About this cottage rental
This quiet summer cottage was built in the 1890's, it's original charm has been retained, while updates have made it a comfortable, easy home to vacation in. The house faces west, providing the most amazing sunsets over Ipswich Bay every evening.
A 4 bedroom summer cottage with beautiful water views from every room. The eat-in kitchen has a gas stove, microwave, refrigerator, or toaster oven, coffee maker, and dishwasher. Off the kitchen is a small porch with a large gas grill, there is also a Weber grill for charcoal grilling available.
There is a comfortable living room with smart TV, an inside porch with a cozy twin size daybed, and a dining area that leads outside to a huge wrap-around porch overlooking Ipswich Bay. The porch has a 2 big round tables, lots of nice teak chairs and side tables.
Upstairs there are 4 bedrooms and 1 full bath:
All beds have new luxury mattresses (Saatva), and linens.
3 queen bedrooms
1 king bedroom
All rooms have water views, including the bathroom.
There is a 1/2 bath off the kitchen and an outdoor hot water shower under the porch with an ocean view, alongside a very comfy hammock!
There is good, strong wifi in the whole house and yard.
Guests have access to the entire house except for the attic, inner cellar and the upstairs back closet.
Please observe the condition of the house at the beginning of your stay, if there is anything out of order let us know right away. We thank you very much for leaving the cottage as it was when you arrived.
Most nights get cooled down by ocean breezes, but if you do need the air conditioning , we appreciate that you only run it when needed. There are often drought conditions in the summer months, so please be careful with your water use when possible.
There is an additional refrigerator in the basement you are free to use, as well as the washer and dryer. Please take advantage of the breeze and the sun and hang your clothes outside, they will smell amazing! If you do use the dryer, please be sure to clean the lint trap.
Also in the basement are floaties, coolers & beach chairs, lawn games, fishing and snorkeling things... help yourself, just be sure to rinse anything you use with fresh water, and return them in good condition please.
Be very careful on the rocks they can very slippery at low tide and may be tippy, please watch and accompany small children at all times. Also be careful along the edge where the grass and the rocks meet, there has been erosion over the years and can be steep in spots. This being said, we swam and boated off these rocks our whole lives, at high tide there is a great "pool" area that fills up, the water is warmed by the rocks, it is perfect for kids or just for floating :)
Feel free to use any of the pantry foods, spices, condiments, etc. We are careful to dispose of anything old or stale, so anything that is here is still good stuff, please use it! This is an extremely well stocked kitchen, there is everything you could possibly need to prepare and serve any meal. There will be toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, laundry & dish soap to start you off, there is a Market Basket right off the rotary at route 128 for anything you may need. It's ok to leave behind any food or drink items that are sealed and in good condition, please dispose of anything else.
Kitchen trash bags can go into the big barrels in the basement. Please be sure to keep the basement door closed, as raccoons and bats can get into the house if left open! There are several recycling bins in the basement; please recycle cardboard & newspaper in one, and empty cans, bottles, and plastic in the other.
Before checking out:
-Please strip all beds, stuff the dirty sheets from each bed used bed in to one of the pillow cases, and leave with all dirty towels on the laundry table in the basement
-Please do all dishes and run the dishwasher before leaving
Thank you so much and enjoy your stay!

It was a true experience to be in a traditional summer place modernized creatively but true to its identity.
We loved it. And that location and the sunsets!
Used to live a mile or so north and being in my
Neighborhood felt great. Thankful.

I stayed here with my husband and two children. We all had an awesome time in the cozy cottage! My kids loved looking for crabs on the rocks, and we even saw a seal one day! The sunsets every evening were breathtaking! The property is in a great location. A short drive into the heart of Gloucester or Rockport, but in a nice quiet spot. The house had plenty of everything you would need, including bath towels, beach towels, toilet paper etc. It’s also nice that it was equipped with salt/pepper and other spices. We rent quite frequently, and usually you have to buy spices etc. Christina and Jamie were great, attentive hosts that checked in with us to make sure everything was up to par. I would definitely recommend!

Beautiful, well-appointed cottage in a prime location right on the water, with a large back deck perfect for dining and enjoying the incredible sunsets. Highlights include a small swimming beach a short walk down the road and a charming cafe with homemade pies also in walking distance.

Such an amazing property and what a view!!! It is truly an authentic New England sea coast home. The property was sufficiently stocked with all dishes, linens, etc…. Really amazing time in Gloucester. A quaint island with lots of character and beautiful scenery. I highly recommend going on whale cruise , it was amazing!! The seafood was terrific and the harbors were picturesque. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Good Lord willing, I’ll be back!

The expansive view from this house is hard to beat. We sat on the deck for hours at morning, noon, and evening - rotating with the sun - watching the lobster boats work their traps and the birds move with the tides. There is so much to do on Cape Ann and we took advantage of a lot, but it was also very special to come back to this charming, classic New England summer house after venturing out. The house is simple (but well appointed) and kept in excellent shape. The large yard is lovely, too - a very peaceful setting. Christina was a wonderful, gracious host. She was there to orient us to the house when we arrived and she checked in mid-stay to make sure all was a-okay. We have stayed at five other properties on Cape Ann and this experience was a stand out for the beauty of the waterfront setting.

This house was perfect for my friends and I. It was very clean and well stocked for cooking. It’s only 15 minutes if you want to visit Rockport or 30 minutes if you want to visit Crane, but it’s hard to leave the house with such a good view.

This is an older and very charming home, and in a really peaceful and quiet setting. We spent a lot of time playing on the rocks in front, swimming, and just relaxing while enjoying the water views from the yard and deck.

We had a great stay! The views and waterfront location were just amazing - we were outside all day and evening. We did tons of swimming, floating, reading, and just general water gazing. The house is simple in the best way, and the kitchen and bathrooms are up to date (no photos in the listing). I truly hope to come back - thank you!
