A beautiful hotel ideally positioned in the centre storico overlooking the harbour. Spotlessly clean, friendly and professional service and good breakfast.

The location and the cave setting were really special.

We arrived very late and the plunge pool was noisy throughout the night. We were able to turn it off the next day but it affected sleep and should have been pre-empted beforehand.

What an amazing experience! The opportunity to stay in a cave dwelling in the world heritage listed town of Matera. The room was beautifully appointed but still maintained the character of the setting. We stayed in a junior suite which opened directly onto the pathway with magnificent views of the ravine The dining room was also in a cave. We enjoyed a lovely meal in the evening and the next morning our table was set with a feast of pastries, cakes and finger sandwiches. There was also the option to order a cooked breakfast. The staff were very friendly and assisted us carry our luggage up the many stairs to the piazza where we met our taxi.

Very good location, right in the old part of Matera. Nice ambient, cool rooms, very comfy beds, high-quality beauty products in the bathroom, very beautiful restaurant, staff very helpful and friendly

The hotel cannot be accessed by car. Even when you use the parking & shuttle option recommend by the hotel, the shuttle only arrives at Piazza Duomo, from where you need to carry your luggage for about 6mins and down relatively steep and uneven stairs. The hotel is essentially in a cave, which is very cool, but be ready you won’t get much light in the room. Our room didn’t have bathroom door (only a screen), so it might get slightly uncomfortable. Breakfast a bit confusing, each table gets a pre-arranged selection of sweets - it would be more convenient to have a one common buffet.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING EXPERIENCE. We totally recommend staying 1-2 nights in Matera, and Palazzo del Duca was wonderful as a hotel. The location and view is spectacular. The staff super friendly, and helpful for tours and such. The breakfast was not the best ever, but still very good.

The only thing we would change is the bathroom, because the toilet is not very private, just behind a small curtain.

The location is incredible and the breakfast was amazing.

Loved the size of the room and all its amenities. The lighting on the wall behind the bed was a very nice touch. The breakfast was awesome. Their restaurant was excellent. especially the service and the food. The view from the deck outside the room was spectacular. Best of all, the staff was exceptionally pleasant and most helpful.

There was nothing to dislike.

Antonio is a great host, with attention to detail. He went out of his way to make our stay perfect. Always available and made recommendations and make our stay a memorable one. The property is close to many charming hill towns and a short drive of 30 mins to reach some nice sandy beaches.

Location and views were amazing. Staff were very helpful. Room was excellent - good size and we loved that it was a cave.

Breakfast was really good, but they put out so much food on each table you couldn't possibly eat it all and it was all quite samey (cakes/pastries). You could order eggs separately though.

Everything was excellent especially the breakfast. Any time again.
