There was one downside of this place - the creeping service fees which are not declared on the Vrbo profile. The website announces that bedding is provided, but then the owner writes to you to ask for €10 per person for sheets and towels. On arrival, you are told to use a screwdriver to clean the shower drains of hair before you leave. Then on departure, with minutes to spare, you are told to clean the whole place yourself or pay another €50.
It’s not unusual to ask for a cleaning fee, but it’s normally listed upfront in the price, so the profile is inaccurate and misleading. After you book, the landlady sends a long contract, which may contain some of this information, but this is of no help to someone with limited French and English, and you see that info after you have made the booking.
Otherwise, It’s a very nice converted stone building in the backyard of the very friendly landlady’s own house. There is off-street parking, a local supermarket with a butcher’s stand across the street and a bakery within a walking distance. The house is comfortable, effectively on three levels with the top two contained within the same space (think American bar with an internal balcony from the westerns). The ladder to the top level is very steep, so there are two double beds that are out of reach to small children or older people.
The town is conveniently placed near Nîmes, Arles and Avignon.

We enjoyed our stay so much. This was a wonderful location with both great proximity to the central part of town, restaurants, the grocery.
All while the beautiful outdoor area of the house.
The place was a nice size, did require navigating the staircases which could be hard for some.

Wonderful
My friend and I loved our stay here. It was a perfect end to my time in France. I loved the back yard space with the lush grass, olive trees and birds singing daily. A nicely appointed kitchen, great bathroom, beautiful window overlooking the garden upstairs. Good beds, I would definitely stay again! Nicely private too, and a grocery just across the street. Very convenient.

Super surprise
Nous avons passés un séjour très agréable. Étant ma 1ere réservation sur abritel, j'avais des appréhensions. En arrivant, quel bonheur, une maison très agréable (certains commentaires disent sombre, mais grâce à ça la maison est fraîche lors des chaleurs) un jardin harmonieux, une facilité de trouver une place de parking. Un village authentique et accueillant. Réservé les yeux fermés, et le plus, les propriétaires sont à l'écoute. Merci à eux😉

Calme et Détente au cœur des Alpilles
Nous avons passé deux agréables semaines à Fontvieille chez Bernard et Mireille. La maison est en pierre qui garde la fraicheur. Appreciable lors de fortes chaleurs. Très bien équipé et aménagée. Vaste jardin fleuri et arboré. Emplacement ideal proche des commerces tout en étant au calme. Hôtes accueillant et sympathique.

Logement propre et accueillant. un jardin plaisant avec tout ce qu'il faut pour manger au calme sur la terrasse, équipement du logement trés complet, à deux pas de toutes commodités. Propriétaires présent et à l'écoute. Région avec de belles choses à voir. St Rémy de Provences, les Baux, la Carrière des lumières, etc. Vraiment super. on garde en mémoire et un autre séjour est à l'étude.

Logement pratique et calme bien situé. Cuisine bien équipée mais pas de lave vaisselle, et qu'une seule fenêtre donc un peu sombre. Sinon tout est parfait.

Super nette und persönliche Vermieter
Die Wohnung ist wie beschrieben und die Bilder zeigen: wunderschön! Wir haben die Wohnung für unseren Urlaub in der Provence genutzt um von dort aus in Tagesreisen die Provence zu erkunden: bis nach Cassis, Valensole und Cucuron kein Problem! Wir hatten tolle 10 Tage.
Die Vermieter waren sehr freundlich und waren sehr unaufdringlich. Wir bekamen kleine Tips von ihnen was man in der Umbegung machen, wann und wo Märkte sind und sogar selbstgemachte Marmelade und Tapenade aus dem eigenen Garten (also direkt von den Bäumen und Sträuchern vor der Wohnung).
Vielen Dank für die tolle und herzliche Gastfreundschaft. Wir haben es sehr genossen!

A charming spot
We very much enjoyed staying in Fontvieille - a delightful village, with convenient shops and restaurants etc, and handy for visiting many places of interest.
The property is comfortable and pretty, and an excellent place for a couple like ourselves. I do not think it would accommodate six people comfortably, and the access to bedrooms and bathroom would not suit everyone. (Narrow spiral staircase, then steep ladder to the upper sleeping loft).
We were fortunate to find a parking space on the nearby street each day, but this is not guaranteed and not ideal for loading luggage.
There is a supplementary charge for final cleaning, if you don't want to do it yourself, which is not made clear on the website.

La Douce Vie
When planning our first trip to France, we wanted to experience the beauty and charm of a small French town while enjoying the people and culture. We found Fontvieille and the friendly and helpful Benoit family! The town is steeped in beauty, history, and "la douce vie" while providing easy access to all of Provence. The apartment is living history with all modern conveniences available for a comfortable stay. Mireille, Bernard, and daughter Lou, however, make this place truly special and will assist you with planning, language, problem solving, and French hospitality.

Great location, loads of character
We really enjoyed staying in Fontvielle, and it was such a pleasure to meet Mireille and Bernard; they were very friendly and welcoming, and had lots of good advice about places to visit. The cottage is quiet, clean and comfortable, with charming, rustic interiors and lots of room plus a table and seating in the secluded garden. The village centre, market, restaurants and square are very close by. The main bedroom is roomy , however you have to walk through it to access the second bedroom, which is in a loft with a steep ladder for access.
This is in a great location for accessing Arles, Avignon, Orange and the Cotes du Rhone villages. Great value for money.

Lovely compact little cottage
Very small cottage right near the centre of this great commune. Lots of lovely restaurants (must try the fish restaurant 3 doors down) and bars/Cafes to try. Bustling little place with choice of boulangeries and some lovely walks.

Traditional Cottage in a lovely small Town
Easy to live in every thing we needed, lovely sun drenched garden, we didn't want to come home, and the owners were very helpful. A very convenient location, with the supermarket across the road, the town just up the road and lots of lovely places to visit just a short drive away

Pleasant, quiet, super location
Un séjour agreable à Fontvieille. Le gîte est bien équipé, on a vraiment trouvé tout ce dont nous avions besoin et l’escalier en colimacon n’a pas posé de problème ! Pouvoir prendre nos repas dans le joli jardin en écoutant le roucoulement des pigeons était un plaisir. Et les abricots vraiment délicieux.

Wonderful stay in Fontvieille
End of May and beginning of June.
We stayed at B and M Benoit's house in Fontvieille for over a week. The house was very comfortable: cool on hot days and warm with the windows closed. The place is very well equipped: good stove and fridge, TV and lovely garden. The upstairs is large with a big screened window overlooking the garden. With the window open - the morning birds - wonderful sounds. Excellent bathroom with lots of hot water. Mireille and Bernard, the hosts, were very helpful when we needed to know something, but otherwise we had total privacy. The location of the house in Fontvieille is very good. One can walk to most restaurants, and the super market is across the road. No problem parking on the road, we always found a spot. We ate at the La Table du Meunier, also in walking distance. I certainly would stay there again. Excellent.

Perfect location
This was perfectly located for exploring western Provence. We were an hour or less by car from Avignon, Arles, Pont du Gard, Gordes, and the Camargue. The apartment has so much charm and warmth; we felt right at home there. The host and hostess were very helpful and friendly. The kitchen is well-equipped, and the upstairs bedroom is very romantic. The spiral staircase to the bedroom and loft would be difficult for anyone with a disability, but we are both seniors and were able to negotiate fine. There is a lovely outdoor sitting area to enjoy a glass of wine at the end of a busy day of touring. It was so handy to have the supermarket right across the street (which does not create any noise or congestion). We often ate our main meal mid-day wherever we were exploring, and picked up bread, cheese, and wine at the market for an informal, relaxing supper. All in all, staying at this VRBO greatly enhanced our French experience, and we would gladly return for another trip.

Great home base
We had a lovely stay here. The location was great to explore the area, very close to a lot of the major sites. The apartment was very comfortable. The bathroom was very large and well appointed. There is a spiral staircase that leads upstairs to the bedroom. There is a barbeque and very nice outside table and chairs and a lovely large garden. There is a grocery store right across the street. Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful. The apartment had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Parking was a breeze. Really good pizza one block away.

Great base to explore Provence
We just spent 12 days in this unit and would go back if we have the opportunity. We had plenty of space for two, it accommodates many more, it is quiet, well-equipped with multi-lingual tv options and very good wifi access. We enjoyed the short walk to the supermarket and to the various downtown restaurants, wine bars, bread and pastry shops. We slept well. There is a tricky staircase to the bedrooms and bathroom which would be a challenge if your mobility is restricted. A car is essential if you plan to explore outside of the town but Fontvielle has enough to keep one occupied for a number of days if your goal is to experience the tranquility and lifestyle of a small French community. Mireille and Bernard were responsive, helpful and gracious hosts. If you enjoy tennis, it might be worth bringing your gear.
