Room was basic but good - everything worked well, but there was one slight problem - the bathroom 'pod' was quite noisy to use, i.e. the door operation was noisy, and also it was not possible to turn the bathroom light on without also lighting the main room. Hence when using the loo at night it inevitably also woke up my wife. Breakfast was included and was excellent.

This hotel was clean, safe & quiet. The bathroom felt small like the ones on cruise ships, but not terrible. Friendly staff, filtered water in the lobby & great location to the main action in Edinburgh

I’ve done a lot of traveling and have stayed in many hotels and this was by far the worst place I’ve stayed. First day the check in process was ridiculous. The girls at the front desk on 7/17 were awful. We were told we were too early for check in with an attitude and then she proceeded to very nicely check in everyone after us. The room was small which was fine but there was only one outlet plug for the entire room including bathroom which was very inconvenient. The mattress was basically a mattress pad on top of a box spring so it wasn’t the most comfortable. One of the days the towels were just rehung from the floor and on the first day one of the towels had pubic hairs on it. I cannot say much was cleaned each day.

I’ll say this first. The staff were quite good and friendly. The location is great. The room is super small. The bathroom is beyond small. The bed appears to be like a Futon. Overall it was a disappointment and could not recommend it.

The bathroom appeared clean but had a strong odour coming from the shower drain. Didn’t find out about the onsite bar we were leaving. For us, it was not the best value for our dollar but conveniently located.

Great location for being close to the popular tourist activities, great hotel staff, crummy room. No refrigerator or phone in the room. The room was small, had no visual appeal, minimal furniture, and looked into the central courtyard at a blank wall. We were on the 9th floor but the noise from the live band was annoying even with the window closed.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Very helpful in storing our luggage before we could check into our room and after our checkout while we did some last tours in the city. Beds were comfortable and was a vary good breakfast buffet. Our only conern was that the fire alarm went off at 6:00 AM, and after we left the building there didn't appear to be any firemen checking into the incident or staff checking to see that everyone was out. It took over 20 minutes for a staff member to come open the door and tell us we could go back in. In the meantime, no information was given to us as to what was going on. Thankfully it had stopped raining. When we were allowed to enter, we were only told there was no fire and they didn't know why the alarm was still going off intermitently. After we returned to our room, the alarm still went off several times.

Great central location and nice room. Added bedside plug or phone charge port would have been nice. South Bridge itself was a bit dirty and smelly but the convenient location was the main reason for booking and the hotel is a great budget choice. Would stay again.

We were going to the Edinburgh Tattoo and this hotel was within easy walking distance of the castle and very close to the royal mile,bed very comfortable and breakfast was very well presented and enjoyable we would certainly use this hotel again

The Ibis was the perfect choice for our visit to the city. It's centrally located to everything. The rooms are comfortable as are the beds. The hotel is simply decorated which is great. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms facing the back are quiet. Only downside is that the windows don't open but the airconditioning works great.

Bit basic but that was reflected in cost. Very clean. Very friendly helpful staff.

Perfect for a quick stay in Edinburgh!

The hotel was comfortable enough for one night, but the room was really small and it felt like they provided the bare mininum... not even a box of tissues in the bathroom. However, the location was perfect, the staff was friendly and the breakfast very decent, so not a bad experience overall.

We have used the hotel before and knew what to expect. Very helpful staff and a great location for attending the Fringe.

I was disappointed with the bedding, which was an egg crate padding on a futon. Not comfortable at all! Location is great, but poor quality beds.

The price-quality relationship was very poor since we paid more than $350 USD/night for an Ibis Hotel. The August festival made hotels really expensive in general, but there were several basic details missing: one day they forgot to leave the shower mat/towel; another day they forgot to leave toilet paper, no smaller towels available in the room, no contacts on night tables, no small fridge (room very basic in general), restaurant is small for breakfast service of that size of a hotel (no tables available some days), staff does not smile at all. Overall just ok; liked to location in Old Town, that’s it.

Great location on South Bridge, close to great restaurants, hop on hop of bus stop. Great breakfast. We were in an upgraded room with a great view.

Great breakfast, staff is very friendly, location is ok, size of the room is good, the only thing is I couldn’t open the window for fresh air and ac was extra dirty so I didn’t turn it on. Windows that open would be great thing to have in a room.

The photos definitely portray a much nicer room and we felt like we were in the inside of a Mobil home.The bathroom was so small and hard to do anything in. The way the shower was constructed made it inevitable that water was going to leak out. Housekeeping serviced the room when we requested that they didnt. There were a few other things that we brought to the attention of the hotel staff but will not leave comments on here.

The elevator looked outdated and the room service was too invasive as privacy is very important in a hotel
