The breakfast choices were decent however no option for alternative milk
The rooms felt dated, parts of the decor were damaged / water damaged (in the bathroom), some mould on the shower cubicle, some carpets damaged around the property

Beautiful hotel in its own grounds in lovely peaceful setting. The breakfast had a good variety as did the dinner menu. Nice friendly staff.

It was a shock coming upon this "castle". Really a beautiful facility. Staff was quite accommodating.
More of a hike than expected from the train station. Thank goodness it was a nice day.

Convenient location for sightseeing around Inverness. Old world charm. Good sized room and bathroom.
Room was a little stuffy. The weather was warm but the window didn’t open very far.

location
Despite empty restaurants, we were unable to book reasonable times for dinner. Bizarre responses from staff. Very bad language used by bar staff in the evenings. Very old, decor and furniture in rooms - broken cupboards, torn chairs, broken toilet seat that took several attempts to get fixed. Only seems to cater for coach parties with one night turn around

the view from the front.
we were very disappointed to be in a dingy, ancient-looking room that smelled funny and had the noisiest extractor fan in the bathroom. this was the last night of our honeymoon and we had wanted it to be special - the photos of the hotel looked beautiful and we had been excited to stay there. the bathroom shower leaked and everything in the room felt old and tired.
at dinner, the food was overpriced and overcooked. the waitress forgot our wine and service was extremely slow - we sat for over 15 mins with our empty plates in front of us, and the restaurant was not very busy.
breakfast was average - poor. the eggs and sausages looked and tasted as though they had been cooked days in advance and reheated.
very disappointing end to what was otherwise an amazing honeymoon :(

It was easy for us to travel to other locations
Staff were courteous and pleasant.
The room was spacious and comfortable
The facilities did not match the price point of the stay eg there were no robes, slippers, face towels, hand cream and no glasses in the bathroom. The breakfast cereals were poor. The bathroom washbasin had a huge crack in it, the shower frame had black mould, there was grouting missing from the floor tiles, the plinth on the bath needed a good scrub and we weren't sure if the towels were old or were meant to be off white. The 'replacement' plug in the washbasin broke on the second day. The mugs in the room weren't washed properly and under the dressing table hadn't been hoovered.
At the bar we asked for a mojito and were given rum and creme de menthe. This was replaced by something more like a mojito but was still not right. Not sure why a bar would offer a cocktail menu but not train the staff how to make them. Disappointing for the customer but not great for the staff either. I noticed this same complaint from a previous reviewer...it clearly has not been dealt with. ( We went to a garden centre today in the area that had mojito on the menu with all the correct ingredients!!)
We were unable to get a table for dinner before 8.30 (too late for us) yet the hotel didn't seem busy.
If the hotel had cost £60/£70 less per night it would probably have been just ok.
I gave these comments on the hotel feedback form as well

Breakfast was very good, staff very polite and efficient. Dinner also very good.
There was no bath mat in the overbath shower. As my wife and I are elderly this was in my opinion unsafe and dangerous. The hotel is in need of some tlc and could be classed as a little bit shabby in places.

Lovely room. Very comfortable. Great.location
Dinner menu didn't change the whole week we were there. Would have liked an area to sit with sofas rather than the bar

The hotel is often used by myself and colleagues as it is always clean tidy with great staff, Also ideal location for our site visits in the highlands. Value for money was excellent .Room 216 was ok a bit smaller than normal but was sufficient .Shower was the best in any hotel i have stayed , very powerful and well controlled for temperature .
The hotel is often used by myself and colleague's , It is becoming apparent that some major refurbishment will be required soon, as the rooms are tired and in need of some TLC. Bathroom floor tiles in my room 216 were lifting and i had concerns over catching my feet on tiles edges , particularly around the Toilet seat area. Bedroom walls in the daylight were scuffed and in need of re-decoration . I am being really pernickety as I love this hotel and also appreciate the time of the year and hope a pre peak season tidy up will be planned . Also think the food in the conservatory was excellent but slightly over priced.

Room was comfortable, breakfast was good and there was a good choice of dinner menu
Nothing, everything was perfect

Breakfast was fantastic with excellent choice on the menu for hot items.
The bedroom had a lovely view of the large garden and the Executive room was more of a suite with an armchair seating area, as well as a large bathroom with superb, thermostatic rainfall shower facility....as well as a bath.
Being only 20 minutes easy drive from Inverness airport was a great benefit.
Helpful, friendly and attentive staff provided the "icing on a very tasteful cake".
There was nothing that resulted in anything that would detract from a superb venue, and made for a fantastic 5 day break of exceptional value.

Single Bed for a large man a bit tight and duvet was too small. Only complaint.

We liked everything and the staff overall. Personally Stevie, one of the waiters, was exceptionally kind to me. I have tummy problems and cannot eat large main meals and as I hate food waste tended to only have the starters for the main meal. He spoke with the chefs about my dilemma who asked him to let me know that all mains could be cut down thus avoiding me having to leave large amounts of food. By the way the food at breakfast and dinner was well cooked and presented with plenty of variety.
This may sound trivial but flushing the toilet was sometimes difficult due to the “plug” not connecting properly. We meant to mention it when we booked out but forgot. That was the only thing. Everything else was fine.
