Right on the lake shore, gorgeous views, easy walk from ferry but peaceful, traditional architecture and textiles, shower water was hot and Wi-Fi reached our room.
Bathrooms could use updating and the pressure for the hot water in the shower was low.

Santa Cruz definitely has the best views in Lake Atitlán. The grounds are well kept and landscaped. Bungalows are decent.
Staff really took away from this place. We booked a bungalow with a hammock. Upon arrival they said the hammock was broken (not a big problem), so we asked for another chair so we could still enjoy our patio and watch the sunset; they said they’d get one but never did. We had breakfast there the next morning and ordered off the menu which had a clearly listed price; when trying to pay they didn’t honor the menu price but rather became angry and increased it trying to get more money; they then had the audacity to demand a tip after doing so. Let me be clear, it’s not about the money, they would have more than made up the difference in tip, it’s just unacceptable how rude and dishonest they were. If you delve into some of the other reviews on here or Google you’ll come across similar stories and experiences. Dinner there was mediocre and overpriced; if you go directly across the street it’s half the price with better food.
The property itself is located right next to the main dock in Santa Cruz. This will cause some disturbance with all the comings and goings and take away from the peace of this location. There are trails going in both directions leading to some very cool hotels which you can easily walk to, even with bags/backpacks. Each hotel also has their own dock, so any water taxi can take you there; it’s very simple. I’d look into these other places if I were you as there are better options. The water is also much cleaner going east if you plan on swimming, which is definitely worthwhile.

great view
good restaurant, amazing cook
not the best lady at the reception, could have been more kind, no card accepted when we were there
late check out costs extra, hot water for tea costs extra…

What a lovely little lakeside hotel! Perfect rooms/cabins and most of them facing the lake with a small patio and chairs. The restaurant was ideal for breakfast and dinner. So much nicer than staying in the larger, louder towns around Atitaln.

We ate breakfast and dinner at the hotel each day because the food was very good and the the outdoor seating was pleasant. Our room (an individual Cabin - B2) was spacious and had a spectacular view. We left the windows open each night and slept so well.
Dogs routinely came up onto the patio area where guests eat. They sat and begged at tables. It wouldn’t be too difficult to install a low picket fence with a couple gates to at least discourage the easy entry of dogs.

The location on the lake is superb, wonderful views. Staff very helpful. The restaurant was good! Close to the ferry dock. The property is very peaceful and nicely landscaped.
Room was very basic, No television or Wifi.

No breakfast.
This is a cash only hotel. The town of Santa Cruz only has one ATM machine that is located at the top of the hill. If you show up without cash, you could be stuck if you don't have ATM access.
Also be prepared to speak Spanish. When I arrived no one at the hotel spoke English. That was ok but I watched people at the counter struggling with communication.

The room was clean and comfortable with incredible view of the lake, and very nice seating outside.
To get to the hotel you need to take a shuttle boat which is more expensive for tourists.

absolutely perfect ! amazing view, staff and room ! one of the best moment in Guatemala

Excellent location with beautiful views, and super friendly and helpful staff. I'd also like to point out that this place is owned by a local, in contrast to the vast majority of other hotels (and airbnbs) around the lake that are owned by wealthy foreigners, who often pay their indigenous workers very low wages (I befriended one such worker so she told me this - she and her colleagues were paid $10/day by a foreigner who made thousands a month). I think it's really important to support locals and discourage wealthy foreigners from buying up all the indigenous land, so supporting local-owned businesses is a good way to do that in my opinion.
The staff is also super kind and helpful with anything you need. I had a big spider in my room one night (which can happen anywhere on the lake, because youre very close to nature - not the property's fault), and someone from the staff took care of it for me and then took their time to search everywhere inside and right outside my room to make sure I wont have any unpleasant surprises.
The food is excellent and very reasonably priced for what it is. It's really convenient to have a restaurant as part of your hotel, especially in a town like this where it's hard to find dinner without a reservation.
Showers are hot as well which is great. All in all, I highly recommend staying here!
No wifi in the rooms (theres only wifi in the restaurant), but thats not an issue if you bring a book or something for entertainment when you aren't out and about

View
But There are a lot more peaceful places with better view around
If you are looking for a peaceful location, dont go here. A lot of noise from the tuc tuc’s and boats of the nearby pier. Music from the boats and from the hotel.
We wanted to cancel the second night during the morning for which we had to pay half of the price after a difficult discussion. Staff not so flexible.

The view and location are exceptional. Very close to the public boat to go around the lake
The bad experience was while doing the check in. Our way to get to the hotel was delayed because of the heavy rains. I asked the hotel if the can help to get us a boat to get to the hotel and that was arranged with a cost of 200 quetzales. We agreed and payed the boat as soon as we hop off. In the hotel they wanted to charge us that 200 quetzales again wich I don't mind because that is just a misunderstanding and I didn't want to make a fuzz out of that. Now the things starts to turn bad. The lady at the reception wanted to charge us 1,400 quetzales because of their taxes (22%)additional of what I payed. Anyways 22% plus the price from booking is not 1,400 quetzales. I requested to pay in USD since we didn't have that amount of money and the lady said it was $180 usd. I refused to pay that and then she agreen to charge the amount diaclosed in booking. We felt that she was trying to scam us and did not felt like it was a good idea to eat at their restaurant because we did not wanted to have that kind of experience again. I really recommend to make the reservation thru air bnb and pay everything online just in case because that was very weird

Beautiful location. Right upon the lake, with nature all around. The stuff was amazingly nice.

Peaceful location with amazing sunset views and excellent restaurant, convenient location for exploring other villages.

Staff was great, we arrived late and they kept the restaurant open for us to be able to have some dinner. Additionally, they held our bags while we went on a hike. Everyone was very nice and the location was conveniently right next to the ferry and trailhead.
The mattress was a bit uncomfortable - otherwise no complaints

The location was good, right by the dock! The village was a bit up the hill but not too far away :) The hotel is very cute, full of plants and with an amazing view! At night there is a campfire sometimes :) Room was clean and comfortable, staff is very nice! The food is good, not great.
The only problem we had was that it is also a restaurant and the toilets are shared among the rooms and the people in the restaurant and are right next to where people are sitting. So is the shower. A bit uncomfortable at times.

Lovely staff, very friendly.
Facilities need a major update.

The view from the porch is absolutely beautiful
The room needs to be updated and have screens on the windows would make a huge difference. this place had a ton of spiders and bugs. The room doesn't have any central air and it got kinda warm in the room and we couldn't open our windows to let in cool air.

The hotel has fantastic views and is secluded enough for peace and quiet but a quick lancha ride to Panajachel, which is convenient.
The beds and bedding were a little worn.
1.0
The location and the garden
Aside from the above we didn’t like anything. We rented two rooms and the receptionist demanded cash payment before entering the hotel and did not accept credit card.
The two rooms were at the end of the property where we had to carry our bags up and down many stairs in the garden for a long walk.
The rooms were run down and pathetic, there were spaces between the main doors and the frame also between the frame and the wall where insects go in and out freely. The rooms were small and disorganized. There was a portable light open
closet that fell down when I hang a shirt on it. The lights were dim and the rooms were infested with ants, flies and mosquitoes.
The bathroom was horrible. The sink only the cold water tap working and the other one was glued and doesn’t turn and the shower had only the hot water faucet working and the other one was unconnected. The toilet was broken and glued.
There were spiderwebs on the top of the doors.
There was obvious mold on multiple areas
The manger was very rude and money greedy and some workers as well.
You need to take a ferry to reach this hotel and that’s a significant extra expense.
6.0
Not many food options. Limited options on everything. No acceptance of credit card. Not good details on rooms, construction wise. Windows would not close completely, no mosquito protection in windows. The schedule of restaurant was very short.
