and it smoked a great deal. Needed to be cleaned.
AS an added note, the owner/manager never contacted us after we checked in. I always think its a nice touch to reach out to your guests and make sure that they are comfortable and don't have any questions. Just a thought.

Very Uncomfortable Beds & Livingroom Furniture
The location is nice - good proximity to area attractions.
That said, two of the beds were horribly uncomfortable. Mattresses were crunchy sounding and felt thin & flimsy.
Livingroom furniture was like sitting on concrete. Impossible to relax at the end of the day. No local tv - must have your own Netflix or online account.
The porch steps are large stacked unlevel stones that are abnormally tall to the wood landing and without a handrail I stumbled forward on the dangerous top step and fell scraping my knee & cut my elbow and ultimately broke a window pane in the door (which I paid $300. to repair because it was antique glass; although there were other panes that had been replaced previously with new style glass). The handyman taped heavy paper over the open pane, so the only security between us and the outside world for 3 days was a piece of paper. We were afraid to leave our belongings, so basically we had to carry everything with us each day up & down the no handrail stairs.
No walkway from parking area to entry way so we had to walk thru wet grass to get to the door.
Kitchen was nice. Washer & dryer was great. Bathroom was good.

Homey, stylish and convenient....
My sister and I recommend this property. The homeowners are responsive and professional in all dealings.
The house is in a quaint part of town, private, well equipped and beautifully decorated. We slept well in the quiet. The washer/dryer and many of the linens seem brand new. It seems to be a special place and must have thoughtful guests because there is no damage, wear. We would stay again.

One of the coolest gems - A perfect vacation home
We loved out stay there. We live in a big city and came here for a vacation to get away from it all. It's such a neat town with so much character. WiFi works great and there is a convenient little store that you could throw a rock to, it's so close. We would stay there again in a heartbeat. Thanks for the hospitality.

Adorable carriage house !
We stayed in this precious carriage house for a weekend in early February. It was perfect for our family of four. The house was clean, all of the furnishings were new and fresh, beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. Having a washer and dryer was helpful too!
The house was a short drive to skiing, and we loved being in the heart of Chester. There is a market within walking distance with great food, wine and beer selections. Downtown is a short drive with a number of restaurants and cafes to choose from. Our kids loved sledding on the hill by the town pool, as well as in the backyard! I highly recommend the carriage house to anyone wanting to get away from it all in the charming town of Chester!
