About this house rental
Pinon Cottage is nestled in a private wooded setting on Long Pond, a favorite pond on Mount Desert Island for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, fishing and listening to the resident loons. Complete with its own dock on the pond, large deck with comfortable seating, hot tub, and screened in porch, this cottage is the perfect retreat for getting away from it all. Inside you will find quality furnishings and linens. With its central island location, you're never too far from any of the Island's villages, Acadia National Park, hiking on Beech Mountain, or picking up fresh produce at Beech Hill Farm.
Enjoy exclusive use of our canoe and two kayaks included with stay. We have a few life jackets, but if you need specific sizes best to bring your own life jackets if necessary.
Note: The home is open from April 1st until January 1st each year. It is closed for January, February and March.
LAYOUT:
Main Level: A walkway from the driveway leads you to a large screened in porch with ping pong table. From there, enter the house into a great room with a wall of windows and doors facing the lake. Coupled with the warm wood on the floors and ceiling, this creates a very bright and inviting space. The living room with comfortable seating and a large wall-mounted television is open to a dining area with a table that accommodates eight, and a kitchen with an island that has two stools. Beyond the kitchen is a full bathroom with shower and a stacking washer/dryer. Next you will find a bedroom with two sets of bunk beds (1 with a trundle).
Upper Level: Stairs at the front entry lead to a bedroom with queen bed and a ½ bath. The bedroom has a window overlooking the Living Room, which has a shade for privacy. A large window and skylight provide plenty of light. Should you need it, there is an AC unit in this room.
Outside: Doors between the living area and dining area lead to a large deck with comfortable furniture and a hot tub. At the base of the deck is a foot wash and you will find an outdoor shower on the side of the house. Take the short path down to the dock and enjoy the water!

We loved our time here! Was the perfect location for our adventures into Acadia. The house was clean, spacious, and well appointed. We LOVED having use of the canoe and kayaks. Quiet and peaceful area. Would absolutely stay here again.

Sometimes I find something so good I selfishly want to keep it to myself. That’s how this place felt. Location was incredible, close to everything, the lake is pristine and the perfect temperature water. My family and I made amazing memories here. I appreciate the owners thoughtfulness on the supplies and accommodations of the house.

The minute we opened the door and stepped into the cottage there was a group gasp at how beautiful the house was and view of the lake took our breath away.
A perfect vacation with swimming and kayaking from the dock, families of ducks eating out of our hands, eating meals prepared in the well equipped kitchen and best of all, having an early sunrise coffee while listening to the loons sing their mournful song on the lake.
Sheer paradise.

Both the home and location were magnificent. We enjoyed our mornings and evenings on the lake, swimming, kayaking, and fishing. So serene. And, during the day, the location provided easy access to our favorite Acadia adventures. The kitchen was stocked with absolutely everything we needed including great coffee to enjoy on the deck. Thank you for your thoughtful hospitality.

The cottage was everything that was promised. Location, location, location. The perfect place to split Bar Harbor and Southwest Harbor. It has such a wonderful private, secluded feel. The Ability to have canoes and kayaks they are ready to use was an added bonus. I would definitely recommend the cottage to anyone seeking to get away and relax.

We enjoyed our stay at this cabin on the lake. Check in was super easy and the cabin clean. Our four boys loved the kayaks, ping pong, and fishing in the lake. We would certainly stay again if we get in the area!

We had a wonderful stay! The owner and property manager were very accommodating when we asked last minute to add another night on when our plans changed. The property is lovely, well stocked and represented very appropriately. We definitely preferred this side (quiet side) of the island but you can get anywhere in 20 min. The kids loved fishing the lake! Would come back!

The tranquil lakeside cabin was perfect for our long weekend on Mount Desert Island. We were able to relax in the private hot tub after a day of exploring and kitchen table was a great location for family games. Since we were visiting 2 weeks before the Island fully opens for the summer season it was great to be able to cook in the well stocked kitchen. On our second night the clouds cleared and we caught a glimpse of the Northern Lights from the dock! I loved the all wooden interior and large windows overlooking the deck towards the lake. we were pleasantly surprised with the half bath off the master bedroom, this makes it easier for a small family to have a second toilet.
Overall this is a great cottage for a couple or small family and the outdoor space is fabulous!

This cabin was beautiful! It was even better than the pictures! The deck was incredible and the walk to the lake very short (you see the lake through the trees). It was such a peaceful place to stay and we wished we could have stayed longer than the extended weekend.
We didn’t use the kitchen because our stay was so short, but it appeared to have everything you could want in order to cook some great meals. Plenty of glasses, plates, etc for a larger group. The queen bed was very comfortable and the decor very tasteful. We didn’t need the “bunk room”, but it was spacious as well.
The location is perfect for access to all Acadia and the island has to offer, as well as just 20 minutes to Bar Harbor for shops and restaurants. We had such a fun long weekend and this cabin was an amazing spot for us to stay!

We had an amazing time at this house. Space fantastic- backyard on water. Very clean & organized. Extra towels available - for showers & hot tub. Kitchen well stocked.
Location cannot get any better.
It was so peaceful at night to have the HUGE hot tub and watch the stars and have snacks. The deck is very well organized. and the Dock is also so much fun- we loved to watch the kayaks and the water in the morning over coffee. We didn't have enough days to use the lake (BUT!! the owners generously supplied a canoe and Kayak for use). Honestly cannot get any better than this house. Wish we had more time off a work.
Only tiny incontinence - No shower/tub upstairs master bathroom. But honestly was not a problem because this was our romantic getaway. As long as the place has two separate bathrooms - it is fantastic in my opinion. Impeccably clean bathrooms completely stocked with tons extra towels- Big Big Big plus for us. The place has a great washer & dryer (Full size). But we do not like small tiny towels or it can be time consuming to keep washing/drying towels.
It's just as important to us to have a great place to stay (clean & safe) as the perfect destination.
We enjoyed this tremendously. We plan on making this a tradition for us to come and see the Fall foliage. and definitely a MUST- stay at this house. and hopefully get more time off work- to spend some extra time at house and on that beautifully amazing lake.
I cannot say enough good things about this place.

This property was perfect for our family trip to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. There was ample place for our family of 4 (and could accommodate more), the kitchen had everything we needed, the setting was natural and quiet and the lake was beautiful. Our favorite was soaking in the hot tub after a long day of hiking. The tub was spacious, clean and you can see the stars on a clear night. Highly recommend!

We loved our stay at this rental house. The bed was very comfortable, the ping pong was fun, the living room was cozy and the hottub was wonderful! We used the hottub every night that it didn’t rain. We also had morning coffee out on the dock by the water - a great way to start the day. The place is centrally located to everything on Mount Desert Island.

What a beautiful home! It was the perfect home base for our family to explore Bar Harbor and Acadia. My sons spent hours fishing from the dock and we sat outside every evening until the stars came out. It had everything we needed and more. Hope to go back soon!

Nice house. Wish there was a view of the lake. We couldn't use the kayaks. We are a little too old to carry them down ro the water. (70's).

This property was perfect. Quiet, secluded, water access, super clean, updated, and perfect for a family. It’s an easy drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia. The views from the water in the kayaks were wonderful. We are already planning our next visit!

This house is in a beautiful location on Long Pond and has a great deck and hot tub and dock (and a canoe and two kayaks). The house is very comfortable with everything you can possibly need. It's clean and very bright and pleasant to be in. Really, very much as advertised, and my kids and I had a great time. It's ten minutes or so to Southwest Harbor, twenty or so to Bar Harbor and not much more to many amazing sites in Acadia.
The only thing I'd add that the listing doesn't point out (and that no other reviewers say, unless I missed it) is that the house is situated right next door to another house. The house itself is still quite private but the dock, which looks private in the photos, sits very close to another, larger dock with a large motorboat and a water trampoline. It's a great house next door (and it was even empty when I stayed there) but it is worth noting that you are not in a fully "secluded" spot. Still, this is a great site and a great house and still five stars.

My family enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The location was a great jumping off point for all the hikes we wanted to do, but quiet and secluded enough to relax at the end of an adventure filled day. The kids really enjoyed the bunk beds and everyone had enough space. We would like to return soon!
