About this cottage rental
Oceanfront cottage with 200 feet of private pebble beach and beautiful view of Western Bay and mountains of Acadia National Park. Situated on 3/4 acre, this cottage is conveniently located in a quiet, wooded setting yet only 10 miles to Acadia National Park and 12 miles to Bar Harbor. Cottage has 2 bedrooms, living room, bath room, open kitchen with all new appliances, and spacious dining area with direct view of the ocean. Enjoy watching the sunrise over the mountains or the beauty of the moonlight on the water. Please be aware that this is a brand new cottage built in 2023-2024 to replace the old cabin we had on this property and to which the reviews refer. We tried to rebuild in the style of the old cabin because we loved it so much, but it was getting difficult to maintain after so many years. The new house has an even better view of the water than the old cabin because it is sited differently. It is fully insulated to Maine building code and has electric heat throughout.
Amenities: Electric heat, wood stove, WIFI. Please No Pets. No Smoking.
Activities: Swim, kayak, walk, bike, or just sit and read a book on the deck or private beach.
Area: Conveniently located between Ellsworth and Bar Harbor, directly on the shore. Dining, shopping, whale watches, nature cruises, hiking or biking in Acadia National Park.

Great place! Very quiet with awesome views and sunrises. Yet close to all the Mount Desert Island sites.

The cottage was very neat, clean, and nicely decorated.
The sunrises were beautiful and I enjoyed them with my morning coffee. We were very pleased about the location. So close to the park. Nice view of the bay with the surrounding mountains. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back! Pat, the hostess was extraordinary! Extremely helpful!

Wonderful cottage right on the water. Amazing views from the breakfast nook and deck. Wonderful bakery and lobster place two miles away. We had a perfect week long stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The location is excellent; close to a supermarket and restaurant with easy access to Acadia National Park, island towns, and Bar Harbor. The view from the dining area of the cottage can’t be beat. We spent a lot of time taking it in. With a well appointed kitchen, we were also able to prepare meals when we did not want to go out. This was our second stay here and we would most definitely stay again!

We just loved this cottage! Acadia is so busy in summer, but coming « home » to this cottage was so relaxing. I spent lots of time inside relaxing, reading and drawing, and outside gazing at the water and looking at rocks and shells. It’s a perfect retreat for a simple person like me. I loved the « camp » feeling and cosy wood everywhere.
Thank you for letting us stay!

Thank you Pat and Bob we had a wonderful time! The cabin was very well taken care of and we were very pleased with how well stocked it was. Very peaceful place with beautiful views. This cabin is one the best vacation spots we have had. We would come again if welcomed back.

Despite the weather being a bit rainy and foggy most days, we still had a wonderful vacation. The house was perfect. We were able to explore the beach during low tide and go kayaking when the weather was good. It is a short drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor with lots of excellent lobster pounds nearby. We had such a great time.

We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It was an easy drive to Acadia and being on the water was wonderful (perfect for swimming in early July). We will note that the cottage got very hot during the day (outdoor highs were in the low to mid 80s), but it did cool down nicely overnight with the use of a fan (provided). This wasn't an issue for us, as we were typically out exploring the area during the day.

My daughter and I loved our stay at this perfectly rustic cabin! It was a wonderful place to call "home" while we hiked Acadia and explored Bar Harbor. We loved the peaceful view of the ocean while eating on the front porch or reading on the deck. We appreciated the cleanliness and amenities, especially the electric heaters for the cool nights. Bob and Pat were excellent hosts making our check-in/check-out process easy and providing great tips for things to do around the area!

Our family of three very much enjoyed our week at Pat and Bob's place. The location on the water was just what we were looking for; the cottage is comfortable and was perfectly sized for the three of us. The place is clearly well cared for, and we appreciated the quick access to Ellsworth and all of MDI without the hustle of being in town. The location is SO delightfully quiet! We had one small plumbing problem, but Pat and Bob were great about communication and very accommodating. We hope to be back next time we travel to Maine!

Quiet cottage on bay with stunning view of Mount Desert Island. Used wood burning fireplace in morning. Short drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor for day trips.

We spent a week here for our honeymoon. Having access to the bay was a huge plus, and we saw all kinds of wildlife while kayaking. The deck is perfect for watching the tide come in. My favorite part was the breakfast nook overlooking the bay. The location is perfect (30 minutes from Acadia and 15 minutes from downtown Bar Harbor).
Hot tip: Sugar Bakery down the road has the most amazing treats.
We will definitely stay here again!

Maine Beachfront Getaway
My wife and I had a very relaxing week at the cabin. Great location -- we enjoyed the easy access to Mt. Desert Island, Bar Harbor, and Schoodic Peninsula. Short distance to stores and restaurants but still quiet and peaceful. Lots of birds around and the turkeys patrolling the yard were particularly amusing. Kitchen had everything we needed, the wood stove was nice on cool nights, and the bed was comfortable. Great view from the sunporch and deck and easy stairs to the beach.

Peaceful comfy, cottage, close to Acadia & other adventures.
Exactly the type of charming cottage we wanted. The cottage is very clean and well cared for. It had everything we needed. The owners are very attentive & easy to contact. I loved listening to the rain on the roof, exploring the seashore & watching the bald eagle that landed on the beach in front of the cabin. I would rent again.

25th Anniversary Trip
We celebrated our 25th Anniversary at this charming oceanfront cottage and had the most amazing week! The description is spot on, so we knew exactly what to expect. We wanted something that felt remote, yet close to everything and that’s exactly what we experienced here! We only saw one other person the whole week as we walked the shoreline at night. It took us about 20 minutes to get to Acadia and Bar Harbor and was a gorgeous drive. We saw seals swimming in the bay right from the table in the sunroom, turkeys in the backyard, and a huge porcupine climbing a tree. Our stay here was so relaxing in this beautiful part of our country and we hope to bring our 3 children someday!

Charming and peaceful
I cannot begin to explain how much we enjoyed staying at this cabin. This place is so special and charming! This “camp” is exactly what we hoped for with its simple and rustic style and amazing views. We loved being able to walk right down to the shore and spent many evenings hanging out by the water. The location was great too. It was a short drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia but was also nice to be away from the busier areas. The cabin has been extremely well cared for and we enjoyed the small details from the decor to the amenities. The owners were extremely great to work with - very organized, kind, thoughtful and professional. They have almost everything there for you - all you need to do is show up and enjoy the peace and beauty of Maine! While an uninsulated cabin may not be for everyone, the charm and character as well as the scenery is exactly what made our trip to Maine so special. We will be back!

A wonderful home-away-from-home in every way!
The cabin was exactly as described and truly a lovely place to stay for a week away from home. Communication with the owners was excellent. Very clean and cozy, kitchen full of utensils, propane grill, wood stove with lots of wood and baseboard heat for chilly mornings/evening. Amazing view, peaceful and quiet property with a very homey feel. Excellent all around. We will definitely be back!

Perfect & Peaceful
We were visiting Maine on our Honeymoon and chose the cottage because it looked cozy and seemed to be located in the perfect spot...and it was absolutely perfect! It was quiet and peaceful with a beautiful view of the water. Only a short drive to Bar Harbor, Acadia and Mt Desert Island. The towns of Trenton and Ellsworth were very close by as well for dining and grociers. From the porch of the cabin we saw loon, an Eagle and Harbor seal digging for clams. This happened daily and was quite interesting to watch. The cottage has everything you need. The beds are comfy, water pressure is great! We have no complaints! Can't wait to visit again! Tha nk you!

Seals and more
Great property location to Acadia and Schoodic, with seals, eagles and multitude of sea birds every sunrise and sunset just off the back steps. We loved this cabin, very clean and all we needed supplied. Caution to tall folks- doorways are low but otherwise had no complaints. Pat was also a kind and helpful hostess.

Lovely Cottage in a Peaceful Setting
Situated on the waterfront, great view from the dining area window. The kitchen was well equipped, and paper items were all well stocked. The cottage has a very homey feel to it. Easy access to Acadia National Park. The owners were great to work with; timely communications, easy to get in touch with and responsive.

A nice little camp on the Maine coast
We had a very pleasant stay at the Banach cottage. We have stayed in the area many times but this was our first stay at Banach. The pictures accurately portrayed the property. Patricia was helpful and sent us regular updates on the changing COVID protocols in Maine.
The kitchen was well supplied. Because of COVID-19, we were eating in and had everything we needed to prepare meals. The dull knives mentioned in earlier reviews had been sharpened so there was no issue with them. The dishwasher was a nice touch. Not every Maine cottage has one.
We were very impressed with the maintenance of the property. Not every older camp like this is as “up to code” as the wiring seemed to be here.
This is a lovely spot. In the morning we watched fish jumping, seals, osprey and bald eagles. It’s a good spot to kayak (at high tide) and not a bad swimming beach as long as you wear water shoes. We arrived during a Maine heat wave and couldn’t open the windows fast enough to let in the cooler sea breezes. On our second morning, we had to light a small fire to take the chill off and on our last morning the fog was so thick we couldn’t see across the cove, so we experienced a range of weather conditions The full moon over the water on our last night was extraordinary.
This is a great spot for the Maine camp experience. Thanks to the Banach’s for sharing it.

Lovely Cottage in a Perfect Location
Pat was excellent with communication right from our initial contact. The cottage was lovely and such a perfect escape from the crowds and bustle of Bar Harbor and Acadia. It was an amazing spot to paddle from and the kitchen was well equipped. We absolutely loved it. Watching the sunrise from the beach at low tide was a magical morning we will never forget.

Wonderful Location and Property
We have stayed on MDI multiple times and the property is in the perfect location for a quiet stay, but still 15 minutes to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Plenty of room for the 2 of us, we used the kitchen and grill to make meals and we loved the view from the table overlooking the water. The cabin had everything we needed. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Wonderful place, great location.
The entire experience was great. Communication could not have been better. The place is just as described. The location in proximity to Acadia and Bar Harbor is wonderful. Sunrises and seals. Marine life to observe during low tide. A great place I would not hesitate to stay at again. Thank you for sharing it.

A delightful stay at a lovely cottage
We had a wonderful vacation here, staying six nights. The cottage is lovely and the setting is spectacular. It's a rustic cabin but it is well-equipped. We spent most of our time in the sunroom or on the deck, watching the water and the ospreys fishing. It looks across the narrows to MDI. You can watch sunrise from here. The area is amazing and has everything from pounding surf to quiet inlets to mountains, quaint villages, and great seafood. The location is pretty convenient to MDI, about 20 minutes (with minimal traffic before Memorial Day) to the park or Bar Harbor. Guests should be aware that the cabin's rustic, the shower is small (but works fine) and you're perhaps more responsible for leaving it clean than at some other properties. We loved it and hope to return.

Had a lovely week in the cabin with my sister. Pat was very honest about what the cabin was (uninsulated summer place), and what it was not (super fancy), but it was really perfect for our needs. The kitchen was well stocked with kitchen tools, coffee pot, pans, sugar, spices, olive & vegetable oil, sandwich bags, aluminum foil, etc. We made some delicious meals - the only thing I found remotely lacking in the kitchen was that all of the knives were quite dull, so if you're a chef, byok (but beware, the cutting boards are glass). Living room was very cozy and warm with two electric heating units and the wood-burning stove. There is a speaker with an auxiliary input cable, plus guide books to the area and guest books to sign. My sister and I had a great time reading through the past entries. Some folks have stayed at the cabin many times, and we would be happy to go back! The bathroom was clean, and the water was hot (though the shower head sort of points at a funny angle so it's a bit hard if you've got a lot of hair to wash). The bedrooms were cozy with nice fluffy pillows. With the cabin being uninsulated and a pretty minimalist structure, we saw a couple spiders and moths as you might expect, but nothing to bother. The cabin sort of reminded me of a yurt you might rent out in a park, but with a lot more amenities and hot water (I mean this in a good way!). I actually am really glad we stayed here in the fall with some cold nights rather than summer, since we got the benefit of enjoying the wood-burning stove... though it would be nice to go back in summer to enjoy the patio and beach!Pat was very quick to respond to questions and very helpful and patient with me not being an experienced vrbo user, and also with sending information about Maine's COVID travel restrictions. Also, according to my sister who did all the driving, the cabin is in a good location to access different parts of Acadia National Park. It was also only a short drive from Bar Harbor, which was nice. Overall a very nice place to stay for our very isolated trip.

This lovely cottage feels like home. There are careful and considerate touches to make guests feel like old friends. The property is well stocked with everything a guest would need to be comfortable. The cottage is lovely and has everything you need (except, of course, linen and towels). Unforgettable evenings grilling, eating in the sun room and then retiring to the cozy living room to enjoy some ice cream by the wood burning stove. Pat is an exceptionally responsive and helpful host. I never had to wait more than a few minutes for a helpful email response whenever I had a question.
