A fantasy apartment with all of the comforts of home. This was a stand out stay for the rest of our lives. Truly a dream location. We loved every minute.

Beautiful apartment inside 12th century castle - centrally located - we had no car and got around the city and Tuscany just fine!

This property was amazing - just the right combination of rustic and modern. Kitchen was great for cooking and the views from every direction can't be described adequately (even with the pictures posted). The only suggestions we have would be to change the shower curtain and have clearer directions about the garbage. We would rent this property again without hesitation - and we hope to visit there again!

We really enjoyed our stay in this castle in Panzano in Chianti! Such a quaint little town and the views from the apartment are amazing! We really enjoyed wine tasting in Volpaia. The girls at Enoteca Baldi were so sweet and really helped us to get oriented. We had enjoyed some snacks and drinks on the terrace at II vinaio. It was open all day which was convenient while we got used to the culture and time change. Michiel and Toscalinda were both very helpful and accommodating. Thank you for the lovely stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the castle apartment in Panzano in Chianti. It was clean, modern - in a well preserved historic way, and in a charming little town in the heart of Chianti. Michiel and his housekeeper were excellent hosts. The unit was well outfitted with everything we needed. Quaint little Ristorantes in town were within walking distance, and the views from the balconies at sunrise and sunset were themselves worth the price of admission. Malto Bravo.

Dear Michiel, Thank you for this fantastic stay at your appartment with a magnificent view on the countryside. The appartment is very tastefully furnished and equipped with everything you need. Panzano is a cute little town with little shops, a bakery, a butcher and a fantastic wine cellar (Academia del buon gusto) just a few hundred meters from the appartment. We hope that we'll have the chance to come back one day!

Our two-week stay at the apartment was everything we could have hoped for. The rooms are generous-sized, light-filled,comfortably and tastefully furnished. There are two balconies with magnificent views. Unfortunately the walls are high, and the views disappear when one is sitting down. This could easily be corrected by the owner by . replacing the existing furniture with comfortable, high bar chairs and an elevated table. While the location is convenient, it is not suitable for those who have difficulty walking up a steep hill or climbing stairs. Toscalinda contributed to the quality of our stay. It was a treat.

We kept adding additional days to our stay as we enjoyed it so much and he was excellent with communication and adjustments to our schedule.The next time we are in Tuscany we hope to stay at the castle again!

We loved staying in the charming apartment, and especially enjoyed the views of the valley below. We had a difficult time finding it, but with help of a few locals, we moved in. It requires strength to get the suitcases up a steep hill and a flight of stairs, so might not be a good choice for the elderly. We hope to return to Panzano again. In this small town, there is a wonderful restaurant within walking distance called Ristorante IL Vescovino. You must try the Tiramisu. The wines in the Panzano area are highly rated, and the people very friendly. We cooked delicious food in the well equipped apartment , and enjoyed the wines, mostly Chianti Classico and Super Tuscans. If you need to know something about the apartment, the woman across the hall is extremely helpful.

This wonderful apartment deserves five stars, except for one issue that may not be of concern to some visitors. Unfortunately, we arrived after dark on our first day and had difficulty finding the apartment despite having fairly good directions from Michiel and after having touched based with Toscalinda, Michiel's contact for the apartment. So, I would highly recommend arrival during daylight hours. But, the place has incredible views overlooking the countryside around Panzano, and it is very well furnished in both modern and rustic ways. At arrival, it is a steep climb with luggage up a driveway to the building that houses the apartment, through a gravel walkway and then courtyard and a flight of stairs. While you can drop off your luggage close to the apartment, parking is a bit of a walk after that. There is much to do in the area for the adventuresome, and many interesting hill towns are a short drive away. Panzano is a nice little town. I bought a hand painted coffee mug there at the local hardware store, and we enjoyed the local wine festival one afternoon.

Panzano was a great little village situated right in a perfect area for touring Tuscany. We only stayed a couple nights, but wished we would've had more time here. The castle was beyond my expectations. We absolutely loved the view and hope a stay there again is in our future.

The castle is in panzano in Chianti....almost next to the church ...in case you are lost ! The castle apartment is modernized... great kitchen, huge living room, separate areas for shower and tub and bidet in bathroom, and bedroom! All rooms have shuttered windows that open up to panoramic views of something interesting and beautiful! The town is small..but the owner gives very great advise on what to do . He is also very prompt in responding to emails. One place he suggested to have a glass of wine is next to church ( on right)...(castle is on the left of the church). Has the best grappa ever. Not to mention you can try many varieties of wines or beers. The owner and waiter were incredibly helpful and made us want to return next year! A surprise fireworks festival occurred one night and they were setting up for something else when we left! They do keep busy! Plus..delicious bakery with old wooden oven just steps away..daily pastry were fabulous...you'll walk them off! Enjoy and relax!!

We spent a week in this apartment in December. The heat and hot water were excellent, the kitchen was large and useful, and 2 couches were extremely comfortable, the bedroom large and comfortable, the bathroom excellant, and piano was in tune! Of course the views were tremendous, the church bells romantic. Most of the facilities in the area were closed (wineries, farm-stays, restaurants) but we did fine one winery to tour north of Greve, and the butcher shop was open as well as the associated restaurant which was excellent. The lack of other tourists offset the shortage of places to visit, but then there is only so much time in the day! The town market on Sunday was fun. We enjoyed driving on the back roads of this area due to the ever-changing sun-lit views. Panzano's location is centrally located for exploring Tuscany by car. The town is large enough to have all of the necessary services, but not large enough to be overwhelmed by "modern" Italy,

Charming and spacious--exceeded all of our expectations. Pictures on the web are a good representation but the views are even better than can be captured by pictures. Tocolinda, the property contact, was extremely helpful and such a sweet lady. Panzano has several outstanding restaurants within walking distance and numerous wineries withi a few Km. Everyone we met was so gracious despite our minimal knowledge of Italian. I sincerely hope we are able to return to this magnificent venue.

We just returned from a remarkable12-night stay at this wonderful apartment. From the very beginning and throughout, the owner Michiel was always responsive, easy to deal with and to the point. The apartment is located atop the hill in Panzano, which offers one of the most remarkable views we have ever seen – olive groves, vineyards galore and valleys as far as the eye can see. With the height, it’s as if you were on a 5th or 6th floor. Inside, the layout is great, with ceilings approaching 5 or 6 meters high. The kitchen is well equipped (pots, pans, stove, microwave and more), with a window that offers great sunsets! The living room and dining room space is very spacious with glass doors that open on two separate balconies. The bathroom is also of a very good size, and so is the bedroom. The place itself is very quiet, you don’t hear neighbours around. One great encounter: the lady who takes care of the apartment for the owner and who lives next door is absolutely a charm. Toscalinda would check on us from time to time to make sure everything was OK, and provided useful advice on the apartment, the town and beyond. Whenever we would meet, our exchanges would always be fun and colorful as our Italian is pretty approximate, as is her English/French – it made for great laughs! Toscalinda: La ringrazio molto per tutto! Panzano is ideally located, some 30 km from Florence and Siena. We had great drives in the Chianti countryside, and day excursions to towns such as San Gimignano (60-minute drive), Assisi, Montepulciano and Volterra (90-minute drives) as well as Orvieto (2-hour drive). We were so much looking forward to our stay in Panzano, and gosh, were we ever delighted with it. We will cherish memories for a lifetime.

What an amazing place.I felt like I was in the 15th century. I echo what other reviewers have said, so won't repeat, but have just a couple of things to add. There is a very handy city bus to Florence from the main square in Panzano. It cost less than 4 Euro a ticket and got us to the centre of Florence in an hour. Buy your tickets at the bar in the main square, and save the hassle of driving and parking in Florence. Also, we had problems finding the place too. This is what we would add to the directions. Go up the hill to the church. Turn left at the church. Take your first right. (There is a traffic mirror and a couple of road signs there). Go down that street. Just after you pass house number 29 on your left, take a steep right turn up a private driveway. ( Toscalinda told us we could unload our luggage there). Go through the archway and see the courtyard on your right. Number 17 is tucked into the far corner. Once your luggage is unloaded, go back down the drive, turn right, and park along the castle wall on the left side of the road. We loved the restaurants Michiel recommends in his info package and also the two towns he suggested seeing. We would add Castellena as one of our favourites. Finally, take mosquito repellent to spray on your legs and ankles when you are eating at outdoor restaurants and you'll be set. I will recommend this place to my friends. Nit is by far and away the most unique rental I have ever experienced.

We loved our little castle apt despite it's rustic charm, a bit heavy on the rustic at times. The place is beautifully decorated and the views are magnificent. It is in the village so you should expect some hills and cobble stones, the parking a bit away from the place didn't bother me. If you want to park at the front door don't stay in the middle of the old villages. The patio is lovely but not really conducive for lounging or eating breakfast, just a bit small. We visited the pool one day and it is really nice. If you want lunch there they need a days notice. The village is sweet and we loved the little wine bar around the corner even ate dinner there one night. We had no problem finding the place once we got onto the 222 but the directions from the airport are vague so recommend gps. our phone with google maps was a great gps for everywhere.

This rental is perfect in every way. The apartment is gorgeous; Toscalinda, the housekeeper, is very sweet; and the view off the balcony is spectacular. Right down the street is a great restaurant (Il Vescovino, I think) that is equally amazing. Please stay here. You won't regret it!

Wonderful place...like a dream. Amazing views, friendly and informative owner and housekeeper. The restaurant Cantinetta Sassolini, just 1 min way way under the bridge, was out of this world! Thank you Michael, i'll never forget this place. If you are ever thinking of selling this place, do let me know!

We could not have asked for a more perfect location for our first visit to Italia! The castle apartment exceeded our expectations with it's views, charm, cleanliness and privacy. We fell in love with Panzano and this was a perfect location for us to visit Florence, Greve and surrounding villages and wineries. Our entire experience was delightful and romantic.

We just concluded our 1 week stay in this spacious castle apartment. Apartment is possibly even better than described. You know those paintings you see of Tuscany and you think maybe the artist is taking some artistic liberties? The view you have from the front balcony is even better than that! Truly spectacular scenery. Vineyards & olive trees as far as the eye can see. Panzano is the perfect location from which to explore the entire area of Tuscany. You will find that you don’t have to leave the village to find a great winery and excellent restaurants. You have 2 excellent restaurants about a 1 minute walk from the castle. The cafes, bars and enotecas offered great places for morning coffee, gelato or a relaxing glass of wine. We found everyone to be very friendly and helpful. Definitely do not miss the Sunday market. We stocked up on cheeses, fruit and vegetables for the entire week’s breakfasts. You can also get toiletry items. Best of all you can buy incredible leather goods (purses, wallets, belts) for extremely good prices. Do bring Euros since many of the vendors do not take credit cards. The little grocery stores had the meats and bread not found at the market. Get your bread (don’t miss the dark bread) from the little store just down the hill from the church on the right hand side. Apartment was clean and well maintained. The “housekeeper/property manager” was very friendly and helpful. When she saw us coming or going she made sure we were finding everything and enjoying our stay. We would definitely stay here again and will recommend highly to our friends.
