Fabulous house near Tunnels Beach on the gorgeous north shore. Very well stocked and clean with comfortable beds and air conditioning that worked well in August heat. Very relaxing and peaceful location.

What a beautiful home in a breathtaking setting! Everything was very clean and the kitchen is well-stocked. We loved sitting on the back porch and enjoying the scenery, birds, and occasional other critters. My kids especially enjoyed the morning chicks and evening frogs. The location is wonderful for several beaches, Ha'ena State Park, and Hanalei. We could have stayed entertained and fed for weeks without traveling more than 15-20 minutes. It was nice to be close to so much but also removed from the touristy hustle of Hanalei. Be sure to check out the farmer's market on Saturday and get passes for Ha'ena in advance!

My family absolutely loved our stay here! Our favorites were the outdoor shower (such an amazing experience) and the close location to Tunnels Beach, but the extra amenities were also very thoughtful. There were beach chairs, snorkel gear, a wagon, coolers, etc in the downstairs laundry room; tons of towels and beach towels, first aid kits and pretty much everything we might have needed. Tunnels Beach is just a short walk to the right from the house (go slightly past mile marker 8 and you’ll see the YMCA Camp Naue sign on the left side of a dirt road, walk down that dirt road a block or less and when the road turns to the right you continue straight along the white fence line directly to the beach). Loved the air conditioning in the afternoons after the heat of the beach and also sitting outside on the deck in the evenings hoping to catch a glimpse of the horses and donkey. If it rains (which it did on us a lot), just enjoy a nice soak in the jacuzzi tub outside. 😊

We loved our time here. Our host was responsive, kind, and accommodating. The house is in great shape with excellent amenities, especially beach equipment. And it’s walking distance from one of the best beaches in the world. What more is there to say?

Third time at the house. It's perfect for us, bc we want to beach all day every day and it's only a short walk. It's always clean, and the house has everything we need so we can pack light. Quiet street, you can hear the surf, and see the most amazing stars at night! Loved the fresh flowers greeting us upon arrival. Can't wait for our next visit!

The house is wonderful and Tunnels Beach, just a few minutes away, is totally incredible!
The house is spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed. The deck is a great place to hang out between trips to the beach, and the AC cooled us down quickly when we got a little too warm. The house felt very private. We loved the high ceilings in the open main space, too. Everything was clean and comfortable and we really enjoyed the beach toys.
Tunnels Beach is easily one of the best beaches we've ever visited, anywhere. Our 8 year old son swam, played in the water, and snorkeled for days, even though there was high surf out in the open ocean. Being able to walk to the beach was really relaxing. You need to pre-book, but the parking for Nāpali Coast State Wilderness Park, Kalalau Trailhead, and Hāʻena SP is perhaps 5 minutes drive from the house. There's also a shuttle but you'd have to drive much further (the opposite way) to catch the shuttle. The hike along the coast is spectacular and up to the waterfall is amazing but challenging.
The property manager, Beaux, was super kind and helpful when our departure plans were disrupted by some flash flooding elsewhere on the island. That meant a lot to us.

We enjoyed our stay here immensely! The house was lovely and had the most incredible views of the surrounding mountains from the back deck. Road noise was barely noticeable but birds calls were everywhere (including the wild roosters). We loved snorkeling at Tunnels beach with our kids and exploring the town of Hanalei. The house was clean and very well provisioned. We certainly hope we get an opportunity to come back!

Stayed here exactly two years ago and knew we had to come back. The house and location are perfect and, despite the short drive from Hanalei (which never gets old), feels like you're at the end of the world.
The property has everything you could need on site and at the beach. Not sure if the grapefruit tree is part of this house or the neighbors', but next time I'm going to pluck one :)!

Rain or shine, this is the perfect place: 2 blocks walk to the beach, giant covered porch overlooking a jungle covered mountain, shower outside listening to bird calls, and cross three one way bridges from town. You feel like you’re staying at the end of the world and you’re happy to be there.

Very clean. Perfect aloha spirit of the Kauai north shore. Accurately described. We had three couples and plenty of space. Loved the proximity to Tunnels beach since it is hard to find parking there. The tropical garden setting with the back deck that looked over the animal sanctuary was beautiful and fun. The covered outdoor shower and jacuzzi tub were perfect for lounging on a rainy north shore day. Easy drive into Hanalei for some great restaurants. Would definitely stay again :)

We really enjoyed our stay! The kitchen was great, awesome knife set. The beds were comfy. Close to the beaches, great to walk to mornings till evenings. We liked the local vibe, very relaxing and quiet. Loved all the fun animal sightings out back.

Also, there was gear and supplies available for us to use. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate for part of the trip. I guess we'll have to go back :-)!

This wonderful house was the best place we’ve ever stayed on the Islands. The location was awesome; less than a half-mile walk to Tunnels Beach, with the “backyard” abutting a protected nature area so, while sitting on the spacious deck, we could enjoy the diverse bird life and watch cows, donkeys, and horses wander by below.
The house itself was amazingly well-appointed—the owner obviously put a lot of loving care into this living space. The air conditioning—a bonus that very few Island VRBO rentals offer—is the modern split-room type, so you can choose which room you want to cool down. We used it only in the living-room area during the afternoons and the bedroom at night to sleep cool. The kitchen was well-stocked with all necessary cookware and condiments. The house was so comfortable, we ended up cooking our own dinners almost every night, eating on the deck at the outdoor dining table, enjoying the birdsong and the Trade-Wind breezes.
We rarely used the big-screen TV, opting instead for the peace and quiet, the sounds of Nature, and the view out back. The neighbors were, for the most part, quiet and respectful, their dog barking only occasionally, but never at night. The traffic noise from Kuhio Highway was hardly noticeable, thanks to double-pane windows and the house being set well back from the road. Most of all, we hugely appreciated the responsiveness and generosity of both the owner and the local caretaker—genuinely good people who made our stay even more perfect.

Place was everything we had hoped for and more! Loaded with amenities (beach items, kitchen, bathrooms, etc) with special extras like the outdoor shower and bath and huge outdoor balcony for viewing (and petting) of the mules, donkeys, horses, and cows that routinely roamed about. Location proximity to tunnels and Haena state beach afforded nightly epic sunsets shared with only a few others. So close to Hanalei yet so far away, a place to truly melt your troubles away. Thank you Judy and Beaux for making everything so easy from start to finish. If there was an option for six stars this would get it!

This home was perfect for my family of 5. The beds and pillows were all comfortable and the home was well stocked (kitchen, linens, towels, beach gear, movies, games, etc). The AC and fans exceeded my expectations for keeping the home a comfortable temperature. All laundry and major kitchen appliances were in great working order. Our family immensely enjoyed the outdoor shower. What a simple thing that can really elevate your Hawaiian experience! The property manager was very accessible and friendly. This is a quiet area and we appreciated the quietness and respect for the natural beauty. Thanks for a memorable stay!

We have been to Kauai 6 times now and stayed in the Haena area 4 of the 6 times. This house is our favorite house for all of the reasons people have mentioned. I would highly recommend renting bikes so you can make the short ride to the beach and thus be able to ride if back to the house to eat lunch. Perfect location, plenty of room and the best area on the island if you like to chill.

Our family of 4 with elementary-aged children thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay. Agree with all the previous reviewers. House was clean and well stocked. We particularly enjoyed the back lanai view of the mountains (and cows, horses, donkeys), grilling on the lanai, the outdoor shower, and short walk/drive to Tunnels. We were looking for a quiet place on the north shore close to a less-crowded child-friendly beach and away from a town but still within 30min drive of restaurants/markets, and Judy’s place hit all the marks. We’ll definitely come back.

If you’re looking for a getaway this is it. Remote location at the end of the island, beautiful tunnels Beach across the street and an easy walk. Wild horses chickens and cows in the backyard. But everything you need was in the house. We had a small issue with the air conditioner when we got there and one of the toilets stopped flushing, but the property manager took care of them within the day that I reported it and was very attentive. My family had a fabulous time here and wished we would’ve spent a second week. Hope to be back Someday. Highly recommend if you are truly looking to get away from everything.

My wife and I came to Kauai for our honeymoon 20 years ago and have always wanted to come back. We finally were able to along with our 2 daughters. We loved the house. The back deck is beautiful with the Mountain views. It was a treat to see the cows, horses and donkeys walking by every day. Lots of birds singing all day too. It feels like a tropical oasis. Tunnels beach is about a 10 minute walk. One time we drove the car and unloaded everyone and I came back and rode a bike to the beach. There are 4 bikes. Parking at the beach is not easy. But there is a beach wagon to haul everything to the beach and we walked it that way a few times too. There are a lot of beach accessories available to bring and we appreciated the umbrellas and chairs. Tunnels beach has great snorkeling. The house is also a short drive to Hanalei, which is great for shopping. Last time we came we stayed in a big hotel in Poipu and this is much better. The North Shore beauty can’t be matched.
We did have a few hiccups with the property while we were here, but they were all fixed quickly and communication was great.
We’d definitely come back again if we could.

This is our second time staying here b/c we love it so much. The house has everything we need, including beach stuff, and is always clean. The back lanai overlooks a pasture where some animals roam. It sits on a quiet street and is a nice area for walks. It's really close to the beach and Hanalei if you need anything. We hope to come back next year. Thanks!

Judy's house was as advertised. We stayed Feb 2023. The scenery is absolutely beautiful.The home is very private. Five minute walk to Tunnels Beach and five minute drive to the Kalalau Trail Head. We saw donkeys, horses, cows, and of course, chickens in the woods from the back Lani in back of the home. Short drive to Hanalei. Judy was an exceptional host. We visited her home at the end of the Kona Low storm. I had a lot of questions concerning if it was safe to visit during the storm; which it was. Judy answered all of my questions the same day. I highly recommend Judy's home and will definitely be visiting again.
