Ocean Front Cottage On Quiet Birch Harbor

We had a wonderful stay. The house had everything we needed and had all the little touches we wouldn't have remembered to bring. We loved the outdoor seating area directly above the rocks where we could watch seabirds and animals. The house itself had multiple cozy areas to watch the ocean tides and moods also. It's the perfect oceanside retreat!

We loved the property and the host was above excellent! The view from the property was awesome. We had good nights for star gazing. Every little item was available in the cabin in the event you forgot something - this was very thoughtful. It was sooo peaceful and quiet. This is a do again for us! And the lobster!!!!!! We also enjoyed the many Maine puns, such as the Lobstore - lol and of course “Chow Maine” lol really funny! Lots to see driving around and Bar Harbor not too far away! Also the cabin was dog friendly and our sheepdog Morley rated it 5 Dogbones!!!!!

Such a beautiful location! Lots of love and thoughtfulness built into this home away from home. The June rain did not deter from our time of great joy and calm. The view is beyond amazing. Beyond ANP and the Schoodic experience are the generous and kind owners. We will never forget this place and our memories. Our hearts and minds are full. Mission accomplished!

Great house, lovely setting. Water views from most windows, not to mention porch/deck, and waterfront on the rocks.

We had a great stay at Breezy Point Cottage. In my opinion, the view alone is worth the rent you pay. The view is fantastic anywhere you stand in the cottage but it is especially magical sitting on one of the red Adirondack chairs -- watching the mackerels splashing about when the tides turn, the lobstermen check their traps, or just the sunrise and sunset. Priceless.
David is a fantastic host. He responds to messages very quickly and always provides tips on how to best experience the area.
The property is spacious, clean and well-appointed. Anything you can think of doing, the cottage has the tools or equipment for it. In the two weeks that we stayed in the cottage we were able to bake several cakes, grill several meats, steam and boil lobsters (about 3 times), and make pizza. There is a hiking kit, beach chairs, interesting books, and card and board games. It has everything you could possibly need and more.
We love Breezy Point Cottage and will be coming back next year.
Thank you David and Kathy for sharing your cottage with us. Our families are still talking about the great time we had in Winter Harbor. See you next year!

Almost Heaven
Gorgeous oceanfront location. Quiet, and off the beaten path, but close enough to restaurants, stores, etc. Plenty to do in the area, but why would you want to leave? Beautiful cottage with breathtaking views out every window, all the amenities you need, and right on the water. Well worth the trip and rental fee. Would do it again!

Beautiful Location and Super Hosts
The cottage was perfect for us. It's tucked away and offers a quiet place to enjoy the lovely cove. The host was super quick to respond and was informative and welcoming. It's closer to Schoodic, so we didn't go to MDI. We brought our bikes and kayaks and found it a wonderful location to enjoy outside.

Even better than it sounds!
We found this to be a large, clean, and well-maintained property, exactly as described. Even better, we found it to be more private and secluded than expected for an oceanfront property. Houses on both sides, but separated by at least 30 feet of woods, and nothing but woods across the street.

Amazing stay
This is a long delayed review. We stayed here during July in 2021 and absolutely loved every minute of it. From the kid’s cubby to hearing the waves first thing in the morning upstairs, I was so impressed with the amount of care that put into the place. We had excellent communication from start to finish. The dog and kids loved exploring the property, and it was a much needed time away in quieter settings. If you have already had the Intro to Bar Harbor experience and want a relaxing time in the area, I highly recommend a stay here.

A secluded gem
If you want to maximize your time in peaceful, quiet beauty and pick and choose your time spent among crowds and traffic then this is the place to be. Near enough to activities of every kind but also far enough away to escape the hassles that too often accompany them. Gorgeous sun and moon rises, a picture-perfect cove and just enough of the soothing sound and forever-horizon of the ocean to blend into a place of perfection.

Best. Stay. Ever.
Of all the places my wife and I have been in Maine, this was absolutely the most relaxing and beautiful spot yet. The cottage is designed so that just about anywhere you sit, you have a view of the Harbor. It is stocked with everything you need for a comfortable stay.
The cottage is down a 15 mph private road and I think we only heard 2 cars the whole time we were there. There's places to get lunch 10-15 minutes away in either direction. We enjoyed amazing lobster rolls at the hot dog stand in Winter Harbor to the west and on the wharf in Corea to the east (which is also where the secret beach is that we visited twice).
David responded promptly to any questions we had.
We hope we can luck out again in the coming years and return to this rusticator's paradise.

Beautiful Setting/Wonderful Cottage
Our family loved our time in Maine and stay at this vacation property. The cottage was perfect - even better than described! It was clean, comfortably furnished and very homey. The owners have gone to great lengths to provide many things that guests might wish for (e.g. flashlights, phone chargers, telescope, binoculars, kitchen supplies and more). The ocean and bay views are absolutely beautiful and can be enjoyed from most rooms in the house as well as down by the rocks. We found ourselves torn between staying " home" and venturing out to see even more of the area's natural beauty and did our best to do both. On a less positive note, we were a bit surprised that the nearby grocery stores (2) were not better stocked and that the few area restaurants had such short hours. We understood this to be due to the pandemic and the resulting supply chain problems and worker shortage. We were very grateful for the "lobstore" (lobster rolls, steamed lobster and fresh seafood) and "The Bakery" (blueberry pie, coffee cakes and other tasty treats). Please know however that we definitely didn't go hungry. Thank you so much to the owners for sharing this beautiful vacation spot! We will cherish this vacation memory forever!

Amazing and Beautiful.
This was a perfect place to stay. It is located close enough to Schoodic and Acadia that you can easily visit. Also, if you want to stay home and chill, you can do that. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals. The owners thought of every little detail to make our stay comfortable and relaxing.

Idyllic Vacation
My husband and I had a wonderful week at Breezy Point Cottage. It is evident that the owners have thought of everything. They even have a "junk drawer" in the living room with scissors, tape, batteries, ect. The kitchen is well stocked with almost every utensil you need to cook. There are backpacks and hiking essentials, dog bowls, games for children, books, movies, ...The list goes on and on. And if that weren't enough, every room sans the upstairs bathroom has a window facing the ocean! And that is just the house! The location is the absolute best. There are Adirondack chairs, a hammock, and a chimnea. We saw a harbor seal. porpoises, a bald eagle, plieated woodpeckers, and other wildlife. We called the owner and he called us back very quickly. Great communication and vacation. Thanks, David we hope to be back very soon. And please keep the pink lamp it is bomb.com!

Idyllic
Idyllic,serene,pristine,remote- I could probably continue in this manner for a while. The location could not have been a more perfect ocean front from the private drive to property front. Ocean views all around, both inside the cottage and of course outside. Well appointed, generously stocked cottage from blankets to books to pantry. And I’ve never had the privilege of talking with a more pleasant, agreeable owner! This is the only vacation we have ever been on that we wanted to stay longer. And Dave, as far as that bucket list goes, your place stays at number one with the hope of returning!

Beautiful spot and gorgeous cottage!
My husband and our 7 year old son had a fantastic time at Breezy Point Cottage, and I can't recommend it enough. Dave was a responsive host from the time we were looking at the rental to any questions we had during. It's a short drive from little restaurants and shops in Birch Harbor and Winter Harbor and a nice ferry ride over to Bar Harbor. But probably my favorite times were just spent on the screened in porch and sitting out by the rocks (dodging the inevitable mosquitoes of course). Very close to the Schoodic Peninsula so we got to explore the park and trails easily on several days. Book your stay today, you won't regret it!

Peace, tranquility, and crashing waves
I've been procrastinating writing this review because I'm having trouble finding adequate words to describe our stay at this beautiful vacation home. As soon as we arrived, the property took our breath away! We didn't even make it inside before we walked down the path between the not yet ready blueberry bushes, past the fireplace and hammock to the amazing rocky shore. Once we actually made it inside, we were in awe once again. You can see the thought and love that was put into every inch of this home. We love the many personal touches, the cool old radios, the piles of books, the quirky small details everywhere we looked. Each of us enjoyed time reading in the daybed, sitting on the porch swing, and relaxing on the deck off the bedrooms. One night, we were treated to a rough sea and waved crashing off the rocks! Even though nights were chilly, we slept with the windows open to enjoy the sound of the waves. I still miss that at night. The gas fireplace was perfect to take the chill out of the house in the mornings, and on that one rainy day. It's so quiet and peaceful, yet close enough to everything we needed. I made sure to enjoy my morning coffee on the rocks every day. Once, I was even treated to the company of a baby seal, waiting for his mom to return!
The beds were comfy, there's great water pressure in the shower, however watch out for water temperature, when it's on hot, it seems to keep getting hotter. When we arrived, we found that the front door had a hinge issue, which really wasn't a big deal, since the keys work on the side door, but David had someone out to fix it the next morning, anyway.
There is so much to explore within an hour or so in either direction. The nearby Schoodic section of Acadia was simply amazing. We ventured to Bar Harbor and the main part of Acadia twice, took a scenic flight over Bar Harbor, which we highly recommend, headed in the other direction to check out Jasper Beach and McCllellan Parks, and spent a couple of days exploring the local area. There was so much more that we didn't have time to do, so I think we're going to need another trip to the area in the future. Hopefully Breezy Point Cottage is available to us next time! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful vacation home with us.

Relaxing break by the ocean
The view was beautiful and the house was just enough off the beaten path to disconnect and relax. All of the information provided on places to go and things to do was right on point and led to amazing views and great adventures with my english bulldog. He also enjoyed his stay with the comfortable dog bed and "guest bowls" provided at the property. Highly recommend for anyone looking to unplug and enjoy some peace and quiet.

We'd like to keep this place a secret so it's always available for us, but...
This is a perfect house for a couple or a small family, or a couple of couples. It's charming, really well designed, very well equipped (the bath towels are wonderfully soft and plush...NOT always the case in rentals!), very comfortably furnished. The site is spectacular, and we spent a whole lot of time just watching the water and the birds (lots of loons and ducks) and the gray seals, either from inside (comfy on a cold, rainy day!) or from one of the decks or sitting on the rocks by the water. It's quiet, private, and off the beaten track just far enough; getting to Mt. Desert or to Schoodic Pt (go there for a spectacular sunset) is easy. We did not meet David, but he sure made us feel right at home!

Excellent oceanfront cottage
We really liked David's cottage and the location! It was on a private road with respectful neighbors and just had a sense of peace about it. The backyard is wonderful. Rocky shore to sit by or on top of and just listening to the water here is the perfect way to end the day. The cottage was spacious, well appointed for cooking had lots of outside seating options. The first floor screened in porch was quite nice as was the upper level deck off the bedroom. We saw stars and the milky way from here and had a birds eye view of an eagle several times. Comfy master bedroom with a great bed round out the house perfectly.
Many other comforts inside and the reading/napping nook on the main floor is unique and useful. So is the dining table looking out at the shoreline. David also provided lots of useful information about things to do in the area.
We would definitely recommend this house and hope to return.

Beautiful get away spot
Had a great time, nice spot you have there. Very lucky to have found it. Neighbors quiet (except for someone running a chainsaw across the harbor 7am on Sunday - but what can you do). House had everything we needed, great having access to washer and dryer.
Great views of the water from within the house and especially down at the fire pit / hammock area. Saw seals, loon, hummingbirds, eagle. Nice afternoon sea breeze even on the 90 degree days.

Wonderful cottage that was well equipped and had spectacular views.
We loved this cottage! Comfortable, well equipped and beautiful scenery.
The washer/dryer was great to have available to us.
We love Schoodic Point, so being this close was important to us. We took in several sunsets on the rocks there.
The owners of the cottage have provided a well-thought out vacation home. Communication with them was quick, attentive and friendly !
We will definitely be recommending this cottage to our friends and family. One of our best vacations to date.

Words or pictures can’t describe
Easily the best rental house we have ever stayed in. They have everything you need but all you really need is the property and the house. They are both spectacular, charming and rustic. Walk out to the shore is very private and the rocks gave our girls hours of entertainment looking for marine life. 10+ experience. So much so that we never wanted to leave the property to explore the parks and towns around

Heaven on Earth!
I stayed at Breezy Point for 8 days in August with my daughter and our two dogs. From the moment we laid eyes on the property, it was absolutely perfect. The house was absolutely pristine and everything and anything that you could have wanted or needed was available. The owners even had dog beds, dog bowls, backpacks, flashlights, emergency supplies, flashlights, etc. You can tell by the condition of this home that the owners truly want you to enjoy it and everything that Winter Harbor and the surrounding areas have to offer. We were provided with a carefully written guide of local treasures to explore, as well as several guidebooks, books about the area, and titles by local authors.
The oceanfront area with the fire pit is perfect for enjoying s'mores after a long day hiking. We loved watching the sun set from that spot as the colors in the sky and the reflection off the water were just beautiful. Each night we were put to sleep by the sound of the waves - the only thing that you hear! The kitchen was fully equipped with any utensils that you might need. We are vegan so we brought most of our food and cooked every night, supplementing with the wonderful produce from Darthia's Farm.
I was able to take some great Milky Way shots from the porch, and we even used the air mattress to stay out and enjoy the beautiful dark skies.
I can't say enough good things about Breezy Point Cottage and David and Kathy's hospitality. David was always available to answer any questions and made us feel so welcome. Can't recommend this place enough if you are looking for a quiet, peaceful area to relax and enjoy Maine.

Love at first sight!
From the moment we pulled up to Breezy Point Cottage, we fell in love. The rocky coastline is absolutely beautiful and immediately drew our daughters’ attention. They all sprinted there as soon as the car stopped! The cottage is adorable and instantly feels like home. We were impressed with how much thought went into the design of the cottage…that no matter where you sit you have a beautiful view of the ocean. It was perfect for our family. Our kids loved the daybed with play area underneath and sitting on the porch swing overlooking the water - trying to catch another glimpse of a seal. When we weren’t outside enjoying the view or climbing on the rocks, we were able to enjoy some fun games that were available inside the cottage. What also impressed us was how much the owners care about the people who come to visit…they have tried to provide everything needed to make your time there enjoyable. On one occasion we had a bit of trouble starting the gas fireplace and Dave immediately took care of it in a way that was above and beyond our expectations. I could go on for days, but I think it says a lot when it’s time to go home and your children are dreaming up ways to miss the flight so we can stay awhile (or a few years) longer. Thank you Dave and Kathy for helping to make our vacation a truly wonderful experience!

Amazing!!
The owners are the most thorough, thoughtful, and caring people we have ever rented from. The cottage is so beautiful and stocked with everything you need or forgot to pack! The views from every room are excellent! The owners also give you excellent tips on sights away from the crowds and places you don't want to miss. We loved everything about the cottage and the beautiful surroundings. Very secluded, but also close enough Schoodic to go watch the sunset every evening on the granite ledges bordering the ocean. Awesome! The stars are amazing! We sat out on the rocky ledges many nights and saw so many "shooting stars". Totally recommend staying here! Can't wait to go back some day!!

Maine - the way life should be!
Breezy Point Cottage was everything and more it promised to be, according to the pictures and write-up. The home is beautifully designed and has so many cool vista's and respite areas. We definitely took advantage of the top deck in the day and under the stars at night. We swung in the screen porch swing and ate lobster from the Corea Lobster pound at the pull up table. We took turns reading and napping on the bay window bed and drank coffee in the ledge chairs. We fed "Chippy"-the happy little chipmunk, and marveled at the seal that kept returning to our own harbor. But most of all we sat on the rocks and watched the tide change. Being familiar with Birch, Winter and Prospect Harbors...let alone Bar Harbor, we really didn't feel the need to drive out and about as much as one would when 1st discovering the area. We did alot of relaxing, a little driving around, some eating out at local restaurants and of course several trips to see the awesome powerful water at Schoodic Penninsula. It was a delightful vacation in a beautiful setting. Thank you for sharing your home!!!!

Breezy Point Revisited – 2017
We were fortunate enough to be able to spend almost a full month at Breezy Point in September/October 2017 and Maine and Breezy Point did not disappoint. The weather was predictably variable, with many cool days and chilly nights, but the cottage stayed warm and comfortable. We did more day trips than last year, exploring Acadia (MDI and Schoodic) and going north, doing short hikes and stopping in at several local shops.
We did the longer Birch Point Trail at Petit Manan and once again explored the island opposite the “private” path to the beach in Corea. On our way back from those trips we visited U.S. Bells and the Bartlett Winery/Distillery. We also stopped in at the artists and crafters shops in Winter Harbor: Whopaints Gallery, Prospect Harbor Soap Company, Works of Hand, Artisans and Antiques, and Blair Art Glass. This year, in addition to the always terrific Pickled Wrinkle, Bunkers Wharf is now open with excellent food and a terrific staff. At both restaurants the food is local and deliciously prepared, and we had several excellent meals.
Breezy Point keeps getting better and our extended stay enabled us to enjoy more of the cottage and the inlet in a more relaxed way. David and his family have been busy working on the grounds so the views to the inlet and the ocean are better without sacrificing any of the natural feel of the cottage environment. We also did the short local trail (just at the end of the driveway) that took us up towards the head of Birch Harbor. Rainy days were spent reading, preparing meals with local ingredients (Mandala Farms, Grindstone Neck Smokehouse), and contemplative enjoyment of adult beverages.
Breezy Point continues to be well designed and equipped, convenient to so many rich experiences and wonderful people in this very natural part of Down East. The cottage library of local Guides and books of area history, culture, and geography are a resource to help you plan your activities and whether you stay at the cottage to relax or go do some hikes and explore the nearby communities, Breezy Point is a perfect “base of operations” for whatever plan the day brings.

A Perfect Maine Cottage - FANTASTIC
When we pulled up to the cottage, I sighed a breathe of relief and gasped a little bit in awe. First, I was relieved that the pictures online were accurate. And second, I was stunned at how beautiful the setting was. You could hear the waves, smell the salt and I knew that I made a great decision on the rental. Walking into the cottage, you can see the harbor from everywhere. The cottage was beautiful inside, extremely functional and had everything we needed to make my family of five's Maine vacation memorable. We stayed 5 nights and enjoyed every moment. It was a little cool during our time there - warmed up decently during the day - but was chilly at night. The gas fireplace was needed a few nights for our stay and it worked perfectly. We didn't get a chance to use the outdoor fireplace (it was a little too cold and windy) plus we were exhausted every day from our outdoor adventures!
First day, we had a visit from a wild turkey and a friendly chipmunk (with half of a tail). And then that first night, my son was out on the upstairs deck and was so excited by the stars. He was like "there's the Little Dipper, oh, there's the Big Dipper..." And then, my husband and son spotted the International Space Station...talk about exciting!
The kids loved the screen porch. They would sit on the swing or at the table looking out at the ocean. The kids fought over the daybed. My son used the area underneath the daybed as his hideaway. And the dining room table was fantastic - great for card games at night. There was a good supply of games/puzzles/etc. Overall, the cottage had everything we needed. And Dave and Kathy had labeled certain things, had binders of information so there was no confusion of how things worked, where to find things, etc.
We would go down to the water and look for crabs, birds, ducks, etc. We spent a lot of time exploring the surrounding area. Went biking on Schoodic Point. Dave and Kathy recommended a bike rental place as well as a boat tour. We used Robertson Sea Tours, per Dave's suggestion, and Captain Jamie was excellent.
Overall, I would give the cottage a 10 out of 10. And the surroundings are also a 10. It truly was a perfect rental situated on an idyllic coastal Maine setting.
We would highly recommend the cottage (actually already have). And Dave and Kathy were excellent hosts. Full of information but not intrusive at all. We hope to return in the future.

A little slice of paradise!
Breezy point is absolutely beautiful! The perfect place to unwind, read a good book, and get back to nature. An ocean view from every room in the house!
The cottage is meticulously clean and fully stocked with all of your necessary amenities.
We enjoyed our morning coffee and breakfast on the screened in porch overlooking the water. We especially loved the porch swing. The quiet dirt roads made for excellent dog walking. At night we enjoyed dinner at The Pickled Wrinkle, only 6 minutes from the house- can’t beat that. All in all our stay was nothing short of amazing! David’s prompt responses to all of my questions were also very helpful and much appreciated.
Thank you David and Kathy for sharing your wonderful home with us, we hope to stay again in the future!

Welcome to Down East - "The Way Life Should Be"
Breezy Point Cottage is beautiful. David should have earned his PhD in Architecture for the design and Kathy for her work in decorating it. It’s thoughtfully laid out, not too large, not too small, with things just where you’d put them if this was your home. Everything you need for a day, week, or month is there, including a wonderful library of area history and nature books and just enough fiction to occupy a rainy afternoon. It’s located on the perfect point in Birch Harbor so you can appreciate the ocean as well as the protected harbor waters with regular visits from your neighbors the ducks, mergansers, gulls, and eagles.
Our family has been visiting the MDI area for six decades and has realized that the Schoodic area is our “go-to” location to escape the crowds in the main areas of the park (even in the fall). We’d stay on MDI and travel up the coast for a day of wave watching and hikes on Schoodic Point. This year we decided to stay near Schoodic and travel back to MDI for selected hikes, shopping, and dining. We are so glad we found Breezy Point! The new Schoodic Woods trails, and the day-trips that David provides in his materials, opened a whole new appreciation of the area to us. This is the real “Down East”! This area is so much more natural, and while there are fewer shops and restaurants, the folks here are welcoming, their products made on-site, and the food is excellent! Check out The Pickled Wrinkle, Corea Lunch on the Wharf, and Ironbound for great meals.
The only “problem” is that you may find, as we did, that Breezy Point Cottage is all you need to spend a wonderful day here. Make absolutely sure to walk down to the rocks at dawn to enjoy the sunrise. Then be sure to have breakfast in the screened porch and listen to the waves over your cup of coffee. Watch the procession of ducks up and down the shore as they enjoy their breakfast buffet. Grab a book and head down to the shore but don’t be surprised if you find your attention wandering to the water and the sky and listening to the gentle action of the waves against the rocks. It’s a great way to while away a day in the sun and fresh air. After dinner load up the chimera and enjoy a fire as the sun sets and the stars come out. After the fire has died down head up to the top level and sit out on the upper deck. The view of the Milky Way and the sky full of stars is magnificent!
Our thanks to David and Kathy – Breezy Point is truly “The way life should be”!

Solace for the Soul
This cottage was designed and built with a love of the surroundings. Every room flows naturally and has it's own unique view of nature. You can sit or stand in any room and enjoy the outdoors through numerous windows and doors.
The quality of the build is equally amazing with top choices of materials and attention to all details. It may sound silly, but even the custom bathroom door is a sight to see.
The house is plenty big for a family and their pet; but believe it or not the house is not the leading lady of this story, Mother Nature is.
During our stay we were able to walk and climb the granite coast of the bay and see the glacier slides and volcanic upheaves from millions of years ago. We were able to see the tides rise and fall close to 12 feet over the course of the day. That is a huge amount of way to see and hear come fill up the harbor. At night, these tidal sounds are soothing to the body and can cause you to fall asleep in minutes.
We had several visitors during our stay; deer, wild turkeys, a naughty raccoon, whelks, crabs, sea gulls, osprey, and a bald eagle. All of this without stepping foot off of the property.
The best part came at night, as there is no light pollution in the area, when we were able to see more stars than I have every seen in my lifetime. We had an unobstructed view, while sitting on the bedroom deck, of the S/SW sky. We were able to see Mars, Saturn, Pluto, many constellations, Vega along with the Hercules Cluster, and drum roll please... the red, nebulae gases of the Milky Way. It is sad that only a fraction of the Earth's population have seen this sight. This sky, is the reason my 9 year old spent his last night at the cottage crying. He was scared that he would never see this sky again.
As far as the town goes, there is not much to it, simple. Ellsworth is about 30 minutes away and is the place to stop on the way in to grab a week's worth of supplies at the Walmart Superstore, including a food store which is HUGE. They also have a Redbox there for movie rentals. There are a couple of small markets in Winter Harbor, but I would make the pit stop.
As for how to spend your time at the cottage, there is plenty to see and due in the region, but all involve a bit of travel. I would highly suggest getting a park pass to Acadia, you are just 5 minutes for the Schoodic Peninsula part of Acadia. I also highly recommendation Robertson Sea Tours out of Milbridge and taking a trip out to Lubec to the eastern most US.
