In terms of property you get what you pay for. We wanted somewhere cheap to sleep whilst spending a few days in and around newcastle area. Location is great and walking distance to a few different pubs. Short drive into newcastle, or down to durham or over to seaham. Property itself is basic, some lights not working in most rooms in house. Cleanliness not great and could do with a general bit of a makeover. But again, it was the cheapest place in the area so didnt expect 5 star accomodatuon. Would recommend if you needed somewhere to sleep on a budget for a night or 2.

‘Must climb stairs’ was insufficient description for a property with no handrail on the stairs and highly polished, slippery treads. Also, both floors had other steps of varying heights and with no hazard markings to define the edges. I slipped and fell on the first night because of poor lighting, the lounge standard lamp having been placed in the kitchen, by the owner, because the main lights were not functioning. Despite these issues, Gemma has gone to some trouble to make the house attractive and welcoming. The engagement of a maintenance person would be advisable but the cottage is fine for the young and fit. Lovely, peaceful countryside setting.
