Beautiful and quiet Cottage with 230' Frontage on Gun Point Cove

Love the dock, the osprey and bald eagles, nearby preserves/hikes, and that our pup was also welcome.

An eagle nests near our bedroom. Over the water glide ospreys, gulls, cormorants, herons, terns and a few we haven’t met yet! We love this treehouse and feel blessed to be here. Thank you, Al!

The house is a great place to relax. Very peaceful with access to a dock. We saw many eagles and ospreys. Beautiful sunrises over the water every morning. Not a good area to go for a walk but there are many nearby hiking trails.

Tranquil, beautiful, just you and the cormorants (and ospreys and seagulls and eagles). A perfect place to get away. We loved every minute.

We (husband + kids) stayed here for a long weekend for my husband’s birthday. He loves to fish so this was a great spot. Though he didn’t have any luck with the fish, we all enjoyed our stay and you couldn’t ask for a better view, scenery, and surroundings. The house was comfortable to meet our family’s needs with 2 teens and 1 infant. Great stay.

We feel incredibly lucky to be able to stay at Al’s place. Not only located with such a beautiful location right in front of water in Harpswell but such quiet/private place! Close to the Freeport outlets as well Portland ME! This place will not dissapoint.

This wonderful home gave us a rare opportunity to be in nature—on a marvelous bay frequented by eagles, herons, ospreys and more—and ensured our relaxation. We loved it!

Just lovely
Beautiful and peaceful. We couldn’t have been happier with the place. It felt remote but was still just a short drive to the grocery store and downtown Brunswick.

Excellent Location
The view is incredible, and the amenities are amazing! It’s a fantastic location. We hope to stay there again!
Our stay was unseasonably warm and wet at the same time. There was a dampness in the air in the home which lent itself to a bit of a musty smell. This did not take away from our incredible stay, but it is something to consider if you have sensitivities/allergies. You are right on the water, so bear that in mind.
The panoramic view of the ocean from the master bedroom is breath taking. It never once got old. Hearing the waves crash against the rocks lulled us to sleep every night, and seeing the sunrise over the water was the best way to start each day.
Again, we are so excited to stay there again.

Back to my roots
We stayed on Orr’s Island for a week- it is about 7 miles from where I grew up. The property exceeded our expectations in almost every way. It was fully stocked with everything we needed- the location on the water was quiet and very private. We saw deer, loons, herons and even a bald eagle without having to leave the property.
From this base we were in close distance to many excellent restaurants, shops, golf courses. In the evening we relaxed by the fire pit and listened to nature around us. The water views were fantastic! We definitely want to return to this location!

This is a great spot just far enough off the beaten path. Quiet and serene. Would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful secluded view on the water
We had a wonderful time on our first trip to Maine. This property is right on the water and the views are amazing. We loved seeing the lobster boats each morning at sunrise. The house is very well stocked with things you might need. The owner was correct in saying there are a number of steps and this location is not appropriate for those with mobility issues. Thankfully, we had no issues but did take care on the many steps. If I have any suggestions for this beautiful location, it would be to remove some of the decorative items lining the window sills. This would allow for uninterupted views and easier cleaning of surfaces. Overall a wonderful place to stay.

We had fun. It was steep somewhat going down to the fire pit and the water but I got used to it. My husband and I are seniors. We had 2 grown kids with us and two kids. , for some of the week. They loved the kayaks and the woods ! It was a great experience!

Amazing water views and water access
Like staying in a tree house with the comforts of home. Enjoyed beautiful fall weather, coffee on the porch, and fresh local oysters by the bonfire. A lovely getaway.

Peaceful Retreat
Staying here we were able to truly relax with the sounds of the birds and waves. We saw ospreys, bald eagles and gulls. Breezes off the water made it cool in the evenings perfect for a small campfire and s’mores. Knick-knacks and books lend so much character to the place. The best feature for us was the dock. Being able to swim everyday was a highlight of our stay. There were also a few kayaks which were great fun when the water was calm. This is a special place and well loved. I highly recommend it for couples and a small family.

We loved it last year but appreciated even more this year after sheltering in place due to the pandemic.

Great Spot!
Fantastic home right on the water and very private. My only problem was when I arrived the heat was set on 45 degrees and it was freezing for hours until the house warmed up. There were no paper towels and only one roll of toilet paper to be found. In fairness, I was probably the last renter of the season but it would have been nice to have somene turn the heat on prior to my arrival. Other than that, the stay was great.

Quiet out of the way place with trails nearby. The smell of the pine trees was amazing. Cool weather this time of year but still beautiful.

Beautiful place
What a beautiful place! It's so peaceful, quiet. It was just what we needed. The home and area are so nice, nicer than the picures shown here. We slept well and really enjoyed our stay here. I hope we will be able to stay again. Thank you so much, Al and Ginger.

Nice home!
We liked this house very much, stayed with my husband and 21 yr old daughter, it was everything as listed, and more, but wanted to mention a few things, it does say not for the elderly, ( Im not) this is very true there are alot of steps going to the house, down to the dock and leading to the upstairs bedroom, something I found to be VERY dangerous, the bottom four stairs that lead to the bedrooms, camoflauge (same wood) as the floor of the house, I fell down these stairs on my second day there and bruised my arm very badly. There should be strips on these stairs! Only one other con and helpful tip bring your own blankets as well as sheets, its very obviously that the pillows and blankets, comforters that are provided, are not washed in between visitors, they smell bad...the pictures do not do this house justice , its nicely decorated, there is also a gazebo that isnt show in the pictures and on the decks are tables and chairs, the outside of the house needs some work as does the shower. We enjoyed our stay we go to Maine every year and love the Harpswell area, Beautiful views from the house. My husband love the kayaks and fished every day,,,,,

Lovely and peaceful spot
We thoroughly enjoyed this property and it’s access to the water, it’s privacy, views, sunrises and quiet. There were bald eagles, osprey, seals and many more birds to watch and listen to. Unfortunately, we had a medical emergency and had to spend half of our time in the nearby Midcoast hospital in Brunswick, but we were so fortunate that it’s such a great facility, was so easy to get to and had such wonderful staff.
We will definitely need to go back again and enjoy this spot and do the things we had planned to do!

Life in a treehouse on the coast of Maine
House was homey and well organized with good instructions about gaining access, using the laundry and kayeks and so on. The best part was waking up in the master bedroom to the glow of early morning light: from the skylight to the many windows that open up high on the hill shadowed by towering pines. In spite of unusual 100plus heat, we were comfortable sleeping at night without AC. My only recommendation to visitors is to park at the opening half way down the slope; not the opening close to the house. Much easier to turn around

Our “Maine” choice for lodging in the Harpswell area
Though the location is called “Gun Point Cove” we won’t have to held at “gun point” to stay here again! We loved it. We loved the views, especially the morning sunrises right from the bed! The dock -from where we fished, and swam, and put the kayaks in - rocked us gently as we watched the eagles, read a book, or simply soaked in the sun! We loved being able to bring our dog. We completed two 1000 piece puzzles during our two week stay and we left one of the puzzles there for the next folks to enjoy (Bozer ate a piece or two from the first puzzle we’re sorry to report). We enjoyed grilling outdoors, savoring lobsters caught that day (purchased from Ericka’s), singing around the campfire, and enjoying s’mores. The house was stocked with everything we needed and every drive into town or our “destination du jour” was scenic. When we vacation in Maine again, this will be our first choice for lodging! Thanks Al and Ginger

Wow!
Al & Ginger's place was wonderful! Beautiful views of the trees changing colors and the water was crystal clear. We could hear the small waves hitting land during the night and it just rocked you to sleep. Going down to the dock was great! Look to the right and there's the ocean! Walking up the driveway, to the right, we saw two beautiful deer staring right at us. The place was clean and had all the supplies you need from cooking items, to spices, to toiletries. The bed was a little hard and squeaky in the master, but after the clean air walks we had, we fell asleep easily. I'd definitely stay there again!!

Quiet escape, just what we needed.
The views and walk down to the dock, along with the firepit made for a glorious week along this quiet and secluded cove. The house is very well-equipped, and the beds were really comfortable. Our dog found her special spot on the second floor and appreciated the great views, too! If you're seeking an escape from everyday life, rent this home and let everything go. Thank you so much!
ps- Al was very responsive when we had a short-term internet issue, and we had no other problems.
pps- we wished there was at least a ladder off the dock so we could've safely used the kayaks (and got back out, lol).
ppps- wish we were still there!

Idyllically situated with gracious host
We are longtime travelers to Maine, both inland on lakes, and coastal. No coastal rental has been more idyllically situated. The house is private, the view stunning, and the overall location (Orr's Island) has an old school laid back beach sensibility that was reminiscent to me of my childhood on Fire Island in the 60s, before the era of McMansion. My whole family, husband, teenage son and daughter, and dog all thoroughly enjoyed our time. We enjoyed kayaking (my son especially, who went every day), lingering over breakfast on the deck, and seal watching at just the right time of day. There were also eagle sightings, and, though we never saw one, we certainly heard what sounded like a porpoise. It rained for most of our stay, but the beauty and privacy of the location populated by wildlife were such that it just didn't matter. It was really exceptional.
The house itself is ample in size for a family of four, has many windows and sliding glass doors, all providing a lot of light (again, even despite a lot of overcast and rainy days), and has an overall comfortable, cozy feel. The kitchen is well stocked with wares (should you feel like cooking), and the beds are all comfortable (even the pull out sofa). We regrettably failed to read our confirmation email carefully, and so forgot to bring towels (and wouldn't have been able to come up w queen sized linens). Despite the late hour, Al was gracious and kind, and offered us use of the house's sheets and towels.
This is the only house and location that all of us agree that we want to return to. Thank you Al for sharing your treasure with us.
Warmly,
Lisa, David, Asher, Yonina, and Honey (the dog)

privacy, views, clean and comfortable. We hope to return.
We are avid kayakers and love birds, nature and all things Maine. This house gave us all of this. We work very hard and were looking for a full retreat from city living and we got it . Al, is highly communicative and attentive as a host. The house is accurately represented here online. Clean and comfortable and picturesque and very private. We hope to come back. Thank you for providing a home base for a very memorable week..
