Clean and friendly staff

On the main road in Kyoto, but back enough from the street that sleeping it was plenty quiet. Room was small but functional, bathroom could have been cleaner. Location is killer though and there wasn't anything overly bad. Solid stay if you want a simple place to crash after long days walking around

Was close to everything I wanted to see on this trip. Only a few minutes by bus (which was right outside the hotel) to the Gion district and only 30mins to some of the more out there attractions. Plus, a very spacious bathroom!

It is located on Shijo Street, a 2-minute walk to the main shopping area. Very convenient.

I booked 3 non-smoking rooms. They gave us 3 rooms that smelled like cigarettes. When confronting the staff and asking to change rooms they changed one room for us on a different floor. On the other floor it was okay no smoke smell, but they only changed one room for us. The next night we asked if they were able to change the other 2 rooms and they admitted the floor was converted from smoking to non-smoking recently which is why it still smelled like smoke. Definitely would not recommend if you want non-smoking rooms, they weren't able to properly accommodate our booking even though it was booked in advance. Other than that its pretty much the same as other similar priced hotels but that was definitely a bad experience. We didn't have this issue at any other hotel we stayed at in Japan.

Great staff and room.

Lovely room and very nice bathroom. However my stay was impacted by several issues. First the safe in my room was not working and it took some time to fix. But worse was the fact that the advertised laundry facilities were not available, with only one machine working very slowly and staff advising me to go to an outside laundry 5 minutes walk away. I asked if the problem would be fixed as we were there 3 days but it seems it wasn't a priority for this hotel to give customers what they paid for. I think this problem should have been explained at check in before taking payment. Also one of the lifts broke down..but that at least was fixed fairly quickly. Would probably not stay here again because of these issues.

Very good location and proximity to public transport, shopping areas and Restaurants in Kyoto. All relevant buses & trains stop nearby Very clean and comfortable room. We had two large suitcases, but we somehow managed it although the room was not that large.

Cost performance is good.

Very convenient to for transportation, shopping and eating. The room was very clean if small. The staff were helpful.

We stayed here for a couple of nights. After stay at a few hotels within this price range, we found this place to be not as nice as other hotels, possibly because the other hotel brands were Japanese owned and the standards are different. The staff was ok, the lobby area is open and boring, the rooms and the bathrooms are not anything special, nonfunctional. Not a place I would book again.

We were first shown a very small room but could upgrade for a very modest price to an excellent room on the same floor. The staff were very good about the exchange and the room was terrific.

Place was good location, however our room was street side and it was very loud at night from the passing traffic. Other than that it was good, it’s an ibis so you know what your getting.

Absolutely loved my stay here. Highly recommend!

Good service manner, have washing clothes machine provide, ice maker machine help a lot cause very very hot during Summer time.

Great budget hotel. Shijo-Nishinotoin bus station right in front of the door makes it easy to reach popular locations often with a direct bus.

Very nice location, walkable from Shijo metro with luggage. The first floor interior is beautiful - there are stone gardens, plants, etc. Rooms are small but has everything. I've stayed there for a week and then extended my stay for another day. Cleaness in general is fine, but could be better (dust on some panels that are never cleaned etc). Bathroom cleaned properly. Also depends on the day and cleaning team I think, as some days were better than others.

Good location but rooms were fairly small but functional. We had requested for additional pillows for our group of 4 guests since only 1 pillow was provided for each guest. None provided and were told that they've run out of stock. Our two other hotels we stayed at during our trip to Japan always had 2 pillows per guest. Also, no weighing scale was available for us to check our luggage to comply with weight requirements for our flight - we were told that "the airport would surely have weighing scales available!" Don't plan to go back to this and probably similar Ibis hotels if this is how they run their operations.

This was a clean hotel and had the nice security feature that your room card automatically pressed the button for your floor so that nobody could get onto a different floor. They provided toothbrushes that were made from wood to reduce the plastic in the world. The staff was very accommodating.
