Very relaxing

This is a great place to stay, just off the beaten track and quiet yet yards from the beach. We had a couple of logistic issues but the owner took great care to resolve them immediately. What a great place to stay.

We spent Thanksgiving at this adorable property. We loved the old oaks that surrounded the property. I even put up my hammock and enjoyed the fresh air. It was a quick walk to the beach. The owner was very responsive.

Beautiful location. Quiet neighborhood and friendly locals. The live oak trees surrounding the house are wonderful and the squirrels are entertaining. Most relaxing vacation we have had in a very long time. We are already planning to return.

Lovely location among the trees with the sound and ocean just steps away! House interior has been updated - decks could use some TLC and some comfy seating.

Excellant for vacation

This hidden treasure was exactly what we were looking for in a beach house - a quiet street, a quick walk to the beach and a short drive to the main part of Surf City. The house was very cozy and the view of the trees was pretty amazing. The kitchen was well equipped and we were able to make dinner there with ease one night. We so enjoyed sitting on the screened in porch as well as the front "deck" looking on to the street. There were house plants throughout that made the house even more welcoming. Julie was an excellent host and quick to respond to any questions I had. What a great beach house with such good energy! I hope we are able to return again!

This cottage is perfect. While spending time on the beach is my favorite thing to do, a close second is spending time on the lovely screened porch. The house is very clean, well-maintained and has everything needed for a wonderful stay.

This cozy cottage was the perfect place to come home to every night. Queen size bed was comfy for husband and I. Full size bed with bathroom was perfect for my two sons (10&12). The outdoor shower was perfect for rinsing off after spending time in the sun & sand and not tracking sand upstairs. Kitchen was well stocked and I could easily cook in dinners if we didn’t want to go back out. We were sure to bring some essentials so we didn’t need to buy them once there: laundry soap, dishwasher tabs, paper towels, a few rolls of TP- it was the perfect amount. The outdoor/screened in porch was so relaxing for coffee in the morning and a great mid-day nap…. Always a choir of cicadas to sing you to sleep! All in all- great, cozy, very clean, lovely. We would go back! We originally planned to bring our lab pup (1yr)but did not end up bringing her. Julie has a lot of pretty decor around that she prob would have knocked over with her wagging tail 😂 perfect for mature dogs!

I have never stayed at the beach under the trees before and it was perfect. The covered porch was fabulous to sit and enjoy an evening thunderstorm. Great beach shower. Kitchen had everything we needed - even a giant stock pot for making Frogmore stew.

Great place to stay, convenient, comfortable, Julie is wonderful. Looking forward to my next stay!

The description was perfect & it met all our needs!!! Very sweet & cute cottage on a quiet street perfectly in the middle of both the ocean and the sound side! The trees surrounding it were breath taking! We thoroughly enjoyed everything from the second we got there! Very peaceful!

I was lucky to find this place, the reviews were good.....but you never know. I'm writing this for Julie, I would prefer that we keep this place as a secret. It was PERFECT in every way. Perfect location, comfy bed (very important), kitchen well stocked, just everything I could have wanted. I tried to buy it, Julie was not interested. I'll be back for sure!

This was our second visit to this home and it is just as enchanting as the first. It’s perfect for a peaceful time away from your everyday life to rest and enjoy all that Topsail and the region has to offer.

My husband and I had a very relaxing time. The house was clean, very well stocked (excellent for cooking), and the bed was very comfortable. We loved the screened in porch among the live oaks, listening to the birds. The beach was close and easy to get to as was the Sound. An excellent and rejuvenating vacation for us at a lovely place. I stay at this property was perfect, serene and everything a vacation home should be! The house was perfect, very clean, lovely location, just a few steps to the beach. Julie is absolutely wonderful.

From the first contact with the VRBO host, everything was perfect. The house was great, the location amazing, and the stay was pure relaxation.

We loved this property that is nestled among lovely old oak trees. It is cozy and inviting and the house is fabulously well appointed with everything you will need for your stay. Both the indoor and outdoor spaces are well thought out. You are also just steps away from miles of gorgeous beach. Julie and her husband are great hosts and made us feel very welcome. We would be back in a heartbeat!

This is an amazing property! It is played out well especially if you have pets or even small children. There is entertainment spaces all around. Location wise you hear the ocean and it's a short walk with a private access or you can go down to the sound which is also a short walk. The trees on the property look straight out of movie with so much character and charm. We enjoyed the local eateries and played games back at the rental fun for the whole family.

We needed a place to stay for our annual vacation after the rental we normally stay in went up by 250%! We were thrilled to find this sweet spot that accommodated our need to be close to a sound kayak launch & the beach. Both are an equidistant walk from the house. You can sit on the porch & hear the ocean, or take a stroll for less than 5 minutes & be on the beach for a gorgeous sunrise, or the sound for the vibrant sunset. The owner is very responsive to any questions, & makes it known she is available for any issues during the stay. Thankfully we didn't have any issues, but I had some questions before arriving, such as is there a slow cooker (yes, there is!) & whether the grill is gas or charcoal (charcoal). The outdoor living spaces make this place much larger for a 2 bedroom. The screened in porch is amazing, & I could have curled up there to read & write all week, if it weren't for the pull of the beach! Nestled amongst the trees, the temperature and amount of sun stayed perfect to sit on either porch (early Oct.). The owner has several beach chairs behind the house, which were great to take down for surf fishing. There's also a nice area for cleaning fish. The absolute ONLY suggestions I have are: 1) could've used more plates & bowls (there are 8 dinner plates) so we didn't have to run the dishwasher so much; and 2) the washing machine, which is much newer than my own, takes longer to finish the cycle. So just know ahead of time don't throw your clothes in the wash before you go to bed if you hope to get them in the dryer downstairs before you go to sleep. I only mention in case there's another mom out there who, at the end of the day, throws her laundry in before collapsing into bed, & as a suggestion to bring some paper plates! Simply adjust the timing of laundry & run the dishwasher more often. These are modern conveniences (the dishwasher is brand new, replaced the day before we arrived) that we can push start & step away from, so not a big deal! The slatted door from a prior review is boarded on the back, so no issues there. A note for anyone vacationing who uses dishwashers. We have never stayed in a place where the dishwasher has any rinse aid in it. I've learned to always bring some with me! The beds were comfy & I slept well. Open living room & kitchen allows for families to stay connected. A WONDERFUL, affordable place to stay! Julie, we are so grateful for your home & GENEROUS hospitality! We'd definitely stay here again!

It was the perfect getaway!

Property is perfect for a quiet, peaceful beach get-away! Very short walk to beach. Convenient outdoor shower and clean house.

You can’t go wrong staying at the Hidden Treasure!! Julie is a great host; the home is well equipped with everything you need for an enjoyable time at the beach. We love the cozy, comfortable atmosphere tucked away in the oak trees, while being situated a short walk to the beach or sound. We also found some amazing seafood this year at Lewis’s Seafood Shack a few minutes down the road and look forward to staying again next year!

We love the location, needs a little attention of the deck and gate was almost falling off. We've stayed here twice, enjoyed the neighbor hood.

We were blessed enough to be able to spend two weeks at this wonderful property. The location is absolutely fantastic, by the city limit of both Surf City and Topsail Beach. So, when you need something, you scoot north, otherwise to relax and browse the arts and crafts market (Thursdays) or enjoy a glass of wine and live music (Quarter Moon!!!) you head south. The best part(s) however are almost instant beach access and access to the marsh channels (where we kayaked) at either end of the street. Then when you get back to the house, you can relax under the beautiful live oak trees that surround the house, watch squirrels, birds (we saw the blue jay a couple of times) or just read or take a nap. This was one of the most relaxing vacations for us ever, even Mr Whiskers, our cat, felt right at home during the second week. Thank you, Ms. Julie!

Property was exactly as represented in photos. Owner was great to work with, very accommodating, helpful. Pooches LOVED the beach! Looking forward to going back some time.
