About this house rental
We bought our wonderful house five years ago and have made many important renovations. The newest is a hybird bocce court/putting green, next to our new gunite, inground, solar-heated, salt-water swimming pool with hot tub, slide and basketball hoop. They're built and ready for fun. We also paved the gravel driveway. It's now asphalt with two additional parking spaces on the side.
Some of the previous upgrades include solar power, full house air conditioning, a brand new master bed/bath, new decks in the front and back, a rear deck pergola, new rear deck furniture, new window shades throughout the house, central vacuum, a new panoramic kitchen window and door, a new Celestron telescope, a new Bosch dishwasher, major upgrades to the goldfish/koi pond, a new second floor washer/dryer, a newly tiled Jack & Jill bathroom, a 220V Tesla charger and 110V outlets for electric car charging in the garage.
Three years ago we added a new 3-bed raised vegetable and flower garden. You'll be able to pick a fresh tomato or zucchini for your salad. We also finished painting the front porch, rear deck, pergola and swing. Then we removed two kitchen cabinets and the window to create the space for a gigantic panoramic window and door. The view from the kitchen is now breathtaking. Last year's improvements were the addition of a panoramic bay window in the TV room. We now have a wall of glass to view the backyard and the creek. We also rebuilt the gazebo and screened it in with a new roof and new railing.
Our house has some very unique characteristics. It is very large, with two master bedrooms, equally wonderful, but different. The first one has a new bathroom with a large multi-directional spray shower and a double sink that rests on an 1880 French dresser. The second master bedroom has a beautiful sitting area and large bathroom with a combination tub/shower and a personal dressing table.
The swimming pool is the hub of activity in the backyard. The kids use the helical slide again and again and the basketball hoop is great fun. The side yards are big and good for children to run around and play while you BBQ out back or sip a cocktail on the deck or in the heated spa. You also have free use of the canoe.
Downstairs there are two bedrooms, each with separate full baths, one being a newly tiled Jack and Jill connecting bathroom. One bedroom has a regular-sized crib, a portacrib and a pack-n-play. There is plenty of closet space as well.
Upstairs also includes an office with a view of the creek. It has a convertible sofa, which I didn't list as a fifth bedroom, but could function as one.
Some of the more unique features are a library with a spiral staircase, that leads to a large children’s playroom above the garage (which includes a wonderful set of Lionel electric trains and a dollhouse). Adjacent to the library is a TV room with comfy chairs.
The eat-in kitchen has all the standard and luxury amenities, including a new gas range, a new Bosch dishwasher, a microwave, a blender and a Keurig machine.
There are very few bugs and mosquitoes (not none, but few). We sit on the back deck, with a glass of wine, until the sun goes down and don’t need bug spray. And we just added an outdoor ceiling fan that is very refreshing while blowing any bugs away. There's also a covered, two-seat swing next to the creek; a good spot to watch the ducks, swans and geese swim by. When it's quiet, you'll see deer and wild turkeys visit the property.
The house is special and mainly for our family’s use, so we ask you to take good care of it. It's on a very quiet residential street, with very few cars. You'll be right in the middle of wine and farm country and right next to Greenport. The Orient Point Ferry to Connecticut is only 19 minutes away (possible day trips include a visit to Mohegan Sun). The south fork of Long Island is a hop and a skip away via Shelter Island ferries.

Had a great time with my family. House was clean and had great amenities. Pool was awesome. Kids had a great time putting on the green and feeding the koi. Location is great. House is very close to restaurants, beaches and other activities. Highly recommend.

Our stay in Phil's beautiful home was amazing. Our family of 10, 5 adults and 5 children loved all the wonderful amenities. We have been renting in Southold for many years and this house was the best one yet. I actually hate to give it such a great review; I want to keep this secret hideaway to myself! The grandkids all agreed this was their favorite yet. With a beautiful pool with slide and basketball and hot tub, the putting green, cornhole, model trains and dollhouse for the kids, it had something for everyone. They also loved the koi pond and feeding the fish every day. The creek view was lovely and peaceful but the access was not easy for children. From the backyard we saw deer, egrets, herons and Osprey. The house is organized so well. Plenty of space for everyone to enjoy. Four full bathrooms was an extra bonus. My favorite place was the screened in gazebo; great for reading and relaxing in peace. The property was well maintained and very private; it could not have been better. We also loved the location of the property. Quick access to Greenport and Southold restaurants and entertainment. I would definitely try the scenic boat cruise in Greenport with Dave. Phil was a pleasure to deal with, always ready for any question or helpful advice. He even told us to pick the vegetables in his garden for our use. We could not have been more pleased; this was an exceptional vacation with a truly delightful host. Highly recommend this property!

50th wedding anniversary celebration
We rented Philip’s house to have a place for our extended family to stay as we celebrated my parent’s wedding anniversary. The house and its wonderful location really helped make our north folk time memorable. House and property are gorgeous with pictures and descriptions very accurate. Philip is great to coordinate with. My 8 year old loved the neighborhood spending a lot of time scootering and biking around as well as finding shells and rocks by the water on the property. Crib for my niece made travel easy and my son loved the toys in the library. Everyone commented that the beds were very comfortable. We took a day trip to orient point and went to greenport several times in addition to visiting the local wineries. The garden was in full bloom so we got to enjoy some tomatoes! Definitely highly recommend and look forward to visiting again!

Perfect home for annual family trip
We vacation to Southold every summer to visit our grandparents. We outgrew the family home with the addition of three babies in the last couple years and needed a new home base. We planned on still spending our days at our grandparents home but the Chasen house was so amazing that we ended up spending majority of our 10 days there! The house was perfect, clean and comfortable with everything we needed for fun and to cook delicious dinners every night. The babies LOVED the back yard. The lawn, swing, garden and koi pond kept them highly entertained. There was plenty of room for 3 couples and 3 kids to comfortably spread out. The house was perfectly located and we loved being on the creek. We are already talking about going back next year. I think we found our new Southold home base!

Rejuvenating time on the North Fork
We spent two weeks at Philip's house. Everything is as-advertised in the posting. The house is in a very quiet neighborhood - just what we wanted. The waterfront location is excellent for those who enjoy canoeing or kayaking (like us). Plenty of great places for walking, too. Philip has invested in a lot of upgrades in the house. The bedrooms are spacious and the Kitchen/Deck area is great to hang out on. All-in-all, just what we were looking for.

First time on North Fork
We had a good stay at Philip’s home. The creek was good for kayaking and canoeing. Close to town and lots of farms. Greenport was very charming with lots of good dining options.

Gorgeous house in a great location!
We stayed at this absolute gem of a house for a week in early August 2020. The check in and out process was very easy. The owner was very responsive, and extraordinarily pleasant in his communications.
The house and property were wonderful. Our son thoroughly enjoyed feeding the fish in the koi pond, and watching for jumping fish in the lake. The view of the water from the house is fantastic - so picturesque and peaceful! The house had toys, which our toddler son was delighted to play with, and some kids' books. We also made use of the crib, which was a super helpful addition - we have used pack and plays at other rentals, but a crib is way more comfortable, so it is a great perk to this house!!
The house is in an excellent location. We rented bikes during our stay, and biked to coffee shops, restaurants, and wineries. It's also an easy drive to Greenport.
The house was very clean, and is very well maintained. The AC, dishwasher, and laundry all worked perfectly. We would rent this house again in the future.

Water problems and dirty
When we arrived and washed our water bottles we immediately noticed water pouring out under the sink. Was like this till late in the evening day 2 when owner secured a plumber. Two nights cooking dinner with water pouring out from under the sink. Mopped it up with all the towels then had to do many loads of laundry so we had towels in the bath. Overall door jams, light switches were dirty. Fallen grout and mold in bathrooms. Dirty fake flowers. Owner was demanding and aggressive to deal with, did not apologize for the inconvenience caused by the water problem and did not offer any compensation until I filed a grievance. Then he offered 1/2 of one night but we were dealing with the water problem for two nights of our four night stay and when I brought that up plus dirt, he withdrew the credit.

Home away from quarantine madness
We booked this lovely southold property to get away from the city after three months of quarantine madness. Two families including 2 children. The property was exactly as described and Phillip was responsive about all questions right from the very beginning. We loved the backyard (no issue with the lake and our two year old) and the rooms were all fully stocked. Would visit again!

Beautiful home
Thank you for providing such a beautiful home for our family vacation. You were so accommodating for all our needs and questions before and during our week.
The house is perfectly located between beautiful beaches and great golf courses.
We golfed every morning and enjoyed the beautifully appointed back garden each evening.
Such a lovely location.
See you again next year.

Great Place for Family Gathering
My extended family of 9 (5 adults and 4 teens) had a wonderful stay at Phillip's property. We enjoyed mornings and evenings on the back porch, made a couple of big, nice dinners using Phillip's well-stocked kitchen and grill, gathered around the TV for movies, and slept great! Our favorite feature was the back porch and view of the water (which is exactly how pictured in the photos). The location is fantastic as well--with easy access to the beach, restaurants, wineries, and farm stands. Highly recommended!

Great family trip to Southold
I rented this house with my spouse and two small children. The house was clean, well stocked with all sorts of supplies for us like napkins and paper towels, the backyard was beautiful, there were toys for kids, and it was comfortable to sit in their family room at night and watch television as well as eat outside on the deck. The beds were also very comfortable and there were lots of extra linens if needed. We had a great stay. Note to the families with small children, it’s probably not the perfect house for you in that the backyard has no fence and opens up onto a waterway, and if you have more than one child there are two bedrooms downstairs and two bedrooms upstairs . However, We did travel with a four-year-old and one-year-old and made it work for us, we just needed to be on guard the whole time in the yard as our kids were intrigued by the water. Our kids really thought the house was a lot of fun we made it work to have one child sleep downstairs and one child sleep upstairs. There also would have been ample room for kids to share a bedroom if that was the preference. Addition to the crib which I knew was coming with the house, there was also a pack and play which would’ve been nice if you were traveling with a larger group or two kids who still use some sort of a crib at night. The washing machine and dryer were brand new and worked fabulously and were a real treat for us New Yorkers. The location of the house was very convenient to the town of Southold and many activities on the North Fork. We did not use the train, but it was also relatively close to the train station from what I could see on the map. We never had a chance to visit The local beach because we had other activities going on for the weekend, but for those traveling with families we thought Harbes family Farm in Mattituck was fantastic. Overall we had a lot of fun and we would return. We appreciated Phillips responsiveness before our arrival.

Beautiful home in a very nice area close to the vineyards and ferry
We loved our stay at this beautiful home situated on a peaceful river despite the weather not cooperating for our weekend. The home was clean and well appointed with everything we needed and more. The neighborhood was very peaceful and seemed safe for children. We were only 5 mins from the first vineyard on our stop and 5 mins from quaint Greenport Center and about 20 mins from the Orient Point ferry. Philip, the owner of the home, was very responsive to our questions despite being in Europe at the time. He also had an electric plug-in port which was great for our plug-in hybrid. We would absolutely stay here again the next time we come to the North Fork of Long Island.

Great Northfork Getaway!
This house was perfect for a stay on the North Fork. Very clean, everything was as advertised! Location is perfect...close to Greenport and wineries, secluded enough for quiet nights on the back deck. Would love to spend time here again!

Beautiful home. Great place for any kind of getaway
We loved our weekend at this home! Our family of 6 adults and 1 toddler had a wonderful weekend at this home. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms - we could have brought 4 lore easily. The house was clean and well maintained. The kitchen was well stocked, as was the library. My grandson enjoyed the toys and my son in law enjoyed the kayak. The view and backyard are beautiful and relaxing. While in the house it was quiet and serene. We saw a variety of birds ducks, geese, swan, egret, as well as a wild turkey and a hawk. And we weren't far from things to do! Philip was extremely helpful and patient with all of my questions. Highly recommended.
