NEAR FRENCH QUARTER - 4 Bdrm Home - LOW RATES! - Safest Neighborhood.

The house was nice but a bit outdated. The porch was dark coming and going as the motion light does turn on until you are right at the door and the sliding doors need blinds as anyone can see in at night while we were in the living area. The basement bathroom had a weird step down and one of our group fell. Suggestions would be to put up blinds and put someone on that step to show it’s there for safety

Quiet Neighborhood close to everything. Plenty of room for our family. Would stay here again.

We had a blast! The house is beautiful. The location is beautiful. Mr. Larry is nothing but amazing. He was always available when we needed him. There was even a play pen for my 1 yr old. We felt at home. Would definitely stay here again.

The property was spacious and located in a truly wonderful neighborhood (Arabi, St. Bernard Parish.) It was generally represented accurately from the VRBO listing with a few minor changes. Overall a great experience.

What a perfect place for the 7 of us to come together from Florida, Colorado and Iowa to celebrate our birthdays! The house is lovely and spacious and the neighborhood is clean and quiet. We could make short trips to the airport, the grocery store, beignet run, across the lake, the garden district and the zoo!

The house is great with plenty of room. The location is great, not too far from the strip, not too far from stores, and Walmart

We loved our time in NOLA- being able to stay in a home that was close to the French Quarter but not too close was awesome. What made us choose this home was the dining room, kitchen, and living room areas that were larger than most other homes I considered. We spent most of our time together as a family so these areas were perfect. (Except the couch needs to be retired. Great size but sinking in in some spots)
Larry was a great host who responded quickly to any questions I had before trip and during trip.
If you plan to do a lot of cooking, you need to bring some of your own cookware bc this was lacking - plenty of dishes and silverware- but not enough pans or large enough frying pans or casserole dishes to cook for many people. There was a rice cooker so this made our Cuban family very happy but no measuring cups or mixing bowls. Like others have said, the jome needs a little TLC -
But overall we were very happy with our stay in this home.

The 8 adults went in pairs or more where they wished to go. Everybody was impressed with all the ways and means and operations and performances. We were fascinatingly impressed. Enjoyed every minute.

Perfect for our big family
We loved this home while we enjoyed time with family. It was big enough for our whole family and significant others. There was plenty of space for the kids to run around and every main room was large enough for everyone to be in at once. The kids enjoyed chasing the lizards in the yard:)

Good Find!
This is an older home, but it was still very nice. There was 10 of us and we loved the spread-out space. Three full baths made it easy for us to get ready for the day. We loved the little store /restaurant just a few blocks away.... we walked and the food was amazing. Nice area to sit outside screened in and another area not.
If I had to make suggestions it would be for more cookware in the kitchen... such as pizza pan, we purchased a pizza cutter and left there. Maybe a pitched to make teas or drinks, blender. Dish towels..... but nothing we just couldn't do without...... We would/ will rent again!

Safe neighborhood
The house was alright. Large and fit everyone. The Arabi food store a block away was amazing for breakfast and lunch! The host was extremely accommodating and communicative. 2 of the beds in the lower part of the house were a little uncomfortable. Better for kids then adults. The other rooms were spacious and nice hot showers. The outdoor fenced in seating area was nice for morning coffee. There’s a cute grocery store close by and a Walmart.

Great property and area
I had an amazing stay had no problems!! I reached out to Larry for a question he answered me back!! Was giving the code for the property before going !! I had a great stay with no problem!! Will be staying again if I come back to New Orleans!! The area was right down the road from Bourbon and well as a casino two blocks from the house!!

Excelent location
Owner communication was excelent. House was ready and clean. Cant complain on location either. 15/20 minute uber ride for myself and 9 other friends. Quite neighborhood. Cant beat the price and convience even during the mens NCAA Final Four that we didnt planbon attending but did anyway.

TL;DR - Disappointing
Have no doubts about it, Larry ran this like a business from the first interaction until the last. Sadly, communication was lacking during our stay. I am going to be specific.
We were looking at two properties he had listed. One property was $20 cheaper per day and we wanted to know what the differences were. He said "None" and promptly increased the price. After requesting he honor the original price as a "Thanks for telling me", he was only willing to lower the price by $10.
We also asked if the kitchens were stocked the same at both properties and he indicated he kept his kitchens well stocked. This couldn't be further from the truth. For example, the oven had one rack.
Upon arrival we had to reach out to Larry to find out how to gain access. We were accustomed to this being provided ahead of time.
The property needs a lot of TLC. Examples, the kitchen door had a towel for a curtain. The sliding door had no curtains. The master bathroom window was about to fall out and could not be locked. Several windows were very difficult to lock. The first floor bathroom didn't have a toilet paper holder and the tub didn't drain well. The kitchen sink sprayer leaked when running the water. There was an animal in one of the walls and I killed a cockroach. The bathrooms need better towels and places to hang them. The yard had empty paint cans and other construction junk.
For an experienced, multi-property owner, Larry provided no information about the property or area onsite. For example, we had to find the WiFi password under the router, after finding the router. We expected "the welcome book" like we have had at every other short-term rental property we have stayed at.
Back to communication. Arabi was hit by an EF3 tornado the third evening (7:30pm) of our stay. The path was a block and a half from the property. Larry NEVER reached out. I reached out in the morning and he replied. Since the power was out I asked if he had heard an ETA. No response. I asked if he had another property with power. No response. I let him know we chose to relocate. No response. I reached out a week later and all Larry offered was a credit for a future stay. We passed.

Nice location, needs maintenance
Pros:
- Plenty of space for our group
- We were able to park two cars off the street
- Easy to load and unload the cars through the patio door
- Having 3 full bathrooms was nice
- Generally a quiet neighborhood
- An easy drive to downtown New Orleans
- Nice big dining room table
- Fans for each bedroom helped to even out the temperatures in the house
- Lots of bath towels (but no dish towels)
- Good internet access
- The kids liked the smart TVs in the bedrooms and took full advantage of them to watch YouTube
Cons:
- Kitchen not well apportioned, don't plan on cooking much. We didn't even have enough plates for the 8 people we booked the place for. There wasn't even a can opener, there were 3 corkscrews though, so I guess it depends on your priorities...
- Many of the kitchen items were dingy/dirty looking, so we bought some scrubbies and washed everything before using it.
- Check-in information wasn't provided on the website, we had to ask for it a couple of times.
- There wasn't an information book like we are used to having when we checked in. We had to ask for the WiFi information.
- The place could use some maintenance. The screen on the porch was torn in many places and several lights in the house didn't work.
- The couch was a bit difficult for my parents to get up out of as it was rather low.

Nice house. Some amenities could’ve been better and the location is a bit far from e French Quarter. But it really accommodated my group

Wonderful Place to Stay
We enjoyed our vacation and staying at this property was an integral part of our happiness. The neighborhood was very quiet, calm and peaceful. The living room couch was different than in the pictures, it was an extremely comfortable huge sectional. We would definitely stay here again!

Weekend getaway
This property was amazing, looked just like the pictures, actually the pictures didn’t do this house no justice. The neighborhood was very quiet and close to everything. What made this trip extra sweet, the neighborhood kids came and gave us fresh baked brownies right out the oven and homemade lemonade. The kids mentioned since MR Larry have a lot of visitors they like to pass out treats.
I would definitely come back and stay at this property in the future.

DO NOT STAY HERE ‼️
The house was freezing cold when we first got there. After awhile it started to warm up but the upstairs room was HELL so hot my nose started bleeding through the night. Turned the A/C on just for it NOT to work so had to sleep in the living room. Besides that the bathroom downstairs on the lower floor the tub and toilet was stopped up informed the owner and NO RESPONSE! WiFi was on the refrigerator NEVER worked come to find out that wasn’t the WiFi name or password had to get the information from the modem. I will NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN!

It’s always great!
This was our second time staying at this property and everything was great. He upgraded a lot of things from our last stay and I loved it. Also, Larry went above and beyond for me. I needed breaks done on my car. I asked did he know anybody and he referred me to 3 people. My family and I will always stay at this property when we come to town.

Really good location, but the house NEEDS some love and cleaning in the common areas.
The house is big and in a really good location. The beds were clean but the rest needed better cleaning. It has a cool porch were we could've hangout when we got back from downtown, but it was super dusty. The pricing of the rental had a high amount for cleaning fee, so it was a surprise to find partsof the house like this. But the biggest deal since we traveled with children was, no WIFI and it was advertised. The owners son came to check it out, said he will return with a solution, we're still waiting for him. We made the best of it and had a good time, but will not stay here again.

Outdated Property
This property did not deliver! The pictures must be severely old or extremely filtered...The house smelled when we walked in like it had been locked up for months. There were cob webs and spider webs everywhere. The house needs a lot up grading and simple home repairs. Cracks on the walls and around the windows, fresh paint, caulking around the tubs...The towels were old and rough....we were scared to use them so we got new ones. The house was extremely dusty and smelled. I complained to the property owner about the condition of the house and the refrigerator being broken I never got a response. The stove was very old and rusting. The microwave had completely lost its face plate that keeps the door in place. The yard was not usable because of the mosquitoes due to the pudding of water in the yard, and the stray cats. Plus the porch was dusty and the screen netting was torn and screen door was missing. The side door had a gap where the weather stripping needs to be replaced. We left early due to an animal coming through the side door that was in the house. I did inform the property owner again with no response. Arabi is a great town but don't waste your time or money on this house!

Girls Trip for Mardi Gras
The property is clean and safe and worked well for the five of us. It happened to be cold during our stay and it was hard to heat the house up. All the heat went to the upstairs master bedroom while the rest of the house was still quite cold. But we enjoyed it overall and the property had everything g we needed. Great location, too!

An economical option for families
Our family was in town for the Sugar Bowl and wanted an economical option to a hotel. Our expectations were not so lofty. The house easily accommodated the 10 adults (16-75 yo). Access to NO was easy and the bus was only a short 4 block walk through what we perceived as a quiet safe neighborhood.
There were some flaws to the place but none that dampened our family time together. You can tell the owner is trying to improve the space on a budget.
A couple of items to note:
- there are some aesthetic damage and maintenance items
- there is a lack of kitchen utensils if preparing a large meal
- as mentioned in other reviews the freezer struggles to get really cold
- the table only seats 8 people, the other had to sit at the counter
- we had hoped to watch some football bowl games however the cable does not provide ESPN
- it appeared the drier latch was not operational as the cleaning person brought us towels a couple days later and when we tried to use the drier the door would not latch - not a big deal for us
We really liked our time together as a family and the ability to get out of the city yet be close enough to enjoy.
Thank you,

Great Neighborhood
Neighborhood was excellent and convenient to downtown. I would of just preferred a cleanier house maybe some fresh paint in the upstairs bedroom

All was good except for the neighbor
Property was as described. Could use some attention cosmetically but you can see efforts have been made to update property. It was unfortunate we could not open the curtains facing the neighbors yard because it was such an eye sore. The neighbor constantly yelled at her dogs swearing at them and threatening to break their necks. On one o’clock I witnessed her throw the dog away from her because it was crying in distress because it was all tangled up. She kept referring to someone the house as a crack head. When we were in the front yard she was encouraging one of the dogs to leave the yard and not come back. She asked us if we wanted it because she was done with him. Very sad. I wish I could have taken him home. On the plus side the house was as described and fit our needs. Some rooms were smaller than we thought and we couldn’t put our suitcases in the room because there wasn’t any room. Unfortunately not all rooms had closets. The house was clean and when we had an issue with a faucet someone came over immediately to fix it. He was very nice. The landlord was responsive to our texts and very pleasant on the phone. I would rent a different property from him if we need to in the future. It is unfortunate about the neighbor but that’s not his fault. Besides the neighbor everything was fine.

Beautiful stay
Larry made our stay easy and memorable. The house was beautiful and bigger than. The pictures make it look. It was so easy to get to the quarter and near some pretty awesome restaurants. Upon arrival, the house was being painted which me happy to see the owner taking pride in his property. Had no issues with our stay and hope to work with Larry again.

Lots of problems
Mold in the bedroom, couldn't use kitchen sink had a pan under it because it leaked, dishwasher when ran water all over the floor, refrigerator was not working properly all of our food in the freezer thawed, the face of the microwave would fall off when you used it, no internet our son had to tell the manager what we needed for it to work, called home away no help set on hold for 45 minutes they hung up on us instead of trying to help I feel we deserve a refund of part of our money after spending a lot of our vacation time on the phone trying to resolve problems some things did get fixed but really put a bad impression on using VRBO and effected our family vacation in a negative way

Loved our time at this home
Large house where we could spread out. Truly 4 bedroom 3 bath. Solid build which helped in not having everyone bothered if they wanted to go to bed earlier than others. Loved the screened in porch and utilized it a lot. Basics to start with trash bags, paper towels, plates, cups, (only 3 coffee mugs if you need those), and laundry supplies. Larry was good to work with throughout our stay. Thank you!
