I would give the hotel 5 stars except for some small things. I.e. no tissues in the room, so had to use toilet paper. 1 small bottle of water. As I said small things but annoying.

Location was perfect, easy walking distance to all amenities. Breakfast was served in your room and was beautiful, my only complaint about it was that I ate too much!! Our room had a superb view of the central square and fountain and our en-suite gave us a delightful view of side streets as well. Beautiful building with a lot of history to it. Staff were extremely professional and friendly. Gave us a great briefing of our surroundings which added greatly too. Absolutely would recommend this hotel and we will be back.

The staff were amazing. Upon arrival we were greeted with a smile and armed with tons of information on things to do in the area i.e., tours, restaurants etc. The rooms were comfortable and clean and breakfast was really good. I highly recommend this property.

I wish the bar had a full menu with a variety of food options, otherwise this property is ideal in Cognac.

We ordered a special cake for my husband's birthday. It wasn't very nice and tasted only ok.

Great location for a stay in Cognac.

This is a really comfortable hotel made all the better by super staff. Their focus is on ensuring the needs of guests are fully met and they succeed admirably. This hotel is one of my favourites when travelling in France. No hesitation in recommending it to other travellers.

The location is very central and there are many restaurants within a short walk. Easy access to old town and the distilleries.

The hotel obviously was once the premier place to stay and now it is a little tired. The decor is circa 1990s dark red and brown and whilst the rooms were spotless ours was very Travelodge. The hotel boasts a spa but it really shouldn’t - it’s a small room with a small pool set at 20° so too small to swim and too cold to sit and relax in. There is a steam room but again very small and we had to ask for it to be turned on. Likewise we had to ask for towels and for robes. There is no changing room. We had a nice massage but again the room for the massages is very small and no particularly special. The staff were pleasant but not particularly welcoming. We weren’t told any information on arrival - like hotel wifi, how to access the spa or whether the hotel had a restaurant. They did tell us that they would provide breakfast at €19 EACH! Please don’t bother just walk to the covered market where you can get the most delicious fresh produce, pastries and coffee at a fraction of the cost. Parking costs were over the odds considering the abundance of free parking nearby as were the costs for taking a dog with us. Overall this hotel was overpriced and not at all value for money.

It needs complete refurbishment. From the carpet in the rooms to the dark corridors.
