The YHA in Alice Springs is perfectly located and a charming place to stay that ouzes character.
I'm 50 years old and stayed there with my wife. It was spotlessly clean and absolutely ideal for a few nights before heading over to Ayers Rock.
The staff were amazing

Clearly room had not been cleaned properly or in a long time as there was dust all over the fan and in corners. The blinds felt dirty. There was another person's hair on my bed when I arrived (I was the first person in the room so was not another guest) I had a late check in which I did appreciate the clear instructions how to get in, however there was no instructions on where to find sheets for the bed. Luckily I was able to find them on my own.

Excellent value for money, great security, friendly staff and clean well kept facilities ie: laundry and toilets/showers cleaned daily! Kitchen at times was untidy however this was due to patrons not the staff, room was comfortable, clean and in great condition. Overall very impressed with the complex

Pleasantly surprised as it’s been a long time since I’ve stayed in a YHA.
Facilities where fine a few more pointers as to what to do would have been helpful. However, the staff were very helpful when asked.

I liked the convenience of the property and it's closeness to the city and shopping, the guests that were there were also lovely and friendly. The negative side to the property was you were having to deal heavily with the locals and criminal behaviour going on in the area.

Everything was great, really awesome place to stay. However some of the longer guests caused a lot of mess and made navigating the room difficult

The hostel was well-equipped. I was disappointed by the very weak a/c in the 4 bed dorm (much better in the larger dorm)

Music was excessively loud in afternoon and also went on late into evening and this could be heard loudly in the bedrooms. Asked guest myself to turn down which happened for short period before returning to excessive level - staff did not seem bothered by music/were not present. As many people staying here seem to be on tours departing early it would have been useful if reception area had been open as we had to leave suitcases the night before (8pm) in locked storage.

The Alice Springs hostel was comfortable and friendly. It was an easy place to stay in. The kitchen is roomy and clean, and the outside movies are a bonus!

Met lots of cool people and it's great that there is a common room that has a lot of space to hangout. Staff could be a little better trained but it was also a staff in training when I arrived. No dramas, happy carefree environment, everyone helps out! There was broken glass in the first room I stayed in however the second was spotless and besides the glass the first one was clean as well.

I stayed at this YHA before and after my outback trip. I was able to leave my luggage with them which was great.
The room has lockers and a card key to get in so it is pretty secure.
kitchen was very clean and well equipped.
I would recommend staying at this hostel while in Alice Springs.

Comfortable for one or two nights in the centre of Alice springs. The tour pick up locations are very close and so are shopping areas.

The biggest problem is the light in the bathroom. When I washed in the shower booth, the light was turn off automatically(but it's too short time.. maybe about 10 minutes or less than 10 minutes?). There was really dark and it was scaring.
And whenever I opened the door of dorm, other people were waken by the noise from the door(because it's too old).
Also there were so many ants in the kitchen and dishes were very unclean.
But young guy Staff was really friendly and kind and the location is quite nice.

My two night stay was even better than I remembered from my visit from years ago.....the room was perfect, air con keeping it cool; uncluttered, clean and tidy......the kitchen is well equipped and it was easy to cook and enjoy meals indoors or out. The toilets and shower area is also very clean, and having laundry facilities is a bonus after long travel days.
The front desk staff went above and beyond to answer questions about sights in the area, and direct us to local entertainment, as well as arrange the airport transfer. I would recommend this YHA to other couples as the double rooms are quiet and perfect in every way....this from an older, experienced traveller.
