Lovely home for a summer mountain get away. The property is clean and well maintained along with being easy to get in and out of. It is conveniently located near the main road and Bear Valley amenities. This section of the Sierras is a well kept secret with all the beauty and none of the crowds. It provides great hiking, biking, boating, swimming, and fishing. It is an easy drive from the San Francisco Bay area with many scenic spots along the way. The home is quite and cozy providing an opportunity for rest and relaxation. The kitchen and amenities are well appointed making the stay extra easy. We highly recommend this home.

We loved the house - especially not needing a snowmobile to get to it! House was super clean and spacious. Plenty of parking nearby and the mountain was only a 10-15 min drive away. Would def stay again.

We stayed here just after a big snow storm. It was lovely. A 3 minute walk from the parking lot so it was easy to transport our stuff to the house. The house was cleared for access, warm and clean. We stayed with another family so there were 8 of us total which was perfect. ( 4 adults, 4 teens). Would love to come back here next year or in the summertime!

If you want snow, this is it. It is close enough to walk from Lot C. Come prepared to snow hike. You can ski to the cabin/Inn which is near by.

Perfect spot to join our out of state children and grandchildren. Lots of room for everyone and absolutely everything you need. Lodge is easily walkable. Lakes and great trails are a quick drive. Very easy check-in but Katia was always available. We had a wonderful stay!!

We felt very lucky to have found Katia's place during our kids ski week! From the beginning, she was quick to communicate and helpful!
When we got to the cabin we delighted to find it was so close to the parking lot. Since the roads aren't plowed during the winter, you have to walk all your things up! We were lucky because a friend with a snowmobile helped cart our things...but in reality, with the sleds provided and only a few hundred feet, it would not be difficult. If you don't like this idea...I understand there is a great snowmobile taxi!!
The house was VERY well appointed. It had everything we needed for a short (or long) stay. Beds were comfy, kitchen well appointed, the open floorplan in the kitchen family room made it so we could all be together!
We had a couple minor things pop up while we were there (previous tenant had broken one of the toilet seats...still usable though) and Katia was super responsive and had someone out to replace it same day! I wouldn't have been able to be that quick at home let alone an hour from a hardware store!!
There is central heating but it doesn't do a great job downstairs! But we were still cozy thanks to a gas fireplace in the downstairs family room and a wood fireplace in the master bedroom. One suggestion (for master wood fireplace) is to follow the well written and detailed instructions step by step. You might think you know how to light a fire (we did) but snow creates different pressure systems in the house and the instructions are important to follow!! It's easy though!!
All in all - we would definitely go back! This will be our go-to place in Bear Valley not only for the convenience of the location - but because the owners are a great example of how all VRBO owners and hosts should be!!
Thank you!

If you’re renting a cabin in Bear Valley when the roads are closed to cars, this is the cabin you’ll want to rent. It is a very short walk to lot c where you can unload your car so this saves you from having to hire a snow mobile taxi. The propane fireplace downstairs keeps the cabin warm and the heaters in the bedrooms ensure you’ll stay comfortable at night even if you close your door. Katia is super responsive, the cabin was very clean, and there was plenty of room for the teens to hang out downstairs while the adults could hang out upstairs. Be prepared to carry your food containers and coolers up a short flight of stairs. I highly recommend using plastic storage containers with removable lids to keep out rain and snow. It makes transporting your food and random gear much easier. We had a great time and definitely recommend!

Great setting and location for a summer weekend for mountain biking and swimming in the lakes.

Our family, including our 7 year old grandson too a quick few days before school starts. Bear Valley is beautiful. We spent time at Lake Alpine, to their delight, the boys caught several trout. Son and grandson had a great time at Bear Lake, just a quick drive or a medium walk from the cabin. They swam and kayaked, kayak provided by the owners.
Beds were comfy and the owner was very responsive to my inquiries.

The cabin was really great and the host Katia was great also. Even though I like staying at different places every year, it’s going to be very tempting to rent this one again.

We had a nice time at the property and liked that it was walking distance to the XC ski center. It's also walking distance to the winter parking area, which is nice because the road leading to the cabins is not plowed in the winter. The inside of the cabin is rustic and has many different nooks for people to spread out. Also, lots of toys and DVDs to keep children occupied. Overall a very nice stay!

The host was great and easy to get a hold of and explain how things work. The house was very clean and warm and in a great location close to the base of the hill. The kids loved it. Thanks!

Our 2 families of 3 rented this cabin to attend a November wedding at Bear Valley Lodge. It was perfect for our trip, well-stocked with everything you could need and SO COZY!
We really appreciated all the extra blankets, cozy rugs, and well-thought-out amenities. Our daughter (age 7) and her friend (age 5) LOVED the toys, DVDs, and stuffed bears in the bunk bedroom. And if I could give an extra star to the Hinrichsen's for all of the hooks and places to hang or put your stuff while you are there I would. I have stayed at so many rental places where there is literally nowhere to put your travel items except the floor. But not here!
We lucked out and the roads weren't closed yet due to snow, but even if they had been the cabin would have been easy to access from the parking area.
Thanks for such a great stay. We'll definitely be back if our schedule allows.

Wife and I had a great time. Lots of places to visit around the area. Our kids loved Bear Lake. Place was clean and well prepared for our arrival. Would like to thank the owners for opening up there place. Just a great blessing and experience. First time renting a cabin. Will definitely try and do this again in the near future. Thank you

We loved this cabin and it was the perfect area for us to go to all the lakes and rivers we love to go to. Hoping to also check it out in the winter or early summer where the smoke won’t keep us from enjoying the outdoors as much. Thanks for everything!

It fit our family needs perfectly! Really liked the electric fireplace/heater! Just the right # of beds and bunks. Owner let us take our dog at the last moment. Also, I left an expensive pillow, but the next renters found it and made arrangements to ship it to me. Kudos to OWNERS!

We came up for a long weekend. The cabin was perfect for us. The kitchen was well stocked (better then what I expected), the beds were comfortable and the outdoor fire pit made our nights. We are looking forward to coming back

What a great location. Owners are very friendly and helpful. 20 min down to the resevior. Spent the whole day kayaking and this was a great cabin to retire in after a long day on the water. Kids would have a blast here. Great for a summer or winter vacation. We will be back for sure. Thanks again for having us!

We had a great time at Katia’s cabin. It was clean, well stocked, and very cozy. Katia was very accommodating and helpful, and the house had all we needed for our little family of 5. The snow park with sledding/tubing/cross country skiing was a short walk away, and had we planned for the snow a bit better, we would’ve leveraged Bear Valley Adventures for some additional activities. Otherwise, it was fun to play in the snow right outside the house.

The house was perfect for us. It is close enough in that getting your stuff in and out was not bad at all but far enough in that you can forget all your cares and just enjoy the beauty of all that snow! We loved it and will definitely come back again!

We had another great stay at this property. Last time we didn’t realize the snow park across the street! It was the perfect day to take the kids on the sleds there. We loved the comfy new sectional and felt like plenty of room for four adults and our two kids.

My family had a great time on this vacation, and the home was obviously a contributor to that. The house was good for my family of 6 - definitely enough space to spread around - but it'd be have to be a very close group of people to get to the 9-12 max qty for the property (e.g. sleeping on couches in common spaces). The home is not the "nicest" we've ever stayed at, but it was functional and sufficient for my family. A hot tub (common for other properties we've stayed at for ski vacations) would be a tremendous addition, and is really the biggest reason we'd pick another place over this one.Other comments:1. This house is probably the closest to the parking lot, so it's possible to walk (with the provided sleds, which work surprisingly well) with all your gear. I was not clear that taxiing with snowmobiles was the norm for this neighborhood (when booking - it was mentioned in the detailed doc I got a few days before arriving. I had no cell coverage in the parking lot, I don't even know how I would have called the number provided to call a taxi). Be prepared.2. My kids liked the bear theme throughout the home, and played the xbox360 (which was a nice surprise). Entertainment options were plenty sufficient, e.g. chromecasts on the TVs allow us to cast (Disney, YouTube etc) videos from our phones.3. There are various heating solutions in the home - furnace, fireplace, oil-filled radiators, wood-burning stove, electric wall heaters - and we never quite got the temperatures right in the home despite the provided documentation. Most notably, the master-bedroom only really had the wood-burning stove, which we never got to burn all night and the furnace (that should provide heat to that room) seems to shut off overnight with no instructions how to keep it on. We were freezing by morning in the master bedroom.4. Something also seemed wrong with the hot water to the master bedroom (it was plenty hot everywhere else). The water in the sink was ice cold, and never warmed up when washing hands/face, and I actually got out of the shower and moved to the other bathroom when the temp never got above lukewarm.5. The owner checked in regularly - before and after arrival and departure - and was prompt in addressing any issues we had. (The power went off in one part of the house, and she pointed me to the 2 power boxes to reset the breakers.) Pinging about the water temp never came up because of the time-of-day I'd encounter it (late/early day).

Fantastic snow trip, we will be back someday! Very cute cabin that was perfect for our needs. Our kids (7 & under) had fun with the books and toys there. The WiFi worked great even for my son to do some remote Zoom school too. The distance from the parking lot to the house was really quite minimal (200 hundred feet or so). I was concerned about the no parking near the house in winter, but it was completely no big deal. The sleds at the house pull your stuff easily, even the heavy stuff, and two quick trips and we had the car unloaded in under 20 minutes. Easy. The house is ideally located - it is the first house of the development. I could see this being a bigger deal for the houses located way in the back of the development necessitating snowmobile rental. It really added to the adventure in a great way!We had days of fun sledding and winter activities — walking to Bear Valley Adventure Company was easy. Such a great location! Really a great winter trip and cute cabin!

This cabin was the perfect home base for exploring all that Bear Valley has to offer in winter. Walk to the cross-country ski and tubing place, walk to sledding hills in the neighborhood, and an easy drive to downhill ski. The cabin is beautifully appointed and maintained, and was comfortable and spacious for our family. The owner was very communicative, helpful, and generous. We loved the place and will stay again.
