Great view and Gene is a wonderful host!

Clean, comfortable, cozy and quiet. Bigger than it looks in pictures. Perfect for our family of four (our kids are teenagers). View so good you’ll wonder what you did to deserve it. Kids loved catching crabs and gathering oysters. The Hood Canal is a short walk downhill from the cabin. Host Gene was fantastic. Knowledgeable about the area with excellent tips on how to pick and cook oysters and where to hike without crowds (Staircase trail in Hoodsport - about 45 minutes away). A curious seal hung around us all day on the canal. Stayed a good distance away and would pop their head up every half hour or so. Very cute. Saw one harmless jelly fish. Watching the tides go out and come back in was amazing for us Michiganders. From Union we explored Ruby Beach and also drove to Mount St. Helens. Perfect!

Gene is truly an amazing host!! The place is small but perfect. Nicely tucked in under the trees which keeps the place cool. I suggest that you use the stairway at the back of the home down, cross the street, to the padded area right on the beach. There is a fire pit and when the tide is high you can jump right in off the padded grassy area. Bring corn hole and set it up there. We brought our paddle boards too, We couldn't be more happier with the place. You will not regret this stay!!

Husband wanted to cancel all other itinerary and just stay here the whole week. Wonderful place, wonderful location. 👍👍

This was a perfect getaway for a girls weekend. The deck was wonderful to sit out on at night and enjoy the beautiful view.

The location was great for the wedding we were attending at Alderbrook Resort! The view was fantastic and the unit had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable, but the futon was pretty hard and uncomfortable.

The view is just as shown in the listing. One almost doesn't need to go anywhere else. But it is an older property. While the bathroom has been remodeled, the rest of the house is a little run-down. Something of everything has something about it damaged or missing. That was a little disappointing, but considering the price, I suppose that might have been expected. There is no AC and we were there during a heatwave. The two fans do keep one mostly comfortable.

Gene's directions to property were great. It's tucked away in a grouping of houses which is pretty quiet (except for some road noise drifting up from below). View from the deck is wonderful and we enjoyed sitting out looking at Hood Canal and the Olympics. The house has a somewhat rustic, 50's feel to it but was clean and since we weren't really cooking there, suited our purposes. There were a couple of issues with a slow bathroom sink drain and a wobbly area of deck railing that we told Gene about as we left so they should be fixed by now. This is an area that doesn't have a lot of reasonably priced options for overnight stays and this property was very reasonable. Good proximity to hiking.

This place was perfect! The location was good for hiking nearby or Olympic National. The owner, Gene, was the friendliest, most accommodating host you could ask for! He is terrific. He went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. Would highly recommend.

Very cute cabin, well stocked with linens, kitchen appliances, dish's, etc. Even a cupboard stocked with seasonings, cooking oils, and specialty sugars. Amazing views, and lovely covered deck, to enjoy morning coffee, evening cocktails, or just relax and listen to the birds. The downfall...the furniture is absolutely horrible, the futon couch is old and lumpy, not comfortable at all, the chair sinks in a little, and the bed and pillows were the worst, horrible 2 night of sleep, or should I say, very little sleep. Will not rent again, unless the furniture gets upgraded.

Very clean cabin with everything you need for a short stay. It was rainy so we really appreciated the covered balcony with beautiful views.

We enjoyed a nice quiet and relaxing overnight with a beautiful sunset view of the water and mountains. Clean and cozy accommodations. Gene, is a super host....very friendly and quick to respond.

The place was perfect for a weekend getaway. It was clean and the views of the mountains were just beautiful. Easy check-in process and Gene was very communicative. The short walk to the beach to grab some oysters was a nice plus as well!

My wife and I enjoyed this quiet, cozy bungalo. We were looking for just such a place to enjoy each other's company, and this place did just that. Don't feel disappointed that this place isn't right on the beach. Being just across the road and on the first tier up the hill actually improves the view across Hood Canal, and you're still within walking distance of the beach. We watched the sun set on the Olympic range across the water. The large chair in the living room was really cozy for a while but we wish it had been a little larger, maybe a love seat that would comfortably accommodate a couple. The futon is good as an extra bed for children, but our older joints would have appreciated a cushier couch. Everything else was perfect, and we loved the place. Be sure to bring groceries, as there's not much available in Union. Some of the local restaurants offer carry-out as well as dine-in meals. Gene was communicative and helpful. We would reserve again.

This little gem was a perfect quiet and scenic getaway. We even walked down to enjoy the view right at the waters edge.

Wonderful and reasonably-priced home with a splendid view of the water and Olympic mountains. Great deck with comfortable chairs to enjoy the view. The kitchen was very well appointed with everything needed for a quiet little getaway. Check in and check out was exceptionally easy. Dos Margaritas down the street a mile or so was very delicious. Friendly staff and great food. We definitely recommend this place. It’s nice to find a wonderful reasonably priced VRBO that doesn’t gouge you with service charges and cleaning fees. We will be back.
