Bathroom was a little small and no storage space

I brought my daughter for a few days of relaxation before she begins her career as a teacher in a couple of weeks. The Mona Lisa was the perfect size for her us and we loved the location just outside of the business of town. We enjoyed watching fireflies from the patio and caught sight of multiple deer while here. I hope to return one day.

Bedding for pull out was In Bad shape. Blankets and padding very stained. Everything else was in good shape.

100% honest review summarized: this place will be fine as a place to sleep for a couple and maybe a very small child. It's very close to bathhouse row in Hot spring NP. I also saw no signs of bed bugs, or any other living bugs for that matter. The area was peaceful. The surrounding units were apparently empty during our stay. We had a good view from our patio.
Unfortunately, the unit has a noticeable odor throughout. There's no vent hood over the stove, so you have to open the patio doors to cook, so we ate out instead. There was dust and crumbs on the kitchen floor, which I noticed after it stuck to my feet 10 minutes after we arrived. Hair on furniture. There's mismatched furniture, and not in a cute way. The couch is tiny and so stiff we couldn't use it. The TV evidently had no remote and only had basic cable after we found the power button. So we didnt use it. Mattress was hard. A few of these little details wouldn't have been an issue, but it really felt like a thrown together unit to make a quick buck. Very uninviting for a anniversary trip. I was actually very disappointed and upset on the first that I chose this place.
I was unable to contact the renter through the app with questions. Days passed and our stay was over with no reply. After our stay was over, i thought maybe we were supposed to email them directly? I tried and got a automated sounding email later with a link to another email and no real reply. I wouldn't stay here ever again.

Property was in a excellent location.. close to everything. Villa was beautiful and so peaceful.. only issues were no response from the Property manager we emailed and text and called no response, no remote to the TV, internet was not good at all.

Very nice clean charming Cottage. Quiet neighborhood.

Honesty counts
My husband & I thought this was a cute cottage from everything we read about it online. Our first night was sleepless as there were critters running in the attic as this backs up to the woods. We reported it to the manager the following evening. On that following evening the sewer backed up and we were flooded with feces. I’m not kidding! We called the management but he said there wouldn’t be anyone out til the following morning! It was horrible! It was coming out into the kitchen and hall. We packed our belongings late at night and headed out of town. Needless to say, we had a hard time finding a place to stay cause we were btw 2 spring breaks. After we arrived home we contacted management (Evolve) and we weee able to resolve some of the issue, however, they didn’t refund all our money! We sent them copies of our receipts for what we paid. We were highly disappointed in this property and would never ever recommend it to our friends! They’ve even asked where we stayed and I tell them it was not a good experience! Think twice before renting this! I must say the manager on duty was sympathetic and even sent us pictures so that we could submit to Evolve. Thank you for that!

End of school getaway
No fuss “checking in”; very clean; very private; fastidiously decorated; everything we needed. It was a very pleasant stay.
If you’re sensitive to scents, you may ask your host to remove the plug-in air freshener. It wasn’t overwhelming, just kind of strong. Otherwise, it was a perfect cabin.

Mona Lisa was a cute, quiet & comfortable villa. Very convenient to downtown Hot Springs.
I would like to have known that the property had a bath/hot tub and how to have been able to gain access to it.
The back deck could have been swept or blown clean of debris on day of arrival

Not impressed
This property did not meet our expectations based on the descriptions in the listing. The couch was broken and incredibly uncomfortable. We had hoped for a cozy place where we could hang out, get some work done, and watch some final four basketball. Instead, we were uncomfortable enough we spent the day out and about in Hot Springs and had to find the final four games on our laptop because the channel was not available on the tv service provided. The bathroom includes a note to throw away the used toilet paper rather than flushing it and there is not central heat or air. More importantly, nothing about this location would be accessible for anyone with mobility issues or older people who struggle with balance. A wheelchair would not be able to navigate this property. We have had many VRBO experiences we love, including in rustic cabins. This one, however, was disappointing.

Loved the place and location
Loved the location. It’s time to upgrade the mattress and I’m still waiting on someone to contact me regarding the ants.

Pretty views but no sleep
The house was very nice and pretty, as well as the view. We had 3 nights reserved. The first night we heard animals in the ceiling and the walls that kept us up all night. They were scratching and running around. We promptly reserved a hotel room the next morning for our other 2 nights that we were in Hot Springs. We reached out to the email we were given for contact and informed them but we never heard anything back. I give them a 2 because the views were very nice but there was absolutely no way we could have stayed there.

Quiet, beautiful spot for a couples get away. Not being able to flush toilet paper was inconvenient.

Cute place if you don’t mind animals in the walls
The property is very cute and right next to the woods. The place was clean except for a colony of ants running around in the pantry cabinet and around the kitchen. Also on the first night there was thumping, knocking, and scratching on the other side of our headboard. Sounded like it was in the walls and sometimes in the ceiling. Pretty sure it was raccoons since the next night we saw a couple run under the house. Made it hard to sleep because it was fairly loud and disruptive. I didn’t sleep much at all the first night. Manager said they would put us in a different unit by the end of the second day but that never happened so there was no follow through. The second night there were more noises but not as much. It’s a great location with pretty scenery and a cute place BUT disruptive animals and poor communication from host is holding it back.

Not for us
Cat smell made husbands allergies. Contacted owner she said she did not know anything about a cat being in the house. We had to leave the second night because allergies so bad. We found cat food and cat litter under the sink. Ants in kitchen and bathroom. Hair on bed sheets and in the bathroom.. Blood spot on quilt on couch.

Great trip!
Upon arriving we saw a fox, a raccoon, and a groundhog! Really cool! Down the street we saw two deer! The grounds, the trees and the environment were very relaxing!
We had everything we needed to sleep comfortably and to cook the meals that we had planned. All of the activities that we were interested in were nearby and easy to find. Overall this was a great trip!
The few things that we recommend are to disclose that there is no central heat and air; there are only window units and a stand alone heater. Additionally, directions for entry need to specify there is NO KEY. We only had a code to enter and the door did not lock automatically. Last, make sure to mention that guests should make reservations for bath houses ahead of time or immediately upon arrival.

Cute, Elegant place with just what we needed!!! *****
My wife and I stayed as a quick getaway. This place was just what we were looking for. The house was nice and perfect for the two of us. We loved being close to downtown, but still being off the main traffic. We will definitely come back!

May Be Good for Some - Not Great for Us
Pros: Close to town, in nature, charming area, very clean, friendly owners, quiet
Cons: plumbing issues, internet issues, no central heat and air, cramped
We rented the Mona Lisa for a full week to work remote and explore Hot Springs in the evenings. While the listing may be ok for someone who will not be spending a lot of time there it wasn’t appropriate for what we needed in a work-remote scenario. We cut our seven-day trip short.
Plumbing:
Firstly, the owner asks that no toilet paper of any kind be flushed in the toilet. It was not disclosed in the listing that the toilet plumbing was in disrepair so much so that any soiled toilet tissue must be placed in the open trash can provided. This created an unpleasant and unsanitary situation in the only bathroom in the property.
Inaccurate photos:
We chose this property specifically because it had a desk and chair where I could set up my workstation for the week. Upon arrival we realized that the photos in the listing were outdated and no longer reflected the current state of the property where the desk has been replaced by two cabinets and the chair is gone. The full-length mirror featured in the photos is also missing. We worked with the owner to correct this issue and moved in a desk from another unit.
Heat and Air:
Only after we had booked the property on VRBO did we receive an email disclosing that the property did not have heat and we’d be using an exposed flame propane space heater to heat the property. Which is actually a mobile home. This made us nervous.
Wifi:
While there is technically wifi, it is far too weak to support Zoom calls or any sort of streaming. Again, this may not be an issue for everyone but working remotely this was critical.
Animal Visitors:
An animal (assumed to be a raccoon) had crawled into the crawl space/attic and was burrowing/scratching at all hours of the night preventing us from getting any rest until the wee hours of the morning. We did contact the owners via text message on Friday (our first night on property) and they said they would attempt to solve the situation with live traps.
If you’re looking for a rustic get away this could be a fine property for you, but keep in mind the state of the plumbing, heating, and wifi. We did not want to cancel our stay because the owners were kind, but we did move to a hotel after 4 nights of our planned 7-night stay.

Super cute! It has everything you need for a great weekend. We highly recommend this property if you are looking to be close the action of Hot Springs without being in it.

Cute little place
Close to everything on the main strip in Hot Springs. The outdoor grill needs to be replaced. It’s a shame that a bigger grill isn’t available for the very roomy deck that it has. Overall the place was like home and provided everything we needed. Would stay there again.

Perfect location and just the right size for me and my wife.
The only issue was the lack of instructions on operating the lock on the door. That was the only real hiccup.

Weekend trip
The accommodations were very clean. I did not like that we were asked to not flush toilet paper because the pipes were old ..that is just very unsanitary. Also it was difficult to open the freezer door on the refrigerator because it was jammed next to a wall. There was no space in the kitchen to open the oven door either. There needed to be a few minor upgrades to the curtains and the furniture. We had difficulty with the door lock and rhe gas space heater, but those issues were resolved quickly. My friends and I had a nice weekend but will probably not go back to this particular unit again.

Overall we enjoyed our stay in the Mona Lisa and it was a good value for our stay. My husband and there were there for 6 nights, probably a bit longer than most so some of my observations wouldn’t have mentioned if just a weekend visit. I am sharing details that hopefully help you prepare. It is conveniently located, a quick 5 minute drive to the historic center. The property is quiet, although the drive through the neighborhood to get there may take you back upon first arrival. We had no issues or concerns while there. Interior is clean and has the space needed for two people. Bedroom is spacious and the bed is comfortable but firm. Pillows were good as well. They have added a window unit to the bedroom plus there is a ceiling fan so no concerns with staying cool in there. Bathroom is small but works, be sure to use the shelves behind the mirror since there is limited counter space. Towels were nice and plenty for two people. Somethings to keep in mind. There are only 4 plates and 4 bowls, so if you are planning to eat in be prepared to do dishes frequently or bring paper plates. Kitchen is stocked well otherwise. The oven generated a lot of heat when used, definitely needed the fan we pulled out of the closet in the bedroom. The living room / dining area is a good size and large TV. The couch is not very comfortable. Again for a weekend, probably wouldn't have used it much. For us, we had long days of hiking so in the evening we wanted a comfortable place to sit. My disappointment was the deck area. It does not look like the photo any longer. The two chairs are there but the chairs to the table are gone. In there place are two old inside style wooden stools, one of which is broken, thus making it unusable to have dinner outside. Additionally the was extremely dirty. It was right next to the window unit for the living room, which needs to be cleaned. This combination resulted in a dirty window in the living room that impeded the view from the table inside and made the deck area uninviting.

Really close to town and even closer to the forest. Coffee in the morning on the deck over-looking the forest was really nice. Thanks for an excellent stay. I would stay here again!

Perfect getaway to a cabin in the woods
This was a beautiful property with a wonderful bathhouse. We thoroughly enjoyed the patio looking out into the woods and the close proximity to all that Hot Springs has to offer. It truly was the perfect getaway for us to spend some time together and just unplug from the world for a few days. The mountains and the city of Hot Springs is beautiful!
The owners were very helpful and friendly and my only regret is not writing in the journal that everyone else had written about their stay and that we couldn't stay longer!

The stay was perfect for our honeymoon!
We really enjoyed this location! Very quiet & relaxing for the getaway of our Honeymoon! Once youve unlocked the door of your cottage be sure to take the key with you always cause the door locks automatically behind you! The bed could use a mattress topper as it was very hard. Those 2 complaints don’t outweigh the good experience we had though. The cottage was just minutes away from everything and the communal bathhouse at the cottage was amazing! Deer and raccoons will walk right up while you’re sitting on the deck enjoying the view. We highly recommend this stay to anyone needing a quiet getaway!
