Sandy Shoes is beautifully constructed waterfront home located on the north side of Russell’s Island. Situated off of the main road and right on the water, it’s vibrant colors will surely catch your eye. Sandy Shoes is equipped with everything you will need in your vacation rental, but questions are always acceptable. A free golf is given to use to explore the island while staying here. The Sand Bar is one of the locals favorite restaurants and is only half a mile from Sandy Shoes. The house comes with kayaks and paddle boards so you can Kayak to nearby beaches or sit out on the deck, while having a cocktail, or sitting on the lounges by the water reading a great book. So if it’s relaxing at the beach or going on one of the best boat/land charters, Seagillian Life, then Sandy Shoes is the perfect place for you. First of all, Christy was in touch with us before we even arrived to make sure we were all set when we arrived. Then Christy and Shane met us at ferry dock with a golf cart to use during our stay and pointed out areas of interest on the way to property. The cottage is located on a beautiful, well maintained property with 2 other units, but this one is on the water. This well put together unit has a great view and there's no traffic buzzing by all day, so it's nice and quiet.The beach is right outside your door and is shared with the other units, but there are plenty of water toys, chairs, two day beds, and shade for everyone. There are two sets of stairs that lead into the water and there are turtles and fish right off the wall. Bring water shoes due to the urchins and the rocks, however. See sunrise and sunset right from your own beach!!! And if you are done with the gorgeous sunshine, or just need some A/C, the unit has good internet, Roku TV, a real washer and dryer, and some kitchen essentials (spices,foil, soap, oils, and dish-wares). And if you are coffee addicts like us, there's your standard coffee machine and a Keurig (you can buy individual pods at the grocery if you didn't bring your own). All in all a great stay in a quiet part of Spanish Wells.

We enjoyed this house so much! The location was perfect for us and I loved having both the sand and rocky shore. The house was beautiful and suited us perfectly! Christy and Shane were absolutely great also! We definitely recommend using them for a boating excursion! We can’t wait to come back!!

The house was very clean and cute, and the property is located in a very quiet area along with an amazing view. The owners were very nice and helpful with everything. We had no problems with communication or with the house at all. This is the perfect house for a relaxing stay in spanish wells.

We really wanted to love this place and give 5 stars but three things we wish we knew before we booked:
1) you are oceanfront, but there's no sand so be prepared to have water shoes
2) the water sports equipment and "beach" area is shared with other houses on the property, it's not yours
3) there are other houses being built on the property and it's effectively an active construction site...which means workers were milling around outside our house so there was 0 privacy for a few hours which was especially disappointing because my wife came out of the shower and saw someone through the window thinking this place was private.
Other than that, the house is lovely, the hosts were very communicative (and apologetic about the construction work), but the three things above would make me book a different place had I known :(

The only thing we thought there was a beach that you could walk on from the house.
But with the golf cart you could be at a beach in 5min or less.

We had the chance to spend a long weekend with our teenage daughters, and this home was perfect! The host is magnificent and super accommodating. The house itself was in immaculate condition, had all the things we could’ve needed, and was located in a beautiful area. We would love to come back as soon as possible. We cannot recommend this property highly enough.

The place was clean and included all of the amenities needed. The hosts were wonderful, picking us up at the ferry and leading us to the rental. The unit came with a golf cart which was great, and one less thing for us to deal with. Owners had a pack-and-play for us. They had kayaks, paddle boards, and beach furniture. While its not in the heart of Spanish Wells, its a small area and really easy to get around with the golf cart. We grilled lobster on the beach with the neighbors, and sat around a bonfire after the sun went down.
In short, it was everything you hope a rental will be when you book. 5 out of 5

We can’t say enough amazing things about this place or Christie and Shane! The house is the most adorable thing ever and I wanted to take it home with me! The location is great with the little beach! Nothing is longer than a 10 minute buggy ride away.
They were beyond helpful every step of the way even after our arrival! We had a buggy that didn’t want to start and they met us at a restaurant within minutes to switch it out. Our weather wasn’t the greatest, but Shane knew exactly when we would have the best chance at enjoying our excursion and it did not disappoint! Make sure to book something with him!!
Overall, we would recommend this property and anything else Christie and Shane are a part of! Such a lovely couple and their passion for Spanish Wells shows!

There are no words to describe this place, but I’ll try! Heaven on earth and paradise just aren’t descriptive enough. The super sweet hospitable owners went over and beyond to help coordinate arrival and departure for us and make it smooth. The place was very clean and I’m usually picky about cleanliness- we had 0 complaints. Love having a golf cart to ride. We didn’t get to use kayaks cause it was pretty windy and we were busy exploring on golf cart most time, but was nice to have anyway. Loved the outdoor bed on the beach, we watched the meteor shower and nice breeze kept bugs away. Close to main town on SW and far enough for privacy! Just a Fun “hop skip and jump” over the bridge on golf cart to SW island. Next time we are booking with Seagillian to enjoy some inshore and hopefully do more snorkeling behind house. If you’re hesitant to book on Russell island or here, don’t be! It’s completely safe(& I’m usually fearful of new places, but wasn’t there) and it was perfect location. Can’t wait to come back! Hopefully sooner than later and much longer stay. The layout was awesome. Porch was awesome. Beach behind house was awesome.
Only thing I would do different is bring a lot less clothes, a wide brim sun hat, a good pair of water shoes, a good fitting snorkel, and good camera or drone. Cell phone pics just don’t do it justice.

What an amazing vacation. My wife and I visited Spanish Wells for a week at the end of August-beginning of September. Sandy Shoes is a wonderful property. Absolutely gorgeous. Both the house and property are super clean. View is incredible. Christy and Shane are amazing hosts and are super nice people. Any request we had was dealt with Immediately, and there was absolutely nothing to complain about. Christy was kind enough to arrange transportation for us to and from the airport. She even took the time to give us a personal tour of the island and get us situated when we arrived. Property and hosts were 10/10. We are already planning our trip back. We cannot wait.

This trip was unbelievable! Christy and Shane were the best hosts we have ever had. Christy met us and showed us around town and we followed her to the cottage. They were so helpful finding a rental car and setting up transportation to and from the airport. The cottage was perfect and even better than advertised!

Spanish Wells Heaven
The rental property was wonderful. The water was beautiful. We rented from Christy a d Shane and also did an excursion thru them which was the highlight of the trip. Loved they had transportation for us already. And they made travel arrangements to get to the island. The house had everything we needed and even had kayaks and paddleboards which were fun as well. Couldn't have asked for a better trip. We got fresh fish and cooked ourselves one night but also ate at many of the restaurants. Definately would recommend anyone to book this stay. 5+ stars for sure!

Perfect stay!
My husband and I just returned from an amazing vacation in the Bahamas! Sandy Shoes/Sweetings Paradise was the perfect house for the two of us. The views are amazing and the location wonderful for a true-beach getaway! Thanks, Christy and Shane, for being such great hosts. You answered our questions quick, and the house was in perfect condition.
Suggestions for travelers: Eat at the what appears to be the locals' favorite restaurants...Eagle's Landing, The Gap, and Budda's Snack Shack. Great food at reasonable prices.
Enjoy the public park! It's honestly the prettiest location on Spanish Wells.
Rent a boat. We rented a 17-ft. boat from Harbourside Golf Cart & Boat Rentals. We went to a couple of the nearby islands and just parked the boat, walked the beach, and picnicked. It was wonderful...no buildings, no people. One of the islands DID have a few full-time residents: pigs, chickens, roosters, a turkey, and some ducks. LOL

Serene Sandy Shoes!
Yes, it's a little bit from "town" (15 min buggy ride), but it provides a peace and tranquility that is amazing. The view is incredible. The house is clean and modern. And, Christy is awesome. We plan to come again and rent two houses to accommodate more family.

We really enjoyed our stay! Both Christy and Shane were amazing and went above and beyond to help us in getting checked in and with airport transportation. They were also super cool. Shane also has an awesome boat and does charters. The house, while not large was perfectly appointed and comfortably accommodated us and our 2 teenagers. The deck and beach area were also amazing. Would definitely stay again!

Sandy Shoes was just what we needed for a relaxing getaway! The house had all necessities and was just as advertised (maybe even better). We spent so much time relaxing on the comfy front porch overlooking the water. Christy was such a great host and made getting on and off the island and to the airport easy. She was accommodating and helpful when we had unexpected changes. We really enjoyed the nature and culture of Spanish Wells and Sandy Shoes and highly recommend it.

Honeymoon
We had the absolute best getaway! We stayed here for our honeymoon and had an awesome time! The property is right in front of the water with many options such as paddle boarding and kayaking or just relaxing with a beautiful view! Christy was super on top of everything in terms of communication and replied quickly to all of our questions. The property was clean and exactly as pictured! All the locals were very nice and welcoming, Spanish Wells is the place to go!

Great vacation
We had a wonderful time. The other rentals on property were empty for most of our stay so it was very quiet and peaceful. Russell Island is a short ride from Spanish Wells, so still very easy to get to the grocer and restaurants. The rocks were sharp but the snorkeling was great around them. Shane and Christy made everything easy and were extremely responsive to questions. My family looks forward to a return trip someday.

Fantastic Getaway
Sandy Shoes is the perfect spot for relaxation and fun in the sun. My husband and I had a fantastic trip and Christy and Shane were phenomenal hosts. Christy arranged transportation to and from the airport. The cottage was very clean and had all the necessities you could need. The view is spectacular. What a wonderful way to wake up every morning! Whether lounging on the beach or playing cards on the porch, it was a great way to relax. Kayaks and paddleboards are at the cottage and we used them daily. We also enjoyed exploring the island on the golf cart and visiting different beach locations. There are several great restaurants on the island. The Sandbar, The Shipyard, Anchor Line, Buddha's Snack Shack (I especially enjoyed Virginia's Pina Coladas). We enjoyed every meal. We had a great time on our boat charter with Shane, his brother, Shannon and nephew, Eli. We got to swim with sea turtles, snorkel and try spear fishing. It was a highlight of the trip!. We definitely will be back with our son. Thank you Christy and Shane for such a fantastic getaway. You have a wonderful spot of heaven on earth.

Paradise
The best decision we made was to stay at Sandy Shoes!! The cottages is even more beautiful then pictures portray! Everything is clean, new and beds are super comfortable. The outdoor space is perfect for enjoying the breathtaking view of the ocean!! From the minute we booked Sandy Shoes, owners Christy and Shane answered all our questions promptly. Christy arranged transportation from airport to Spanish wells. They took time out of their busy day to pick us up and give us a tour of the area, providing information on restaurants and activities. We also enjoyed a half day charter with Shane and his brother Shannon! What a great experience and would highly recommend Seagillian to anyone interested in seeing the islands from a different perspective! We are already planning a return trip to Sandy Shoes - can’t wait!!

Glorious Getaway
We loved everything about Sandy Shoes, especially that it was away from everything. No noise except for the glorious sound of the waves. A short golf cart ride gets you into the laidback town of Spanish Wells. No vacation needed from this vacation, just a longing to come back 😊😊😊

We loved Sandy Shoes!
We have used VEBO for all of our vacations and Sandy Shoes did not disappoint! From the time we booked to the time we checked out Christy and Shane went above and beyond! Christy was on top of everything and arranged transportation from airport to Spanish Wells. Christy and Shane were there when we arrived and showed us around the island. When we arrived at the house it was exactly what we envisioned a true private gem! The house was clean and had everything we needed!
We were also able to charter Seagillian Life (Shane and Shenandoah’s charter company) for a day and had an amazing experience. I would highly recommend this experience. It allows you to experience the island life in a different way! We are planning another trip back to Sandy Shoes this summer! Thanks Christy and Shane for making our get away so fun!!

Remote and Relaxing
The house and property were just fantastic! My wife and I prefer to be on our own versus a cruise or resort with a lot of other people so this location was perfect. The house was very clean and well kept with all the amenities of home. Christy and Shane were very helpful with transportation and any questions we had. They really know how to take care of their guests. We were able to explore the island with the golf cart and the water with the kayaks. We saw lots of adolescent sea turtles that sped away as we got close. One morning we saw a shark chase and catch one right in front of us! We were stunned! It’s about 1.7 miles to St. George’s island but well worth the exercise if you’re into exploring. I climbed to the top and had a spectacular view! Our favorite restaurant was the Sand Bar just down the road. They have great fish tacos and tres leches cake for desert. We can’t thank Christy and Shane enough. We had a great time!

Sandy Shoes is the perfect place to spend a week. The house is immaculate and very comfortable with the nicest bedding and linens that we have ever had in a rental. This place truly feels like a home away from home. The owners Shane and Christy have put a lot of care into Sandy Shoes making it a special spot. The view is amazing and sitting on either the porch or at waters edge couldn’t be any more relaxing. Go exploring on the paddle boards or kayaks, you wouldn’t be disappointed. To get out on the water we spent and afternoon with Seagillian Life Charters. (Also owned by Shane and his brother) Had a great time spearing some lobster and fishing. If you are looking for an easy going and fun trip they are the way to go to fish and see Spanish Wells from the water. We can’t wait to return!

The fun adventure of getting to this quaint island was only the beginning. Christy and Shane were in contact with us before, during and after our arrival, meeting us at the dock and making sure we were comfortable and happy. The house is immaculately kept and the location spectacular. We enjoyed golf-carting to the local restaurants and beaches, or just the quiet of the Sandy Shoes property. Snorkeling out our back door was great (several turtles, star fish, lobster, eel, octopus, and more). If you’re looking for a quiet getaway, you can’t beat Sandy Shoes.

We found our Paradise!
AMAZING! Finding it hard to find all the right words to fully describe our stay at Sandy Shoes. It was our first vacation in 5 years and it did not disappoint! We wanted a place to relax, rewind and reset and that’s exactly what we got! Christy and Shane have gone above and beyond to make Sandy Shoes a true sanctuary! From help with transportation to and from the airport to a tour around the island to point out restaurants, grocery, gas station etc...we were definitely made to feel welcome! The locals were all so kind and friendly...the scenery was surreal...the peace, quiet and laid back atmosphere was just what we were seeking. Thank you, Christy & Shane for making our vacation one to remember! We WILL be back!

Super place to stay!
Christie was great and arranged everything for us ahead of time so that all we had to do was show up. Super impressed with the communication and the property was exactly as described. We had all the comforts of home but with a fantastic view in a wonderful community. There was another house on the same lot that was being constructed, and the noise from that early in the morning was a bit jarring, but we just went out and explored the island instead of staying at the house. We would definitely stay again, but we would make sure to have friends rent out the additional house on the property (when it's completed) so that we didn't lose that secluded feeling.
