On Mountain Home, Spectacular Mountain Views, Ski to the Door

This was lovely for our yearly getaway with a few other couples. Shuttle access. The house was clean. It is a ski in ski out property. We will definitely be back :-)
Thanks again, Peter!

Great location right on the mountain, easy to ski down to the house, which was cozy and had everything you need. We had a memorable trip and will try to book this place again if it’s available!

This is a great ski house. It has breathtaking views and great light. It is beautifully appointed and has an excellent kitchen that is much better equipped than the usual rental. There is also a tuning bench in the utility room. We always bring our tuning gear but often there is not a warm , dry place to wax and sharpen our skis. The owners are clearly serious about skiing and have created a space to maintain gear.
This is a ski off location. you can ski from the mountain to the dooryard. On weekdays the best route to skiing is a short shuttle bus ride from the foot of the driveway, leaving every half hour. Maybe next spring lifts will be running every day to get to the resort, this year it was ski on on weekends only.
There is a wood stove and a freestanding gas fireplace. It's a big space with different places for small groups to form around fires or puzzles. The wifi works; there are multiple TV's. Warm, no drafts, plenty of hot water. Everything is about right for a ski vacation.

Two families with teenagers just enjoyed a relaxing ski vacation here. The house is very welcoming and cozy, with open common space we could hangout. Nicely stocked kitchen made us felt like home. The internet connection was pretty good with all of our devices going at the same time. Other set up in the house are also very convenient and homey. It gave us the feeling of a well-loved house with a lot of stories. Peter the owner was very responsive to our questions. The snow plow service was also responsive.
The location was not labeled as ski-in-and-out but we were pleasantly surprised it’s really convenient to get to the slope. First, there is shuttle service stop right in front of the house every half and hour to and from the base lodge. Second, we can hike a few minutes to the green trail right under the West Mountain Chair. Coming back there is a stretch of blue trail at the top but it is super fun coming down all the way on the long and wide slope. We all had a great time here.

We have been Sugarloafer's for 30+ years and have always stayed mid-mountain or off of Wiffletree. This was our first time staying at West Mountain and we were really pleasantly surprised at the location, convenience, and comfort. The house was wonderful and really sets up nicely for a family with adults and children who can be on a different level than the adult. The kids had their space and the adults had their own space. Getting to and from the mountain was easy and the entire home was really well stocked!! we would definitely book again.

We really enjoyed this particular location. It was private, quiet and close to the mountain. Loved the shuttle bus pick up and drop off! House had all of the necessary amenities, and more!
The skiing was amazing! We were gifted 32" of snow graced our arrival...driveway was plowed and all!
Hope to return again!

Great location. The photos of the views don’t do it justice. House was well stocked and very cozy. Proximity to all that Carrabassett has to offer is great! Only feedback I have is beds are not super comfy. Would stay again!

Very nice unit
I would recommend
this to anyone looking for three bedrooms. It also has a couple of significant sitting areas. Very well lit with natural light. Big Kitchen allows multiple people to cook at the same time.

Perfect place for our getaway, 6 adults
The space is perfect for a ski vacation. The mud room keeps gear contained, and the living areas are well laid out and comfortable. The pictures do not do it justice! Would def stay there again. Oh, and the ski shuttle literally stops at the end of the driveway.

Family ski trip
It's the perfect Sugarloaf ski house. As Peter says you can ski in off the West Mt trail and the shuttle pulls up in front of the house every 30 min to get you to the base. Or on weekends you can ski to the West Mt chair. We've always stayed around the base but we would definitely stay here again.

The perfect Maine Ski Getaway
The property is immaculate and great care and attention is paid to making sure everything you need or want is right at hand. Being so close to the main resort with a shuttle bus stop right at the driveway is a major plus as well. Loved the wood burning stove and the grill worked great as well. Coulnd't really ask for a better place to stay in Sugarloaf.

Gem with great history
My family has been coming to Sugarloaf for decades, so the wonderful photos and history of this spot were a delightful bonus to the magnificent views and perfect accommodations. I agree with previous reviews that the photos don't tell the whole story. The home is spacious while maintaining its rustic mountain charm. The amenities are plentiful and everything was spotless. Our entire family "cozied" right in and couldn't have asked for better.

Nice and pleasant stay in the summer
check-in process is a breeze. Place is clean and well stocked with many things. Beautiful view of the mountains from window. It is a little way up the mountain so make sure you bring some food with you if you will be arriving late.

Pictures did not do it justice.
We had an amazing week in Sugarloaf, Maine. The house easily fit our family of 7 (4 adults and 3 kids.) with plenty of room to spare. The whole house was very clean and had great views of the surrounding mountains from every room. Plenty of games and TVs when we had the energy after a day of exploring. The kitchen was well equipped as we cooked most meals at the house. The house is conveniently located right up the hill from an awesome golf course and a picturesque walk to the river (West Mountain Falls). Short drive (less than 5 minutes) to restaurants and all activities on the mountain.

A Perfect Mountain Retreat
We had an amazing 3 day family weekend at Sugarloaf. The ski in/ out location combined with a house perfectly tailored to families who prefer a casual mountain vibe in this post & beam style house will be pleasantly surprised. We will definitely come back again for another family trip. Thank you Peter for renting to us your gem!

Awesome timber frame camp on the West Mountain side of Sugarloaf
Excellent property for a great family week of skiing and riding at Sugarloaf. Classic timber frame architecture with beautiful mountain views and modern energy efficiency. Camp is well-stocked with all the provisions you need to cook and enjoy meals and stay cozy by the fireplace after a day of riding and skiing. Very clean and comfortable, such a great spot to enjoy The Loaf and the rest of Carrabassett Valley. Our host Peter was super helpful and organized - what a great spot in Maine!

Great Property with Good Access to Sugarloaf
The property was great for our group! We had a total of 7 staying to ski at Sugarloaf. The only problem with the location was that the lack of snow prevented Sugarloaf's West Mountain area from opening, so we could not ski directly from the house to the slopes. This was an unfortunate weather-dependent issue which only slightly affected our stay, since the shuttle to the base lodge was timely and comfortable. Other than this issue, we only have good things to say about the property. The house itself was pleasant, spacious, and very easy to maintain/access. A multitude of instructions were laid out neatly within the house (in addition to those established in the rental agreement) for operation of heat, television, wifi, and even snow removal and local restaurants. These alongside the comfortable living areas really let us get right to relaxing after the long days of skiing. The check-in and check-out procedures were streamlined and painless. We had no issues with the heat, kitchen appliances, or wifi. We would highly recommend this property for those wanting to ski at Sugarloaf!

Beautiful mountain home, perfect for family ski trip!
This home was a perfect location to spend New Years with the family! The location is fantastic, easy shuttle access (stop at driveway) to the slopes and restaurants. House is well appointed, great kitchen with everything needed to make meals for a large group.
Downstairs family room was perfect for the kids to escape from “boring adults” after a day on the slopes. We loved our time at Sugarloaf!

Excellent!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Peter's home. It is very clean and well maintained. The conditions were excellent for skiing as we received 14" of snow! This home is convenient to ski back to and you can either use west mtn chair when running or use free shuttle service which ran every 30 mins. Thank you

Property was very nice and clean! Ideal for our ski trip.
The house was perfect for a ski trip. Close enough to the mountain to ski back to the house. Large enough where no one feels on top of each other. Owner was very nice. Thank you!

Beautiful, cozy, convenient and clean.
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home. The owner is very nice to work with. He graciously accommodated our last minute request to stay an extra day. The home was immaculate when we arrived and stocked with everything we needed. If I could change anything about this property it would be new mattresses. They are extremely firm. Also, the plow company was not efficient at all. The driveway is steap and winding. We arrived in a snow storm and it had not been plowed. We had to park in the street and carry our belongings up the driveway in a blizzard. If you are arriving in a snow storm, call or text the number on the instructions in advance to let them know when you will be arriving. Other than that, it was a perfect experience. We would definitely recommend renting this property.
