A propos de ce appartementrental
Artful Lodging & Retreats Civil War Infirmary 2nd Fl'r 3 Bdrm Apt Montpelier VT

Very nice, clean place, but there's a couple things that need to be clear in the ad. There's no washer/dryer, the owner offered to do laundry for a really high price. Three bedrooms but, effectively, one parking spot. And there's no real common area, one of the bedrooms is the only place to gather. Good location, but I wouldn't stay here again.

We had a great time in Vermont and happy we chose to stay here! Great location in downtown to walk to a grocery store or Main Street. We felt welcome and loved the beautiful hilltop view!

Rented the 3BR which was perfect for a friend and I, and would have been comfortable for 6 easily. 15 min walk downtown and 30-35 to Stowe. Would recommend!

I spent two days with my kids (18 and 20 years) at Beth's place and had great time!
Very conveniently located in Montpelier, allows for easy access for a bunch of ski resorts as well as the convenience of being in a city with good restaurants.
Beth was just fantastic from the minute we booked the house.
She waited to show us the house, which is very convenient for a group (3 spacious bedrooms).
We had no trouble at all and really enjoyed our stay at Beth's place, and she checked in daily with us to make sure everything went well.
I would highly recommend Beth's place!

Wonderful stay
Rental owner was very kind. She even made us brownies on our arrival. The home has spectacular views of Montpelier and is within walking distance of downtown. Very convenient and beautiful.

Comfortable Clean Historical Home in Vermont’s Capital.
Very easy stay in a home away from home.
We skied Stowe every day and the 1/2 hour commute to Montpelier gave our teenagers just the right amount of time to regroup before getting back to Montpelier to rest up for another Fay of skiing.
The owner keeps this historical home very clean and cozy for our family of four to rest, read, cook and sleep for a very enjoyable week of play: snowshoeing, skiing in Stowe.
Thank you.

Close to downtown Montpelier
This property is ideal for families or couples, as there are 3 bedrooms, 2 with queen size and 1 with king size bed. We thought there would be a living room area, so the space was tight for us ( 5 single women). The owner was very responsive, and the location is ideal if you're wanting to spend time in downtown Montpelier.

Delightful and accomodating
Beth was great! There was a mistake with our booking and she worked it out in a lovely way. Our stay was peaceful and we had everything we needed! The hammocks were a delight!

Cozy apartment with accomadating host
We rented the first floor apartment and found it meet our needs. The host Beth was very helpful allowing my daughter and her children to settle in earlier than the expected time and providing a pack and play and high chair and toys. The living room is unusual because it has beds and a couch which means there isn’t really a common area to hang out in after people go to sleep.

Attentive host and great house!
Beth was so great to work with. The place was perfect for us, and Beth was helpful when our travel details changed a bit! Hope to return soon!

Beautiful Fall Weekend getaway
We really enjoyed our stay in the Artful Asian 2nd Floor apt. The space was clean and well appointed. Plenty of room for us (just 2), but also 2 additional bedrooms had space for at least 4 more. Beth and her family were very gracious, providing us with directions to town, recommendations on dining and shopping. We were also only 2 blocks away from our friends that live here and were able to walk to their house and also to the main street for dining. We would recommend this property, and we would stay here again.

Another fantastic rental experience!
This was our second time staying here, and we have nothing but great things to say about the property and its owner. Beth is not just extremely responsive but incredibly proactive and a very generous host. We've stayed in both the upstairs and downstairs apartments, and we would recommend them wholeheartedly to anyone traveling with young children (as we did), or without. The apartments are lovely, and you will be in the best possible hands during your stay. We can't say enough good things. We're already dreaming about our next stay!

Very lovely stay
We stayed in this beautiful home during my sons graduation from Norwich. The home is very centralized to all areas! We had a lovely stay. The home was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. My only suggestion would be to have a TV. Beth was very accommodating! She always returned messages answering our questions in a timely manner. I highly recommend staying here.

We came to Montpelier to celebrate Thanksgiving with neighbors very near this beautiful house. It was the perfect rental. This is a lovely, quiet and convenient location for a visit to Montpelier. We highly recommend it!

Great Stay
Stayed for a long weekend and really enjoyed it. Beth was a great host and her home is beautiful. The location is great and very quiet. Will definitely be staying here next time I'm in Montpelier. Don't hesitate making this where you lay your head while staying in Montpelier.

Perfect Vermont Experience
This home was perfect. It was BEAUTIFUL, historic, cozy, and accommodating in an extremely convenient location. Montpelier is easy to hop on the interstate from, and this home was SO close to downtown Montpelier and the charming square of the local cottage. It was a very quiet street but near the action.
Beth was an incredible hostess- Anything you could possibly want, need, or have forgotten for your trip was in that house. There were toiletries, first aid, even a lit makeup mirror and blow dyer. She was flexible, friendly, and attentive.
The beds were extremely comfortable (we slept like rocks) and the house just oozed a cozy charm. We all had our privacy and comfort despite there being 6 of us.
I would absolutely recommend this home and will likely rent it ourselves again.

Our 2-bedroom apartment was just right!
I would recommend this lovely, inviting home to anyone who would like a quiet, comfortable alternative to Montpelier's hotel/motel offerings. It's an easy walk down hill to the heart of Montpelier (though not so easy going up!) and a great place to relax after a day of business or recreating. Beth was a most gracious and thoughtful host. She was exceptionally helpful and caring when a minor emergency arose in our party and generously communicative as we made our arrangements to book and arrive. The two bedroom suite (one bedroom adequately serving as sitting room) was perfect for our three-some, though the kitchen would be cramped for seating more than three at once. All was clean and well-maintained and just as described in the listing. The gardens and lovely view were a plus. The owner and family share this historic building with their guests, so loud music or partying are not appropriate. I would want to stay here again on a future visit to Montpelier.

Good Alternative to VCFA Dorms
I stayed at Beth’s cozy upstairs apartment with another student during the 10 days of residency at Vermont College of Fine Arts. The apartment is just 2 blocks from the college (a 6-minute walk) and a 10-15 minute walk into town or to the wonderful Hunger Mountain co-op. The kitchen was well equipped and I was able to do lots of cooking for my restricted health diet. The bed was comfortable, and the room was furnished with all the items I needed to feel at home— a dresser, bookcase, desk, mirror, and a closet with plenty of hangers.
Beth was quite welcoming and responsive to my requests for extra supplies —like more dishtowels or hot pads—but also let us have our space. The wireless Internet worked well and the lack of TV was a plus for writing and reading. It’s a great place to stay for residency if you can’t stay in the VCFA dorms or would rather not.

Excellent Stay
My two adult girlfriends and I stayed for ten days while attending VCFA residency. We were delighted with the upstairs front apartment (3 bedrooms). As other reviews say, the kitchen and bathroom were well stocked, the bedrooms all had window a/c's which were nice on warm evenings, and the mattresses were new and very comfortable. The kitchen was just big enough for us to cook and eat. Our S.O.'s spent the weekend and it would have been crowded to eat-in during inclement weather but we grilled outside and enjoyed the beautiful yard/ garden and views of Montpelier and Camel's Hump. Otherwise, even with 6 adults we were able to have lots of privacy. The bedrooms all have extra seating and ample room to retreat behind closed doors. This apartment has only a tiny common seating area (besides the kitchen) which we all enjoyed very much. No TV, great wi-fi. The bathroom is basic with a larger shower stall but no tub. And the stairs to the second floor are a little narrow and steep (typical New England), not very good for elderly or disabled. Beth and Bob could not be more accommodating and were only a text away even when they were gone for the holiday weekend. She is a perfect VRBO hostess, there when you need her, plenty of time to share local knowledge/ insight, or just chat; out of sight otherwise. (Although I was sorry to not have more time to spend just to get to know her!) Highly recommend a stay. Well worth the cost. The downstairs rooms seemed perfect also for families with teens or young children. When they were unoccupied, Beth opened the well-appointed "parlor" with TV, couches, and chairs, so we could use it, too. There are three wide slate-slab steps leading to the front door, so wheelchairs might be difficult.

Perfect!
We stayed for a week here and it was perfect! The house was in beautiful condition, everything was very clean, it was centrally located, the beds were super comfortable and the kitchen area was cozy and just right. The owner was very accommodating and friendly. She had even stocked the place with every amenity we might need from pans to toiletries!

Cozy home equipped with all the essentials. Great location in a quiet neighborhood. Owners went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had what we needed. Pet free home is a definite PLUS +++

perfect for us
My wife, daughter and I stayed for 2 nights while visiting our new son-in-laws family. Beth met us on arrival and welcomed us to her home. The kitchen was perfect for us and the apartment is only a few minutes drive from the center of town. Beth set up a sofa in the 3rd bedroom so that we would have someplace to relax. there is a larger livng/dining area at the bottom of the stairs that is shared with the other small apartment. Capitol Grounds for great coffee and the Skinny Pancake for a variety of tasty crepes.

Relaxing
Vermont this time of year is beautiful. Our stay here was worth it. My husband and I spent the weekend at Beth's place with two other couples (ages ranging 48+) to strengthen our relationships. We rented the rooms in the upstairs apt and found the bedrooms to be very spacious as portrayed in the photos. Although the 6 of us were cramped in the kitchen and sitting area as it is small as the previous reviewer stated, I am glad I called ahead and spoke with the owner to see what could be done. Beth was gracious and very accommodating, she opened up the sitting room/dining space for us downstairs. So if you plan to live simply and don't mind lugging food stuff up and down the stairs, don't discount your stay here. Beth's home is cozy with a feel of a B&B without the breakfast. Only drawback to house is the 9:30pm quiet curfew which I knew would be hard to observe with six people, or large family I would think, but we tried not to be overly boisterous purposefully and to Beth's credit, I didn't hear any negative feedback from her either :). Our group took in leisurely biking ride in Montpelier's trail taking the back road to have lunch at the red hen bakery and visited the pottery shop on rte 2. Then biked back to town and visited a few shops in town. Ending our afternoon enjoying a quiet sunset in the Beth's backyard at her invitation. Next day was a trip to cabot to check out the cheese factory, enjoyed a photo opt at the covered bridge near cabot plains rd then we took the long way home over lake Champlain ferry back to New York. Just what we like to do. Thanks Beth for everything.

Low key and close to downtown
My wife and I reserved this apartment for a 6-day trip to Montpelier with her brother's family, for a total of 5 guests (4 adults, 1 child). All in all, the apartment was excellent: there are three lovely bedrooms, a very nice bathroom, plus a small kitchen. The location is fantastic: approximately one-half mile from downtown Montpelier, and just down the street from VCA and the Culinary Institute. Montpelier is a beautiful tiny city with more cultural amenities than many cities 10 times its size.
The 2nd-floor apartment was charming, clean, quiet, and comfortable, and nicely maintained. It felt homey and unpretentious, without the cloying qualities that many inns and b&b's share. (For instance, there was a welcome absence of doilies, teddy bears, 900 ridiculous bed pillows, and other cutesy crapola that usually festoon those places.) The only drawback is the small kitchen and lack of a common area. There is a small landing at the top of the stairs that's nice for one person to sit, but there's no living room, which made it hard to sit and talk. The kitchen is nice, but very small, and could use more place settings.
Fortunately, Montpelier offers many excellent restaurants plus a kick-ass natural foods co-op, and has no summer crowds. We would definitely stay here again!
