Overall this is a comfortable home that is a wonderful location within easy walking distance to MacKerricher SP. It is comfortable, cozy with enough room for a couple, two dogs and a couple of children. It is too small for 4 adults. It is a dated property that needs some small updates. A little TLC would go a long way with this sweet spot. There is one shower that could use some caulking and perhaps a new shower head. There are lots of thumbtacks in the walls and several areas that pictures had been hung but the hangers were still in place. There are no wine glasses nor is there a kettle for boiling water other than drip coffee pots. For tea drinkers, that is a no no. One TV in the second bedroom worked but not the living room or master. That said, the appliances are up to date, there are plenty of dishes and glasses to use and lots of decorations. We did not use the gas grill because it had seen better days. We did not sit on the nice back porch because of what looked like old restaurant appliances in the way. The front porch is welcoming other than the plants that needed some care. We did not use the outdoor fire pit because of the branches over hanging it making it a dangerous fire issue. All of that said, I would definitely rent this space again because of its location and comforts like the beds and sofas plus it is pet friendly.

4 of us 75 +, good friends, hikers, pickleball players, disc golf players. Loved the nearby ocean park. Good food, fun farmer's market in Ft. Bragg. House was exactly what we needed. Great Location.
4.7
The home worked nicely for our quick trip to Fort Bragg. About a 10 minute walk to the beach but I liked the location and it was pet friendly. The owner was very accommodating and home was clean and comfortable. Would book again.
4.7
We struggled with the rating, because we both loved this place and were disappointed with the place. If possible, we would have given it a 4.5 stars rating.
Things we loved:
1. Location. This home is just a few steps away from the state park, the beach, and miles of dog friendly trails.
2. House set up. The home is cute and feels roomy. It was clean. The front porch just calls your name to sit and relax. Backyard is unfenced, but has plenty of room to walk your pet. Quiet at night, and the one bed we used was very comfortable.
3. Just a short drive from Fort Bragg!
Disappointments:
1. No coffee filters. The kitchen has 2 coffee makers, and ground coffee, but no filters! Not something you want to find out about at 7am. Fortunately the camp store was just around the corner, was open, and had filters for sale.
2. No hair dryer!! Yipes, you must have a hair dryer for your guests! This is a big issue for those of us who need one.
3. No wine glasses. Even if the owner does not drink wine, you must have a couple of wine glasses available. 2 liqueur glasses do not cut it.
We would stay here again, for the location was perfect. If you are reading this review, just make sure you bring any supplies/appliances you must have, for there is no guarantee they will be here.

Enjoyed a quiet peaceful time, and enjoyed the very comfortable and well equipped house. Family members were camping next door at MacKerriker State Park. I enjoyed meals around the campfire with the family, but was able to return to this quiet retreat for a comfortable night's sleep and a warm shower.
4.7
We have been camping at MacKerricher Park for over 50 years but I recently has surgery so opted to stay at the cottage. It was like being in the park without all the set up and tear down of camping. We enjoyed the back yard a lot and Bob was helpful.
4.7
Nice lay out of the house and property. Close to the beach and Fort Bragg downtown. Very quiet.
4.7
The cottage was cozy. We had a nice stay and the calla lilies are gorgeous in the back yard. A couple things that could improve the stay would be a new mattress in the spare bedroom, a refrigerator that stays closed or replace the seal on door, clean the mold and caulk above the shower wall. Those are small things. It was a nice relaxing stay. Also the grandkids loved the fire pit for roasting hotdogs and making smore's!
4.7
Very cute and comfortable. Especially lived the front porch, nice and quiet and great for birdwatching in the backyard.

The location of this cottage was perfect for our family of 4 and our dog. The boys enjoyed the tv in their room, running around the yard and the dunes behind the house, and they had rave reviews about the comfort of the couches. Be aware that the yard is not fenced. Not a problem for our dog who wants to right near his people at all times. The kitchen lacked good knives for food prepping (only one butcher knife that was well beyond its years and a bread knife that broke out of the handle while I was trying to use it) so bring your own if you plan to cook while there.
The location is amazing… right outside of MacKerricher State Park. Bonus, the park isn’t charging for day use right now so we could drive in with our beach gear at no extra charge.
The property listening stated washing machine on site and I emailed the owner for clarification with no response. There is NO ACCESS to the washer/dryer. We look for this amenity while traveling with children so I was disappointed to see it wasn’t an option… a little misleading. The tv in the master isn’t working either (not a priority for me but an FYI).
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and felt comfortable in the home. It accommodated our family of 4 well. Thank you!
4.7
Only good thing to say about this place is the location so close to the beach. I really wanted to like this place especially when it broke down to 404 per night. The entire time I was there the owner ignored any messages I sent to him. Which is a huge issue. We wanted to use the fire pit but it hadn't been dug out and there was no shovel around to do it myself. The ceiling fan and light didn't work at all in the 2nd bedroom manually or by the remote. The ceiling fan and light in the master bedroom worked but only manually not by the remote. The tv in the master bedroom didn't work. The lamp on the table in the living room didn't work. The shower had almost no pressure and half the water came out the tub spout instead of the shower head. The hooks on the back of the bathroom door and master bedroom door are falling out of the doors to where I was nervous to use them in fear of damaging them. When we first arrived after walking around in my socks for 10 minutes they were all black. I really hope they invest in some care and TLC for this property and pay for a proper house cleaner who actually does their job. Considering all the issues this location had that aren't even listed they shouldn't be charging so much for a stay here. It has some serious potential but only if the owner is willing to invest in their property

Sandy Clove Cottage was so much more than just a vacation place!!! Above all the things to do in town, as well as the games and books to read at the cottage, it was truly a place to be able to slow down, breathe, relax, remember what's important in life. We have been vacationing in Fort Bragg for over 10 years. This is the 1st time we have 100% enjoyed staying in Fort Bragg. All because of Sandy Clove Cottage. We loved sitting on the front and back porches. So relaxing and beautiful to watch the wildlife. In the early morning and later in the evening you can hear the ocean. We enjoy going to the Train Museum and Glass Beach. We are "Beach bums" so we spend alot of time on the beach. So many things to do in Fort Bragg. Something for everyone. Back to Sandy Clove Cottage...can't wait to stay again.
This was our 1st time of not staying in a hotel when we have come to Fort Bragg. We hope we left everything clean enough.
Again, can't wait to go back. We have already recommended Sandy Clove Cottage to several people.

Quiet, relaxing comfortable. We felt close to Ft Bragg enjoyed good restaurants. Area is beautiful. April is perfect time to visit the area.
4.7
The house was adorable. We enjoyed every minute. Close to town, close to walking trails.
4.7
Clean, well-appointed, and super close to the beach. Family and dog friendly. Thanks for the great weekend!
4.7
4 of us stayed at the cottage for a weekend and had a great time. The home was perfect for everything we needed, plus you cannot beat the location! You really are a 5 minute walk to the beach. I stayed in the queen size room and that bed was very comfortable and our friends in the larger room said the same. We will definitely try and stay here again.
4.7
This little cottage had almost everything we needed for a comfortable stay. House was clean and had plenty of storage. Great peaceful location. Only things missing for a perfect stay are the following: Listing states washer and dryer in amenities but they are not available to guests. Functional blinds, many of the blinds are broken. A decent coffee maker, the coffee maker takes a very long time to brew. Less furniture, some of the furniture does not fit I would say they could get a smaller entry buffet and install a floating shelf in the large bedroom on the right side of the bed.
4.7
The house is in an amazing location. Right next to the state park and a short walk from the beach. The listing had washer and dryer as amenities but we were notified three days prior to our visit that they weren’t available. This was disappointing because the washer and dryer was a factor when we booked the property.
4.7
This home was extremely comfortable and homey feeling. It was perfectly located near the beach and walking trails. We cooked all our meals at the house and found all the utensils and dishware we needed. We'll definitely be staying again!
4.7
Thank you for sharing your home. We had a beautiful stay. The beds were comfy, and we enjoyed a quiet day in the living room with a warm fire on a rainy day during our visit.
4.7
This cottage is located right next to a state park with great walking trails.
4.7
We enjoyed our stay. Nice house very clean. A minor inconvenience due to delay in bathroom repairs we where asked to give 6 hrs of our stay for owner to complete repairs. The owner was great in communicating with us. This is a good rental and we will probably stay here again.
4.7
A spacious house with superb amenities and incredibly comfortable beds. We loved our stay here and cycled everywhere as there is a brilliant coastal path. Ten mile beach was amazing and the whole trip was very relaxing.
4.7
The house is well equipped and very conveniently positioned for coastal access.
4.7
We all absolutely loved this cottage. It had everything we needed. Decorated so lovely, love the beach theme.
The backyard was so pretty and we even picked some blackberries.
We will definitely be back.
4.7
We arrived to a cute and clean cottage and were so happy to escape the stifling heat that most of California was experiencing. Everyone was hungry upon arrival so the first thing we did was make dinner. We were pleased that the kitchen was fully stocked.
The best thing about our stay was the walk from the backyard to the beach. We live in a popular coastal town in Southern California ourselves and were in awe of how "unbusy" the beach was. We really felt like we had the beach to ourselves. These will be our priceless moments.
With 2 college aged boys and a teenage girl, we all greatly enjoyed our time here, not as easy feat to please all of us. We would love to stay here again in the upcoming summers.
4.7
Perfect house to stay with the family to relax. The backyard was wonderful too, with firepit and bbq and very close to drive into the town of Fort Bragg for restaurants or shopping. We went to the Sea Pal Cove down at the Harbor .It was fun to sit out on the restaurant's outside dining watching the fishing boats come while we enjoyed lunch. Hope to get back soon!
4.7
Great place to stay:
Excellent location, Walking distance to the beach, close to Fort Bragg.
We will definitely be back again.
4.7
We enjoyed our stay very much. Cottage met our needs perfectly. Close to the beach and not to far from town. Would love to stay again.
4.7
The cottage is well equipped and the decor is perfect for the location. Nicely situated near the state park with quick access to the beach.
The owner is very accomodating and easily accessible. A great little getaway!
4.7
Great location on quiet street near park, short of 1/2 mi. to beaches.
There were a few tiny fix-it issues but nothing to interrupt your stay. Do recommend bug spray as mosquitos in eve.
MacKerricher Parks has lots to offer artists, birders, fishermen, kayakers, hikers, and bike riders with a fresh water lagoon, paths along the beach, on a boardwalk to seal rocks and through coastal meadows to 10 mi. of protected dunes that are Plover habitat. Found great restaurants in Fort Bragg equal or better to those in Mendocino.
Communication with owner was hit and miss but caused no problems to detract from the vacation. We had asked for 2 keys but were only left one. We could not make bedroom TV work and asked for directions once there, but were never given them. There were 2 other TVs so it caused no hardship. The restaurant he gives in directions is no longer there so recommend: As you head north from Fort Brag take the left turn right after the entrance to MacKerricher State Park.
The backyard does not have an enclosed fence and our dog kept wanting to take off out the back so we were glad we had brought a large pen that worked easily at the bottom of the back deck ramp over the paved driveway.
Overall, we highly recommend this vacation spot!
4.7
Great time-super comfortable and inviting. Excellent location 1/2 mile from beach.
Had a wonderful time-would definitely go back
4.7
Wonderful cottage right next to the State Park and the beach. Close to bike riding, hiking and kayaking. We have stayed here twice now and loved this sweet house.
4.7
Wonderful, my 5th time staying there. Will be back for more memories
4.7
This is the perfect location & area for our "Sister" retreat and we will return; however, a few things could use an update.
1. Main bedroom smoke alarm - no battery
2. Main bedroom bed frame is broken, mattress on floor at one corner & poorly put back together with screws & brackets.
3. Second bathroom cabinet door broken.
4. Blinds on slider need replacement, no privacy
5. A railing on the step up area near the front door would be
much safer. Our 88 year old father tripped & fell.
4.7
We had a wonderful 3-night stay. The cottage was clean and had every amenity needed for comfort and relaxation. We walked to the beach from the cottage, we rode bikes on the coastal trail down to Ft. Bragg and back, and we rode horses on the beach from the Ricochet Ridge Ranch, across the Highway from the cottage. We will definitely be back!!
4.7
We loved the house, it was perfect for our family vacation to the coast. The house was comfortable and well stocked with everything we needed. The covered porches in front and back were great. Access to the beach is a short walk out the back door through the state park. We would rent here again.
4.7
Nice and relaxing. Home has everything you need. Highly recommend!
4.7
This is our 3rd visit to this property and we just love it here. Great location, short drive into town, walking distance to the beach. Very comfortable cottage. We will be back!
4.7
We were looking for a place close to the beach that allowed dogs…to celebrate my daughter’s 27th bday. We had a great weekend!
