Fabulous views of the coast.Very tasteful decor.Excellent restaurant

We drove a rental and it was a challenge finding the place. The village roads are narrow and steep. I guess it had its own charm.
Every thing was perfect. Instructions for using the gadgets in the kitchenette would make it easier for non-spanish speaking folks.

This is a superb place to both stay and eat.
The accommodation is very well maintained to a very high standard and attended daily.
There's a superb communal roof terrace with stunning views of the sea and castle.
The restaurant has almost the same vistas and the food is just as stunning with some wonderful quirky twists.
This is all complemented by wonderful staff.
We love this place and have stayed and eaten on several occasions.
We'll definitely be back.
There's nothing not to like.

I would give La Roka 10 stars if this was possible. Host Enrique could not have been more welcoming and helpful. As long as you follow his explicit instructions for access, finding it is not a problem but be ready for windy roads and steep ascent. The view when you get there more than makes up for the thriller ride. View to the west over the former sugar cane fields from our balcony was sublime especially when treated to a spectacular sunset. Room was very comfortable and large shower much appreciated. We enjoyed coffee from the machine while sitting on terrace and having a lazy read. We ate in the superb restaurant on first night, very tasty food, jolly atmosphere and attentive staff. Restaurant noise didn’t bother us when we rolled up stairs , taxi free, after eating and drinking too much. There’s so much to see in this historic old town there wasn’t enough time to properly visit the sun terrace …. Maybe next time as there will definitely be another trip to La Roka.
Nothing negative

Everything was perfect.
This is not linked to the property, but the parking space was a difficult process.

The property was at the top of the town of Salobrena and we had a room with a balcony overlooking the sea which was lovely as could see the sun go down.
the room was quite small and is above the cafe which was closed whilst we were staying there so have no idea how noisy it might be when it is open. the parking can also be an issue as it is very limited and wasn’t easy to find a place to park. the near by car park was always full and to park in town meant a 15 minute hike up through the town.

Exceptional location and a great double room with a kitchenette.
*Certainly follow the instructions from the hotel since driving up to the hotel can be tricky if you don't have the correct instructions since it's up into an old part of town.* Free parking for compact cars is available, but limited.
We loved the entire experience and the La Roka restaurant on the ground floor! If you get the room with the kitchenette, I'd recommend bringing some food / cooking items up the hill with you. There's a small market, but it's not always open and there wasn't anything to cook with in the kitchen (ex: no butter or olive oil for a pan, no coffee/sugar/tea)-- so if you need something for breakfast, you'll have to travel down the hill to get it.

The view from the room is just amazing. Very well designed and decorated room. Rain shower. Everything you need.
It's very quiet in the mornings and afternoons but quite loud in the evening/night. If the restaurant is open, be aware that the terrace is right below the 2 rooms facing the sea. Its open until after midnight. In our case we didn't mind (earplugs) but if you prefer quiet nights with an open window this place might not be for you.

Lovely room, fantastic views , very relaxed and friendly environment, loved it !
Good bus service if you can’t manage the steep hill , the views and traditional Spanish village close to the castle with winding streets, bars and restaurants are worth it !

Location was excellent. Immediate response to a troubled coffee machine. Staff were great especially the Cleaner. We were initially concerned about the noise from the restaurant below, not an issue at all. Shower was good too. Balcony and outlook.
Perhaps a couple more hangers in the wardrobe ??

Beautiful room with direct sea view from the balcony. Large bathroom with great shower. Very friendly reception by host Enrike.
Vehicle access and parking can be somewhat difficult in the old town. The restaurant downstairs was closed for winter holidays.

The room has an exceptional view over the sea to Almunecar - it is captivating. There is a good sized balcony from which you can enjoy the view and the furniture is good quality - not bendy plastic stuff. The bathroom was also excellent.

Enrique, Maria and all of the staff work great as a team and together they produce an excellent experience
Restaurant has outstanding views, is very comfortable and great food to match
The room is overhead the restaurant and there is often loud music late into the night. Not rally a problem for us but worth keeping in mind if you like to get an early night.
